Tacoma Sidestep Installation

- There's a ton of options out there for sidesteps, rock sliders, running boards, nerf bars. It will all depend on your plans for the truck and lifestyle. I'll be installing sidesteps for my Tacoma for ingress and egress. It would be cool to install rocksliders, but hey, this is more beneficial for me now because of other driver's and passengers. Let me know if you have any questions in the comments section below about this installation.
Here's the link to the sidesteps I purchased: www.ebay.com/itm/184505265888

When installing these, a small bead of silicone around the floors bolt holes will helps seal out moisture. Especially in any rust prone regions. :)
Found this video and used the link you provided to buy mine. Installed them yesterday. They are exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for posting this!
I’ve been waiting to find this video and here you are . My next install ! Thanks so much.
On a roll with the uploads 👍
nice bars! good work, thanks for sharing your install steps and function test!
Just got some of these last night off market place for $75. Thanks for the video
Thanks for sharing I just bought the same truck and exact color love the steps I'm sold on
Very well done and enjoyable video.
Thanks Gary! Worked great!
Good video, well done. Thank you for posting. I'll look for more.
Another informative upload.
I installed my step bars last week on my Tacoma
Thanks for the video! Just put mine on in about 45 minutes.
I like your channel dude
Great video quality :)
Thanks!
I like the way you shows thank you
Looking good 👍
Thanks for the video. This is what I was looking for. I just ordered a set through your link 👍
Awesome. Glad I could help.
@@GTContent Thanks. I purchased my truck this week, and I will be installing the running boards today.
@@michaelgraham6328 Congrats on your purchase!
Just ordered mine you sold me! Great video!
Awesome 👌
Where do you order this? And what brand? Thank you
Thank you for this
Cool thanks so much. I will take care of it my self.
Keep on uploading videos
Thanks!!! Awesone
Thank you
How long are your sidesteps from end to end? I have a set and they are about 72-73inches I’m not sure if they will work for the double cab. Thank you
Nice video could you measure the distance from ground to step please
Thanks ... About to help my father in law out.
Good video, thanks. Btw just multiply times 2 next time haha
Now its time for the brush guard
Thank you Gary.
You're welcome!
White looks great on the Tacoma
Thanks
Lol those things are the first item to come off on an offroad rig. Every weekend we see new Tacomas and tundras with one or steps torn clean off..
Yeah, they're not really for off road excursions. Lol
@@GTContent even on level 2 trails a small step of 5-6" will destroy them.
@@cnknguyen Ouch. Good to know.
True but people don’t off-road 5 days a week….just take them off when you go off-roading and it’ll be okay….side step are more practical on everyday use on lifted trucks anyway
What are you some sort of redneck🤠
Nice yeyo hidden spot .
Nice! And they are very inexpensive!
Great Job Gary, will you spray clear coat or PP film on the truck?
No, I won't be adding pp or clear coat.
@@GTContent Living dangerously with the factory paint, I would at least Ceramic Coat/wax if possible.
@@xxraverxxonxtacy That's true. I've been looking at ceramic and pp (and if I can do it myself), but all I see is more $$$$$. Lol
Which ceramic would you recommend?
@@GTContent Search B07MVSYPM5 on Amazon, I heard good things about it but haven't tried myself but make sure you can use it on non-clearcoated surfaces cuz I've never heard of new cars/trucks being sold with just paint and no CC.
thanks for the video ! how are your sidesteps holding up ? i am looking to order and curious after a month if you are still happy with them
Holding up well. I'm glad I installed them.
@@GTContent thanks will be ordering them today !
Update on step sides
Same my. 😆
So far how do you like the side step? And what brand is that? Thanks sir
They work great and are affordable. They sit low, so if you're into off roading, it may be an issue.
👍
What exact size are the bolts and all the washers I’m trying to build these and am wondering the sizes of everything??
I'm sure the bolts are 8x1.25
Does the off-road and sr5 have the same body style to where these can fit?
Yes, it will fit
How tall are you Gary?
Almost one year later, how are these running boards holding up?
Still doing well. I'm surprised the coating hasn't come off as much as I anticipate, but I live in a dry environment.
How are the sidesteps doing what brand were they. Thanks
Purchased off Ebay. They're still doing great.
what brand and how much? could you please put a link below?
www.ebay.com/itm/184505265888
Anybody know the sizing of bolt or type I should get, my side rails didn't come with bolts to mount to the truck
Original, Tacoma set has 6 metric Hex head screws "M8 - 1.25 mm thread x 30 mm long". Screws come with 6 M8 washers.
How are they holding up. Thinking of buying the same.
Working well.
What was the brand of sidestep did you use in this video?
Sold all over Ebay.
How is the ground clearance with them installed?
Good. Haven't had any issues in the suburbam jungle.
Did you use a normal wrench or a air powered wrench
Normal wrench will work. No air powered tools necessary.
@@GTContent thank you just wanted to be sure beforehand thanks again
You should weld it from getting stolen. A lot of thieves yo. But, that's if you're going to have it on permanently.
Where did you buy your side steps?
Ebay
Did you notice the material being flimsy at all? I weigh 175, and when I step on these things they seem to have a lot of flex and give.
Didn't notice at all.
Update on the running boards ?
Doing great so far.
Dip it in acid for reduced weight on metal
Same here I feel like its easy because im 6’ 😭
Hi Do you need some great lighting for your cars to help you better driving, off-road and adventure. We're the pro auto lighting manufacturer for nearly 20 year and we're looking for sponsorship!
My Tacoma didn’t come with steps either but I didn’t need them I’m 6’ tall
I’m hoping you took those gawdy graphics off
That wasn't very informative. I would have like to have seen the mounting and install.
People that can't read instructions shouldn't make "how to" videos!
Figures this is from the same channel as wheel spacers content.
Just buy proper wheels with an offset.
Don’t be cheap, do it right.
I bet the next video will be a spacer lift install.
1. What not to waste your money on because you should have just bought a sedan in one easy “step”
Pun intended.
Lame
Stick to sports cars.
You should never buy these ridiculous body mounted grandma street steps.
They are intended for dealerships to mark up the price of the vehicle and give you the illusion that these are an off-road accessory, when it couldn’t be farther from the truth.
Yes sir! They help a little with rocks hitting the rockers if you have A/T tires and majority of Tacoma owners aren't off-roading. Most people just worry about their own shit and not what anyone else is doing.
