well the education level is higher and the process of getting a Driver's license is strict, not like U.S. ..in California getting a DL only takes like 2 to 3 days....Writing test, Training, Road Test, Done.
It must be so nice to have a highway systems that people can really use and respect. The closest thing I can think of here in the States might be the state of Montana. The only time I visited Germany, the Autobahn was gridlocked. Good video. Thanks for sharing.
The funny thing is, if you look at some of the cars hes waiting to pass, they're still usually at 200-230 kph... (assuming his speedo is correct) that's still a cool 120 - 140+ mph for those of us in the states. Crazy.
I don't think his speed is accurate, at the end he enters those curves with 90-100 km/h , as tight those curves are there should have been some tyre screeching.
My squad leader had a 2004 BMW M3,we got on the Autobahn and got to 156 mph a 911 Porsche Turbo passed us it was goldish brown. The next day saw it parked where our motor pool was i finally found the owner a prior service vet. I asked was it him he said yes,he was in a hurry he was going to the red light district in Frankfurt...how fast he was going he said bout 178 or so ..the avg speed was about 85 my Ford Explorer couldn't handle it..lol.. Germany was alot of fun you youngster join the military and see the world...
I was stationed in Nellingen which is very close to Stuttgart, Germany. I was there in 74, back when things were really nice, no terror shit going on back then, Vietnam troops were being pulled out. Got to travel all over Europe and of coarse driving was really something, I heard about the autobahn so I had to try it. And yes I had a porsche turbo pass me probably going over 150 mph, truly amazing!!

Yes, they are limited. 205 mph limit, just as David says. The ZR1 definitely hits it. A strong Z06 might, usually a little short of that. Official drag-limited top speed of the Z06 is 198. The electronic limit at 205 also exists.
Europe needs more V8's, I have daily driven American cars since 2009 and there is no way getting back to European cars. If the maintenance would not be so ridiculous I would get a V12 Mercedes-Benz. I miss my time living in Germany and how well folk drove on the Autobahn, here in Finland the highways are like a circus....

Not with straight-line acceleration. Oil starvation occurs during long massive cornering where the most G's can be produced. Luckily and like Murray says, C6 Z06', ZR1s and the late C6 GS' have dry-sumps so they won't have this issue on the track.
They also have "grown up" with the Autobahn. This has allowed people to learn how to use it. If they did allow this in The US it would take a few years & deaths before people would figure out unless you want to ROLL stay out of the left lane. But in any event you are 100% on.
Your Autobahn video rocks Michael! Now if I can only convince my government to build such a superhighway across the USA. . . and issue special permits and license to those that are skilled can qualify!

bin die C7 Z51 gefahren aber die ist bestimmt über 100 kilo schwerer, und mehr der cruiser) und das merkste bei den alten Stößelstangenmotoren schon weil die oben raus eben nicht so drehfreudig sind. Außerdem bremst das Aeropackage doch etwas ab und bei 280 ist schluß bzw. der 6te und 7te Gang zu lange übersetzt. Die hat aber noch mal ne Ecke mehr Hubraum soweit ich weiß ;-)
habe die C6 noch nie gefahren aber zumindest die C6 Z06 ist natürlich Leistungsmäßig schonmal stärker als die C7; man muss halt die richtigen VErsionen miteinander Vergleichen ;-) Aber ich habe schon inner C6 dringesessen und nja ich war halt von der C7 verwöhnt.....bin gleich wieder raus ;-) Für mich C7 egal ob etwas langsamer aber tolles Auto.
If someone could fund a private road, with strict licensing, and camera's all over the place, and smart people enforcing the strict laws. Just a dream though. I drive back and forth from TN to FL a couple times a year, and people don't seem to understand the whole stay right unless you're passing idea. And everyone thinks the center lane is for god damn cruise control. Yes, I completely understand why we don't have one.
It's sad that it doesn't as I believe many of our interstates could handle this. The problem is our drivers are not trained well and pull out in front of people. That would lead to too many accidents. I would say the average speed on most of our interstates today is about 70 to 75. And I would say you can safely drive about 85 to 90 on them but much beyond that you risk getting in an accident from someone pulling out on you. Traffic/lack of driver training in the US will always be an issue.

Irgendwie stimmt die Kmh Anzeige so ganz und gar nicht. Erstens stimmt das gezeigt kein bischen mit der Getriebeübersetzung des Autos übereinander. Zweitens zeigt das HUD der C5 keine 300 Kmh an. Sondern ist bei 299 zu ende. Schon alles merkwürdig 🤔

Ich kenn so hohe Geschwindigkeiten, auch an der Randbebauung kann man erkennen, dass der Tacho der Corvette ab150 km/h mehr als lügt. Trotzdem ist die C6 Z06 einfach nur der Hammer.

Most of our drivers (not all but most) wouldn't be skilled enough to handle it here in the states. Constantly we would have soccer moms in mini vans still talking on the phone in the left lane and 18 wheelers trying to sneak in a pass over another truck. It would be nice, but I feel like the states will never become open to the idea.
Sad the fast racetrack is its natural habitat and the country that provides this car can't do it justice. The U.S needs to build an autobahn either by East to West or North to South

Man darf sich nicht täuschen lassen vom Video. Der Tacho hat sogar eine geringere Abweichung als vorgeschrieben.

Constantly we would have soccer moms in mini vans still talking on the phone in the left lane and 18 wheelers trying to sneak in a pass over another truck. It would be nice, but I feel like the states will never become open to the idea.
