I am African American born in 1966 and grew up in the 70s and 80s color was blind in music lyrics and instruments were the only base we used..I love the Eagles .Chicago .. Fleetwood Mack...Barry White...Isley brothers....i could go on and on... the whole era... everything about those days were beautiful to me ..wish I had a time machine I go back forever
Oh yes, sometimes I want to turn back the clock... it was a great time!
W 1967 here , music was the best in those days brought us all together.
Unfortunately that changed starting in 2008 , division talk became the norm
You and me both. Time has gotten away to fast. 70’s and 80’s Rock will always rule 💙💙
What a beautiful time to be alive when color didn't matter and great music was made and people danced with eachother! I'm so jealous of everyone that got to grow up in that time it was so much simpler. I was born in 1993 and my mom and dad said I'm an old soul and that as much as I love everything about the 60s 70s and 80s they said I would have fit in great back then
Same, '78.
The world is starved for this type of music again
Amen!
Yes it is 🙏
Exactly,!!!!!! It has Meaning 😂
So True !! 😎💕
Don Henley
I’m 72. I was there when it happened. I am so grearful.
GRATEFUL ❤❤😊
Me too ❤
People have no idea how good the music of the 70s and 80's were ❤
Fine to elucidate, there are far too many ignorant people out there. Who can't or doesn't appreciate the fact music pre-2000 was frankly at a whole another level.
And I'm talking 1960-2000 Elvis, the Beetles, the BeeGees, the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac, etc.
White American, Black American, the UK invasions timeless classics that are even better because they're real music and real music 🎶
Amen, Brother!
Sure about that? Lol
@@headleygrange6205😅😅 I see what you did
My dad used to say that about Guy Lombardo!
My dad used to say something similar to that about Guy Lombardo!
83 years old and I still stay up late nights listening to the Eagles ! Best music ever.❤
I’m up now reading your awesome comment!Youre 83 and you’re Amazing with great musical taste sir
63 and still listening
Countless people on planet. Yet there they are. Together. Naturally...how
Good music keeps us youthful. I'm sure you have many stories.
72 and still play Hotel California in a band 😆🥰
I'm 55 years old. Listened to this music as a kid and has always stayed with me. Why? Because this music is absorbed by your soul and becomes part of you! Do you agree? :)
Yes. I’m the same age, same experience
Yes I agree with you 💯
TOTALLY... 💯%
Absolutely!

Don Felder with another iconic riff. Understated, doesn't overpower, but blends perfectly with Timothy's beautiful voice. Exactly what the song required.
The amount of harmony in the Eagles is insane, this song is so beautiful ❤️ 4/20/2024)
I remember this song so well , I was a 15 year old girl in love with a boy who lived 1 block from me . I would hear this song and just fall in love more and more with him . This boy is now my husband of 42 yrs and my love grows stronger and stronger everyday he is my best friend as well as my lover . Thank you Eagles for all the chills and for the life I have now .

What a great life.
Just awesome✌️

Oh the memories…who else is still loving the Eagles music in 2024

Never stop listening to the Eagles. ❤
loving being 66 and still listening to the eagles! God is good!
63 here, it's the best ❤
My papa just died last week and was buried today. The only video we have where we can hear his voice is of him singing this song. I'm glad my godfather was able to upload it. We will always love you, Ping. ❤☝🏽
Oh you lost your dad. My condolences. That's so sad. The eagles must be extra precious for you. ❤
My condolences for your loss.

They’re not oldies…they’re classics♥️
They’re timeless
We Sure Are ; Just Like Cars 🤭
I agree
Well said.
Oldies are good, but really that is a genre of 1950s Music, a la "Blue Moon."
The songwriting is poetically genius, the musicianship is masterful, the singing is perfectly pitched. The Eagles epitomize craftmanship.
Felder’s work was priceless. They really dropped the ball with him, IMO.
As a little girl of color in the 70’s I can’t tell you how thankful I am that my mom loved all types of music and exposed us to all types of music, the Eagles was one of her favorite groups, when I hear this song I can feel her presence still here with me.
I grew up the same as you,I was 15 when i heard the Eagles.
My mother didn't miss a trick, she played everything!
I miss her singing with the radio in the kitchen and harmonizing with her.She raised 3 girls on her own and introduced us to music, including instruments. Miss her & and to you I say Thanks for the memory hugs
What the fuck has color got to do with listening to music? Why did you feel the need to mention you were a colored person? We don't give a shit, we're listening to music.
Girl of colour... lol! What colour were you? I was purple.
Me too this is still one of my favorites ❤

I love it
The ultimate slow dance song from JR- SR HIGH
True!!!!
That's how STRONG the Eagles were as a band; no matter who took Lead Vocals, they had a Hit. That's impressive!
Ikr!!!!!❤
Their harmonies are also so impressive. What a great song this is.
For all new upcoming bands. This is how it's done! No gimmicks just great musicianship. Rog. Pacific sunset records
U can c the look of "we nailed that" on their faces, just satisfaction at how smooth everything came together, some perfection right there!
It's not the lead vocals that carried the song alone, it's that damn guitarist/s ... they really made the songs deliver with a kick
that side profile shot of Glen Frey...😢 hope you re in heaven man. ❤❤❤❤❤
One of the top 10 bands ever. Period. Every member brought something to the group. Sad that we're all growing old,but we got the memories of hits like this. Thank you Eagles ❤
Don Felder on lead guitar ... that lazy, smoothly way of playing ... Genius ...
Damn, I love that riff!!
Don was a genius
Haunting solo. Excellent.
Love it!!
@pietvandenbussche6341
That's why he was called Don "fingers" Felder. He's one of my favorites.
That final guitar solo hits hard...nostalgia, sorrow, melancholy. It's all there.
Was just thinking the same.....
great description..... adjectives. I'm old enough to know this song, but appreciate more now......
You wouldn't think an electric guitar could elicit emotion, but it sure can. Very similar to the guitar solo in Toto's "I Won't Hold You Back".
Absolutely!
Wait... I took the time tonight at 1:15am PST to watch the expressions on each of their faces because this song has always ripped me to shreds... the words, instruments, that deep moving beginning on the piano to the sadness at the end with the guitar. Oh and the harmony of them all behind Timothy. #musicislife
This song wouldn’t be this song without Timothy B Schmidt. Such a beautiful voice! Harmonies perfect, melts my heart and soul ❤ The Eagles are timeless ❤
Sooo true...
now this is music, not the shit you hear on the radio today.
This is what's called a perfect song...billion years from now still will be..

I feel the same way. I have to say, it's my favorite song. There's nothing about it that's not perfectly beautiful.
Totally :)
I have always loved the Eagles music, but this song & Timmy's beautiful voice I just love listening to it, and I play it at least once a week.
The man should have gotten more leads. About 38 years ago I saw Jimmy Buffett and he was playing in the Coral Reefers and sang this song!
God Schmidt is such a talent. The whole damn band. Simply unreal.
True!!!!
The real stuff never ages.
They must have all been perfectionist.
It shows.
RIP the two members of The Eagles
Randy Meisner (March 8, 1946 - July 26, 2023), aged 77
Glenn Frey (November 6, 1948 - January 18, 2016), aged 67
You both will be remembered as legends.
We are running out of genius of such a kind, and sincerely nowadays we do not have an stardom of musicians, voices, etc have gone Mr. Bennett too, one of the last living legends, if not the last. I do hope no one try to do that kind of revamps, let's talk about Queen, without Mercury, Supertramp, without Hodgson or Davies, the list shall be long enough.
Definite buzz-kill
SO sad to hear about Randy's passing. 😢
Music will never be 70s great ever again !
@@MadridSoulbrother So sad. My favorite groups Eagles & Poco 😥💔
There is no denying that every member of The Eagles is extremely talented. Thank you Eagles for this song!
That's why they were so successful. Every band member knew how to make music and play it.
The best song!
LOVE Timothy B Schmidt's vocals!🎼
Don Felder is so effing smooth; such an amazingly talented and criminally underappreciated lead guitarist, and as much as I loved Randy Meisner Timothy B. Schmit more than carried his weight with the Eagles.
Supergroup
I love this song. I can’t tell you why.
Pure, clean, sweet perfection ❤

This is R&B music. Played specifically during the "Quiet Storm". Glenn Frey grew up in Detroit during the height of the Motown. That music never left his soul. Great vocal by Timothy Schmit
Fingers Felder never failing to impress... especially on those licks & fills ❤️
Walsh is king but Felder is great too.
Why did Felder and Frey hate each other so much?
@@stopthephilosophicalzombie9017 Because Felder tried for a long time to have Frey & Henley make him a full-fledged partner in the band, as he deserved, but the selfish pr*cks screwed him over. The song "Heartache Tonite" is about a near fistfight that almost happened between Frey & Felder.
That guitar solo is beautiful.
68 years old. This song never gets old. Their studio recordings were always clean and mixed so well. Sublime!
thats because they worked their asses off on them!!! Such talent, at this point they were really burnt out , strung out form the road, fighting, coked out ..but able to hold it together to make this epic LP!!
Miss Glenn so, so much😞. Didn't know he was in so much pain for so long😪😪😪. But, omg!!! He still helped produced some of the best music EVER! And his special voice can't copied. Amazing special group.

He quite a bit of backing vocals with folks like James Taylor, etc. Super vocals
His voice is amazing, I haven't listened to this for years.
Former bass player before him Randy Meisner have a great voice as well. Seems Felder was the only one who couldn't sing to Eagles standard.
I’m 27 years old, my dad is 67, I’m so lucky to have been brought up listening to this album
Oh, Timothy B. Smitt, he is so beautiful with the voice of an angel. The Eagles were so good, I get a peaceful easy feeling, when I hear them & see them, the 70’s were sooo great!!!❤❤❤❤
The Eagles, one of the best bands to ever perform on this planet.
Their sound makes you feel so much calmer, no worries or stress at all.
That's genius talent!
That's exactly why I'm listening to it late this evening. The holidays are over - gotta just calm down and relax. And, here it is - perfection!😊
Well said. I went to Wildwood New Jersey in 1972 with my best friend to (try to) see Yes. We had no tickets, lol. So there we are sitting on the boardwalk outside the theater as the warm-up band began to play. Just then we were able to score some tickets from a scalper. I had no idea who the band was, but I was absolutely blown away right from that moment and for the hour or so they played. We got to our seats halfway through the first song. The song was Witchy Woman and the band...well, that's obvious! They were every bit as good as Yes, which is really saying something. That began my love affair with the Eagles that has lasted to this day.
@@dowaliby1, great story! The funny thing is, neither this song nor the lead singer appeared on stage that night. So who was better that night: Yes or The Eagles?
Dodge, it was a straight up tie!
Well said sir!
This music transcends time, color, race, gender, politics, etc, etc...Real music!!
Yes it does
Music brings people together 😊
Very accurate 👌
And of course someone has to bring up race or gender leave all that crap out of music
I really believe the "sweet spot" for American rock and roll was from 1973-1982. Early in that period you had Allman Bros Band, Doobie Bros Skynyrd,. Steely Dan Grand Funk Aerosmith. And in the latter part of that period you had the cars van halen Journey, REO, ZZ top. But in the sweet spot of the sweet spot there were EAGLES. An alpha male band, with great vocals, harmonies, lyrics, guitar wok etc. Their over sized egos actually were overshadowed by a huge amount of talent.
And at the end of the day, even 50 years later. there simply is no comparison.
The soundtrack of GenX.
Don't forget Talking Heads. They are a post-rock band but they are truly awesome.
I was watching a pretty lame 60 minutes documentary about the 2019 tour and they were rehashing all the breakups and everyone kept mum during the interview section and Joe Walsh was typically very meek and self effacing while you could tell Frey, Felder and Henley still walk around with towering egos. I swear I can see why Walsh escaped into drugs and alcohol with all that competition between those three guys about who the real "stars" of the Eagles were.
THANK YOU TIMMY, YOUR VOICE IS INCREDIBLE!
I am a black woman of 58 and this brings back so many memories. These guys touch your soul
❤❤❤❤
Well in the 1970's nobody gave a crap whether you were black or not. Why do you have to announce to the whole world now? Is it that important....

Timothy B Schmidt was so under appreciated as a vocalist.
Yeah in the band before the eagles
This song was Timothy Schmidt’s debut into the Eagles, 1979. A beautiful ballad. He had one platinum hit and then the band demised. The Eagles came back in 1994-& Timothy came with them. Look @ his youth; just like us back in the ‘70s ~me, a new-be at The Ohio State University when Woody Hayes was there.

Each member of the Eagles was an extraordinarily talented artist that demonstrated a serious committment to his craft - every one a "type A" overachiever. In particular, Tim's vocals and Don's guitar solos are stunning in their smooth clarity and soulfulness. When I first heard this song as a teenager, it stopped me in my tracks. Powerful art like this has a way of grabbing your attention and not letting go. More than forty years later, it still has the same effect on me whenever I hear it.
