I own the 2000 MV F4 750. Bought it with only 2900 miles showing. It’s red & silver and in showroom condition. I make my own fuel to avoid what happened to you. I blend 4 gallons of 93 with 3/4 gal. of water. Mix it up real good, turn it upside down and wait. Drain out the water and viola! Fresh , pure fuel..... LOVE MV !
*FWIW - if youre in the upstate NY/Catskills area, almost all STEWARTS and MIRABITO stations have premium ethanol-free gas. It's all I put in my MV, Quadrifoglio, and push mower :) Hope that info helps if youre in or about the area.*
Good to know for anyone in that area. Unfortunately there are very few options here in CA, so I'll have to keep an eye on the inside of the tank every few months to make sure the ethanol isn't causing any more problems.
All manufacturers 20 years were utilizing fuel hoses not compatible with ethanol, not just MV Agusta. If your bike was produced before the introduction of ethanol simply replace the fuel hose to modern ethanol resistant hose. AMV love your videos and was researching an F3 as wanted one badly. Sadly the unreliability of the motors turned me off. Seeing as they shall be replacing Triumph as the engine supplier for Moto 2, I'm looking forward to reliability gains so I can justify a purchase. Best of luck.
Glad you’re enjoying the videos. Yeah, ethanol is horrible which is why I advised anyone in a country with ethanol to check their tanks, regardless of the make. Here in the US we’ve had to deal with it since the 70’s so 40+ years at this point. Just another thing to worry about. Newer F3s are supposed to be more reliable. We’ll see over time, since I have my new engine. But even if they’re more reliable, MVs parts delivery and customer service is so horrible I have a had time recommending them to anyone but the most patient of masochists.
Yes, once I got the parts it only took a few hours start to finish and then I was back on the road. Much quicker and cheaper than towing it to a shop and having them do it!
@@amv_moto its always cheaper to do it yourself rather then the shop. Especially since the shop charges a lot for MVs to get worked on. Im at 12,700 miles on my bike now, only had for a few months & bough it when i had 1,611 miles on it. I daily my MV, & it runs so well. Doing oil change on Tuesday at OC Motorcycles. I need a new gear sensor, when im in 6th gear it bugs out a bit & says im in 1st, N, 4th, 6. So gotta get that part ordered.
@@amv_moto I got a 2003 Aprilia RSV MILLE right now with only 13k miles but insurance is stupidddd high so opting towards another classic Italian bike besides a Ducati lol
Same issue in Europe, 5-10% ethanol in all pump gas. Replaced my 2001 BMW F650GS Dakar fuel pump because of a simular issue. In-tank pump with all rubber things dissolved. New pump was ethanol proofed, the original one not.
so to sum it up, MV Agusta can not survive on the U.S. soils And thanks for all your videos, as much as I wanted the f3 now I think i need to move to a different country before I buy it
LOL. Well, ethanol is in 98% of the gas in the US, so you definitely have to be careful with any bike with an in-tank fuel pump. Definitely something to keep an eye on. Glad you're enjoying the videos.
Im doing the same thing on my suzuki sv650. Sucks. And worst of all my fuel filter is gummied up and now i need a new fuel filter and fuel lines. I got some evapo rust to get the rust out and it works like a charm. Still waiting on some parts, maybe next week to get all fixed
Another video, spot on, thanks for the upload. You did a great job with the fuel pump, looks brand new. I live in the UK, I haven’t had any fuel issues on my F4 750 so far but I have only owned it for a year or so, we will see what happens with time! Your MV sounds great by the way! Did you manage to get your fairings fixed ? I hope it wasn’t too expensive 👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed the video. As long as you can avoid ethanol you should be OK. Yes, the engine sounds 1000x better now that I have that fuel problem solved. My new decals are supposed to come in this week and then I'll be able to get it repainted - hopefully in the next few weeks. The total cost won't be cheap but I'll be sure to go over it in a future video.
Brilliant cheers mines been stood a while and just went to start and its lumpy , I was going to change my marked silver tank for a mint spare anyway , I'm in the UK our fuels the same wonder if theres an additive you can add ? if the reddex injector cleaner would help trouble here is our winters and fuel goes off. Shame we can't buy good old 4 star petrol anymore , avgas would also be an alternative. Cheers Chris Do you know if the silver MV 750f4 are rear I was told there were only 300 made ?
Yes, if you're running ethanol you definitely want to check your tank just to make sure it's not eaten away at your fuel hoses. Based on my experience, the early MVs didn't use ethanol-resistant hoses. I haven't heard of any additives that'll neutralize that corrosive effect but I wish there were. For sure it's worth it to seek our pure gas if you can. Unfortunately here in California it's really hard to find. Yes, I also read that there were only 300 all-silver F4 750s made and I actually prefer that look to the red/silver ones so I was really lucky to find mine. Good luck with yours and ride safe!
Jeesus, that is soo bad that in the US there are so many gas station, where you can only buy Gas with Ethanol. In EU, specially in Hungary where i live, there are just a few place where they only sell Gas with Ethanol.
Make sure to be careful with the quick realise fuel connectors? They become very brittle after 10 years or so & snap! Can get Alloy one's, much better!
For sure! My original plastic connectors cracked at 5k miles and I replaced them with metal ones that have lasted 30k+ miles so far. This is one of the first upgrades I recommend to new F4 owners.
I think do a really good job 👍 in informing the community of the factual realities of maintains an F4. I would like to request if you might be able to shed some light on the production #s of these silver Diamonte models. I’ve been looking for a super clean , well maintained example to buy.
I've read they only made 300 all silver F4's total so they can be hard to find since they're so rare. I heard of someone looking for one and getting so frustrated they just bought a low mileage red/silver one and had it repainted all silver. The good thing is that most MV owners don't put a lot of miles on their bikes so there are a lot of clean F4's out there. Good luck finding one!
Thank you kindly for the information. I suppose I’ll be looking for the silver paint code. It really looks like a different bike in your color scheme if diamanté silver
That's good news! From what I've been able to find, the closest station to me that sells pure gas is ~25 miles (40 km) away which is not exactly convenient.

Definitely a hassle but less of a hassle than replacing all the hoses in your F4’s fuel tank. Have fun and ride safe!

Ethanol is THE WORST. Hopefully, I'll be all set for a while now that I've got the ethanol resistant hose in there. Fingers crossed!

Glad to hear your bike is almost back up and running. I got lucky that my fuel pump wasn't ruined too. Ethanol is the worst.

Ha! No problem. Hopefully my video helped you. I'm sure your video helped a lot of new owners who've never removed their tank.

I do have one gas station by me that has ethanol free!

I need a new gas level sensor lol found out the hard way
Ouch. That sounds like a bad day!
Buy a Japanese bike. No problem for ever
