It seems like I can't get enough Super Mario Galaxy. I made a video on it a few years ago, played it again on Super Beard Bros, and now am doing a New Game Plus! It's a good game!! The cinematic opening, the expansive worlds, Rosalina, SPHERES! It's Spherical! The Mario platformer even has lasting effects that are in modern Mario titles likes Super Mario Odyssey. Here with me to talk all things space and Nintendo is Scott The Woz.

@@TheAbsol7448 Im not a game designer, but i am a human being with eyes. I played the Prime games and the Galaxy games just a couple months ago. Prime looks ok. Galaxy looks amazing. Sometimes simplicity looks better.

@@frankonaig7278 Yeah, it was well scripted. It's funny and feels like classic Scott humor. He scripts all his stuff, doesn't make it not funny. Do you ask people if they know what a script is if they laugh at characters in a TV show screwing with other characters? It's not like it's improvised, Scott's never worked that way for stuff like this and I don't think I've heard Jirard sound non-scripted possibly ever (since I don't watch his let's plays. Though there is the possibility that maybe they changed a line here or there to just catch Jirard off guard and get a more genuine-looking reaction. I have an actor friend who does that sometimes)

Yup! I think it would be better if they consulted us. I have giant gushing feelings for this game. It’s a top ten Nintendo game of all time. Certainly a top 3 mario title. It’s got the awesome 3D graphics with the original 4 games linear level design.
This game has a special place in my heart. My brother and I were always super competitive to the point where we always get to be at odds, but this game was one where we could sit together all day and take turns playing this absolute gem of a game.

i got 100% (technically 202% considering both playthroughs and the 121st star for both brothers) on 3D All Stars, and my god the camera may have been kinda stupid at times, but that didn't stop me from loving and completing this game! i love how it even saves the completion bonus picture to your album

I remember playing this game for hours as a kid, and I also equally remember the sequel. I can't really describe what makes this so special, wether it's the hypnotic soundtrack or the mind bending level design. So nice to see a look back on it from modern day, and that it isn't totally forgotten about. Thanks for covering this, brought back a tonne of great memories.

Super Mario Galaxy is THE game that got me hooked on games. I remember being starry eyed as a child playing this game with a big ass grin on my face all the while. I thought, "games are fun! I should play more! I WANT to play more!" I love this game with all my heart and it warms me to no end to hear you two talk so affectionately about it because I would sing the exact same words of praise. Glad this episode exists and glad you had a good time!
Super Mario Galaxy will always live in my heart. Great galaxies, amazing soundtrack, and so much fun. Absolutely beautiful game.

This game was surprisingly relaxing to play and pretty smooth to complete. I'm so glad I got this game and finally played it in college 10 years after it released.

Been a Mario fan since 1988, when I wa a kiddo. It's 2020 and I have 2 sons and still love the moustached plumber. Galaxy is a masterpiece, can't stress enough how GOOD it is.
i prefer to think of super mario galaxy 1 & 2 as one, as Super Mario Galaxy 2 was originally a kind of DLC, also I can’t choose which is best.
(But, Like Scott, I prefer the first one, for it’s magic and vibe)

On the topic of being booted back to the Observatory after every star:
The reason for this is that each star is, well, for the most part, its own level. With the exception of the secret stars, every star has its own unique level progression that isn't present in the other stars of the galaxy. I'm sure they could have gone for a more SM64 approach where most of the stars could be grabbed at any point in any order, but that probably wouldn't work as well in this setting

The "creepy Luigi clone" is _probably_ a result of the galaxy recreating itself at the end of Mario's run, with the original Luigi saving the Luigi of the new galaxy.
