I'm really curious, are there any other perks to a Blue Lantern than just boosting Green? Or is that just the one thing they do?

I just watched your video on your favorite GL runs. I just checked some and I was IMPRESSED at the amount of titles availablein the 90s: Tales of the GL Corps Quaterly, Guy Gardner and Darkstars...maybe more? Question, how can there could be so many? And that was GL. Not the other DC titles.

the old Red Lantern .this is almost similar to the Sentry. Sentry from Marvel Comics . yes, it pretend the Sentry existed in the 1960's but it turned out to be a hoax. this old Red Lantern is a Hoax.

Theres no reason for that many GLs. With 4 there were already too much. The only reason Jessica became popular was because she was the first (and should have been) human GL. And since Geoff Johns created Simon and did nothing with him he just got around. This is what I´ll do: 1- Hal be the MAIN Lantern. 2. Kyle a White Lantern. 3. Guy a Red Lantern 4. Simon to the Far Sector. 5. Jessica takes turns with Hal every now and then. 5. Stewart an Alpha Lantern.

Teen Lantern is THE WORST character ever created. Particularly for Green Lantern. 1. The GL Corps are basically police officers. Would a police recruite a kid to join the forces? 2. Would anyone handle a gun to a kid? No. So instead lets give a power ring (the most powerful weapon in the DC universe to a kid). Not even that, Krona´s Gauntlet that´s even more dangerous. 3. Green Lanterns don´t have teen sidekicks for the same reason. 4. The title doesn´t even make sense. The kid can´t be a Teen Lantern since she´s 11 years old.

Green Lantern became my favorite character after getting tired of DC placing Batman (my then favorite character) everywhere and had him overcome everything. Even situations where metas like Flash or Superman couldn´t handle. I started with the Sinestro Corps War. Didn´t know what to expect since then I barely knew anything of the GL Corps lore. Blew me away! If Blackest Night wasn´t as spectcular as it is, for sure, Sinestro Corps War would have been the best run on the character. So glad you liked Red Lanterns. I do too. But I do love the entire run. When Atoricitus lead the team the comic was its own unique thing and later when Guy took over another. Both great. However, the Atorocitus part suffered because of several mandated crossovers. I understand why DC decided to just give us "short runs" of Red Lanterns and Sinestro Corps. Because they are meant to be the antagonists of the GLs. If we end up loving them then there´s no difference between them and the GLs. After watching your video I´d wish I could own most of them. Particularly GREEN LANTERNS CORPS QUATERLY and the entire Kyle Rayner run. If I were DC this is how I´d handle the human GLs: Hal Jordan the main GL, Kyle a White Lantern, Guy a Red Lantern, Simon to the Far Sector, Jessica to take turns with Hal every now and then and Stewart to the Alpha Corps.

9:46, 14:35, Not only does the use of regular skills and technology give the team capabilities beyond just their powers, but it coming into play when their powers alone aren't enough works very well as part of a superhero narrative in general, as characters being as resourceful as they are powerful makes them more interesting. 22:10, So "pride leads to jealousy, jealousy leads to greed, greed leads to suffering" is really how that speech should have gone. But in regards to Green Lantern, it's themes center more on emotional regulation and ego management than just suppressing negative emotions or using only positive emotions like hope, compassion and love as fuel for one's will. In negative circumstances, hope can be obscure harsh truths with convenient lies, compassion can stall necessary judgment with excessive mercy, love can lead to blind devotion and jealousy, meaning that while they can fuel one's will, that same will must be used to regulate them just as much as with fear, anger or greed, which is also why the Green Lanterns are at the center of this conflict. The only purely "evil" emotion in this Spectrum really is greed, because it's the desire to have, to keep and to do, even at others' expenses, and a system built off it encourages treachery, which can destroy that system from the inside out under the weight of several competing wills (hence why there's only one Orange Lantern). Guy hear tempers his anger with compassion and love, uses it to fuel his will to make positive changes, not as a means to indulge himself (at least not primarily), which is also the same for other heroic Red Lanterns like Razor. If this side of DC's mythology is going to be adapted into shows or movies with wide-reaching audiences, there should be the intent of focusing on this theme of emotional regulation and ego management, that balancing emotions can allow people to fully discover themselves, so that even if their are negative aspects to people, even if they may inherently lean towards one emotion or other (as represented by what Lantern Corps they're in) simply due to personality, any one of them has the potential to strive for something better.

Yeah, I agree. Geoff Johns should have put Predator back into being an aspect of Carol if he wanted her to accept him. Then he could have made it about accepting the darker aspects of yourself of something

This was such a marvelous recap, reading this series as it was being released was my favorite time in my comic book reading history, and you gave that feeling back to me 7 fold and for that I thank you Now can you do 3 prequel series? First- Geoff Johns Green Lantern (Hals return to life and the corps) Second- The Sinestro Corps War And finally Third- The War of Light (before the first black ring)

I love these reviews. I live rural so I can only really read comics when they come out as a trade online so watching this series unfold in your videos is super fun and gets me excited to read the next volume

Wow, great video. Things are really popping off here. I have a feeling this one-shot was supposed to be a crossover between Adams and PKJ's G.L. series. DC obviously pulled the plug on PKJ series and for whatever reason shoved a heavily condensed and rushed version into this one-shot. This issue seems more about ending plot threads, stating new ones, and bringing all the main characters back together. At least there is a lot of cool stuff going on which I cannot wait to see where it goes. The art is super weak. Salvador Larroca is not an impressive artist to say the least. His figure work and body movements are getting worse as time goes by. He has always been awful with providing detailed backgrounds. As you pointed out just some kind of background at all. I really wish they had let the cove artist, Brad Walker, do the interiors. He does amazing work. It would have beaten what was given. Look forward to the upcoming reviews of this G.L. run! I really like the idea of a GL wing to the Watchtower. It never really made sense to me having the lanterns all just have normal homes on Earth seeing as how most of them spend most of their time in space so having living quarters on the Watchtower that look and feel just like regular housing on Earth is a really idea to me. Just wish we got some more developed art of it all.

Atrocious never lost his free will to his red ring. If you are already able to control your rage you should be capable of maintaining your free will. Guy actually done this in War of the Green Lantern Corp using the red ring without becoming a mindless killing machine and even using a Star Sapphire ring with it near the end of the story.

A few questions : 1. What's the in-universe reason they're called "Green Lanterns"? Like, yes, Alan Scott had an actual lantern that gave his ring power, and yes the GLC power batteries do look like a lantern as a reference to that, but they're called power BATTERIES, and they channel their power through RINGS so... where did "lanterns" come from? 2. Why is only Batman forbidden from joining the Sinestro Corps for having worn a green ring previously? Cuz that's the reason we're given, but Jessica and Soranik Natu both switched corps well enough, Hal also used the yellow ring at one point, not to mention this obscure character called Sinestro. So what makes Batman's situation different? 3. Decided to get started on reading the Geoff Johns run (have to get back to that actually), but while I don't mind missing some context too much, I'm still wondering what would you consider essential to read between Hal's origin(s) and Rebirth? 4. Lastly, whenever I see anything with the lantern oaths online, the white lantern oath is pretty much always different. Are there actually multiple versions? Is there even *any* canon version or are all of them fanmade?
