You have to just view his channel as a Journal rather than a tutorial channel. B/c even Sycra himself corrects a lot of his older videos but still leaves the older videos up. It's sad b/c it can confuse a lot of younger artist

Heya for more artists id also like to mention some notes- 1. Open stances with hands to your sides shows no fear and lots of openess to approach, good for people without fear 2. Hands near face/upper torso usually are defensive and timid, maybe even uncomfortable, body language would show they dont want to be approached 3. When holding weapons, bats and other swinging objects are near the face when aggressive, even if they're not about to swing 4. Also when holding weapons such as knives, arm holding the weapon in an L shape near mid torso These are just some body language tips I learned from another video a bit ago, enjoy-

I don’t know if its tumblr or insta artists but i somehow got it into my head that references and drawing the masks was somehow cheating. Like, my art is really good when i do this, but i feel like an imposter and not a “real” artist.
That's likely gonna be tumblr, and it's the hardcore 'gourmet' artists what haven't bothered to improve beyond their natural talent, and don't want anyone to do better than them - at anything, if it can be helped. Mind you, these ideas have passed several memetic generations of people that believe it fully since the initial propagation, but that's basically how that shit started & blossomed back in 08/09-ish, though it had its roots in DevArt IIRC.
Maybe it's a shorthand to describe a bunch of your "triangles"(you and sinix are teaching) together to describe flow of action. Maybe his lemons is just someone just taking notes on a lot of studies and realized other people could use their "notes" on it
Tried out your lemon slices on something i never draw- animals. Took a photo of my cat, applied lemon slices- helped greatly with the dimensions and angles. Managed to replicate the shapes i wanted so much faster. Gonna use this method for my studies now. Thank you very much for the great advice!👍 PS: Bless your dog.
Marco simplified colour theory, lighting, framing and layout for me while you are helping me with posing, form clarity and actually thinking in terms of structure and just in general what to do and what not to do to help me learn faster and be more efficient in my process :D

but damn arent melons 2d and only good for copying, not constructing? i mean, you can copy couple of picture from similar angles and then create your own characters but it wont make you think 3d. am i wrong? is this a legitemate way?
A drawing is both 3D and 2D, simultaneously. Your goal is to juggle both - 1. keep the form of a ribcage consistent and non-deformed 2. make its 2D shape visually appealing. Thinking about lemon slices will help you with the latter, for the former there is perspective.
okay got it if you are a student/trying to learn avoid some things and start doing in other ways to improve faster but if you are a pro you can do anything the way you want and doesn't matter at all

Kitaro Collent he’s been the missing link for me in understanding a lot of stuff. Somehow I can watch hours of stuff on a subject only for it to click within minutes of an Ethan video. I also like that he calls me baby 🥺
Because of Ethan I see lemons and triangles everywhere now. I've also tried squeezing lemon juice in my eyes. Thought being part lemon would help me see all the citrus in art. To all the other aspiring artists; stick to the lemons you already see.
I find that illustrators often don't capture the movement as well as an animator does even on one frame. Even for characters I don't intend on being animated I will give a go because it helps me guard their weight and personality through movement.
