The mulch is too thick on your plants. Water cant get thru at times forming an impenetrable barrier forcing the roots to the surface making the tree weak.
For those of you with kids… My family didn’t have much money when I was a kid. So many of my friends were given Barbie houses for Christmas. I wanted one but my parents couldn’t afford it. I then came up with an idea when I went with my mom to go grocery shopping. I convinced her to let me bring home 8 boxes the store didn’t need that used to hold canned goods. I glued those boxes together, used my mom’s scrap fabric, used popsicle sticks, etc… I learned to look at things with a creative mind. I ended up building the coolest and best Barbie doll house ever. The neighborhood girls liked mine much more than their store bought ones. Two years later I babysat for some kids. The little girl wanted a dollhouse, but her family didn’t have the money for it. I surprised her one day when my brother helped me walk my homemade Barbie house over to her. This little girl was so thankful!
We weren’t financially stable either so we used an old open front cabinet as a Barbie house. There was three of us girls all 12 months apart, so we loved playing with Barbies.
My father built my Barbie house out of wood. It is the best because he built it for me weeknights while we were living without him. That Christmas we were all together again in our new home and I was in love with it. As a mom, I am not a woodworker. I have made storage from cardboard for my kids; the shoe caddy was the best!
I'm a prop maker, here's how I would approach it. First stick, with any kind of tape, crumpled balls of newspaper (various sizes, anywhere from the size of a marble to a Bible) to the cardboard boxes, then wrap the form in chicken wire (zip ties to connect segments) THEN hit it with a mallet /hammer. This will retain the organic deformations best. Then plaster gause wrap two layers over the chicken wire. Hair dryer will set it in 5 mins. The result will be a feather light plaster form and you can reuse the boxes for the next one, even the chicken wire if you put a plastic dam in between. Then apply the cement (less dry volume will mean it doesn't set so fast, dry, or have to be applied so hurried, as you did, to keep it above the chicken wire - my method will save ingredients, money, and be vastly lighter). Concrete additives can be used for added strength (perhaps avoid fibreglass in favour of natural fibres like straw/ hemp or heshen cloth are all great). You can make the form complete (without an open base/hole) to give it more surface structural tension thus stress is better displaced. Optionally apply a texture with a rubber stamp (or I personally would just roll another stone over it to make the impression, stamping it to look real, talc to stop it sticking). That's how I would have approached it.
Probably someone already said this, but if you make a wet slurry with cement or that mix and dip some pieces of an old bedsheet or rags in it, then you can drape it over your cardboard or chicken wire, and use less mix. I had a friend who made garden statues this way.
That’s exactly the way you would do it you could use any kind of fabric just dip it in the really runny concrete throw the fabric over your structure and let it dry way easier I’m with you
First responders have the same issue! If we can't find you, we can't help you! When time is against you, properly marking your address can play a vital role. Having worked for a small town rescue service, I emplore people, (especially those who live in rural areas, want to live off grid, etc.), just give us something to work with! You don't have to have a neon sign with gps coordinates or anything crazy! Just some 3"- 4" reflective numbers somewhere is all we need!
💯% Please Be Helpful To Delivery Peeps! Moving tons of heavy parcels, in extreme weather conditions, as fast as humanly possible, is bad enough. Please don't make it harder for these essential workers! * Have your delivery address clearly marked near the curb, on the mailbox, and on the house/ delivery door. When possible, add delivery notes/ instructions like "Apartment across from pool on west side, 2nd floor." "House with blue trim. Leave package under bench by window." "Dirt driveway. 3rd house on the left. Brick walkway. Watch for chickens." In the summer, I also put a cooler of drinks and snacks out by my mailbox and a sign telling delivery drivers to take something. It has water bottles, electrolyte drink packets, granola bars, bananas, and individually bagged dill pickles. I worked as a baggage handler for a decade in Phoenix, AZ. Heat can make you sick and even kill. Be safe, Y'all!
One small suggestion that worked great for me: After setting up the chicken wire, I covered the entire set up with wet newspaper. It prevented the wet mortar mix from falling thru the chicken wire, and the moisture helped the mortar stick faster. The newspaper was a cheap way to get the job done.
Own a pool management company and started making rocks for clients a few years ago... Through trial and error I found skip the boxes, use zip ties and chicken wire to get your shape, then paper mache the whole thing a few coats let dry in-between, and the mortar over the whole thing. I can do a dozen at a time start to finish in one day easily. Allows the h to build and fit them together at the same time.
'NECESSITY IS THE MOTHER OF INVENTION' Many of you people never paid enough attention to your elders, they were smarter than you'll ever be. Much tougher too.
Great project! I have another trick for coloring the rocks. I made a ton of concrete paving stones and didn’t want them to look like concrete, so I bought a few of the concrete dye powders that are supposed to be mixed into the mix. However, I put the dyes in small loose knit cloth sacks and used them to dust the wet concrete (like putting pepper on a steak). It gave me total control over the color and mottling of the surface of each individual block. Just thought I’d pass it along. Thanks!
It depends. Since you obviously live in an area with lots of boulders, that means everyone in your area will either already have their own boulders or have many public areas they can take them from. So they would have no reason to pay you for yours, unless it's only because they have no vehicle to transport boulders. You would have to be in the unique position of being close enough to an area with no boulders so you could deliver or they could pickup and be a good deal for both parties. I live in Florida so very few rocks and boulders here. The homes and businesses I've seen here with boulders as part of their landscaping obviously came from out of state and must have cost a lot. Because of that, I was shocked that those boulders "only" cost $350 each! I was expecting a lot more. Probably because I expected it to include delivery, which I assume that price does NOT.
Years ago I was looking up the cost to deliver a couple big boulders. Then went outside and my neighbor was breaking up a couple of Large boulders they dug up in their yard. Within a few short minutes... Two large red sandstone Boulder's in my front yard by evening a small pond with goldfish
You should have used the tombstone method (I'm a haunt decorator...lol) soak fabric in wet concrete and cover the chicken wire. THEN do whatever top coat you want. Also use drylock to seal it. I'm definitely doing this because I need a boulder to keep people from driving on my grass at the curve in my circle driveway. Thank you!! I never thought of this!!
We'll have to try this one. We're amateur home haunters, and made a cave face & boulder a few years back with chicken wire, foam insulation & a failed monster mud concoction that's slowly deteriorating each year😂. I spray paint the gaps in the wall surface to keep up the illusion, but it's going to need to be redone one day😭. I'm always on the lookout for new ideas! Thanks!
when I was a kid I was really into model trains and dioramas.. used to make mountains, terrain, tunnels etc using basically the same idea. As an adult, Im really into my yard and ponds and have struggled trying to figure out some landscaping ideas and this just totally brought back those long forgotten tricks! Thanks for that.
Do i have a yard? No. Will i ever build boulders for a yard? Also no. But i still watched this till the end and was entertained and learned something! You sir are a Rock Star!
Hey Mr. happy ! Here’s a blast from Canada. I was a concrete truck driver for a couple of years. One day, when picking up my aggregate, (ready mix) concrete. asked Lafarge concrete supplier, how can I slow the process down of drying, so that the inside of the drum of my concrete truck would be easyto clean. He told me, bring a large bottle of (Coca-Cola) and pour it into the drum. So at the end of the day, I added a little bit of water and poured the litre of Coca-Cola into the drum. I would spin the drum for five minutes to work the Coca-Cola into the side walls of the inside of the drum. It works perfectly on slowing the process of concrete down for its drying property! PS. Be frugal when adding it to the concrete, you wish to make your rocks up for. Too much Coca-Cola, and days later it’ll still be wet ! PS - PS always remember (things go better with Coke) !!!
I have a pathological hatred for cardboard. We have been battling each other since I can remember. I have seen millions of pounds worth of machinery jammed in place by a wet piece of cardboard. I have seen caterpillar tracks thrown off their sprockets by this ‘Devil’s papier-mache’. You have given me an excuse to repay this smug brown material by smothering it in cement and forcing it to be decorative. You have my eternal gratitude Haxman the Boxman.
I AGREE with KIM! I like the GRAY colored rocks too! That Said.... Once it dried, at least on the video, it does appear to have lightened a little bit at least. But, great idea! It looks good & I love that your daughter was also helping out Dad! 👍🏼💙 God bless yall!

Idk why the TH-cam algorithm recommended this to me, but dude, I'm glad it did. Didn't even care about the rock even though that is a cool method. Your guy's vibe is just awesome
I lived near Gary Dahl when he made his millions selling Pet Rocks. Your heart breaking tale about losing your rock to accidental drowning shows the world that Gary's sense of humor is still relevant. Humorists like you keep his memory alive!
This is just plain FANTASTIC! You gained a new subscriber (lost among the hundreds of thousands I'm sure) for this video alone. I've been stalled on a concrete project, and wanting to make Light-Weight Concrete. You cinched it. Thank you over and over again! P.S. I'm sorry about the drowning of your pet rock (';')( ';').... very sad...
You have a great husband with a sense of humor who’s humble, creative, and loving. Did I mention he’s handsome as well. Blessings to you and your Family. Keep Encouraging others with your Positivity. ✨🙏❤️✨
I used to make replica stone sinks. Cast sink shape in concrete with chicken wire re-enforcing, then when dry put on your top coat. Difference with mine was I added peat into the top coat. This has the effect of encouraging moss and lichens to grow on the surfaces, also where lumps of peat washed out, it formed pits and crevasses in the surface. Sinks were then used as planters or water features.
@@user-jy3zl2vp4b I was about to ask the same thing, lol. I have so many projects I want to do especially around my inground pool, it would be awesome to meet a guy like this with all those benefits, lol

I need to build an Address Rock. Getting the granddaughters involved and putting their handprints, the dogs' paw prints, and established year on the back of the rock will make a core memory for them in later years 😊
Yeah, previous home owners did that. They put names and handprints. It was 10 yrs old. Terrible job, we tore it out, and the garden and the fencing. Lol
That is a smart idea. My granddaughter won't be born until January 2025 but this would be a great thing to make for my daughter & son-in-law for their yard.
Pretty darn nice. The address rock rocks. I have seen some faux rocks similar to yours made with heavy brown craft paper, which is the outer layer of cardboard. They wrinkle them to suit the texture they want. You can also use the crinkled paper to imprint the texture on the wet cement/mortar. Our local zoo has some freaking huge ones made in this fashion. Another idea is to use plastic automotive bumper clips for attaching the wire. They are cheap, low profile, smooth heads, and the large disc head should help secure it really well. Great job. They look fantastic.
Alternatively, you could have used some expanding spray foam on top of the boxes to flesh out the form of the rocks and then added the cement mix on top of that!
Yes. There's a senior lady who makes concrete flower pots by using various fabrics and quick mix, letting it drape over various forms while drying. They make unusual pots.
Yes! I was thinking of paper mache techniques while he did this, but some kind of textile would be perfect. Stuffing newspaper under the mesh would have worked for the first rock too. Although maybe out where he lives he doesn't get a lifetime supply of junk mail daily.
OK, this video warrants a subscription! What I love about it is not only does it look real, but it can be moved around as you so desire to. Good stuff!
I have a friend that knows how to cover that cardboard rock. She dips towels and all kinds of stuff in cement. She'll love this. And, oh yes, colors. ❤
💯👍thank you so much 💖 use card board to flatten , place on an area you want a garden put something heavy on it so it won't blow away, leave it for a couple of weeks , it will kill off the grass and roots and the worms will come up and nibble on the card board and help to loosen and fertilize the soil . After 2 or 3 weeks the soil under the card board is nice and soft , you can then turn that soil with a shovel , remove and remaining grass or weed roots and you can add 10-10-10 fertilizer to the soil as your turning it and some composted cow manure to help fertilize the soil to plant your garden . You do have to pull up any grass or weeds while they are little and easy to pull up. But easy way to make a garden spot in your back yard 💖🙏 plant your plant starts like tomatoes 🍅🐝,or seeds like bush green beans ( they grow really fast ) as soon as you see ripe green beans start picking them ( the more you pick the more you get with green beans ) . Oh and plant cantaloupe melon 🍈, they sprawl but they shade out under them so no weeds come up 🙂 just water really good soaking the soil nicely and then let it go awhile , deep down drink then wait awhile maybe 1 wk or so then water again 💖🙂 keep them happy and they should produce for you 💖🙂🍈🐝🍅🙏💯👍 Then at the end of the growing season pull up your plants that are dying back after harvest, put those plants in a compost pile and add your leaves and any grass to the compost pile leaves that uncovered for the winter and that compost will break down so you can add that back into your graden the following spring 🌼🌱 Turn up your soil after pulling up your garden plants to help discourage any weeds or grass and I think the snow fall has nitrigen in it so it helps your soil. Then the following spring turn up your garden again and add your compost back into the soil then plant your new garden 🌞🏡 Oh and add your coffee grounds to your compost pile 🙂 it will help your compost pile break down quicker 🌱🌞🍈🌼🌼🐝 And coffee grounds don't seem to draw critters , no need to add kitchen scraps the coffee grounds and grass should do the trick 💖💯🐝 Coffee grounds to your compost pile will help it break down quicker 🌱 and doesn't seem to draw critters .
Coffee is the key to compost. I go to a local gas station that I have them save all the grounds for me. They give me a 30 ish lb bag of them once a week. (Wet weight)
A few tips having done this before. One if you can try to fill in any large gaps between the boxes and the mesh. You can use bits of cardboard, craft paper, packaging material, even paper towels. The idea here is to just save some of the thickness on the first layer in building it out. Too thick and it'll start to crack and cause issues in those really thick areas. Two, I've done a paper Mache type setup and it worked extremely well. Shop towels soaked in plaster or mortar mix works really well to add a layer that you can manipulate and sculp (and its easy as hell). Three, wire brushes can sculpt partially cured material pretty well. Four, I recommend sealing the rocks with a masonry paint or sealer. Then just work on faux finishes (look at pictures of real boulders and dry to color match, also tossing sand in there is great for texture)
Love your Channel! Good clean Entertainment and very great instructional videos. Great for the whole Family. I Pray God Blesses this Channel Abundantly!
Oh my goodness those rocks are fantastic!!!! I see cliché rocks in construction rubble all the time and I have no way to pick them up and get them home. Thank you SO much for sharing!!!🎉
My first thought on the address rock, was how awesome it would be to 3D print some numbers to stamp into the rock while the mortar was wet! I'm going to be doing that soon! I'm sure numbers can be bought at the hardware store to stamp it too!
OMG 😂 thank you so much...I was laughing my assests right off... my husband came up from the basement to see with was goin on ROFLMAO😝🤐🤓 AND im gonna make a few of those holler rocks of yours big uns along the front ditch... ummm they will be dirty smeared speckled white and gray... though honestly the color was fine when got finished nestling them into place. Sir - Jimmies parents should have helped him learn to swim so as soon he got around water he wouldn't... wouldn't.... well - you know... sink like a rock... go ahead Haxman... make my day BOSS
@ it doesn’t last as long as concrete, of course. But for a short term trial it would be great. Plus you can determine what shape and size would look best before you spend a lot of time on a permanent stone. Hypertuffa is a concrete and styrofoam build instead of a wooden form.
You put the interesting side toward the inside of the bed! When setting your rock in the garden, Spin that rock around to find the best side to show! I love making concrete rocks!

I once fell out of a tree as a kid and landed with my back on a root sticking out of the ground. I made the same sound you did! Loving the rocks they look way cooler than I feared they might
Someone has probably mentioned something similar to this, but to fill the awkward voids between the boxes you can use expanding spray foam; it’ll help make it lighter and look more natural and then you could carve it to whatever shape you’d like as well and cover it with dyed concrete mortar, etc., like you did here. The reptile keeper community here on TH-cam has some great tutorials because they like to make natural looking decor or backgrounds for their enclosures so I highly recommend looking some up if you want to become a professional rock maker! Lol
Brilliant video and I haven't laughed like this in a long time hahaha! You are hilarious! Thanks for a great Sunday morning. I loved your content. First time I come across your channel and as a construction girl here that loves building things and designing in general, this was so much fun! I'll be back
I became a fan of building way to late in life. I am now a construction mom & love every minute of seeing what I made from my own hands. I like your video sir..... you create like I create. If it pops in your head build it. ❤❤❤❤
This has been fun to watch, but very informative. The other comments have also added to some more artistic ideas, for wildlife dens, or winter shelters. Keep up the good work!
Wow man, that's genius! My dad worked for the City of San Antonio and he brought home several large boulders.. including one he sat on every day and drank his beer and smoked his cigarettes on. He would have LOVED this idea! ❤
Sentimental rocks… yep, that’s me. 😂 …my dad was a science teacher. Every “pretty rock” we found was studied (“that’s another piece of quartz, kiddo”) and our favorites were kept. I even have one from college, which I collected for a creative writing assignment and kept as a pet rock afterwards. 😂 My dad had a mineral and rock collection as a teacher and just because he thought they were neat. It’s mine now.😆 Sorting through it to cut down what I’m keeping was a lot harder that I expected. Mostly because they’re “pretty rocks” like neat geodes, large pieces of mica, and various sparkly stuff. 😅🤣
@@jimmylarge1148 lol, true. It’s fascinating stuff, though “quartz” is a rather broad category, since the mix of oxygen and silicon that is quartz is a super common mineral. Sand is mostly quartz, after all. We had mostly milky quartz in the area; I loved how it stood out from the darker colors. Flint, chert, and jasper are all technically quartz, but it’s better to tell a 5yr old something is flint than another type of quartz. 😆
@@kellybraun7048 their all different tho. Different makeup, with some similarities. I’m talking quartz like a vein I would follow for gold is petrified tree sap from ancient GIANT trees. Just like that daggum Bible told us.
That's great that you have your dad's rock collection. I think we're attracted to certain rocks, maybe via a compatible energy, that's why we 'love' some rocks more than others.
Pro tip. Ditch the cardboard and use insulation or impact rated construction foam. Stack and carve for more natural looking stones. This is the method used by zoos and theme parks.
Nope. We have molds of real stones and sides of cliffs , mountains etc, and have fiberglass shredder shooters and cement shooters. Spray a layer. Roller the layer to get them to bond better. Repeat as often as needed. After drying in the sun remove the molds and paint the rocks any way from granite to sandstone. Whatever the project calls for. Sometimes we'd make unique stone carvings and make molds from them too. Trying to build rockscape from scratch for each project is too time consuming when we can make hundreds of panels and stones from molds and just configure them how we want to
That insulation board is expensive but far easier to work with than mortar mix. Can carve it with any type of blade, hot wire it, carve letters with a router, etc. I suppose the cost of the insulation board would be offset to an extent by not needing mortar and chicken wire. Still kicking around ideas and techniques for my 20' tall Easter Island moia heads, but my current thinking is foam.
If you want mortar or concrete to set faster, add Plaster of Paris (chemical formula CaSO4·1/2H2O) and if you want it to set more slowly, just add regular sugar. Much cheaper with more control this way. The more you add the faster (or slower) the setting time will be. Note that the strength decreases as the sugar content increases. Concrete mix truck drivers carry bags of sugar with them to keep the concrete from setting in emergency situations if there is a mechanical failure.
One time, my child informed me she was making a huge round teapot for bookweek out of a cardboard box and I was troubled about how a large square or rectangle corrugated cardboard box could become round. And her solution (which I felt silly for not seeing) was to soak the cardboard box in the bath of water, then it will soften and she could drape, or wrap wet cardboard around a big empty garden pot, upside down. I was amazed, and she got it all in place with thin rope pulling it in around and round. After it dried off in the sun, it had the hard cardboard shape and was removed off the garden pot. From here you could use cement, but she covered it in a few layers of craft glued fabrics and so forth for her project. Getting different ideas from other people is very much appreciated, and I am amazed that a child thought to wet the cardboard to manipulate the shape and dry it back to sturdy. And mixing all these ideas together helps to get better project products, so thanks for inspiring me, us, with new ideas. I need a few rocks for my garden, to protect my flowers out front from dogs weeing on my plants. A few big rocks could really help.
Why not just dig a hole in the ground the shape of the rock you want. Paste the mortar in and layer the wire and mortar to desired thickness. Then just pull it up out of the ground. Should have a real Earthy look to it.
Why not make your own video doing that instead of coming to a place where somebody else has done a thing and saying they should do it your way, which takes no effort and seems to lead to smugness? I realize that there are a billion comments on TH-cam that deserve this rebuke, many more so, but this arbitrary impulse is how you got here too, so I'll let it stand.
You are a brilliant genius with a great sense of humor, you give a new perspective and meaning to the expression, one man’s garbage is another man’s treasure!!!!!!!!!! To keep the land fills for getting out of control, look at what we can do with a little creativity!!!!!!!! My brother used to collect large rocks from the woods & fields where he would walk his dog & used them to landscape his yard. I'm definitely going to show him this video.

Just wondering if you put a sheet of plastic over the cardboard, maybe you could reuse the cardboard like a template or a mold. But I guess all the rocks would look similar if you did that.

As a person who has dreamt of going into the desert to grab boulders from the natural roll off from the mountains, this was simply amazing for the rock enthusiasts.
Better is to just make a fiberglass and latex mold of those stones and a fiberglass cradle over that. Then bring that home and make as many of those stones as you want to.
OMG! My husband has a rock just like that that his dad gave him. My husband is age 70 now. Just a different shape. We used it as a door stop. We've been married 51 years.

Great ideas, thankyou!

Sounds cool. I was wondering what do you do to achieve a realistic color
Amazing. Thank you. I hope you’ll make a channel of your own!
>>>>Then plaster gause wrap two layers over the chicken wire. What does "plaster gause" mean?
Probably someone already said this, but if you make a wet slurry with cement or that mix and dip some pieces of an old bedsheet or rags in it, then you can drape it over your cardboard or chicken wire, and use less mix. I had a friend who made garden statues this way.
Many set designers use this method too.
Yeah it's the same principal as Modroc bandages for mask making ..

💯% Please Be Helpful To Delivery Peeps! Moving tons of heavy parcels, in extreme weather conditions, as fast as humanly possible, is bad enough. Please don't make it harder for these essential workers!

One small suggestion that worked great for me: After setting up the chicken wire, I covered the entire set up with wet newspaper. It prevented the wet mortar mix from falling thru the chicken wire, and the moisture helped the mortar stick faster. The newspaper was a cheap way to get the job done.
Paper mache. I used newspapers for stuff too.
This is a great added suggestion, thank you!
Excellent idea.

@@whatsupdoc3385 or carve solid styrofoam then colored plaster and/or paint! I assume you paint the paper mache! How does it stand up to weather?

Great project! I have another trick for coloring the rocks. I made a ton of concrete paving stones and didn’t want them to look like concrete, so I bought a few of the concrete dye powders that are supposed to be mixed into the mix. However, I put the dyes in small loose knit cloth sacks and used them to dust the wet concrete (like putting pepper on a steak). It gave me total control over the color and mottling of the surface of each individual block. Just thought I’d pass it along. Thanks!
If you want it to blend and make it look old.....paint it with a flour and water mix, and it will grow lichen on it and look natural.
I just commented that yogurt promotes moss growth but it needs to stay out of the rain for a bit, initially.
Cheap water based deck paint, any color, takes about 6 months to powder up and grow moss as well and will give better graduation in coloring,.
😂 I've been slowly dragging boulders about this size off my yard and into the woods for the past 2 years. Maybe I need to put them up on marketplace 🤔
Yes! 😂
You gonna run over it with your snowplow! Very nicely done, Stoneman!
Probably because I expected it to include delivery, which I assume that price does NOT.
lol yeah what’s up with that. Great comment
Thanks!
or just paper machete...
when I was a kid I was really into model trains and dioramas.. used to make mountains, terrain, tunnels etc using basically the same idea. Hey Mr.

Thanks Wayne!
Crinkle aluminium would give texture, too.
First time I have watched like the humor good personality keep it up 😊
Alternatively, you could have used some expanding spray foam on top of the boxes to flesh out the form of the rocks and then added the cement mix on top of that!
Maybe with chicken wire with the foam to help it stay all together over time too

Yes. There's a senior lady who makes concrete flower pots by using various fabrics and quick mix, letting it drape over various forms while drying. They make unusual pots.
Potato sack too can work
Yes! I was thinking of paper mache techniques while he did this, but some kind of textile would be perfect. Stuffing newspaper under the mesh would have worked for the first rock too. Although maybe out where he lives he doesn't get a lifetime supply of junk mail daily.

Oh and plant cantaloupe melon 🍈, they sprawl but they shade out under them so no weeds come up 🙂 just water really good soaking the soil nicely and then let it go awhile , deep down drink then wait awhile maybe 1 wk or so then water again 💖🙂 keep them happy and they should produce for you 💖🙂🍈🐝🍅🙏💯👍
Then at the end of the growing season pull up your plants that are dying back after harvest, put those plants in a compost pile and add your leaves and any grass to the compost pile leaves that uncovered for the winter and that compost will break down so you can add that back into your graden the following spring 🌼🌱
Turn up your soil after pulling up your garden plants to help discourage any weeds or grass and I think the snow fall has nitrigen in it so it helps your soil.
Then the following spring turn up your garden again and add your compost back into the soil then plant your new garden 🌞🏡
Oh and add your coffee grounds to your compost pile 🙂 it will help your compost pile break down quicker 🌱🌞🍈🌼🌼🐝
And coffee grounds don't seem to draw critters , no need to add kitchen scraps the coffee grounds and grass should do the trick 💖💯🐝
Coffee grounds to your compost pile will help it break down quicker 🌱 and doesn't seem to draw critters .
Coffee is the key to compost. I go to a local gas station that I have them save all the grounds for me. They give me a 30 ish lb bag of them once a week. (Wet weight)
U really just wrote out a whole gardening starter guide. U should print it out and sell it. That was a lot of work 😂😂
do you think the young tree he was putting the 1st rock in front of was a Meyers lemon? it's a favorite of mine!
Then just work on faux finishes (look at pictures of real boulders and dry to color match, also tossing sand in there is great for texture)
old worn out clothing as well, plus adds different textures!

I was wondering about this. Do you know how long the hypertuffa last? I thought I’d read where it doesn’t last a long time.
@ it doesn’t last as long as concrete, of course. But for a short term trial it would be great. Plus you can determine what shape and size would look best before you spend a lot of time on a permanent stone. Hypertuffa is a concrete and styrofoam build instead of a wooden form.

Boxes, spray foam, wire, mortar
RIP Jimmy, forever in our hearts
Someone has probably mentioned something similar to this, but to fill the awkward voids between the boxes you can use expanding spray foam; it’ll help make it lighter and look more natural and then you could carve it to whatever shape you’d like as well and cover it with dyed concrete mortar, etc., like you did here. The reptile keeper community here on TH-cam has some great tutorials because they like to make natural looking decor or backgrounds for their enclosures so I highly recommend looking some up if you want to become a professional rock maker! Sentimental rocks… yep, that’s me. 😂
…my dad was a science teacher. Every “pretty rock” we found was studied (“that’s another piece of quartz, kiddo”) and our favorites were kept. I even have one from college, which I collected for a creative writing assignment and kept as a pet rock afterwards. 😂
My dad had a mineral and rock collection as a teacher and just because he thought they were neat. It’s mine now.😆 Sorting through it to cut down what I’m keeping was a lot harder that I expected. Mostly because they’re “pretty rocks” like neat geodes, large pieces of mica, and various sparkly stuff. 😅🤣
Quartz is petrified tree sap. Thought you’d wanna know.
Spray insulation?
Cardboard's better for the environment

We were her landscapers. We used boxes and chicken wire to move boulders instead. By relocating existing rocks/boulders she saved thousands
And child protective services never got called in? ☺
@lisadiane55 we were raised in a different Era. There were many times they should have been called and weren't. It's a miracle I survived my upbringing. In more ways than one.
Im at point of video where you guys ask for comments below ... I think i want it mostly grey and you add the tan highlights rather than vice versa... But hey it turned out pretty good. I actually like the finished look, goes well.
Man , even the shovel scraping against that fake rock sounded authentic
That is the stuff!
I'll probably go back and stain them with some more grey later. 😃 Thanks!
@@HAXMANgray is more realistic, unless you are going for a western, desert look. 😊
The interviews were killing me. 😂
Wow, these ideas are so creative & it turned out beautiful.
Thanks for watching! You can feed a HAXMAN child by purchasing merch at www.thehaxman.com.
Just wondering if you put a sheet of plastic over the cardboard, maybe you could reuse the cardboard like a template or a mold.
But I guess all the rocks would look similar if you did that.
What's with the Bigfoot?

Is that BF walking behind you ?
Could you make even LARGER rocks with expanding foam and morter , mortar (whatever) mix ?
@@someoneelse9059 Or you just came up with the modular cardboard box rock creation concept.
Thanks,,,,1 more reason to hate youtube,,,now I can add boulder building to my list of "late in life 'projects'",,,,,I love your enthusiasm,,,and your sense of humor
I think Bob Ross would have loved your work too :)
Happy little rocks.😊
Fantastic! No one will ever know unless someone digs the "rocks up someday. I like the color of the rocks. They look like they came from AZ. The cooler rock is such a great idea! Tools where they are handy! Your sense of humor is 👌
19:48 I have memories of Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
