    I think this is the gold standard for home cockpit - on a pricy side but still very affordable if one need a full cockpit. Great setup, thanks for sharing, very inspiring

    Since posting this video last year, Microsoft has updated its MSFS software to include multi-monitor support. That means instead of stretching the view out the front window across all three monitors, I can now designate a 90-degree view out of each side window (+90 for the right window, -90 for the left window). When looking out of the side windows I now see a bit of the interior of the airplane around the edges of the screen, and look out over the wing to see the ground (in a low-wing airplane). It's fantastically realistic!

    Bernie, absolutely beautiful! You just made my day, this is exactly what I would like to build. I purchased the full simionic as well as the standby gauges. I’ve been scouring TH-cam for the past year looking for ideas and thanks to you I now know what I’m going to build. Any specs you can share? Is the aluminum easy to work with? What about the PVC panels, where do I get them? Where would I purchase the aluminum? I’m loving your setup!!

    • @bernie_hirsch
      @bernie_hirsch  ปีที่แล้ว

      So you can download the design and all the specs will print out in a BOM from within the software. I bought the PVC from Meyer Plastics in Indy (see the description). The aluminum is super easy to work with because I ordered it all pre-cut. Fit together like a glove with connectors bought off of Amazon. I spent months designing the sim and gathering together all the components. The actual build of the cockpit only took a couple of weeks including the time to custom design and cutout the panel.

  • @LetsFly-vx7wh
    @LetsFly-vx7wh ปีที่แล้ว

    How did you get the 3 screens to show without the interior of the plane showing up? Great build btw....

    • @bernie_hirsch
      @bernie_hirsch  ปีที่แล้ว

      The MSFS panel is below the front monitor and I can use the hat switch on the yoke to pan down to it if I want. I just set the front view to be looking out the window. I set each of the side views to 90 degrees. You can actually still see a bit of the interior of the airplane around the edges of the window as you look out toward each wing. Seems very realistic.

    Awesome setup you have there Bernie, nice and clean and very functional. I am looking to do something similar but for now I have a question on your choice of the Simionic G1000 suite. How do you feel about it now that you've been using it for a while? I too have my own plane, an Experimental Glasair IIS with all Garmin panel. I plan on using the Sim to stay sharp on instruments as well so I am especially interested in knowing if the Simionic is functionally correct to the G1000. I am currently using X-Plane 11 on my Mac but plan to build a PC later so I can try MSFS 2020. Thank you!

  • @nzvonrock8529
    @nzvonrock8529 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi, on your PC, the inlets of the radiator need to be higher than the cpu block/pump, because any air in the loop can be trapped in the pump shortening its life span. you could either flip the radiator, so that the inlets are at the top not the bottom, or mount the radiator at the top of the case. Apart from that it looks really good.

    • @bernie_hirsch
      @bernie_hirsch  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll have to take a look at that. I didn't build the PC, it was a pre-built. That was the only way I could get the video card during the shortage.

    I'm trying to figure out how the monitors are attached to the door....looks great. I would love to build this but I would want it to all be one piece I don't need mine to be multipurpose. Would your design allow for the monitor on the front to be attached? Also looks like you're in CAP? :)

    • @bernie_hirsch
      @bernie_hirsch  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I'm a member of CAP. The side monitors are mounted to the aluminum extrusion with these: Monoprice Titan Series Fixed TV Wall Mount Bracket for TVs 13in to 27in Max Weight 66 lbs VESA Patterns Up to 100x100 Black a.co/d/jhmn5Ve
      I didn't include the extrusion to mount the front TV to the frame, but it wouldn't be difficult to add a few extra pieces to the design to securely mount a large TV. The extrusion is quite strong.
