I wish they had used it better. Specifically I like the idea that a wielder had to actually live life to power their ring. I also wish that they would have played around with Kyle's costume. Switching in colors or designs rather then that only being a momentary blip when the rings came together. I kind of wish Kyle would join an earth based team like the Titans and we slowly learn that he never actually lost the power of the white light just that it went dormant for awhile.
I’d love to see the white lantern Corps come back, sort of like a corps of pure life preserving lanterns seems like it could work. also give Kyle a white ring again too. I like the idea of Kyle being a white lantern, I grew used to that being his color and it suits him fairly well.
The White Lantern concept has enough lingering questions and a large enough dedicated cast that you could easily get a year or two out of it. Maybe someday.
@@MosaicComics I hope they come back to it someday, honestly the fact that rn there’s a white lantern daxamite out there makes me rlly want to see what they’re capable of after seeing a lot of sodam yat with a green ring and eventually ion.
@@arpitpatel2781 It does, and I've always wanted them to dig into what that means. Did the planet become sentient like Mogo? Did all that White Lantern energy change anything? We may never know, but it's the perfect setup for hundreds of stories.

It has a lot of story telling potential so hopefully someone can dig into it more and make things more clear so we can get a better understanding of its abilities, feats, and lore. I feel that its a case of wasted potential. Good video btw.
I have an idea that could make these fantastic. The ring would have a will of its own that is the will of life itself (like the force). It would communicate with Kyle as a construct of Alex, who would sort of be his guide. Kyle would have to first retrieve his white ring by finding the other colored rings that flew off and then the white ring would have a mission for him to find the white power battery. He would only be able to use the white light if given permission by the life entity. So his powers would be kept in check.
That would be cool. It’s close to what we saw in Brightest Day, when Deadman’s ring was just a vessel for the Life Entity that gave him vague directions and sometimes took charge by teleporting him around against his will.
@@MosaicComics exactly and it would put him in conflict even with the GL corps and guardians. Could be a great story that explores life and death and the responsibility of living on past tragedy. I’d love to get barnaby bagenda to do the art.
@@TheEliasNoel Really fantastic ideas that Kyle really needs right now! I think using the construct of Alex would be a little morbid but I like the idea that the entity chooses the form of Kyle's different loved ones (ie his mom, Jade, the 4 corpsmen) based on the situation like a christmas carol or when kyle went to Mogo in Ion #3.
@@TheEliasNoel Good point, I still think it would be difficult for Kyle to see her but he's lost so many ppl in his life and it would be nice for him to reconcile his past and move forward
What do you think of the entities? Are you glad they’re gone or do you miss them like I do? I wish they would connect more to the starheart but I thought they were a cool concept thrown away too soon.
The Entities are a great idea. I love basically everything about the Emotional Spectrum, it's super interesting. I understand it's not for everybody, but I hope we can get to a place where it's not all or nothing like it has been. I'm just glad we're exploring the Gold and Ultraviolet Lanterns while the rest of the Spectrum has been on hold.
@@MosaicComics I’m still eh about the ultraviolet corps (I don’t think Snyder put enough thought into it) and the gold lanterns seem like a cool idea but I don’t trust Bendis to pull it off after what he did with teen lantern. I love the structure of the emotional spectrum Johns created but I don’t care for the constant additions like the phantom lantern and ultraviolet corps. The spectrum is already big and complicated enough for new writers to just add stuff without real thought about it. The indigo tribe and agent orange, while great concepts, are already extra when considering the Star sapphires/blue lanterns can be compassionate and yellow lanterns can be selfish and greedy already. Have they ever explained why Hal and Kyle were godlike the first time they were parallax and ion but were less powerful every time afterward? My theory has always been that they originally used the powers of both entities the first time but every time after, it was only the one entity. Like in emerald twilight, parallax not only possessed Hal but also ion, giving Hal the power to cause zero hour. Then after final night and Nero, Kyle gained access to Ion and a portion of parallax (the rest of which would still be in Hal for GL Rebirth). As we saw in Sinestro corps war, the entities can be split into objects.
@@kenlsten4651 They've never explained it. I have my theories, but it's never been officially resolved. That's probably part of the point of keeping the Entities off the table for a few years, they can re-introduce them and simplify it down.
09:56 - okay so is that a half naked Huntress with a serious thick bush? Or did they really just do her dirty with that as part of her costume design for this specific series?
Thank you for analyzing the White Lanterns, really made me rethink the concept. I like the idea that the white lantern on its own is able to access the different colors of the spectrum (easily or with great difficulty based on their understanding and control of their own emotions like Kyle during Omega Men) but when given access to the White Lantern entity or Life Equation, a WL becomes almost a god similar to when Kyle became Ion for the first time. Also, I hope to see Kyle's White Lantern corps again but I've always assumed their rings disappeared with Kyle's. Honestly, I would love to see a new Kyle series that looks back on his time as a lantern, having him revisit his time with the JLA, GLC (and his own new corps), WLC, and his loved ones. I feel like a lot of ppl don't really know the full extent of his history and it's about time DC reintroduced the great history Kyle has to the rest of the universe.
The members of his New Corps are still out there, too. Sometime after that story, there was a Secret Files & Origins that mentioned what Anya and the others went on to do, so they're still out there for some writer to pick up on.
@@MosaicComics I own and looked thro the secret files and origins but forgot that part. With those characters and the WLC, I would like them to join other corps or hang out with Kyle again (I will never forgot when Perdoo appeared in Uprising). Something I really like about Kyle is his ability to connect with ppl. For me, my favorite era of his was when he was with the new 52 new guardians (although I wish Bedard was more accurate with Fatality's and Kyle's relationship/rivalry) since they had such a fun dynamic and would've worked as a team going forward if they got over their origins (i will never like the 2nd GL:NG and Kyle's relationship with Carol tho).
@@kenlsten4651 Kyle's relationship with Carol was (for me) redeemed by the fact that she admitted that she was trying to make herself love him out of fear that if she wasn't in love, her Sapphire ring would leave her. I like that, it excuses a bad relationship idea while also adding a super interesting layer to Carol's character. Fatalaty, however, is kind of a mess. They basically rebooted her character twice, that I can think of. I won't go further into it, because I'm writing something about it right now.
@@MosaicComics Wasn't that "love for the fear of losing the ring" was what caused Carol not to stay with Hal? I don't remember Kyle and Carol ever actually breaking up and the last time they mentioned the relationship was in Omega men when Kyle was sketching her. I think DC just are ignoring it at this point. After her relationship with Kyle and her crazy story from the 80s, I honestly kinda hate Carol as a character (just such a weak, annoying person IMO). Btw, what do you think of what they've done with Soranik? I kinda like her as a yellow lantern and Kyle's Black cat-style love interest but I think it really breaks her character and her great relationships/position with the GLC. And just for fun, who do you think Kyle should end up with? I prefer Jade but after how she broke up with Kyle, it's hard to put them together again. And I actually really like the two versions of Fatality but they definitely should be separate characters. One the GL hunter and the other a superpowerful Durlan shapeshifter but I would be okay just having the former version.
@@kenlsten4651 It's not why Carol left Hal, it's why she keeps going back to him. She knows they don't work, but part of her wants it to work, and if she can make it work she can keep her super powers. I really like Soranik a lot, and I think they took attention away from her at the worst time. She was already being pushed into the role of her father's replacement, and Kyle's betrayal seemed to be the last straw. I'd absolutely love to see where she goes from there, what she means for the Sinestro Corps long term, and if there's any way for her to go Green again. As far as love interests go, I'd have to say Kyle and Donna were the best fit. Jade and Sora felt like he was marrying into the GL legacy, whereas Donna was just someone he met at work and they hit it off. Though at this point I really think Kyle should just be single, he's kind of the worst when it comes to relationships.

Rereading New Guardians and man was Kyle’s arc as the white lantern disappointing. The fact that this was just dismissed and the guardians don’t even address it is ridiculous. Such lazy writing.
Does the Gold Lantern now fill the same concept space? Future State: Green Lantern ties the cult in Geoffrey Thorne's run to Orion, where they're using Gold Centurions. Then Stewart has been talking to New Gods' Lonar about streamlining the emotional spectrum, which is exactly what brought about the Gold Lanterns. Superman and the Authority and Infinite Frontier hint at a Crisis-level New Gods conflict to come. It seems to me Gold Lanterns will become the new Source-powered Lanterns. Thoughts?
All of that could be true, but we still don't know anything definitive about where the Gold Lantern power comes from, or what it even is.
