- First roll out for 2017. Hopefully i have more time this year to drive the Corvette at the ring. But next time we need to adjust the ride height again...car is still to low. :-( dont want to risk a serious crash so i was driving alittle bit slower. But will it beat 6:52 in the end?

The best thing about a Corvette is that howling sound it makes no V8 howls like a Corvette LS motor
Tell me about it... Right now I'm in my second Corvette ... First one was a c5 ls1 and now a c6 ls2 both base models but man that sound it's unique
I swear and it’s almost like LS engines sound different when they’re in a corvette. You can’t get a Camaro with the same engine to scream the same way a vette does

I have a 15 1le, cammed headers, catless xpipe, borlas. Revs to 7000. It’s pretty close to vette sounding but I know what you mean. Vettes sound unique

Nothing like a push rod 16 valve American V8... Nothing.
That was fast. The car handled, turned in, and braked incredibly. The braking under deceleration, ending with a hard turn, shows how settled and composed that car is. I'll take his word for it that it was set up too low, and he wasn't pushing it, but man... that was impressive
Damn this chassis just keeps on impressing me. I know this build isnt cheap but knowing what it is rivaling is crazy impressive. Great driving.
The only crazy part is giving the car more torque with the same mass. And still having a top speed and fuel efficiency.
7:10!!! Take away the slower unpredictable traffic and your passenger and this car is at least 5 to 7 seconds quicker. In spite of this, Great job!!
well the zr1 c6 has a lap time of 7:19:63 so if hes running 7:10 as is that alone if pretty good
even more so when you consider the C6z06 ran 7:22 in the Nürburgring

Further motivated by your excellent driving I fulfilled a dream and purchased a new 2019 Corvette C7 Grand Sport with a Manual Transmission. Completed the Ron Fellows Corvette Owner School at Spring Mountain raceway in Nevada. Absolutely love my Corvette and learning to balance the car with throttle, steering, and shifting at speed. Have had manual transmission cars my whole life, and even lived in Germany for years (didn’t drive the Ring, sadly). Driving a rwd car with big power through a manual is incredibly satisfying. Thank you for your excellent video!

Would love to know what the suspension setup was on this car (remote coilovers/adjustable sway bars, etc..) In the midst of building a C6.R replica for "spirited" twisty driving and track use. Unreal driving man.. Really shows what these cars can do with a competent driver.
thx mate. suspension is Bilstein MDS, swaybars are Pfadt, dorp spindels from LG. I run 3° camber all around and 2mm toe out in the front and 1mm toe in at the rear. hope this helps.

You can hit a 6:50, maybe better. I can tell you were taking it easy around the turns and you had traffic. This thing can pull a lot faster of a time.

Power band is so nice , I did see many curves taken in second gear ..
The speedometer goes well over the maximum speed many times during this run.I am impressed [ shocked ] how well brakes do on this corvette.
To be fair I believe he has it in KM/h mode. Great car though and a very fast run
its either KM/H mode or he has after market final drive that would make the wheelspeed not match original

Urban POV thanks. I guess it can go 20 seconds faster without a passenger, propper ride height and repaired gearbox (had a broken 5 gear). But never had the chance to set a propper time. 😟

Yes, I was of the same opinion, having owned only German cars and even lived in Germany for years. Recently purchased a new Corvette C7 Grand Sport with a Manual Transmission, and it’s an amazing car with precise and incredibly capable handling. The Americans have truly arrived with sports cars.

Would you mind reshooting this video with the speedo set back to MPH? Chevy had a cool idea in how it switches for normal driving, but it's essentially useless with this majestic sounding vette on (in my opinion) the greatest track in at least our galaxy... Most likely a very inaccurate speedo due to change in diff ratio, definitely not over 200mph
@@Thou1 speedo is reading km/h on a mp/h dash (you can switch) diff ratio won't affect speedo reading, tire size will, but not that drastically
even if its true he was using Kh/p the fact his needle stays around the 160 to 200 on the gage means hes still moving pretty fast, i know on my C5 if i change between mph and khp it only changes by about 30.
60khp is like 35 mph in the C5

How is the tuned enging holding during racing. Is it reliable with the heads and cam?
The engine is build by Heinz Schenck from CCRP, so its bullet proof and super reliable. Never had any issues! But the gearbox... 😅

The synchro’s on the gearboxes are a bit sensitive I’ve heard. Do you have the T56 or T6060?

After all these years I doubt you'll see this, but I'm curious what your exhaust setup is, it sounds really really good on camera! It's the sound I'm going for with my C6Z, I'm planning on putting together and 8000+ rpm setup, and half the reason I want to do that is because of the sound lol.
Exhaust ist from LG Motorsport, long tube headers etc.

Auto Blib ist ok, nicht so perfekt wie bei den aktuellen Porsche Modellen aber es tut seinen Dienst. Leider wa r das Getribe in der Runde kaputt weshalb ich nicht richtig schalten konnte und auch nur den 3+4 Gang benutzt habe da der 5 kaputt war.

It seems like I live in constant panic that GM will someday move away from the push rod design, they can't though, they are known the world over as building the best power plants on earth, now they need to get a push rod engine in the C8R, that overhead cam engine is weak, in fact the only weak point of that car.

Hi, due to the fact this was only a passanger lap, iam sure i easily could get arround 15-20 seconds faster. A propper gearbox, no traffic etc. will improve the laptime by maybe another 10-15 seconds. But thats all theory...
