True but Endura doesn't come with 7 seats. This will be more relevant although CX8 is probably the more direct comparison when it comes to diesel availability.
Really?ive got an Azami 2016 and I feel am downgrading when i think of the Kia..i feel the space and build quality is inferior..the door plastics and centre console rattles!
Until it breaks down or catches fire, then Mazda is clear winner! Actually, Mazda was a clear winner the whole time for using more plush materials than the kias cheap plastics.
Personally I love the look of the Sorento, love the aggressive looking front. Yes, no 3rd row side airbags a bit of a let down if you use that row often. But full size alloy spare wheel is a plus as well as that 10.25 inch infotainment screen as well as the ability to park the car remotely and/or move the vechicle forwards and or backwards remotely if you are in a tight parking spot and you and your passengers cant open the doors wide enough to gain entry. The panoramic sunroof is impressive too. I love the mineral blue colour. The front design of the Mazda which is the same look across several of its vechicles is starting to look a little dated now to me.
I get 9.4 L p/100 kms consistently with Hwy & inner city driving in Perth. I guess you guys who test drive the cx9 must have a heavy right foot & driving up heaps of hills.
Mazda's diesels suck compared to Kia's. So I'm going with the Kia. Would never go with a petrol for a vehicle this large and heavy. Not enough torque and terrible fuel economy.
I've had two Sorentos, a 2011 and a 2017, both in Platinum trim. Sadly I had to sell the latter due to disability as I was no longer able to drive as of 2018 but I had a long reliable run out of the first one and I know the car is still getting around town.

I am 6ft, 240lbs and I drive a CX-9 and feel quite comfortable in it. The cargo space is small because the third row is useless, but it feels more comfortable than several SUVs I test drove before I purchased it just over a month ago.
Cramped what??? Unless you're sitting in the 3rd row .. But I do own kia sorento, and my friends has cx9 .the infotainment in sorento is top notch but most of the stuffs are all plastic and the seats are not comfortable as cx9 and not to mention you get small issues with the engine once every two months... The warranty sucks... Looking to sell it and buy cx9

Just to clarify Australia gets the 2.2 Turbo Diesel while the US market has a 2.5 Turbo Petrol. We don’t get the 2.5 TP while they don’t get the 2.2TD. To each their own but I think we’re better off.

I don’t own any of these two but if I were to choose, I’d go with the brains with a lil bit of beauty kia and not the beauty with a lil less brain (engine) mazda.
There are reasons why CX-9 is everywhere and It looks like a $100k car. The Lexus RX is 100k but doesn't look like one. The Kia looks quite good but still quite generic.
Think the value of what you get in the car goes a long way, people hold on to the stigma that "it's still a Kia" when in reality they have surpassed their competitors.

Steve Chang Everyone’s taste is different but numbers don’t lie. Mazda CX5 and CX9 sales are up there. German SUVs sales are also top Lexus because their car looks better.
I am driving now this Kia Sorento Sport model and yes wat a car it is! You dont feel like you are driving a diesel at all, its has different modes like Comfort, Sport, Smart and different terrain modes Snow Mud etc. Cabin is spacious specially 2nd row with a baby chair + child booster seat still my wife was happy sitting in the 2nd row, car has very good pickup and goes really well, all the safety features are impressive, other day I went a flooded river crossing caused by heavy raining using terrain mode and it did this so easliy like it was nothing.... Well Done Kia for creating a car which is winner on and off the road (not talking about hard core off roading but more realistic which majority of the car users go through).

I’ve been in Many newer cars before weather is sedans or suv. And the cx9 is a unique suv to be honest . It’s a little hidden gem if you get the right trim such as signature awd . It feels like your ina little plane when you take off fast the driving dynamics is great. it’s like the car moves with your body. And not stiff like other cars
I’ve just bought a cx9 touring with leather seats 49 thousand aud... it’s a value for money and a great suv... ticks all boxes for me... I want a add something if you are driving around mostly in city conditions a petrol engine is a winner as compared to diesel.. little bit more thirsty but better and comfortable in the long run
I own now CX5 no quality in a lot visits in garage on warranty and Mazda do not want give me a new car. I have it almost 2 years. I have KIA also nice good car better quality. Mazda abused me I sent them a lot emails what they did wrong in the model they applied my ideas but I didn't get any money back for it. I won't go again in Mazda. Mazda has a good projects CX5 and Cx9 they are good but the quality is poor. I want better quality and more respect to clients from Mazda. I couldn't find it through 2 years cooperations. Common Problems in Mazda are paint and folding mirrors motors. If you want add to version 2018 auto lock while you driving you cannot do it. Buy 2019 and you get it because of me and my efforts to improve the brand. Why I did it simply I want that you will live in better world.
My pick would be cheaper Sorrento sport plus diesel. It costs only 62k on road and has pretty much everything you need and better ride than GT line. MAZDA feels more luxurious and posh, and is amazing to drive , but gets low mileage and comes quite expensive
Hmmm... I’d go the Mazda and for one reason only : I sat in the Kia and couldn’t stand the horrible plastic tinsel like trim everywhere. It was just awful. Felt cheap and nasty and there’s no way I could live with it. You said the Mazda had a slightly more plush feel to the interior but come on here , be honest with your viewers and tell it like it is. The Mazda feels FAR more plush.
I have a 2020 cx9 signature with parchment and black interior . Couldn’t the more happy. Interior materials is good quality and has a lot of character compared to other Japanese or even German suv interiors . I love the head lights and fog lights on at night they are beautiful.
There's no comparison between 100 years of experience and this Korean cars I am not talking about the technology and features you can get even better than this kia in Chinese cars but we are talking about quality about driving without any tension

We had a very major accident 3 days ago and we are very lucky all of us survived. Car rolled out 4 times. Kia sorento saved us. What a car.

Petrol only comes in fwd but diesel will win in travel distance than petrol
Mazda CX-9 got update in late 2020, received new multimedia system, cameras, trims and minor changes throughout cabine.

Completely agree, Mazda design has aged very gracefully. This Kia looks good inside but the exterior looks like they've tried too hard.

Rado Tej the Kia does not have Curtin airbags all the way back to the 3rd row the Cx9 does
