The Key-tar is the star of this song! Mummy Dust is like Snake Oil. something you are selling that has no real value or benefit. "in God We Trust" its on our money....or our Mummy Dust. Wait till you see it live.
The live version, ESPECIALLY the 2022 live version, is sooooo heavy and fun. And Tobias goes full death metal with the vocals, not this diet version on the album. But the reason I recommend the 2022 version is the ghoul synth solo is the best in 2022.
Definitely a favorite of mine, too! I was about 8 feet from the stage on the Popestar tour. The confetti cannon fires off during the keytar solo. I scored a $666 bill with Papa III on it. 😎
Watching live preformances of this is life changing experience hahaha. Makes you fall in love with papa and nameless ghouls and ghoullettes. It's super cool and captivating song
That "cleaning the living room" joke killed ME hahahaha I'm glad you like Mummy dust! definitely one of my favorites (although I say that about almost every Ghost song, tbh). The keytar here sounds awesome, but please check out the live version!!!
I'd love to see you react still to the live version of this one, is one of my favorite ones and, Even if the vocals aren't as clear in most lives, They put a really good show in it, I think you'll enjoy it
Haha can’t unsee that image of a baby papa watching his mum dust the house now 😂😂😂 This track is about money so they shoot Ghost themed money over the crowd when they do this live. Tobias said in Sweden ‘mummy dust’ is a common expression parents use with their kids when cooking and such, as in ‘sprinkling some mummy dust’ into the recipe. So when he says mummy dust he’s saying money is nothing, it’s invisible bullshit. I’d never heard the phrase before so I was always thinking of Boris Karloff shit haha. The live videos are awesome, but the live version from the Ceremony and Devotion live album is definately worth checking out, as well as Monstrance Clock from that album, preferably with the lead in of Tobias talking and i ntroducing the track which starts at the end of the previous track. That version made me fall in love with Monstrance Clock way more. What a concert closer.
I'm not sure if anyone has brought it up yet but there is a song that was only released on a box set vinyl from this album that isn't on spotify or apple music called Zenith. There is a video up on youtube of it and I would love to see you react to it, its one of my favorites of theirs.
To answer your question, Tobias is saying "In God we trust", as is written on American money. The "mummy dust" in question is money and earthly wealth - the stuff that was buried with mummies because the Egyptians thought they could take it with them. We know we can't but still people still hoard more wealth than they could spend in 100 lifetimes. This song's a comment on that. During this song at live shows, they shoot "mummy dust" fake money with Papa's face on it out of cannons. Still got some from the last time I saw them!
To me, I substitute "mummy Dust" with "My ass"...so Is like saying: in God you trust, My ass" hahshs.. is all about the greed and lust for money, nothing to do with god.. Money is their money. Lol!
I think this one is a strong contender: m.th-cam.com/video/OLsUJf2ylZA/w-d-xo.html The video and audio quality is great and the actual performance is spot on
That's a keytar! One of the keyboardist walks in on stage with one and she plays the hell out of it!
Yeah he's gotta check out the live version for sure
Original made by Airghoul 🤘
Ghoulette ❤

She kicks so much ass on that keytar.
This song is on another level when it’s live. They are the best to see live. It’s a whole other band.
Experiencing the keytar solo live and/or what Papa does during this song live will change you're life. Facts.
Check both versions, this and the live one, almost feels like different songs because Tobias does growling vocals
Now I can't unsee the baby Emeritus in his crib saying "my mummy dust" all creepy. Thank you.
Definitely a favorite of mine, too! I was about 8 feet from the stage on the Popestar tour. The confetti cannon fires off during the keytar solo. I scored a $666 bill with Papa III on it. 😎
fun fact, that solo you heard in the song is a keytar. you wondered if it was synth or guitar, well i guess you could say it was both :D
Watching live preformances of this is life changing experience hahaha. Makes you fall in love with papa and nameless ghouls and ghoullettes. It's super cool and captivating song
I second this, did twice already , brutal 👌
That "cleaning the living room" joke killed ME hahahaha

“What’s your favorite Ghost song?”
Me: What song am I listening to right now?
I'd love to see you react still to the live version of this one, is one of my favorite ones and, Even if the vocals aren't as clear in most lives, They put a really good show in it, I think you'll enjoy it
"this song is about a deity. One you all know very well. A deity you know as, money" - Papa Emeritus III
Hence the "In God You Trust".
Tobias is an incredible song writer...The quantity of quality songs is amazing!
Haha can’t unsee that image of a baby papa watching his mum dust the house now 😂😂😂

I'm so in love with this guy's reaction to Mummy Dust
Thank you haha
Every time I clean house now I am gonna say "My Mummy Dust". Good stuff!
"Papa falls off stage" the supreme version.
Or any version with "Great Audio" There's some pro recorded but no video I don't think :p
If no one has said it yet - the melody that plays through Spoksonat is the same as the ending heavy riff in Rats.
OMG I can’t get the image out of my head of a tiny papa saying “ My Mummy Dust” 😂😂😂🤣
Loved this video. Other than songs, I think you should definitely watch interviews of Tobias and deep dives about the lore.
I opened TH-cam hoping for a brand new video from you and surprisingly you just posted this three minutes ago!! Way to make my morning!!
Cleaning the living room!?
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Awesome reaction sir
Love from Baltimore MD 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
I like this live version of Mummy Dust. It's a full concert video, but the audio and video are great quality.

this +1 best audio quality

Yeaaa haha its highly requested one…ill be getting to it for sure
Once in a generation. #4 in my 56 years of listening to music. That list includes The Beatles, Bowie and Zappa.
Love the keytar
WE LOVE THE GHOST REACTIONS!!!
🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Mummy Dust is the European (Scandinavian especially) equivalent of "snake oil".
Next up Majesty! My favorite 👌You'll love Absolution too 😁
It’s a Keytar!!!! I was so stoked when I saw this live.
Gosh, 'my mummy dust' baby joke is absolutely fucking hilarious xDD
Their live version is really good actually!
That's hilarious! I'm gonna picture a toddler Papa saying that from now on. 🤣
Mummy Dust really is a killer track, and such a banger live. 🤘
Well we finally got here!
This is my favourite live of this song th-cam.com/video/r8CekVHI7ZA/w-d-xo.html
The audio It's very clear and my girl smash the keytar solo 🤘🏻
There is an OFFICIAL LIVE version it’s the ceremony album that’s their concert recorded on their TH-cam
Spöksonat: Listen to the hard riff at the very end of Rats and compare.
Oh and the solo is a fucking keytar (haven't seen one since the 80's lol). Laura kills playing it live, taking the front stage like a true rockstar.
Best part is each ghoulet plays that solo little bit differently.
Spoksonat is exactly become the ending riff of Rats tho lol, its so obvious and nothing wrong about it tho
Recycling your own melody
I always thought mummy dust = "old and dried up", cause Papa made a joke on that theme before this song at a show lol

😂 My Mommy Dust😅
One of the better live versions of mummy dust is here at around the 55th minute mark.

Hint, a song ending you seem to like quite a lot ;-)
He's singing "In God you trust"
this video is currently at 420 likes. Nice 👍
Listen to Repugnant also Tobias sing in that band, is death metal btw
They must be out of cool riffs now right? Fires up Absolution...
In god we trust
Here is ShowMeTime capture of Ghost Mummy Dust th-cam.com/video/JsdHq9PEPxE/w-d-xo.html

Gotts watch the live version ,
its actually keytar solo. Lmao
I think this one is a strong contender:
m.th-cam.com/video/OLsUJf2ylZA/w-d-xo.html
The video and audio quality is great and the actual performance is spot on
When Copia did this live the epic guitar riff was even better than this
The gimmick is, we're doing evil.
EVIL!
"If there's a killer guitar solo...."
Lol FOOL
Haha, I'm also always misshear lyrics. Panama was 'Had enough' , for a very long time 🤣
