kinda says it in the title, camden underworld in London, didnt get to see them again after this till i won tickets to see them play with gojira a couple years later in brixton but turns out they played a bunch of shows before the one in this video in germany and around europe i later found out. @@karentzzz was cool to think i had been at their first show. most likely was their first uk gig though which is still pretty cool imo.

Shit. Imagine playing one of your first gigs with a band you're not sure is going to work, but when you get up on stage people KNOW your songs and SING ALONG to them. They must've known they had something right at that moment. Beautiful footage!

They played together in bands like Subvision and Magna Carta Cartel and that is where Ghost started...Tobias Forge with Omega and Alpha meaning Martin Persner and Simon Söderberg... and now on the latest tour there were 7 new bandmembers from other countries and it´s sad to see that friendship change so much that you actually want to sue the person you once started the band with and that you can´t come up with a fair agreement and Tobias says to all the media that Martin and Simon were just "hired musicians"...like they didn´t know each other from the past...that is greedy and pretty shameful I think...you don´t sue anyone for no serious reason and involve expensive lawyers unless there is a very big deal....at least not in Sweden....they had an oral agreement in the past but this is a lesson to always write a contract/deal because you never know how the future will turn out. I hope that the now hired musicians have written contracts and are payed per gig as it should be for the hard work they put in for every concert.

It is difficult to change bandmembers as much as Ghost did year after year but to say to everyone that they didn´t know each other from the beginning when Ghost started is a real LIE. Reminds me of my first Ghost show, just a few years before they started gathering crowds and you could literally walk around the half empty venue getting a look at this crazy weird and fucking awesome band. I'm so glad he's a success, but I miss those old, dark shows. It was something very special, like you had this amazing secret that other people wouldn't understand, even when you played the music for them.
In 2016, they played a large festival (Hellfest, which is on YT), and they were still able to have that dark atmosphere at such a large “venue.” Now? Forge has destroyed that with his commercial leanings and replacing all of the original Ghouls. Music is okay but not close to what they had before. Congrats to Forge for destroying a good thing.

There are a lot of interviews on line about this About the replacement, where to start? Whoever has the truth in the conflict, you have to replace no matter what. It would have been impossible to stay that way after all what happened. Imagine that original ghouls are guilty; they are the responsibles for destroying that atmosphere. We'll never know. Again, is matter of opinion, but for me, his big mistake was firing Persner. Him alone. Instrumentally they were superior with the ex ghouls till 2017. But now the incorporate more vocals (really good ones), and scenery and whatsoever, to complemet really good instrumental, not excellent, but really good A different kind of atmosphere, not better or worse, but still devilish and such. And about the music, his idea was to not to repeat the previous works, even Martin P. himself said that, specially in the lyrics. It is all subjective, and difficult to please everyone.
As an unpopular opinion, IMO yes THIS was the darkest, creepiest era, trying to lure you with the unknowns, and every papa has been an evolution on how to lure masses of people Incidentally this is a reflection of art, Gothic, romanticism, 1920's impressionist films, goofy 60's, sarcastic 70's and party 80's

Charlie Gray Ghost is metal tho,there first album especially.Meliora was damn near close to rock tho.Ghost is mix between doom metal and just heavy metal.
Black sabbath is widely considered the godfathers of heavy metal, ghost is just as metal. They have heavy riffs and guitars tuned down, both staples of metal, and planty of metal bands use keyboards. As for the vocals go, tobias sings instead of screaming that doesnt exclude him from the metal world, ozzy sang instead of screaming (plus all the lyrics are evil as hell and satanic).
Except on the Opus/Infest eras Ghost was good, then it went downhill. Meliora is an amazing pop rock album, but not OG Ghost, no doomish riffs, no dark atmosphere. $$$ speaks too loud for Tobias. Sueprised he's not selling his old Repugnant stuff, as I really want some merch I know he still has stashed
I don't understand the hate Ghost gets. Yes, the first album was amazing but aren't they all? Each papa was able to bring out their contribution to the band. The hate is unnecessary guys. Let's just enjoy this amazing band.

I think Ghost reached its artistic and musical peak on Meliora, and after hearing Martin’s (Omega) band MCC, I don’t buy that he didn’t contribute to the musical output of this band. There are too many similarities. That said, I also love the new stuff and I saw Ghost last month with Volbeat and the show was amazing. It’s a different thing now and I don’t hate on it at all. The new song “Kaisarion” is one of their best yet.

Tobias said in an interview that the show they did before this one in Germany was harsh. They were green and not sure what to do and the crowd was ready to tear them a new one. Then he said when they got to the UK and did this show people were eating it up and they started to really have fun. Glad to see that very performance.

I absolutely love how you can hear both the future of ghost and the past of his other bands in this ritual. like especially during con clavi con dio you can hear the same vocal pattern and tone that tobias used in subvision. and then you have his little growls from repugnant, and ofc the same sound that ghost has now 13 years later. absolutely stunning 😩

From the start to right now, Ghost has always been an extremely professional band. No fails, no problems. Just perfect live performances, brilliant shows and great music!
What would I do to see Ghost in such a club for once. My first concert was 2017 in a medium sized venue. Nothing against the current phase with pyro and theatrics but the first album is SO damn evil, i love it.
It makes me sad we can never have all three Papas on stage, like an evil Three Tenors. It would be so awesome. (Well, technically, I suppose we could, but y'know....)

Awwwwwwwweeeeeesome AF! Thanks for posting. I could bite my own back that I only discovered Ghost in 2017. They are still awsome to this day and of course a million miles more professional than but this was so much more intense.
I was never so excited for a band to come on as that night, completely in love with the band from Fenriz's band of the week thing, a great day of metal and then Ghost on with full regalia. We were all singing along so loudly and badly. I hope some other Live Evil 1 folk see this. Was such a good weekend but they were the best band in my mind.

I really did like them, but put your feeling in this...if you didn't get paid on your job for a very long time, and you knew your boss had the money to pay you, wouldn't you be pissed? Not to mention, these guys were friends, so add being stabbed in the back by your friend. Would you not be angry? Would you still want to support a liar & thief?
First lets not forget what Ghost wants for us as fans. Enjoy the music instead of focusing on what happens behind the mask, lets respect that. I don't think it's necessarily that bad though. If it was as bad as most people are making out to be, I'm sure there would've been a more difficult time finding replacement members. No one would join if they knew they weren't going to get paid. I think the drama is more personal. Not to mention, this proves that Tobias is the mastermind behind everything ghost. He had a reason to fire everyone. He intended to have rotating members from the beginning similar to how often there is a new Papa. Also there have been previous line up changes before the firing of the whole band. It's gotta be more than just ripping them off, no one would want to work with him. The new ghouls seem to be having great time.

I will leave you a personal observation, why would you continue to record, tour, and perform for years while not getting paid? these are grown seasoned musicians who would certainly know better.

After a while, they asked to see the financial reports & Tobias refused. They had allowed him to manage the bands funds. Tobias' refusal is why the ghouls quit & filed the lawsuit. They were heartbroken their dear friend had betrayed them. Put yourself in their perspective & you should concur with their feelings.

"Improved" as a front man I agree with. But the old live shows are so much better. Mysterious. Evil. Now it's just a meme fest.. and none of the band are the originals.. it's a theatrical solo project now that plays some of the songs I love. Impera is also an incredibly poor album. I used to love every single Ghost song.. off that album there's about 3.5 songs I like
@@Wagoo i guess it just depends on why you started listening to/ watching them. They’ve changed genres quite a bit, i’m a newer fan and I love this era of them, and while i do like the earlier eras a lot they’re not for me as much. So i can definitely see if you started listening to them expecting them to keep the scary persona why you’d be disappointed, but i think it makes them a lot more fun and interesting to see them change so much, it keeps it from feeling stagnant or AS gimmicky

Having only discovered this band about a year ago (courtesy of a dear friend and Swedish Witch) I thank you for posting this! I was reading an article on Ghost on Kerrang, and they linked to this! What a blast it must have been there for this! Awesome! 🤘🏻 I love that the costumes are by necessity hand made and low budget, but the songs are awesome (of course I have Eponymous 😈) and the performance, that opening, the whole thing just worked! It still does!

It was a little unusual as they wrote , recorded, and released their first album before any real gigs. At least that is my understanding.

Woah that first album is really damn good. People kind of write it off due to the production but damn...heavy, dark, catchy...remarkable. They need to go back to playing more of it.
It's my favorite album of theirs. And even maybe favorite album any band has put out. Every song is catchy, well written, and heavy.

Yea I honestly prefer their darker side. After the first 2 albums the band kind of went from an eerie doom metal feel to an arena rock act.
It's cause they couldn't move and seeing was very hard.

I absolutely love how you can hear both the future of ghost and the past of his other bands in this ritual. like especially during con clavi con dio you can hear the same vocal pattern and tone that tobias used in subvision. and then you have his little growls from repugnant, and ofc the same sound that ghost has now 13 years later. absolutely stunning 😩

What would I do to see Ghost in such a club for once. My first concert was 2017 in a medium sized venue. Nothing against the current phase with pyro and theatrics but the first album is SO damn evil, i love it.

I was reading something that said papa IV is "disgusted" by papa emeritus III and his "rockstar" attitude. And the next Papa will be a throwback to this one and the next album will be super heavy.

I could bite my own back that I only discovered Ghost in 2017. They are still awsome to this day and of course a million miles more professional than but this was so much more intense.
I was never so excited for a band to come on as that night, completely in love with the band from Fenriz's band of the week thing, a great day of metal and then Ghost on with full regalia. We were all singing along so loudly and badly. I hope some other Live Evil 1 folk see this. Was such a good weekend but they were the best band in my mind.
The low budget and small venue make it even more creepy and scary and like a real underground ritual!
Tobias, Simon and Martin name more iconic trio, I miss them so much

I really did like them, but put your feeling in this...if you didn't get paid on your job for a very long time, and you knew your boss had the money to pay you, wouldn't you be pissed? Not to mention, these guys were friends, so add being stabbed in the back by your friend. Would you not be angry? Would you still want to support a liar & thief?
First lets not forget what Ghost wants for us as fans. Enjoy the music instead of focusing on what happens behind the mask, lets respect that. I don't think it's necessarily that bad though. If it was as bad as most people are making out to be, I'm sure there would've been a more difficult time finding replacement members. No one would join if they knew they weren't going to get paid. I think the drama is more personal. Not to mention, this proves that Tobias is the mastermind behind everything ghost. He had a reason to fire everyone. He intended to have rotating members from the beginning similar to how often there is a new Papa. Also there have been previous line up changes before the firing of the whole band. It's gotta be more than just ripping them off, no one would want to work with him. The new ghouls seem to be having great time.
Rhonda Minor at this point this is case of he said he said. nobody knows the whole truth. personally I don't about band politics, it's none of my business. as long as the music continues to speak to me I will continue to listen and support. as a Kiss fan I had to learn how to separate the public image from the private image. I will leave you a personal observation, why would you continue to record, tour, and perform for years while not getting paid? these are grown seasoned musicians who would certainly know better.
miguel arreola Granted, they are seasoned professionals but they were also friends, first & foremost. They trusted Tobias. He lied to them saying the band wasn't making money. After a while, they asked to see the financial reports & Tobias refused. They had allowed him to manage the bands funds. Tobias' refusal is why the ghouls quit & filed the lawsuit. They were heartbroken their dear friend had betrayed them. Put yourself in their perspective & you should concur with their feelings.

"Improved" as a front man I agree with. But the old live shows are so much better. Mysterious. Evil. Now it's just a meme fest.. and none of the band are the originals.. it's a theatrical solo project now that plays some of the songs I love. Impera is also an incredibly poor album. I used to love every single Ghost song.. off that album there's about 3.5 songs I like
@@Wagoo i guess it just depends on why you started listening to/ watching them. They’ve changed genres quite a bit, i’m a newer fan and I love this era of them, and while i do like the earlier eras a lot they’re not for me as much. So i can definitely see if you started listening to them expecting them to keep the scary persona why you’d be disappointed, but i think it makes them a lot more fun and interesting to see them change so much, it keeps it from feeling stagnant or AS gimmicky

I've pondered this for band longevity but how to do it via the time line. Some of this Sister this etc has become comic and laughable. But isn't it ALL comic and fun deep down as long as not becoming a parody of themselves? A resurrection of Papa 1 from some incarnation of Dantes Nine Circles of Hell...mankind hasn't suffered near enough here on Earth. Going DOWN one hellish floor at a time.
Having only discovered this band about a year ago (courtesy of a dear friend and Swedish Witch) I thank you for posting this! I was reading an article on Ghost on Kerrang, and they linked to this! What a blast it must have been there for this! Awesome! 🤘🏻 I love that the costumes are by necessity hand made and low budget, but the songs are awesome (of course I have Eponymous 😈) and the performance, that opening, the whole thing just worked! It still does!
