The fact that he left his ring behind and placed it around Xie Lian's neck made me both happy and sad. Its like an unspoken promise of marriage between the two of them. Also the song choice and the flash back of their time together... it made me tear up. I can't wait to see your reaction to season 2.
On the ugliness of Hua Cheng: He got mistreated as a kid by everyone around him, and was told he was ugly and awful (due to things that would be a spoiler). That is how he still sees himself compared to Xie Lian: As an ugly dirty streetrat.
He did a lot of the localisation work, and also he actually read the books, which is a nice bonus that makes him act it out very thoughtfully and mindfully of the future.
I’ll be waiting for the S2 reaction! An idea for another show to react to is Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation (MDZS), which has 3 seasons and is already completed. The novel was written by the same author as HOB. It's really good (and popular) and I think you'll really like it. Thanks 😊
