This is my favorite BL anime after "Sasaki to Miyano"!! Also I don't recommend watching the live action of Given since the show really doesn't stay loyal to the manga or even the anime. Do watch the movies though, it's really good!

The author made many Haikyuu doujinshis actually! Their IwaOi doujins are my favorite. They're such an amazing and an immersive writer. That's probably why many people is reminded of Kageyama and Hinata when they see Uenoyama and Mafuyu. The author also made Kuroko no Basuke doujins. IMO, they only look like KageHina but their dynamic and personality reminds me of how the author writes KagaKuro (Kagami and Kuroko).

Good bl anime you can watch : 1. Sasaki to miyano 2. Cherry Magic 3. Okaeri Tadaima ( Might a little bit overwhelmed, 😂, it's fluff and heartwarming story but the main concept is bit overwhelmed for those who don't read or watch bl, recommended to search about omegaverse before watch the anime , it's very cuteee bl anime story with the babies 🥰) Basically all this story is veryy heartwarming, it's like a shojo theme but for bl.

I love how real this whole story and characters feel, I can definitely see ALL of this stuff happening to someone in real life. Definitely one of my favourites (to the point where I started collecting physical copies of the manga, which I don’t do unless the series is very special to me). I saw some people in the comments recommending Yuri on Ice and I absolutely agree you should watch it! In 2017 it was the first show that made me excited to watch anime in YEARS. That said, Given is one of my all time faves. Many of the BL out there are just so wholesome and sweet. My husband thinks they are all yaoi, but they are not! LOL! This is a great story. Heads up, if you're watching the Sub, you will get english translations on the text messages, however the dub does not, for some reason. The dub is great, too, though. Sasaki and Miyano is also a really sweet story. It was my first BL and it also taught me a lot about BL as it's a common topic of discussion in the show. Tadaima, Okaeri is absolutely adorable. I like "Yes, no, maybe," "Twilight out of Focus," and "Love stage," but one of my favs up there with Given is "Cherry Magic." Its in a workplace setting, which I prefer. Yes, no maybe is also a workplace romance and Love stage is too, kinda. The main character is in college. With Cherry Magic, it's really cute watching someone with no romantic experience trying to navigate a relationship. I highly recommend it. I saw someone recommend Banana Fish. It's a really good anime with like late 80s American gang vibes. They do a really great job creating this crazy world that the main character finds himself in. I believe it's set in New York, but it's been awhile since I saw it. The main characters are so different, and really grow throughout the show. It's a lot of trauma... a lot... so bring a box of tissues if you go down that path. It's worth the watch, though. It's a very unique story. Anyways, those are my recs. Happy viewing! Super sudden. 6 hours before I was telling them goodnight and I loved them. Anyways; I watched Given 2 years after their death. I didn’t even process their death until two years after until I tired to join them myself😅 (IM GOOD NOW YALL PROMISE). Anyways I was like oh cute bl romance. Then the first scene hits and I’m like sobbing immediately. Episode 9 full on hysterical crying. My mother walks in and asks what I’m watching. I explain. She asks why am I watching it if it’s making me so sad. I just remember saying “But I finally found something that truly expresses the true horror and grief that comes with it.”

My top jp bl are kyo kara maoh(idc it's a bl for me), dokyuusei, Twilight out of focus, sasaki no miyano, after Given I love the manga more than the anime for given. bro right after he's butchered every. single.character's. name in the show for 16.5 mins straight: "It'S nOt ThAt HaRd To ReMeMbEr HiS nAmE" (keeps butchering them anyway) btw, this was the first queer thing I've ever watched (I was hella terrified the whole time my Eastern-European, Catholic parents would find out lol). it helped me understand a lot about myself, and also made me fall in love with rock music. now I'm in way too deep, regarding both departments :DD [side note no.1] I started to have a feeling while rewatching it in this video that Mafuyu might be a bit autistic. [side note no.2] another thing I just noticed is the ep titles are titles of rock songs! many of which I've got obsessed with since I watched this series, BECAUSE I watched this series (and got interested in rock bands).
My favourite one is Sekaiichi Hatsukoi by the same mangaka and Tadaima, Okaeri (omegaverse). There are many more I wanna mention but those are hardcore ones so I rather not mention them.
