That's a stereotype that's quickly being washed away. In today's time, German cars have relatively similar build quality to Korean car manufacturers as well as Lexus, a Japanese brand.
@Jack Wood Nowadays, many of the German cars especially Mercedes and BMW are consistently ranked at the top for highest annual maintenance costs. That means they're in the shop getting fixed a lot especially after several years of ownership. They're simply not as well made or long lasting like their older versions back in the late 80s/90s/early 00's. Albert Biermann who was former VP of BMW's M line is now in charge of R&D at Hyundai/KIA and was responsible for the Stinger and the N line Veloster. The head of their design department used to work for Bentley hence the reason why the quality of materials inside have improved drastically. Koreans finally wised up and hired the European competition to spice up their vehicles and it's working...very well judging by their recent sales uptick.

Korean companies are doing great these days. Japanese were great in the 80s 90s and 2000s but not anymore. The Korean manufacturers are absolutely outperforming the old Japanese in many ways. I wasn't the biggest fan of the Korean products before but seriously who is still going for Sony these days when Samsung and LG does so much better in every aspects. Talking about the cars.. Kia, Hyundai and Genesis is far more innovative than Toyata, Mazda, Nissan, and Lexus these days.
Yup and Kia is working its guts out to win you over in design, technology, driveability. Are all the other car makers working this hard? Cheers Richard
No tech, other than self driving, is really that complex in the grand scheme. The fact that for some reason luxury brands feel it is okay to charge an extra 2-3K for a 360 camera is just because "we are luxury, so we charge w.e we want"

Picked up our GT Line diesel yesterday. 100% agree with the review. It is a great car, loads of tech, great cameras, drives well, seems a little thirsty (getting 9.5km/l in my first day driving around the city), loads of room for us. I drive an AMG GLC43 to and from work. Kia is certainly making it hard to justify buying another Mercedes, BMW or Audi from a quality, cost, warranty and package perspective (albeit I can't give up that GLC43 engine!). Very happy with this car after the first 24 hours.
Mick Wallace 100%. It’s already down to 8.2L per 100km. Done about 30% highway kms in that. It gets 5.8L sitting on the freeway. Still very happy with the car after having it for three weeks now. Best car dollar for dollar we’ve bought.

I have the 2017 Platinum...I previously owned a 2010 SS Sports wagon.. The change to A KIA was out of the blue as I would never have considered a KIA. I Was looking for an SUV and narrowed the search down to KIA, HYUNDAI and MAZDA, based on reliability, performance and package. I drove all three and settled on the Sorrento. I have never had an issue with this vehicle and it was a smart purchase. My issue with the current model is I prefer the smooth look of the previous model. So I have to disagree with the view of the guide. To me it is too fussy and looks more like the Sportage..Anyway, most will disagree with me..but will now have second thoughts about upgrading...

Most likely my next car! I´ve had Ceed and Sportage from kia before and they both had over 500000+km driven on them and everything still worked like a charm. Reliable, good to drive and stylish with a great price. I must also add that I live in a country with a lot of snow and freezing tempetures and the Kia´s had no problem working in tough conditions. How can you beat that?

Great review mate, Im waiting for the PIH being a company car driver. After having decided on the Volvo XC40, this has really turned my head and its a tough decision. It could come down to the badge, but in terms of kerb appeal, this has it in buckets. Cheers
Wow! Nice car. And an entertaining review. I want to replace my Honda CR-V and have been looking at the Telluride and the Seltos. I Love The Telluride AWD 3.8 V6 in wolf grey, moss green, or black, but I don’t need a 7-8 seater car and the Seltos is about the right size for my needs/wants. But I find myself wanting this new Sorento cuz it looks so nice inside and out. And for the US, Kia America plans on offering a hybrid 1.6 turbo four with around 230 hp and the new 2.5 turbo 4 with around 290 hp. And I’ve read reviews that the new wet 8 speed DCT is a huge improvement over their old 7 speed dry DCT. And what do you know, the Seltos 1.6 turbo AWD is considered one of the quickest cars in its segment, but is offered only with the old 7 speed dry DCT. I read they made improvements to the 7 speed dry DCT, but I wish it had the new wet 8 speed DCT. Went to the Kia dealer and felt like a kid in a candy store. They had twin turbo Stingers, Tellurides, funky cool Soul turbos, Seltos turbos, new K5 GT-Line, Forte GT, and soon the new Sorento. I couldn’t believe I was lusting after so many new cars at one dealership. A Kia dealership, no less. All with reasonable prices and great warranties. Over the last 20 yrs I have bought 3 new MBs, 2 new BMWs, and 1 new Honda. My next new car will probably be a Telluride or new Sorento. The new K5 is shockingly nice and the Kona N will undoubtedly blow my socks off, but at almost 50 yrs of age, I have been spoiled by the easy ingress/egress of a compact CUV.
Hi, just picked up GT-line yesterday. Noticed the right reverse light was not working and took it to the dealer. Dealer tells me it’s normal that only one reverse light on left supposed to work while the other on right is fog light. Is this normal? Plus, ‘GT-line’ badge was missing in back of the car and is back order. Can you advise? Could this be destined for Europe???
Do you get the Explorer in Australia? Because more so than just the Mustang and taillights, it's very much the image of the Explorer on the whole of the rear end styling.
Volkswagen make excellent cars and the quality feels superb in a Tiguan and Touareg, but a Kia Sorento is is going to cost you less to maintain in servicing. Cheers Richard
@@carsguide agreee and all this stuff needs be factored in i guess as the mrsp is similar, we are thinking sorrento, kodiak or tiguan . Cheers, great reviews, good humour and format.
It is still a Kia. I owned Sportage with maximum equipment level, in the end it was difficult to sell, 7 year warranty was used once, and they blaimed the car faults to me. Some of the issues were never resolved although there was 5 more years of warranty. Like issues with loud panoramic glass roof due to seal and a loud noise while driving over 120kmh. Took it to three Kia service houses, none of them resolved the issue. Horrible. Not mentioning the driver leather seats, which are so hard after two hours of sitting you get neck and back pain. Complained on Kia, tested the Sorento and it was the same. Engines are great, the rest is not so good. And I paid 38000€ after discount for he car at the time. And what is it with everything black inside? The front right spring broke while driving, punctured the front wheel, they replaced just the spring. I had to pay for the tire myself. And it happened in the city on a regular road. Try to test the car for few hours. I used the car as a business travel car daily and made over 120000km in a little more than 2 years. Than I replaced it.
Australian roads develop good suspension like KDSS, I'm sure this will be as good.....but is this suspension only exclusive to the australian spec or for all Sorento'd
Hopefully you guys should have it before the end of this year. COVID-19 has caused a delay for a number of new models, but you should have it soon. Stay safe over there. Cheers Richard
A great car. Albeit a bit gimmicky. I have the summon function on my Model S and rarely use it. Or to show off to my mates. Kia really need to do a “Toyota”. In 1989 they changed from the “TOYOTA” plastic logo to the oval T logo and followed by the Lexus L. This would do wonders for lift the Kia brand to the level Toyota is now. You can already buy the unofficial K-logo online and I would get them. I looked into this when we were considering a Carnival, another great family product.
parking assistent is only vor diesel version, not vor hybrid, so sad. but for the santa fe hybrid parking assistent is available. // but good video,. good job

I can see merit if someone has parked you in but other than that you’re parking others in, that said it’s a very nice offering from Kia
Are you getting any mild hybrid or phev versions in Australia? Congrats for a surprisingly funny video on a surprisingly good car!!
Ahaha, really like the way you present the whole story😍, the humour 😂✔️
This guy is awesome he does the best reviews in Australia
PETER SHREYER FROM AUDI HAS DONE HIS MAGIC
Good job. I love your review.
Wow...Kia has nailed it with this SUV
Hey richard how are you doing,
Everything good?
excellent presentation... love it
very interesting, if 2 kia sorenta close and you say come on, both of them will move? (other car is not yours)
Best thing is nice explanation and only one advertisement
To be honest, the back rear taillights remind me of a Rolls-Royce Cullinan, they look almost identical to me😍
Hi, just picked up GT-line yesterday.
Can you please put this on Facebook, would love to share your review, it’s better than the other reviews that I saw
Awesome car
When you guys going to do the new Honda CR-V ?
I'm tossing up between these two cars
Well Presented by Richard. great value for money. this SUV is a winner. my next SUV will be this one!
Do you get the Explorer in Australia? Because more so than just the Mustang and taillights, it's very much the image of the Explorer on the whole of the rear end styling.
Outstanding review 👏 👌 👍 🙌. Respect 🙏
How is the engine capacity
Looks like a vw tiguan
Which is better vw tiguan 2021 or kia ?
Loved this review he made something serious and fun and enjoyable
Love the Sorento and good review. The prices are getting a bit on the expensive side comparing to other mainstream manufacturers.
Australian roads develop good suspension like KDSS, I'm sure this will be as good.....but is this suspension only exclusive to the australian spec or for all Sorento'd
Definitely going to get a kia sorrento!
They should bring the Telluride here.
Very Good Explanation👌
Enjoyable review, Thank you so much
When will this be available in New York 😫
Hopefully you guys should have it before the end of this year. COVID-19 has caused a delay for a number of new models, but you should have it soon. Stay safe over there. Cheers Richard
When demonrats are voted out of office, never.HAHAHA.
// but good video,. good job
