Excellent reaction with detailed analysis. But in this performance, Diana doesn't give away all her secrets. :) Here, Diana is fifteen, and at sixteen, she had a major mutation. Diana's range is D3-D6, so she hills both beds, mezzo soprano and contralto.
She was 15 at this filming. She turns 18 this May 31 and will legally be able to sign contracts in Russia. She has just released a lyric video of a song from her first crowd funded album which is due to be released the end of this month. She is currently attending GITIS which from my understanding would be similar to attending Julliard's in the US

Two years later, the channel announced the super season of the competition. Diana participated in it for the second time and won the Grand Prix.

The previous year when she was 14, in competition, she was not so canny, and pulled out all the stops. It was a cover of an old folk song (that had been re-arranged in the 1990s for Alla Pugacheva) titled "Rechenka". This is the next one to go to. If you liked her version of Wicked Games then this performance should not be missed.

3-4 years on, her voice has deepened further. She still sings Rechenka but in a lower key and "just to answer those who keep questioning if its my real voice", she sings it acapella. So from a professional point of view you might instead find it interesting to analyse this version from a recent concert she gave?

She is naturally polyphonic with a dramatic contralto. She literally has the rarest voice probably on the planet. Her voice naturally manipulates overtones and undertones to make a distinctly layered voice. Its incredible and one of a kind.

She had a vocal coach since she was around 5 yo. She had voice difficulty due to an a neglectful and abusive mother. At three, she was left at a bus stop with a broaken collar bone. I think Diana has a very big difference between head and chest voice. Therefore, the mix sounds like a double voice (I don’t know if this voice was preserved after growing up). Perhaps such an unusual chest voice could be the result of childhood trauma.

I was looking through all the comments to see if anyone mentioned this rare vocal ability. Glad you did. Combined with the rare contralto I don't think there has ever been another singer with both these rare vocal aspects before, certainly not in recent history.

Liked your way of analyzing her voice.
Diana had an unusual development of her voice. Due to severe abuse from her biological mother, she was placed in an orphanage. At age 4/5 she was adopted (by Irina, who was a massagist and attended Diana) but she had problems speaking (she stuttered and talked very little, from what I understood) BUT loved to sing cartoons music and had perfect pitch in these occasions. By medical recommendation she was taken to singing lessons. And the result is as you see - a fabulous and unique young woman, with great talent and very hardworking.

Diana has something primal, mystical, but also sensitive and sensual in her voice and she lives her songs. Diana is a dramatic contralto, the rarest contralto type and deepest woman voice. Dimash is the universe, but Diana is the earth, our home... and when you hear her voice you feel like she has wrapped you in a warm velvet blanket and served you a mug of hot, dark chocolate. Every song is a unique experience, it captivates you, you feel bound by magic.
Diana was born in May 2003 in Arseniev in the Far East of Russia. She didn't have a happy start in life. The woman who gave birth to her had 12 pregnancies, only Diana survived ... and she did not love her child, abused her cruelly and tried to I drowned. Relatives found the child with a broken collarbone on the street and shortly afterwards took the 3-year-old girl to an orphanage. Finally, there she found love ... from Irina Ponik. Taking a little child into the family was not easy for Irina. Her son was already 20 years old, the daughter 17 years old ... Start all over now? Yes!!! Diana came to a poor but loving family when she was 5 years old.
Diana spoke badly, cried a lot and was still very scared but she all sing songs from cartoons. And so, the singing teacher Elena Kazantseva discovered Diana's talent. And all started ...
During 2008 to 2012 Diana sang around 40 songs, including at competitions.
Diana's mother became her daughter's manager. Everything that has to do with Diana's singing training, performances, competitions, looking for sponsors is organized and coordinated by her mother Irina Ponik. She took extra sewing courses too. Since then, she's been sewing all of Diana's stage costumes, because all of these things consume the family budget. She accompanies her daughter on trips and captures her life in photos and videos with the persistence of a visionary.
After winning a competition in Moscow, Diana's mother was offered to leave the girl in a boarding school for gifted children. She refused and in 2012 her family moved to her hometown of Toglyatti, much closer to Moscow. Diana lost her fear that the woman who gave birth to her would kidnap her.
Diana's voice, her perfect pitch and her sense of rhythm were extraordinary even as a little girl and so she impressed with her talent in over 50 national and international competitions. Her confidence grew, her voice continued to develop ... until one day she was asked to compete in more distant competitions so that other children could have a chance to win.
In 2017 she went to Moscow, at the Russian 'The Voice Kids'. Diana sang 'Yodel-Time' th-cam.com/video/vKdvaWsd91Q/w-d-xo.html but none of the judges turned around but the whole audience gave 'standing ovation'. What happened? Next day, a huge scandal broke out in social medias. People demanded for Diana's participation in the competition.
A door had closed but a new door opened:
Diana entered another competition in 2018 and 2019 and won twice. This unique international competition of 'You are Super' took place in Moscow, especially for adopted and orphaned children. The winner of the season (Diana) will be determined by a 6-day public vote and the final took place in the Kremlin Palace and her videos were uploaded to TH-cam and soon she had millions of fans.
Diana won also a scholarship to the College of Music. Igor Krutoy gifted her a small apartment in Moscow. So, she could start her vocal training with the best teachers such as Professor Olga Donskoy (She died of Covid-19 in October 2020).
The break of voice made Diana’s voice even darker and deeper. She has mastered this time very professionally and has worked hard to bring back the lost high notes and has expanded her vocal range, currently from C3 to D6. Her genres are folk-rock, folk-pop, jazz, soul, blues, soldier songs and Diana-stile… tradition meets modernity.
She loves to sing in French, but also sings in English, German, Arabic and Spanish... but only phonetically.
But she is not only a great singer and storyteller, but also a humble, intelligent and hardworking young woman. She also gives charity concerts. She loves her family and her fans. They are 'friends' to her and they are very supportive of her. Diana is grateful that they helped improve her home studio and also supported her future plans. Her Russian Friends have chosen Diana as "National Treasure" (no official title).
2020 Diana graduated from high school a year earlier, as an external student and now, she is a student at the Russian Institute of Theater Arts (similar to Juilliard). She is already composing songs and we will definitely hear her own song soon.
She will only take part in major competitions if invited. Such competitions require a lot of time, effort and strength. As a result, participants often have large educational gaps and problems later on. Diana is a smart young woman. She focuses on her studies, her voice and expanding her repertoire.

I don’t think it’s sub harmonics, it’s just a well placed and well controlled low larynx sound. Cher and Shakira do it to some extent.
Her laringe its bigger more wide and deep. Its anatomic. I see it in a video that she was in doctor revision. And plus she has a natural dark tone of voice.
