- I noticed that my dishwasher wasn't cleaning our dishes very well. Rather than spend hundreds of dollars replacing the whole machine, I spent under $50 replacing the heater element, and now it works like a champ!

Step 1: TURN the breaker off. Ask how I know. There is live 120v power to the dishwasher and the wire maybe too short to get the washer out far enough. I pulled hard, and the washer came out but the wire broke, and plenty of welding.

Might you want to test the resistance on the old element before getting the new one?
I thought about it, but couldn't find the spec.
@@ShopKatIndustries You could ballpark it using the amperage draw label for the whole dishwasher and ohm's law, but my guess is that a burnt one would read infinity. The label might be a bit high in case the element was supposed to be on at the same time as something else, so 90% of the draw label should work as an ideal.
The kid sounds must be on the video because I don't think my housemate's grandson has arrived yet.

Yeah! I had a blurb right at the end of the video that it was successful. In fact, I had to bend it away from the basin a bit, as it started to melt the plastic!
