- Gaming Pastime reviews Quantum of Solace for PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360.
Developed by Treyarch and published by Activision, the Quantum of Solace was released for Xbox 360 November, 2008. Eurocom Developed the PlayStation 2 version which released on the same day. Quantum of Solace is a good game that borrows elements from other shooters and doesn't really stand out in any particular way.

I heard Daniel Craig played the game. He kinda enjoyed it even before someone told him he had to cover behind obstacles to avoid receiving damage.

That’s one of the many reasons why I strictly purchase physical games ONLY! Lose the rights, lose the license, game gets discontinued, etc., etc., but I still own a copy that can never be taken from me!!!

Wolff - If you have to redownload a game after the servers have been taken down, then yeah, you lose that game.
While I agree with you about physical ownership being the best way to go. In this case, all three of the 007 games (quantum of solace, bloodstone and goldeneye remake) are available to be emulated for free on PC.

I remember my parents buying this game for me on the 360 because I was too young for COD 4 but I played the shit outta of it and I loved it
I played the shit out of this game on 360. My TV at the time didnt support 60hz, so when I played it it was in black and white, and it had a weird flickering effect. I still must have finished it a good 20 times at least. 10 year old me thought it was amazing.
Spot-on review, I especially appreciated the fact y'all covered the PS2 version, which isn't brought up a lot. I've only played the 360 version, and my thoughts are the same as yours, fun, but short, and it needed a little more variety.
Ahh, this is the first game I ever 100% on 360, including all the multiplayer achievements and Golden Guns...
Fun times. Best thing about it was there was advertisements for GI Joe and Final Destination on billboards in the multiplayer maps aswell

This is acctually second fps game i ever played so this game means alot to me. I loved the multiplayer and it was great back in the day.
Dude, the multiplayer was awesome! Do u remember the silenced g18 with fire coming out of the top? I always stacked double tap and stopping power on the mp5... Man good times

Multiplayer was my thing too, team conflict. back when the CBK’s always controlled the lobbies.
I liked Quantum of Solace. Both the movie and game.
Sure, it's not astounding but I had plenty of fun with it.
I love the game, too bad the campaign is quite short and is essentially dead.
It's strange how for a game called "Quantum Of Solace", it focuses more on Casino Royale. Also, I remember the Train mission easily being the best mission in the game, mainly because of the section where you fight on a sidecar before jumping back onto the train. Great review!
I remember reading somewhere EA had intended to make a Casino Royale game, but it was canceled when Activision got the rights to Bond.
Well to be honest, there was barely a story in Quantum of Solace, so I don't blame them lol
It was far easier and cheaper for them to take what they had from the cancelled Casino Royale game and meld it with this title. I was actually extremely pleased by this because the few screenshots of the Venice level had me sad, considering how much I love the Casino Royale movie. Yeah, you're not playing much of Quantum of Solace, but there wouldn't have been as much to do if it was solely based on the second movie.
@@GamerGuysReviews EA canceled the Casino Royale game because it wasn't finish yet and failed to meet the time with the Casino Royale Reboot film and with that they gave up the rights afterwards.

You should play the Blood Stone game too. It was a decent shooter with a few exciting car chases. Not based on a movie though.
I wanted to play that game for the longest time and I finally got it not too long ago. Haven't played it yet. It's definitely going to be reviewed at some point.

Spectre was actually a very good film. Upon first viewing, I was disappointed in it, but I think that was simply because it came after Skyfall, which was such an excellent movie.

Just an addition, it was released on PS3 also. That was the version I played on non-stop.
PS. Everyone on multiplayer eventually got to using the Hutchinson A4 which was grossly overpowered.
And a lot of the guns is named after a 007 movie, e.g. TND - Tomorrow never dies. FRAWL - From Russia "and" with Love.
DAD - Die Another Day. Etc. Etc.
Skyfall was always my favorite of the Daniel Craig James Bond films but I can't deny Casino Royal has a banging intro song.

I do remember it being a very solid game online as well, to the point where I had everything online, gold guns included.
@SplinterCellRocks It was the small kinda auto-shotgun, the thing was ridiculous.
And u could use double tap with stopping power... So much fun
Honestly wanna get XBL+this game again and play online so bad now haha. Had so much fun playing online on that game.
SplinterCellRocks It was a pump shotgun that looked like someone mixed a SPAS-12 with the Remington 870.
Overall great review of the game. Now I can understand why on Goldeneye reloaded review you said, shooting is more satisfying here- on Reloaded it feels like enemies don't getting hurt, if that makes any sense. Kudos to you for spending time and effort reviewing both 360 and ps2 versions.
The PS2 version was honestly a very underrated 007 game, next to From Russia With Love
Rented this game from blockbuster when I was a kid and really liked it. Different times
I remember having a lot of fun with friends back on the 360 QoS multiplayer.
The ps3/360 version is one of those fun 20$ shelf game to pick up and play during summer.
Not a bad game, but not your Bioshock,Portal,Mass effect tier game.
I havent played all of them but I think this is the best Bond game of the Activision era.
Treyarch used to make some good games outside of Call of Duty

Funny enough, for an average 007 game, Quantum of Solace (Xbox 360) has one of the best 007 theme songs in the history of the series. It not THE best, but it's quite good.
I actually liked this game on the 360. The soundtrack in the game was awesome.

This was one of my first PS3 game, this and resistance fall of man 1. Good times
I had fun with the PC version back in the day but it was one and done.
The online was so fun tho. I played a good 100+ hours just online. Actually brings back so many good vibes.
The PS3 version had a very fun Multiplayer and it ran quite will I still have a Copy. I don't know why anyone would even Compare PS2 & XBOX 360 Versions since it makes very little sense.

This game is proof that "Call of Duty" would work as a hybrid first-/third-person shooter, a la "Rainbow Six: Vegas". Heck, considering Treyarch already made a canonical "Call of Duty" campaign with freaking *zombies* in it, third person isn't a stretch.
Actually there is a third person mode for call of duty I think in modern warfare 2 or 3 when you play split screen there is an option to toggle third person
Yep, both sequels to "Modern Warfare" had third-person modes, but only in multiplayer. :-/
You should try out 007 Blood Stone by Bizzare Creations at some point, it felt like a more competent attempt at a cover-based 3rd person James Bond game.
Only ever played this, Blood Stone and PC version of Nightfire, which is apparently the worst version :/.
Wish I grabbed the GoldenEye remake for the 360 back when it was available, shame it doesn't have a PC version. As one of the other comments pointed out, 2006 was back in the era when PC gaming was in the crapper, but with the old and forgotten PC games you can at least get a hold of them (even if through some... dubious ways), whilst on consoles if the game isn't available digitally and there are no second-hand copies it might aswell be lost forever.

The reason why the games are not on any of the digital online services is because Activision's 007 license expired after 007 Legends.

I loved the PS3 game.. And now I feel like I have to get the PS2 version.. a totally different game almost which is fantastic if u ask me, personally I enjoy third person games more anyway.

This is a passable game and it's certainly waaaaaaay better than the film it shares a title with. However, it saddens me that Bond games used to be trendsetters whereas, with this game and subsequent Daniel Craig titles, the 007 video games became drab carbon copies of other games that were popular.

i played a bit of this on the ps2 emulator. i didnt love it, but it does look pretty great graphically for a ps2 game. Im sure some of this was because i have to resolution upscaled, but im sure it looked great on a crt back when ps2 scrubs were playing it

007 legends is pretty good
007 legends is a fun but flawed game that I enjoyed, it brought back the wrist watch laser and didn't take itself too seriously, but the skyfall dlc is mostly awful, the game, even in the main game spawns in enemies way too frequently, and fighting Patrice in the last part of the skyfall dlc is awful because he takes a thousand shots but if he shoots you once or twice, you're dead, and you're stuck with having the basic pistol.
Also it kind of sucks that 007 legends is the only James Bond console game in the Daniel Craig era that doesn't have Daniel Craig voicing Bond. Though the person they got was okay.

The 360 version is a surprisingly coherent game. Sure it’s essentially a COD clone but it was a lot of fun from what I remember.
The game is well done, and the multiplayer was a lot of fun.

I found it weird that the wii version you can only play with up to four players online. That is a fucking odd decision. I thought that would be for the DS version, not a home console.

The first-person/third-person split, the cover mechanics, the silencer on/off and a few other things were giving me a Rainbow Six: Vegas vibe from the 360 version, much more than COD. Doesn't seem like the worst movie-tie-in ever, but just really generic.

I hated the PS2 version when I was little, and Eurocom because of it.
Don't bother with the Wii version. Imagine the 360 with terrible graphics and choppy framerate. They attempted to port the 360 version, but with Wii controls. Bad. I've also played the versions you reviewed and enjoyed both. Good fun for a Bond fan, but not exceptional.

This is one of my favorite games, because it a huge mess, Xbox 360 online was soooo fucking fun because it took one bullet to kill you but it was always lagging so you would constantly get kill even when you were dead, it was like being in a club it was the same 50 ppl every week it was a blast.
