    If you’re trying to sell professional course to learn how to pressure wash, you should never advise anybody to buy a 2 1/2 gallon per minute machine

    • @AustinDavis24
      @AustinDavis24  ปีที่แล้ว +138

      I’d rather them not do that. But at the end of the day, you afford what you can afford. I started with a 2 1/2 gallon machine. That’s the only way I could start. Had I not done that I would not be where I am today.

    • @CommanderRich
      @CommanderRich ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AustinDavis24 The ball valve you sent is rated for 3000 PSI but I have a 4400 PSI machine so will that be fine? You recommended getting a 4200 psi machine and then recommended a 3000 rated ball valve so Im assuming its okay huh?

    • @AustinDavis24
      @AustinDavis24  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@CommanderRich yes it’s fine. That pressure eating is referring to max pressure going through the ball valve. You’ll never be using that much pressure with basic house washing

    • @CommanderRich
      @CommanderRich ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@AustinDavis24 But what about when Im not washing with chemicals anymore and I am actually pressure washing? Ill be using high PSI to get off stains and dirt and just overall clean wont I? Or do you not ever really use high pressure when pressure washing because chemicals pretty much get rid of all that and now youre just washing it off?

    • @AustinDavis24
      @AustinDavis24  ปีที่แล้ว +14

      @@CommanderRich you’re never going to use a high-pressure tip and blast anything away. Everything is going to be cleaned using chemicals. Even when you’re using a surface cleaner to clean a driveway. The pressure is split between the tips. trust me. It’s not of concern.

    I had gotten the $400 course from "the other guys" over a year ago, thinking I was going to learn things I never knew. Their course was good but most of the things on there I had already found on TH-cam. You making a course for less than $50 is a blessing, man. Like on how to mix bleach ratios...I've seen videos on mix ratios as long as 15 minutes, for something that you explained in less than 2. Like c'mon mayne.

    Great videos. Thanks for sharing all your hard work and experience. Nice job!!! Saving others many headaches. Where was youtube when I needed it. I've been in the exterior cleaning business for 26 plus years. My advice is, keep things simple. Learn basic plumbing skills. Know hoses, hose sizes, learn about fittings, and quick connects. Learn about how to replace O rings. A must to save thousands. Be prepared the day before. Keep equipment clean and maintained, its 90% of the job. Learn about pressure washers' gallons per minute, psi. Like many, I started with a 2 gallon per minute consumer machine. Looking back, I dont know how I did it. If your going into this business, you really do need to invest in a 4 gallon per minute 3000 psi or higher machine. High psi is a must for concrete. Yes, gallons per minute are important. Your pumps dictate this. A good Honda engine. Anything over 8 is very hard to maintain. You need inch and half to 3 inch plumbing to keep those machines running at that level. 5.0 to 6 gallons per minute can handle 95 % of anything. I've done massive jobs with 5 gallons per minute belt driven machines for longevity of machine. Learn about chemicals. Acid, bases, safety. Learn how to make your own bc it's too costly to buy dorect consumer cleaners in the end. Believe it or not, water can clean most things used properly. Dont be a bleach dumper. Not good for neighbors, plants can dry out vinyls asphalt shingles if too strong and can be dangerous to your own health. Ruins clothes, plus you will learn to hate it. Chemicals have there place. So does bleach. Liability is involved. Accidentally spray neighbors car or house, kill plants, trees. Your going to pay for it and hurts your name. Just be safe, and use common sense when using chemicals. Always water down plants in area. Take the time to make sure your applying chemical only where you need it. Know what works for grease what works for mold and algea. Know your dirts! You can make 6 figures in this business if you learn these basics. Great advice here. It's blood sweat and tears in the beginning. It took me about 3 years to start making a decent living. Set a minium charge for anything. Stick to your guns. Be honest and upfront with all your clients. If you dont know, it's ok to let client know. Tell them uo front bc some things are beyond cleaning but you can get it to look better. Never stop learning. Im still learning better ways. This can be a rewarding and profitable career.

    Building your own skid teaches you placement and efficiency . For instance, a simple thing like having equipment fuel tanks on the same side as your truck tank helps you pull in once for fuel, instead of possible moving the truck , or just having to climb over and around to fuel equipment tanks. You might say no big deal, but do it every day!!!

    The comments section here truly disappoints. All the nonsense about not advising ppl to get anything less than 4gpm. Listen you START WITH WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD. if it’s a small 2.5gpm, go ahead. Get it and get started. Use the money you make and save it for a bigger setup afterwards. Don’t let clowns who pretend to be experts who have never struggled give you advice. Buy what you can just to start then save to upgrade. Your SH mix will do most of the work anyway.

    Hi Austin! I’m a brand new pressure washer planning to start my business in the spring or early summer and am building my own rig based on my research I’ve been doing since around April of this year. My question is, do you use a water reclamation system or do you not worry about the water and chemical potentially running down the storm drains? I’ve recently just found out about the “clean water act” and just wondering how you handle that.
    I also want to say I love your videos and have watched a lot of your content in the recent weeks. Thank you for the information you put out here for us small/new guys.

You can easily learn how to wash on TH-cam after a couple videos.however as it starts to warm up, I will be adding a lot of how to wash videos. So in the next 30 to 60 days, there will be a complete how to wash section, but as of right now there are only a couple of washing videos.

    • @AustinDavis24

      You do not need a whole system like mine. You can simply just get a pressure washer and plug the pressure washer into the hose spigot on a customers house. Then plug in your surface cleaner. The reason why you’d want something built in a truck platform like mine is to keep everything. Nice, neat and organized. That way you do not have to unload all of your equipment every single time you get to a job.

    Can you buy a longer high-pressure hose, or do you just have to buy 2 hoses and connect them together? I'm looking for 150-200' but I'm only seeing 100' available.

    Worked at a restaurant since my junior year of high school. 8 years later I got offered a job as a pest control worker with a friends dad. After 5 months I got layed off cause of money. Now I’m thinking about going all in and starting my own business this helped a lot. I may go back to nights at my old job to earn money at night while I try to build something. Thank you for the information.

    Ok I've got a question. Do you just keep the pressure washer on your truck for the entire job? And if so does the hundreds of feet of hoseline not cause enough of a pressure drop to affect your gpm rate at the nozzle? This is coming from someone who's only used a PW on wheels so the whole truck setup thing is new to me. Thanks

    I use high psi to strip old paint off beat up decks and fences, its very easy to destroy wood and I don't mean lines that need to be sanded out lol, I mean absolutely demolishing boards and needing to replace them (not even with a red tip I was using a rotating circle tip every time).

    • @Weirdoh8er
      @Weirdoh8er 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      that rotating tip is called a turbo nozzle, you definitely do not want to use that on anything but concrete or bricks, use a 25 or 40 (to be extra careful) degree tip and stand back to give the wood some distance

    Hey, what softwash hose would you recommend?

  • @sick02GtVert
    @sick02GtVert ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Austin I have a question about the soft washing. Is there a specific hose you need for that system, also what about the gun can you use the same one from the pressure washer system or would you recommend 2 different guns? Thanks love the videos btw.

    • @fingolfin9086
      @fingolfin9086 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don’t need a pressure hose for soft washing, get a Flexzilla, half-inch air hose, it’s the most practical. As for gun, you can’t use a pressure washing gun for soft washing for the same reason, no pressure, most people use a regular garden hose gun with an adjustable tip or make their own, there’s several videos on TH-cam on how to do it.
