I was going to see him July 9th at the BTT center in Ft Lauderdale, but we are going on a cruise to Alaska, so I will miss him,,, very disappointed....was looking forward to taking my son.....
Electric Light Orchestra is a fantastic band. What astounded me most when I saw Jeff Lynne’s ELO live in concert a couple of years ago, is the contrast between how they sound on a personal electronic device or hi fi stereo & how they sound in a large entertainment venue with a professional sound system. They sounded about 3000x as good in the large venue. This is truly a band that MUST be experienced live to be truly appreciated.
Jeff Lynne is known to be somewhat of a perfectionist who aims to deliver stage performances that are as good as the original studio recordings. Without a doubt, Jeff is a master producer, song writer and arranger.
@@frandanco6289 Sorry Fran you seem so offended that I think he should get more recognition. It's just an appreciation of the man's music and talent that's all! Oh and by the way I was in high school when ELO originally formed, but thanks for taking some years off my age!
He is not underrated! There’s always gonna be somebody like you on every damn video who has to 2:13 squawk out nonsense… There is nobody that matters who doesn’t know how great this man is… He is not under rated at all… He is worshiped
I agree, the music of the 60s and 70s was and still is great. Im 61 yrs old and still listen to only 60-70s. If time travel ever happens Im headed back to 60-70.
Jeff Lynne sounds as good as he did in the 70's, that was an era when music had a value and the words described life as it was and how it should be what a shame that value is lost today.
Exactly,..."strange pain in my insides"...nicely put...I felt the same way as a kid [and now] whenever I listened [or listen] to Jeff Lynne. All his songs...but the song that always floored me the most was Last Train To London.
Strange Magic is positively one of the best songs in ELO's vast catalogue. Simply incredible with that melancholy guitar intro. Gives me goosebumps each time.
Yeah I was 9 in 1975 but I had older family that would take me cruising in my Cousins 68 GTO jamming to ELO and BTO in Bill Stevens GTO start of a cool song in Springfield Ohio!
You know it's real talent when a band sounds the same live as they do in the studio. That means no electronic doodads to mask their ability (or lack thereof!) But to sound the same 40 years later? Now that is nothing short of spectacular!
Did this particular version of ELO re-record all the original ELO songs for a CD? If not then they do not sound the same live as they do in the studio ( If they did that is different). I like the ELO from the early 70's and on the group we all know and love. (Jeff, Richard, Kelly, Mik, Bev, Hugh and Melvyn). This version of ELO does not even have a violin. Yes Jeff and Richard are great but they do sound different it's not terrible but not as good to me.
Everyone who complained about ELO hasn’t seen them live. They traveled with a full orchestra, a choral ensemble and performed their songs exactly like their studio music. It was complicated and fantastically complex and beautiful
Jeff is undoubtedly the most UNDER-RATED musicians of all time. His voice, his lyrics, putting The Wilburys together in 3 days..he is beyond awesome. Thank you Jeff, just hearing your voice is so soothing. So humble, so freaking talented..Amazing man.
@@TC-dw6wg They, Jeff, George and Bob where driving around Mulholland and Tom Petty drove past...Bob had a studio set up, he and Tom were close and then George's in with Roy pulled it together. Three days and the were at it 24/7. Egos checked at the door. It is amazing to listen to Tweeter and The Monkey Man, knowing the song and all the others came together that quickly.
Who's underating him? He's a world famous musical genuis,, inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE), Songwriters Hall of Fame, just to name a few!
"...can never die. There's more to it than meets the eye." I always thought ELO was too commercial. I have a tendency not listen to what the radio plays... anyway, I watched Jeff's involvement with the other bands and I always had this idea that Jeff was more than the leader of a band. As it turns out, he's probably a Catastrophist, which is cool, because I can prove the science to you, but that Jeff knows is my fun way of dealing with the knowledge. Can't prove it, but I could make you wonder. lol Anyway, I've been listen to ELO now... a lot.
Jeff is such a great musician/producer, he can perform live and have it sound like studio quality perfection. Thanks, Jeff, for your contributions, both with your band and above and beyond ELO...Wilburys and Beatles.
I noticed the same thing. This is the real deal, every instrument and voice is being performed live here, there is no backtrack. Absolutely incredible performance by a LOT of talented people!
Oh wow!! Am 68 yrs old.. retired ..Army veteran…when young…couldn’t..afford it still can’t afford to go see him in concert .. though it is all good love him and his music…keeps me strong…
Funny you should mention that quote from John Lennon. Upon returning to the U. S. in late 1974 from an 8-month Med. Cruise on the USS Blakely DE1072, e had been isolated from top-40 radio for quite sometime. When we approached the East coast of the U.S. and came into reach of Hit Radio stations, someone out on deck had a radio turned up and we heard this song "Can't Get it Out of My Head". All of us thought it was a new song by Lennon (maybe even a new Beatles Reunion Song). Not to mention the 3 surviving Beatles hired Jeff to produce their 1995 single releases of one of John's long lost songs........Sorry about the long rant.
There’s no accounting for dipsticks & negative Nellie’s…………this guy could melt butter with this rendition of Strange Magic…..it’s like liquid music! I can’t drink enough of it 💙💙💙💙💙
I agree 100%. I'm big ELO fan. I first heard this around March 1976. I was a United States Marine stationed at Camp LeJeune. I was in love with a local girl in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Semper Fi from an old Marine Sergeant
anofi berry yes it is. Beatiful voice. I want to go back to 1976, Sergeant in the Marine Corps. Miss those days, no worries, just take care of self and my Marines in my squad.
anofi berry your welcome. I'd do it again. My whole family was US Army, from World War Two, The Korean War, Vietnam War, Desert Storm, the War on Terrorism. I have cousins who were in the Army and younger cousins, nephews all in the Army. Im the only Marine on both sides of my family. When we have family reunions they give me down the road. I tell them Im a Marine at 62 yrs old and I can take it. So proud to have served our country. Semper Fi.
@Jeff Lynne As a child of the 60's and 70's, I was blessed by your music, because it filled my heart and soul with an intense euphoria; especially with "Strange Magic" which I'd immediately crank up (volume) and do my own sort of "interpretive dance" until the song ended. As much as I LOVE MY MUSIC though, I've only attended a handful of concerts in my life - my last, was in Nashville. My teenage Grandson accompanied me to see KISS's "End of the Road" performance at Bridgestone Arena. If you tour in 2022 and are anywhere NEAR Atlanta, Nashville, or (especially) Knoxville, Tennessee, I WILL BUY TICKETS TO YOUR SHOW!!! NOTE: For a smaller but more intimate venue, check out The Tennessee Theater, for superior accoustics! 😘
Everytime I hear this song, brings me back to growing up in the 70;s in a small dusty town listening to it on my little red transistor radio I bought at the the Radio Shack....

Just being able to coordinate an orchestra and get this much great vibe out of it, is a feat of engineering in its self. I've listened to his music since the late 70's and have loved it ever since.
That's not so good news. Excellent live concerts are better than studio outputs, think Supertramp, Genesis etc. So maybe that's a bit the problem with this concert: although its sounding very nice, it doesn't take any risks, adds no new solo's, the spaceship never encounters a clear air turbulence and everyone on stage looks so ridiculously handsome. In the end, it all starts to look and sound a bit too much sanitized, like a too well kept lawn, and misses some spontaneity. Perfection has a boring edge in the end.
@@Retroscoop I saw them when this album came out in Oakland Coliseum Arena and on a scale of 1 -10 the volume was set at 591. We wadded up napkins and plugged our ears and then we could recognize what song they were performing. It was really loud, even though I like loud music, it was beyond that of jet fighter at take off. We loved the show once we adjusted the volume.

Never stop listening 🎶 🙌 ❤️ 👏 ♥️ to these guys. Grew up with them had all their albums Just beautiful 🎶 🎵 2024 and beyond..
Jeffs vocals are still so very magical.
I saw them live in Melbourne in 77. Its was insane. The same year I saw Fleetwood Mac on the Rumours tour
@@zapkvr I envy you!

I'll be seeing them in about a week and a half at Mohegan Sun
I saw them too....twice. How true!
I could swear I was listening to the record. Perfect.
Yes sounds just like a record. ELOs greatest hit. The 70s were great.
Jeff Lynne is known to be somewhat of a perfectionist who aims to deliver stage performances that are as good as the original studio recordings. Without a doubt, Jeff is a master producer, song writer and arranger.
It's rare for a live performance to be as good as the original recording. This is awesome!
I actually like this more than the record.
Steven Carinci Ain't that the truth. Jeff Lynne in HD live! lol. I still have the vinyl!
Wow!!!! Unbelievable!! It's like it's 1975 again!!!! Jeff Lynne looks like he's straight out a time machine from 1975!!!!

Yes, we are in the Presence of Greatness
Not underrated
Jim Harrison --- Who said he is "so underrated"???? You???? You were not even born when ELO came out, so you really know Nothing...
So glad I grew up in the 60 and 70s and got to hear all these great groups when they were brand new and so was i:)
I agree, the music of the 60s and 70s was and still is great. Im 61 yrs old and still listen to only 60-70s. If time travel ever happens Im headed back to 60-70.
Feb. 9 2023..love elo !!
Jeff Lynne sounds as good as he did in the 70's, that was an era when music had a value and the words described life as it was and how it should be what a shame that value is lost today.
Amen
Thanks
UuuiThanks.
Yes,you are 100% right!
The 70’s were magic....
Jeff, the best of the best. And the lady next to him, well, STUNNING and then some.
@johnnydelbravo Thank's Johnny for sharing. No, I had no idea who she was. I will research more her Zazu album later. Pete.

You looking soucy!!!!!!
I get strange pain in my insides when listening to ELO. You can’t buy that feeling. It only comes with true beauty. Thank you ELO, Jeff Lynne ♥️💕
Agree with you.
100%
Wish we could all go back in time , absolutely brilliant.
I get weepy and fundamentally wistful for those days...what a gift
Yeah I was 9 in 1975 but I had older family that would take me cruising in my Cousins 68 GTO jamming to ELO and BTO in Bill Stevens GTO start of a cool song in Springfield Ohio!
Same!
We who are in our 70s enjoyed the best of times, didn’t we? Those were the days!
You know it's real talent when a band sounds the same live as they do in the studio.
That means no electronic doodads to mask their ability (or lack thereof!)
But to sound the same 40 years later? Now that is nothing short of spectacular!
I saw the Little River Band at a club in Lynchburg, VA over 10 yrs ago and they sounded EXACTLY like their CD's! I was blown away!
Now that's a jam reminds Me of.my ex-brother In-law johnny chingas RIP
Quantum Consciousness Journey in the Steve Perry days were the same. You couldn't tell the diff between live or vinyl!
I'm going to see him 8/22 at MSG! Ohhhhhhhhh I can't wait!!!
Everyone who complained about ELO hasn’t seen them live. They traveled with a full orchestra, a choral ensemble and performed their songs exactly like their studio music. It was complicated and fantastically complex and beautiful
How could anyone complain about ELO. Magic. Saw them 3xs in concert. I was so lucky. So different from anyone with one of the best vocalist ever.
The Traveling Wilburys was George Harrison’s baby. Jeff was with him when they began recruiting their brothers
Key Largo -- Who Said Jeff Lynne was EVER Under-Rated????? You were not even there when ELO came out... Quit saying dumb stuff like this...
amazing, indeed! singing the late roy orbison's part in "handle with care" at the tribute to george concert.....⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Flying through a sun in a broken stone age dome ?????! What is this bringing back to the days of my life
Does anyone else feel like Jeff Lynne owns a time machine?
I Would Like to See The Blueprints for That Time Machine
I certainly think there's a portrait in his attic !
He shares it with Ringo.....
Can't prove it, but I could make you wonder. lol Anyway, I've been listen to ELO now... a lot.
Well put...
Indeed.
And Composer.
And with Tom Petty as producer
Jeff, was great whenever he stepped on stage and with who ever was with him, just awesome
Well folks, take 5 seconds and gaze you eyes on what's known as a true artist. To me this is pure perfection..

Paul McCartney (edit) once said that had the Beatles stayed together, this (ELO) is what they would have evolved into. The ultimate compliment.
@Rocky Sullivan, it was actually Paul that said that.
@@mikeymillions1486 Thanks Mike, I stand corrected. Fixing it.
@@mikeymillions1486 Are you sure? All the sources I can find say it was Lennon.

I agree 100% Stephen.. She is just beautiful!!!.
Because it's "effortless," she doesn't have to act like a 'ho to be sexy, it just comes naturally.
Omg. I have no idea why. These songs are in my head 24 hours today. So amazing, I literally can’t stop hearing this in my head.

Strange Magic is the Soundtrack of my teen life. Beautiful and very emotional. One of the best songs EVER. 🙏🏼☮️♥️🍀
I totally agree with you, Ree... 💕
@@protectedbyangels3945 I'm so very grateful to have been there for the really great music. ✌🏼💖🤗

And I remember this song with the radio on, making out with my first true love in my '72 VW Beetle in a suburban setting in 1977...

Just being able to coordinate an orchestra and get this much great vibe out of it, is a feat of engineering in its self. I've listened to his music since the late 70's and have loved it ever since.

Still sounds good all these years later. I listened to ELO on holiday this year and couldn't stop my feet tapping. Thanks Jeff for keeping this alive.
These two songs deserve WAY MORE views than they currently have.
The best part of watching this video over the years is that Rosie remains beautiful and never ages.
Sounds like a studio recording, unbelievable.
They sound better live, great effort given.
