Purgatory Canyon 1866: Marching the First 4 Miles

- This American Civil War campaigner reenacting event for civilians, infantry, and cavalry will immerse you in what life was like in 1866 Colorado Territory.
Infantry marched 12 miles with full kit - this includes musket and knapsacks. 22 men started the march and only 9 made it to the end.
Event held April 2024 at Picket Wire Corrals near La Junta Colorado

NO. WAY!!! YOU GOT THIS EVENT ON FILM? Thank you so kindly pardon! A true and beautiful service. One side of my family is from Colorado, and we would have loved to make it out to this incomparable event. However, school calls. Truly looking forward to viewing this tonight!
super cool HB. First time for me in this part of Colorado in the high desert. The greatness of it all made me feel physically small. I was able to get quite a bit of footage in this video and 3 additional parts of this mini-series. Hope to see you again on the field pard.

yes, our brogans did take some ware on this march .. mine are very close to end of life.

great to have met you at this event! the video does not truly capture the intense heat from the sun, but you can see the effect as us men gathered in any available shade.

sure was pard. of the 22 men that started the march only 9 completed it. Temps in mid 80's but the sun was intense and had a dry heat... TONS of fun.

Having done long humps myself in the mountains, I'd guess that your biggest issues were probably inadequate footwear and hydration.
100% correct and while hard to see in the video the intense sun and heat. Our brogans, 160 year old footware gave us a challenge. THANKS pard for the comment.
