Paulemics: The history of terrible Muslim arguments against the Apostle Paul

- Muslims on the 9th century faced a problem: their Quran told them it affirms the Scriptures of the Jews and Christians, but the newly translated Arabic Bible didn't remotely matchup with what the Quran says on virtually anything. Abandoning Islam wasn't an option, so they needed a scape goat. It couldn't be Jesus or his disciples, because the Quran declared them to be faithful Muslims. It couldn't emperors or popes, because they came far too late to explain the complete lack of evidence that Jesus ever had any Muslim followers. That only left one candidate - Paul.
And thus was born the field of Paulemics whereby Muslims claim Paul somehow overrode the will of Allah and deceived more than 2 billion people, leaving no one with the "truth" until Muhammad came along six centuries later. Lloyd de Jongh joins me live to explore the history of argument against Paul, with an eye towards how we can better refute them in ways that get through the Muslim walls of ignorance.

It would be interesting to learn why Muslims believe that Christianity suddenly changed 81 years after Jesus's Crucifixion. That would date to around 111-4AD.
However, we know that Domitian was persecuting Christians in the 90s and that after 70AD Christianity effectively became a Gentile religion (a process which Paul and other apostles had begun in the 40s). Christian beliefs and rituals soon developed to become quite distinct from early Rabbinical Judaism (such that by around 90AD Christians were no longer welcome to worship in Synagogues). In any case, the divergence of Christianity and Judaism was complete by the end of the 1st Century.
My thinking leads me to assume that Muslims identify Marcion of Sinope, who promoted his own Gospel and some of Paul's letters, as the point at which Christians started using a canon of Scripture which was different from Jewish Scripture. But then again, Marcion was influential towards the middle of the 2nd Century; but not at the beginning of the century.
I must be missing a few pieces of the Jigsaw puzzle.
I have to smile at the notion that Mohammed picked up a lot of his ideas from Ethiopians then proceeded to call them “raisin heads.”

I was Muslim I’m glad I’m out that religion. It really just held me back and I couldn’t be myself. It’s ran like a cult. I don’t really want to talk bad but I tested the spirits literally. I went to the masjid and Allahs name looked like a snake
It has also been proposed, that the apostle John's vision about the 666 was because he was reading it as Greek, but it was actually Arabic, which was not developed until centuries after John. So, he may have thought it was the numerical value of the "Greek" letters he saw. There are videos and photos where it shows the Greek letters side by side with the Arabic calligraphy writing "allah" and it looks almost identical. 🤷♀

Muslims using St. Paul the Apostle as a scapegoat for explaining away the lack of evidence that Jesus ever had any Muslim followers, is really just an ad-hoc hypothesis in all honesty.

I have visited the grave of prophet Jacob I think in Oman. It was hilarious, he was about 8 meters long, very narrow, like they wrapped a log in silk and put it in. Nobody this narrow and tall would be able to stand. I just wonder if they really believe it's an actual prophet

I first read the Koran 20 years ago. I recognized instantly that it was full of borrowings from heterodox Christianity.

The scariest part of Islam is that you don't even realize you were apart of a cult. The Story of the Dwellers of the Town and Their Messengers, a Lesson that Those Who belied Their Messengers were Destroyed
Allah says, `O Muhammad, tell your people who disbelieve in you,'
مَّثَلاً أَصْحَـبَ القَرْيَةِ إِذْ جَآءَهَا الْمُرْسَلُونَ
(a similitude; the Dwellers of the Town, when there came Messengers to them.) In the reports that he transmitted from Ibn `Abbas, Ka`b Al-Ahbar and Wahb bin Munabbih - Ibn Ishaq reported that it was the city of Antioch, in which there was a king called Antiochus the son of Antiochus the son of Antiochus, who used to worship idols. Allah sent to him three Messengers, whose names were Sadiq, Saduq and Shalum, and he disbelieved in them. It was also narrated from Buraydah bin Al-Husayb, `Ikrimah, Qatadah and Az-Zuhri that it was Antioch. Some of the Imams were not sure that it was Antioch, as we shall see below after telling the rest of the story, if Allah wills.
إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَيْهِمُ اثْنَيْنِ فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا
(When We sent to them two Messengers, they denied them both;) means, they hastened to disbelieve in them.
فَعَزَّزْنَا بِثَالِثٍ
(so We reinforced them with a third,) means, `We supported and strengthened them with a third Messenger. ' Ibn Jurayj narrated from Wahb bin Sulayman, from Shu`ayb Al-Jaba'i, "The names of the first two Messengers were Sham`un and Yuhanna, and the name of the third was Bulus, and the city was Antioch (Antakiyah).

Why do we grow old and die?
GOD did not want humans to die. Our first parents, Adam and Eve, were created with a perfect mind and body.They could still be alive today.This is clear from what God said to Adam about a tree growing in the garden of Eden.
God said to Adam:“The day you eat [from the tree] you will surely die.” Genesis 2:17. This command would have been meaningless if Adam had been created to grow old and die. Adam knew that if he did not eat from that tree, he would not die.

What is the Resurrection?
The Bible's answer
In the Bible,the Greek word translated "resurrection" means "to stand" or "to restore." The resurrected person is resurrected from the dead and is the same person who was before. 1 Corinthians 15:12, 13.
It is true that the word "resurrection" is not found in the Hebrew Scriptures,which are known as the Old Testament, but the promise of resurrection is there.For example,through the prophet Hosea,God promised:“I will rescue them from the hand of the grave, and I will rescue them from death.” Hosea 13:14; Job 14: 13-15; Isaiah 26:19; Daniel 12: 2, 13.
Where will people be resurrected? Some people will be resurrected to live in heaven.There they will reign with Jesus Christ.
2 Corinthians 5: 1; Revelation 5: 9, 10.The Bible calls this resurrection "the first resurrection" and the word "first" makes it clear that there will be another resurrection. Revelation 20: 6 That other resurrection will be for the living on paradise earth, and most of the dead will be resurrected in this way.

How are the dead raised?God gave Jesus the power to resurrect the dead. John 11:25. Jesus will bring to life “all those in the memorial tombs,” each with his own personality, attributes, and memories.

You are right to reach out to Moslems to bring them to Jesus' teachings.
However you should leave out Paul. For Paul not only fails to follow Jesus' teachings, but Paul goes against Jesus' teachings and usurps even specific positions of authority which Jesus had instructed not to.
Furthermore Jesus foretold of false prophets to come and Paul came even as fulfillment of that which Jesus warned and foretold about.
Paul is a True Apostle, Rejecting Paul is unbiblical, If you're a Christian you need to accept Paul.
