Your step by step instructions make my signal chain and sound output so much better! Thank you. To my ears, PEQ sounded preferable compared to using the IR.
Awesome video , I love the IR you made with the EQ , I think I prefer it to the IR you downloaded. Please keep these Boss GX10 vids coming , You explain stuff really well and you're helping us get great guitar tones!
Boss without doubt have released 4 devices in their history that are not for the timid cork-sniffer....the FA-1...the GT-1...the mighty IR2....and this incredible recent monster, the GX-10......there IS a God!!! 🔥
Yes brilliant. Parametric is so useful and I’ve never understood it after using a graphic eq , I’ve not seen much on TH-cam as simple and helpful as this video , will definitely be trying this later 🤗😁
This is what I was alluding to on your other vid about tone science overall, Boss understand that a preamp is an amp proper from the get go thankfully, I.R is a bogus term even by todays reference, amps only ever behave amp-style and cabs and speakers likewise, regardless of size etc.
Great 👍🏻 job on doing this I wish I would have thought of this running into speakers....I will say running into my katana artist return gen 3 sounds and most importantly feels killer . But through speakers your solution is the best I've heard hands down 👍🏻💯
Quick question lee hopefully U will respond, if I've done all the high and low cuts do I still need to cut them from the global eq or will that be enough from the 2 peqs , cheers great vid 👍
Hi Lee. Thank you for your time and expertise shown by way of your videos. Can you please inform me if I can utilize the outputs of the GX 10 and run directly into a pair of studio monitors. Would another interface offer a better sound in between the GX 10 and my studio monitors? Thanks for your time. Steve
Can you also make not high gain just mid gain only.. for versatile use tone lead and rythm overdrive Is this for direct PA? And audio interface? And for return of an amp? if i connect it into input of an amp?
Good stuff Lee. Any reason that you didn’t use the reverb and delay from the GX10? Boss stuff is generally overlooked by many… good to see Boss getting some good coverage.
Today I tried this with big Marshall combo amp. I connected to return. But I couldn’t decide which output settings I should select. I confused so much and I got lost. How should I use this unit with big combo amps and which settings does give me a good tone?
@@RogerTalbot I’ve had the ME90 in the past, but don’t have one at the moment. Yes the sounds are the same but I moved on from the ME90 as it’s physically quite a big and heavy unit. I needed something more compact for gigging. The signal path is fixed in the ME90 as well, but it does have knobs so it feels like a real pedal board if you dislike menu surfing
Hi Lee, do you notice some ground issues with your gx10, especially with high gain presets ? Mine is unusable 😩 even with the noise suppressor and original power supply 😢
May I ask, what input level do you set? Turn up till peaking into red then turn down, keep at zero or turn level down as some suggest? Your tone doesn’t sound fizzy at all.
Here’s a question, the Boss ME90 has the ability to change patches up and down but also has a switch to turn it to stomp box mode so can the GX10 do that or do you only have the ability to assign that setting in the menu?
So maybe that boxy sound its what i hear in every ir from the GX100...i dont know how to describe it. But if you hear every amp which is own ir (original appears on the GX100 and GX10) i can hear some sound that sound similar on all. Could be that? Or the method that Boss capture the sounds? I mean all on mid or high gain sound is where I notice this. Congratulations for your videos. You use the GX10 but is the same on GX100.
Hey Lee, love your channel and videos. So is this unit fairly easy to use and navigate through. I know there’s gonna be a learning curve with any modeler, but I’m not a real tech savvy guy, and I just don’t want it to be to complicated to use
I watched one Chanel where a guy was just playing through all the amps and presets, and it sounded horrible. Idk if he wasn’t doing something right or not
If they don't sound at least decent then he's probably doing something wrong. The easiest ways to mess up are (1) not setting output to direct/phones and (2) not adjusting input gain properly.
I've got a GX-100 and have to say that most of the factory presets sound awful to my ears. However, if you play around with it you can get some really great tones. I think the software is great too, despite what some people say. The assigns make it very versatile.
Hi Lee, thanks very much for your demonstration Of this Boss Product . I won't be throwing my money 💰🤑 away again on this one. I find incredible that a company like Boss can put out this version of a processor , where the end user has got to provide his own IR and D/R effects not only that that the Gain parameters on its own flagship Distortions are limited to 3 pathetic notch settings that don't actually add any more are less distortion but only seem to adjust the volume settings slightly. . Thanks again much appreciated for the demo . Think that BOSS needs a Kick 🦶 up the butt and get to whats real. John

@@MustangBasssman I wanted to show how you can remove that boxy sound some people complain is inherent in IRs. Glad you liked it

Really enjoying these videos. The X-Modded is an awesome amp, by far my favourite on my GX-100.
This is a very informative video.
Thank you
Fantastic video👍 got one of these gx10's will definitely try this
Excellent stuff, loving your GX-10 videos and find them super useful and well explained.
This was so helpful. Thank you Lee 🤘🤘🎸
more on gx10 please 😢
Cheers Lee, that was great!

great!
Great video
Brilliant!! Ty!
HELPFULL 🤗
can you create your own presets and save them?
Absolutely
Boss GX colors the sound of all non Boss IR'S... So I've found the Boss "Original" IR to generally sound the best regardless of patch I'm using.
Awesome - would it work with clean sound as well?
Yes, absolutely
@ great😊 And merry Christmas and happy new year. Regards from Denmark 🎄

No global eq needed
I just got the GX-10. I'm not much into the over driven tones. Can you do a video based on the clean tones this unit offers? Thanks.
Check out my previous vid!

Yes, absolutely you can run monitors from the outputs. You can also use the gx10 as a full interface. It’s fully flexible
Can you also make not high gain just mid gain only.. for versatile use tone lead and rythm overdrive

Just convenient to hook everything up that way for recording.
Did they fix the frequency in the cabs they limited it to 5k in gx100 which effected the sound
I don’t use the cabs so can’t comment
@ good choice I don’t use for my fractal either or my Moore ge1000 I think these sound best through return loop into head into cab!

Could you compare the GX10 with the ME90 ? Is the AIRD the same sound on a cheaper model?

I have to say, no I don’t. In fact it’s one of the quietest units I’ve ever used. Yours may be faulty or maybe needs a different power supply?
@ the gx10 is not grounded, the output must be connected to a cab or PA, I just discover this 😅 merry Christmas 🎁
