Her high notes has improved so much… They were not necessarily the strongest part of her range before and now they’re incredibly strong. But I think one thing most of us are missing is that even her lower range has strengthened and gone down. She’s really expanded her voice and sounds incredible.

Diana was born May 31st 2003 she is now 18 years old , she is Russian and sings Russian , English , French , Spanish and Arabic , She is a Really Rare True Contralto which is the lowest female voice , check out her Utube channels there are hundreds of videos there .

Diana and her arranger wanted to make it a "dark" song so one of the things they did was switch to a minor key. Love isn't always a happy or good thing. Voice type does make a difference in natural range. Most singers today do sing softer because they all use mikes and amps. Similar voices are Etta James, Cher, and Christina Aguilera, all are contraltos. She is very relaxed and sings with goo power across her whole range. She is more comfortable in her mid to lower range but is working to expand her upper range and head voice. I do agree with you in that there is no female singer with a voice like hers today. I have heard a couple from the past but only on recordings. A woman's voice isn't considered mature till she reaches her late 20s to mid 30s. At 18, I believe she is already a true polyphonic contralto, {rare}, with amazing range and control. {no cracks between lower register, full chest, and upper head voice}. I hope that as she matures, she will be able to transition into a full dramatic contralto, {very rare}. The male judge standing on the top row with the beard and tears in his eyes is Yusif Eyvazov who is married to Anna Netrebko, both very well-known and respected opera singers. What does it say about her performance if she could move him to tears? He has performed with and listened to the best female singers performing today.

Greetings from Scotland! Interesting that you compared Diana's technique to what we do naturally when we cry and we protect the voice this way. When Diana was in the orphanage as a very young child, her (now) sister Anastasia said that she cried all the time. I wonder if this was how Diana was able to master this technique from a very early age when she started to sing? Is it possible that her tragic early life was responsible for the creation of such a unique timbre? Sorry for thinking out loud but I always see the irony in situations. Diana is an extremely rare dramatic alto that is the deepest form of the female voice. You were incorrect when you said that most women have access to this low record. She sings her bass notes with Extreme control and Residency and volume that other women aren't capable of. She also has the ability to see polyphonics. when you hear some of her other songs, you'll understand what I mean.

Overall I loved your reaction, but there were missed opportunities in it: every song got a certain flow, rythm, buildup and catarsis, etc. By analysing longer at each pause you
miss the peformance, the music piece as a hole, and also we your viewers watching your video. The solution is simple: short comments and maybe a sentence or two
at pauses, then deeper analysis, rewinds, etc. afterward. This gives you a more complete picture, and makes your product the reaction video a flow a well increasing it's overall quality.
Also you didn't talked much about the emotions you felt listening to her. Like if you look a painting and only talk about the brushes and painting technique. Important part
should be what that artistic choice of a sound, music key, etc made you feel. Also few words about the staging, the environment.
For example sometimes you just have to admire an ugly sound delivering an emotional message.
Again I loved the technical part, also that you got affected by the music and didn't kept observative distance missing the purpose of listening music.

Diana Ankudinova (now 18) finally got a new chance to shine in professional environment after 3 years.
The ShowMaskGoon is a new TV show on Russian NTV channel, every saturday (8 episodes left), where best/winners of 3 music shows (The Mask, You are Super, Superstar) perform,
and vote giving 2 to 9 points to each other at every episode's end. So those sitting up there are the other singers, Diana sits with them when others perform.
They got only one 9 point, one 8 point, etc.
So they are forced to give 2 points to someone, and they wont vote for themselves.
(She got 7x 9 points, 1x 8 points this round. The guest star of this episode gave 1 point to everyone equally)(72 total)
In each round, the participants will be offered nine topics: for example, one will perform a folk song, the second - a song by a Grammy award winner, the third - a rock hit , etc. "

Это самый интересный и самый оригинальный комментарий относительно техники пения Дианы из всех, что я слышал. Похоже, эта девушка действительно разбирается в том, о чём говорит. Кое-что для меня проясняется. Но понимать, как можно сберечь свои голосовые связки, используя такую технику - это одно, а вот использовать это на практике, кажется, никто не в состоянии - кроме Дианы. Впрочем, она сделала оговорку о том, что это, скорее, природный дар, нежели результат тренировок. Стало быть, Диана будет продолжать удивлять нас своим невероятным голосом, а многим другим певцам остаётся лишь пожалеть, что им не повезло родиться с подобными способностями. Не каждому удаётся выиграть в генетическую лотерею...
I can’t believe those who miss the pain and glory of falling in love! Diana is expressing it perfectly! Don’t just listen. Feel it! And all your doubts will melt away.
If you listen to Diana's speaking voice and look at it from a Neurolinguistics or Otolaryngology perspective then you will hear that she has a resonating space other people don't. It's called High Arched Palate. Somewhat related to cleft palate in how its formed. Consider a room with a regular height ceiling versus an old cathedral with a high vaulted/domed ceiling. That's her hard palate. It's where the smokey texture comes from (it sounds breathy but the vocal folds are fully engaged). It's also where the the various harmonics come from. Whether it be the subharmonics or overtones (you'll see her shaping her mouth for a different vowel than the one she is producing in order to isolate the harmonic she wants to do the in-voice harmony with). Yes, she does the high voice placement thing Dimash does for the seamlessly easy transitions on this performance, and that was what she was showing off. She became insecure in head voice after her voice first changed. However, on the folk songs she doesn't have to do this because she's an expert at yodel technique. Part of her style is characterized by yodels and very deliberately leaning on her breaks, usually to cry off it at the ends of phrases. Slow deliberate glissandos being another thing she likes to do (and a very Slavic way of singing). She does have a very low break, and it can be heard in her speech when her affect changes. Another thing that characterizes her is the use of dissonance. Her performances of Rechenka are probably the best examples. She intentionally bends her notes into microtones like a guitarist before resolving them to create a lot of dissonance. That kind of dissonance was also present in this performance, through the change of Major to Minor, the melody changes, and how the piano's last key in the beginning set up her first phrase.
Her next performance will be a Pelageya staple. I was really hoping it would be Under The Green Willow, but it's the other one.

Diana has something primal, mystical, but also sensitive and sensual in her voice and she lives her songs. Diana is a dramatic contralto, the rarest and lowest female voice type (her range D3-D6). Also Diana's voice has a polyphonic undertone = subharmonic.
Undertone singing is a vocal technique in which the vibration mode of the vocal cords is modulated to produce sounds that are below the singing tone.
In contrast to overtone singing, these tones are not overtones, i.e. integral multiples of the fundamental, but integral divisors of the fundamental, so-called subharmonics. (Not everyone can hear that.)
With the first subharmonic, the voice sounds an octave below the singing voice. This singing technique (straw bass) only works when you are completely relaxed.
This sound sample comes from Leonardo Fuks (Dissertation). He sings up to the 5th subharmonic, thus producing a tone that has only a fifth of the frequency of the fundamental oscillation of his vocal cords.

Dimash Qudaibergen is the universe, but Diana is the earth, our home... and when you hear her voice, you feel like she has wrapped you in a warm velvet blanket and served you a mug of hot, dark chocolate. Every song is a unique experience, it captivates you, you feel bound by magic. Diana doesn't just sing, she creates worlds.
Diana was born in May 2003 in Arseniev in the Far East of Russia. She didn't have a happy start in life. The woman who gave birth to her had 12 pregnancies, only Diana survived ... and she did not love her child, abused her cruelly and tried to I drowned. Relatives found the child with a broken collarbone on the street and shortly afterwards took the 3-year-old girl to an orphanage. Finally, there she found love ... from Irina Ponik. Taking a little child into the family was not easy for Irina. Her son was already 20 years old, daughter Nastya 17 years old ... Start all over now? Yes!!! Diana came to a poor but loving family when she was 5 years old.
Diana spoke badly, cried a lot and was still very scared but she all sing songs from cartoons. And so, the singing teacher Elena Kazantseva discovered Diana's talent. And all started ...
During 2008 to 2012 Diana sang around 40 songs, including at competitions.
Her mother, Irina Ponik, turned her whole life inside out and started all over with a new motherhood and many new professions - seamstress, manager, vblogger… admirable. Everything that has to do with Diana's singing training, performances, competitions, looking for sponsors is organized and coordinated by her mother Irina Ponik. She took extra sewing courses too. Since then, she's been sewing all of Diana's stage costumes, because all of these things consume the family budget. She accompanies her daughter on trips and captures her life in photos and videos with the persistence of a visionary. It is admirable how she promotes her daughter's career, teaching her how to fly but makes sure that she is down to earth Remains.
Diana impressed with her talent in over 50 national and international competitions. Her confidence grew, her voice continued to develop ... until one day she was asked to compete in more distant competitions so that other children could have a chance to win.
So, 2012 Irina’s family moved to her hometown of Toglyatti, much closer to Moscow. Diana lost her fear that the woman who gave birth to her would kidnap her.
In 2017 Diana went to Moscow, at the Russian 'The Voice Kids'. Next day, a huge scandal broke out in social medias. People demanded for Diana's participation in the competition. A door had closed but a new door opened...
Diana entered another competition in 2018 and 2019 and won twice. This project is unique in the world, an international TV- competition: 'You are Super', especially for adopted and orphaned children.
2018 (3rd season) Diana sang 'Derniere danse' (French), 'It's a Man's Man's Man's World' (Engl.), 'The River' (Russ.), 'Tomorrow Is A Lie' (Engl.) and 2019 (super season) Diana won the Grand Prix with 'Blizzard' (Russ.), 'Wicked Game' (Engl.) and 'Human' (Engl.).
The winner of the season will be determined by a 6-day public vote and the final took place in the Kremlin Palace and her videos were uploaded to TH-cam and soon she had millions of fans.
The project producers help the finalists start studying and encourage their creativity. Diana won a scholarship to the College of Music. Igor Krutoy, here as a juror, gave her a small apartment in Moscow. So, she could start her vocal training with the best teachers such as Professor Olga Donskoy (She died of Covid-19 in Oct. 2020).
The break of voice made Diana’s voice even darker and deeper. She has mastered this time very professionally and has worked hard to bring back the lost high notes and has expanded her vocal range, currently from C3 to D6. Her genres are folk-rock, folk-pop, jazz, soul, blues, soldier songs and Diana-stile… tradition meets modernity.
She loves to sing in French, but also sings in English, German, Arabic and Spanish... but only phonetically.
But she is not only a great singer and storyteller, but also a humble, intelligent and hardworking young woman. She also gives charity concerts. She loves her family and her fans. They are 'friends' to her and they are very supportive of her. Diana is grateful that they helped improve her home studio and also supported her future plans. Her Russian Friends have chosen Diana as "National Treasure" (no official title).
2020 Diana graduated from high school a year earlier with honor, as an external student and now, she is a student at the legendary Russian State Institute of Theater and Variety Arts (Juilliard similar to GITIS). She is already composing songs and we will definitely hear her own song soon.
She will only take part in major competitions if invited. Such competitions require a lot of time, effort and strength. As a result, participants often have large educational gaps and problems later on. Diana is a smart young woman. She focuses on her studies, her voice and expanding her repertoire.

Девушка, у Вас весьма поверхностное представление о голосовых резонаторах. Помимо головного используется и грудное резонирование. Низкие ноты, у Дианы до D3 (вторая октава, у мужчин - тенор, у женщин - контральто) достигаются за счет грудного резонатора. А Ваше заявление, что любая вокалистка может спеть ноты ниже D4 вызывает недоумение.
У человека есть разговорный диапазон голоса, он не велик. А вокальный диапазон достигает нескольких октав. Вокалистка с низкой тесситурой не басит при разговоре. Попробуйте пропеть гамму второй октавы и сразу почувствуете напряжение в связках, а там и голос можно сорвать.
У Дианы редкий голос для женщины, а для девушки - уникальный, 1 на 1 000 000.

Diana is an extremely rare dramatic alto that is the deepest form of the female voice. You were incorrect when you said that most women have access to this low record. She sings her bass notes with Extreme control and Residency and volume that other women aren't capable of. She also has the ability to see polyphonics. when you hear some of her other songs, you'll understand what I mean.
In other word’s she’s different from any singer.
I'd say that there is a bit more than just low larynx when it comes to Diana. She has by default a bit of a lower voice than the average women.
Some people say that she has genetically larger larynx and I tend to agree with them after listening to her speaking naturally.

Are you saying ALL singers are fake Contraltos??? That Diana is not a natural Contralto??? Like Cher? Toni Braxton?? Floor Jansen can go into Contralto but I've only heard her down there twice that I can remember. I find your analysis of the Contralto range quite unbelievable.
My interpretation of it all, when she sings that wonderful and super emotional cover is that she's a faraway and exiled witch girl (that can manipulate others with her magical and positively cursed female voice) living in the darkest woods far from civilization and have fall in love with a human boy (a boy she stalks almost every time ,when she's at the outskirt of the woods, close by the human city in which he's unaware of that she does..)from the royal palace that she KNOWS she's never can (not only due her condition of being a witch girl, but also when she talks, then it goes unusually manly deep despised by many snub and irrational royalists and other lower rank human citizens ,where the human boy are among with constantly. It however goes very well, when singing with it, though. Her most ultimate capabilities) have in which that hurts her so almost deadly bad and that's why she's mesmerizing emotionally expressing herself with this unique cover of that wonderful song of Elvis P. a voice so dangerous and mesmerizing that it destroys almost all on her path where she is in the woods after ANOTHER unreachable love-sight of the human boy....Yeah..lol....

Sure, you bill yourself as Big Brain and your technical explanations are very informative, interesting and understandable even to the untrained. However, down in your heart you are a big old softy. Hi Diana is a extremely rare dramatic contralto. And you’re wrong most women do not have access To that low Notes. Diana concerning these notes with power and control and a special time that only she has. This is what makes her a one-of-a-kind voice.
