    I remember James Hetfield heard this album before it was popular, and he put them on the map when he said “Ghost is a breath of fresh air…” in an interview.

    Siamo Con Clavi, Siamo Con Dio, Siamo Con Il Nostro Dio Scuro
    translates to
    We are with nails, We are with God, We are with our Dark Lord

    More GHOST! Yes, play the track leading into the song. It sets the mood of the full song.

      I agree. You don't even have to use a video, just play the music on your phone or computer. The intro and outro songs especially are important for the whole theme of each album. Some even lead into the next song or are worked into another song on the album...they're all tied together in some way.

    I listen to this album daily. I also listen to ALL the albums daily while I work. Yes, they sound different. And that's why I love this band. Because I dig bands that keep writing great songs no matter what genre they're in.

  • @magnusblomqvist966

    Fun fact: Deus Culpa is actually the Swedish Psalm "Betlehems Stjärna" (The Star of Betlehem) played backwards. It's the only track of the first four albums that never (for obvious reasons) been played live.

    • @neuralmute
      @neuralmute 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I love the fact that if you play a Ghost album backwards, you really DO get Christian music! XD Tobias cracks me up.
      I don't think Zenith has ever been played live, but since it's technically not an album track does it count?

  • @absea7918
    @absea7918 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Tobias sings the latin parts for the outro when they do the song live. They did this song during the last tour (2022). The production style was supposed to sound like it was a "lost" underground/black metal album from the 70'/80's. When this came out, everyone was questioning what it was all about. Ghost has moved forward with each album - and some people wish they wouldn't.

    I'm not 100% on this, but I'm pretty sure that this album is pretty much just Tobias Forge, a drummer, and some really decent production for a project that they had no idea would take off like it has! But you can hear all the Ghost "basics" here - the catchy melodies and sweet harmonies, solid rhythm section, fun time and key changes, church organ, and of course, lots of Satan.

  • @chuckthefreak
    @chuckthefreak 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Here we go. Lucifer! Most interludes are the setup to the next song. No one likes change...Ghost changes from album to album...On purpose, to build nostalgia. Like the Papa's changing you long for the version you love the most. Most of the interesting guitar parts in Ghost are the play of the two guitars together.

    It was so cool hearing this right after Cardinal Copia ascended to Emeritus IV in Mexico. The shift from ABBA's "Arrival" and bright, angelic lights, to the red lights and the demonic bass riff was just epic

    The person you hear in the backgroud of the main part at the start and end isn't tobias its actually one of the nameless ghouls (Swiss i think hes the back up vocals)

  • @mayagriz8393

    Yes to interludes. Do them together with the following song instead of just doing the interlude. Great reaction as always. 😁🤘

    True story, we named our dog after that first line! Lucy-Furrrr! 😆
    If you want to save the brief interlude pieces for a future personal listen, that would be cool. The only instrumentals I can think of that really could stand to have their own reaction are Miasma and Helvetesfönster from the 4th album as they are full songs. Enjoy the full Ghost journey, my friend! NEMA! 🤘

    Also, being new to your channel and having watched some of your other Ghost reactions I'd like to help provide some more info. The "chapters" that you've referred to are like short lore skits on the official Ghost channel that started during the Prequelle album I believe. Definitely good additional reaction content for when you get to Prequelle or if you just want to watch them on your own. I remember you asked about the guitars that the newer ghouls played. Those are the Hagstrom Fantomen guitars that Tobias Forge and former ghoul Martin Persner helped design. I own one and can confirm they are pretty fucking sick 🤘. Aside from that, you've asked about who Tobias Forge is and he's actually done a few interviews with Loudwire that I find really cool if you ever want to take a look at those. Ghost is one of my absolute favorite bands not just for the music but also because they're so fun. Hopefully you feel inclined to go down the Ghost rabbit hole or attend one of their concerts so that you also experience the joy that they've brought to me and many others

  • @basedsatan
    @basedsatan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    You should put interlude songs in the same reaction as the song directly after them

  • @IRanOutOfPhrases
    @IRanOutOfPhrases 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    First albums frequently just have that special charm, right? Bands won't quite have the funds/resources to put all the bells and whistles on their recordings, which generally lends it self to having that raw feel. I'm guessing part of that might be why after a couple albums, the fan base shifts. A band starts being able to put more time into the album, losing that original feel that captured the first batch of fans. Kind of a half-baked theory, but I feel like with just about every artist I'm super into, it always ends up being a case of the first album or two having much different production quality versus the rest of their work.
    Anyway, this song is such a banger, and great for playing loud. If I were the arena DJ for the New Jersey Devils, the first minute of this song is what I'd be blasting right as the team takes the ice before puckdrop.
    But glad you dug this one so quickly. It will be interesting to see how the rest of this goes. One thing I haven't seen you run into yet is Ghost also seems to have a way of creating songs where you hear it and go, "Eh. That was ok." But then next thing you know, you're playing it on loop all day because its the best song in the whole catalogue.

  • @ronaldorodriguez104
    @ronaldorodriguez104 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    It's hard to say with the interludes since some of them lead into the next song. Having just checked, the most important ones I'd say are Infestissumam into Per Aspera and Bite Of Passage into Respite On The Spitalfields on their newest album. I understand people saying to listen to them because they set the mood but honestly for what you're doing I think it's completely fine if you save the others for when you listen to the albums on your own time

    My feelings on Opus are that you could find it as a cassette amongst your old Sabbath tapes and you would 100% assume it came from the same era. They even offer cassette versions of most of their albums.

    @matt-oo6fu 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Yeah, old Ghost was VERY in-your-face satanist. they've toned it down significantly, but unfortunately also left behind their old metal sound that I loved. I still like their style NOW, but I really love the first two albums the best.

  • @malichan21
    @malichan21 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I don’t know who sings it on the album but for concerts one of the backup singers sings
    Siamo con clavi, siamo con Dio
    Siamo con il nostro Dio scuro
    After the first verse and then repeats at the end

    Opus Eponymous - Sung by our first leader of the clergy Papa 1 the oldest of the 3 brothers. This album is written and sung for Satan to give us the antichrist. Examples of Praising Satan (Stand by Him),(Satan Prayer), and prophesying the birth of the antichrist ie (Prime Mover)
    Infestissumam - sung by Papa 2 the middle brother and ladies man and devil Stan, he is a womanizer and overall the kinkiest. This album is the birth of the antichrist and his effects on the earth. (SECULAR HAZE) which by design was meant to give the feeling right before death a sound which you get throughout the entirety of the song. (Jigolo har Megiddo) is literally just papa 2 talking about how much he sleeps around.
    Meliora - sung by Papa 3 the youngest of the 3 brothers total sex icon for all people and a little bit to into himself. This album is about a New Beginning or Fresh start per say he said the name of the album is a play on multiple things but ultimately means “brand new”. Many bangers in this album and will go further into it when you get to this album.
    Prequelle - “The Black Plague” is upon us and Cardinal Copia has been granted control by sister imperator the blonde chick from kiss the go goat and dance macabre. We got rid of Papa 3 because he went the “pope star” tour and the clergy didn’t like it and killed him.
    Impera - “fall of empires” sung by Papa 4 still Cardinal Copia he just got officially promoted to Papa during a show in Mexico. This album was a direct parallel to the cycles we as human go through ie the 1920s and 2020s and the savage world which was brought to us after the plague / pandemic.
    Hope this helps you appreciate GHOST just a little bit more and makes listening to the music that much more enjoyable. Keep killing it love the reactions!

    • @jonathansnbr
      @jonathansnbr 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Almost forgot :
      Seven Inches of Satanic Panic - PAPA NIEL ie Papa 0 was created by that chick in dance macabre and went on to form a Satanic band in 1969 and he gave us a release of his two biggest singles from back then.

      I don't know if I'd call Papa 3 *entirely* a ladies' man - the way he started fondling his ghouls onstage, I always thought of him as more of a disaster bisexual. He really seemed to have a thing for Omega's legs... Not that 3 wasn't into the ladies, he just seemed to more be into anything that had a pulse.

    What happened with Life Eternal? Placed in the back cause you decided to do their albums chronologically? This ballad easily beats He Is imo
