Trust me - you ain't seen or heard NOTHING yet Sir! :) Go take a look at her TH-cam channel - "Diana Ankudinova Official" She is now 17yo (18yo on 31st May) and she sings in 6 languages, Russian, English, French, Spanish, German and Arabic and she's only 17!!! As you view more of her performances, covers and originals, you will see this is the tip of a giant iceberg!

She is also very special as a person with a kindness and compassion so rare in teenagers these days. But these are things you will find yourself. It's a great journey ahead of you! :)

Diana Ankudinova was born on May 31, 2003 in Russia. She participated in the Russian TV project "You are super!" in 2018 with the songs "Derniere danse" (French), "It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World” (English), “The River” (Russian), “Tomorrow Is A Lie” (English) and won. In 2019, she repeated the success, won the Grand Prix on the TV show "You are super! Superseason." with the songs "Blizzard" (Russian), "Wicked Game" (English), "Human" (English).

In the TV project "You are super!" children from 8 to 18 years of age, deprived of parental care and inmates of orphanages participate. The project producers help the finalists with their studies and creative careers.
Diana has a unique voice - "contralto", the lowest female voice (F3-F5). It is very rare for girls. Diana's working range of voice is two tones lower and four tones higher than that of the contralto (D3-D6), the tenor is mezzo-soprano. Diana's rich set of techniques, emotional presentation, velvety timbre and attractive appearance make her stand out among the vocalists on the stage.
Diana continues her career as a pop singer, gives concerts in Russian cities, studies at the State Institute of Theater Arts. Diana Ankudinova has an official Internet channel on TH-cam. It contains recordings of performances from 2008 to 2021. I

It's pure talent , she can simply drop her larynx to the floor for style if she chooses .
Well, if I listen to more of her songs I might change my opinion. It's very difficult to get a complete picture of a singer from only one song. So everything I said was biased by the impression of that one performance. I'd also be interested to know how you define perfect vocal technique because talent in my opinion is only one part of the equation when it comes to vocal technique.
There is always room for improvement but Diana seems to many years ahead of most that are older than her.
Diana does have total and complete control of her vocals.
She picks and chooses what is needed to send the message of the song.

Thank you for your reaction. Diana is often compared to Cher, Shakira, Toni Braxton. But when Diana sings, you can immediately understand that it is her, you can not confuse her voice with anyone else. I hope you will continue to respond to her performances, she is amazing.

I wasn't talking about the song itself. I was referring to her phrasing and tone colour on some notes of the song where there is a strong resemble to Russian folk songs. The arrangement of the song as you said was definitely American style.

Thank you for reaction to Diana who I really love not only for her voice but for her interpretation, she possesses an unique way to convey the meaning of the lyrics. Without being an expert, for me her voice has overtone quality, hope you'll agree with me listening to Wicked game, Rechenka etc. She is working on her higher pitch, but told that she is most comfortable singing on the lower. Appreciate your insight. Diana said that Human was the easiest song for her to sing since it's the closest to her natural tessitura. She puts little to no effort getting that sound. Diana's voice will further shock you since this is just a portion of her vocal abilities. Rechenka uses various vocal techniques such as yodeling to express anguish. It's Russian Folk with a modern arrangement.

Igor Krutoy bought an apartment fir Dianne to help further her career by getting her closer to the action than from her distant home location near the Russia/China border. Diana sings in five in different languages: Russian, English, French, Spanish, and Arabic. He has been working hard on her upper register to complete the package, but DAMN!! ... I love her lower register. So unique and rich! More Diana please!!

She is waitout any doubt the biggest talent that anyone have seen in years , however ... howcome noone mentions the fact that she sings Mirror and Clearer comepletly wrong??
Well, it's not out of key. Do you mean she sings a different melody than the original? Or do you mean the vocal quality she uses and the pronunciation?
She is Russian and does not speak the english language.
She learns what the songs mean. If she likes and understands the meaning of the song,
She learns the words phonetically.
I am sure she pronounce better as she learns english, which she is now studying.
Diana is definitely special. You need to explore her story and her full music library.

In her rendition of "Wicked Game" you will see some runs in her higher range, but if you want to be mystified try her "Rechenka". Her "Dernière Danse" is also challenging the original, all from the same competition. For your information she performed a song with Krutoy on the piano as the winner of the competition, and he gave her an apartment in Moscow for her to stay as she continues her musical studies there.

Her pronunciation was perfect and her interpretation was so emotionally impactful that all my friends were almost in tears. A must reaction.
And even further back at age 10 she killed a classic Beatles cover of “ Oh Darling” that remains to this day my favorite cover of this song.
For a newer rendition check her fan Club channel where a few days ago she performed “ by your voice ( the title is in Russian but it’s the one that’s 4:06 in duration) and she performed this same song about a year ago but she has vastly improved where she can not only thrill you with her dramatic contralto voice but she has added a layer of a high head register ( not falsetto) that lets her sustain those high notes and phrases.
Also when she won her “you are super” contest she performed a song written by Lara Fabian titled “ Tomorrow Is A Lie” accompanied on the piano by the famous composer for Dimash Igor.
She sings it in English and the meaning of this song is so spiritual “ only here and now... Tomorrow is a Lie ( all that exists is the next moment).

"For a 15-year-old" is not a category that can be applied here. When it comes to vocal technique, Diana can run circles around performers, who have been on stage longer than she's been alive.

She had a really horrific and traumatic first 3.5 years of her life after which she was Orphaned and later adopted by the wonderful woman Irina Polnik who worked as a masseuse at the orphanage, She needed a vocal instructor in order to correct a speech impediment brought on by the trauma she endured, it was then discover that she was born with perfect pitch as she sang the songs from Russian TV kid's shows. It's quite the story and a lot more complex and involved than what I laid out. You should listen to her sing Oh Darling from the Beatles at 10 years old, or Me Voy, or the main sound track from Joan of Ark. She's also been robbed of titles at least twice, the Voice Russia being the most blatant and it caused a scandal in Russia. Her life is already enough for a movie. She's as unique and remarkable as her voice is.

I'm really glad that Diana is getting such acclaim as I've seen in so many youtube comments and articles etc.
When I was a teenager, so 10 years ago, I was made to feel awful about my singing voice (and speaking voice to be fair).
My choir teacher had never taught a girl with a low voice (or more likely they'd quit after the first few weeks as I nearly did) and was very obstinate about me having to sing with the altos at first even though no matter how much I practiced the switch between mix and head voice was just in a different place for me than it was for the proper altos. I could sing with the sopranos for most of their stuff but because there was just tons of sopranos and also my head voice, especially when I was younger, wasn't anywhere near as strong as my chest voice she insisted I stay with the altos.
Then she singled me out everytime the tone switch happened at a different place than everyone else but also wouldn't let me just mouth those parts and skip singing so that my head voice tone didn't suddenly pop out the texture when every other alto sung in mix at that pitch.
So after literally two years of this we finally switched from an all female choir to a mixed choir. There were three basses and maybe five tenors and the basses, understandably, just almost totally drowned out any sound the tenors could make whenever they sang any melody parts. And I was messing around with the guys just singing together before choir and she noticed when she walked in and after choir that day told me I could move to the tenors if I wanted. Because I was 13/14, other kids made me feel awful about it, as they had about everything else including the teacher making comments about me having a low voice and about me switching to head voice "too soon" ,but while I was singing I didn't care and just enjoyed it cause I could finally sing all the parts allocated without needing to go really quiet to try and hide my voice.
But then when I started music GCSE (exams you take between ages 15-16 in UK) she then banned me from singing any song from a male singer for any of my vocal pieces I had to record. So I either had to rework entire arrangements of most female artists (she couldn't mark me down for not singing it the same as the original if I'd changed the entire arrangement basically) or literally sing a handful of songs from the 80s that didn't have singing in mix at awkward pitches for me in them.
So yeah I am very glad on a personal level that a young female singer who often sings reasonably low is getting shine and I expect any teen girl searching Google or TH-cam trying to figure out if their voice is something they should be ashamed of, will, hopefully, instead of finding just "typical female voice range" and "typical speaking pitch for women" and singing/speaking into a tuner and feeling awful about themselves will instead see her name and all the wonderful comments of people who enjoy hearing her sing and feel reassured that bullies and singing teachers don't know absolutely everything about voices ha.
Haha that was a much longer comment than I intended. While from your general demeanor and other videos I'm very sure I don't have to say this I am going to: if you ever do have a young female vocal lesson client with a lower voice who is insecure of it, make sure not to make her feel any worse about it by telling her anything along the lines of "its not ladylike to sing that low" as my outside of choir singing teacher did on the first and indeed, last singing lesson I ever took outside of school. He told me that on the range check too which was so disheartening as it was at the start of the lesson and there was another half an hour that was already paid for sadly. So I just tried to argue back, realised it wouldn't change his opinion no matter what I said and just sang the song he asked me to afterwards and then never went back.
Thank you for sharing your vocal story with me. I'm sorry you had to make such a disheartening experience! Lower female voices are something very special and there is absolutely no reason to be ashamed about having such a voice. In fact it's a rare and very special gift. Lower female voices are also very popular in modern music. Just think of Dua Lipa (probably a low mezzo) and Faouzia (probably an alto). Unfortunately a lot of teachers don't know how to develop lower female voices and therefore try to turn them into higher voices which of course is destined to fail.

While there is a superficial similarity between Cher and Diana, Cher is simply not in Diana's league. Diana's tone quality and vocal technique are way beyond Cher's. Diana is polyphonic and her larynx manipulations are absolutely world class. Igor plays piano for her (Tomorrow is a Lie). Enough said.

The last musician to give me goosebumps was Jimi Hendrix at his best. Diana gives me goosebumps. To put Diana in the same sentence as Jimi might sound like blasphemy, but I put Diana's voice and Jimi's guitar in the same league. For the last 15 years, Loreena McKennitt has been my favorite female vocalist. Diana is now my favorite. And she's still just a kid (she'll be 18 this May). I can only imagine what she's going to sound like in 5-10 years after her body and voice are fully developed. I can't wait to find out! 😊

Diana has something primal, mystical, but also sensitive and sensual in her voice and she lives her songs. Diana is a dramatic contralto, the rarest contralto type and deepest woman voice. Diana was born in May 2003 in Arseniev in the Far East of Russia. She didn't have a happy start in life. The woman who gave birth to her had 12 pregnancies, only Diana survived ... and she did not love her child, abused her cruelly and tried to I drowned. Relatives found the child with a broken collarbone on the street and shortly afterwards took the 3-year-old girl to an orphanage. Finally there she found love ... from Irina Ponik. Taking a little child into the family was not easy for Irina. Her son was already 20 years old, the daughter 17 years old ... Start all over now? Yes!!! Diana came to a poor but loving family when she was 5 years old.
Diana spoke badly, cried a lot and was still very scared but she all sing songs from cartoons. And so, the singing teacher Elena Kazantseva discovered Diana's talent. And all started ...
During 2008 to 2012 Diana sang around 40 songs, including at competitions.
Diana's mother became her daughter's manager. Everything that has to do with Diana's singing training, performances, competitions, looking for sponsors is organized and coordinated by her mother Irina Ponik. She took extra sewing courses too. Since then, she's been sewing all of Diana's stage costumes, because all of these things consume the family budget. She accompanies her daughter on trips and captures her life in photos and videos with the persistence of a visionary.
After winning a competition in Moscow, Diana's mother was offered to leave the girl in a boarding school for gifted children. She refused and in 2012 her family moved to her hometown of Toglyatti, much closer to Moscow. Diana lost her fear that the woman who gave birth to her would kidnap her.
Diana's voice, her perfect pitch and her sense of rhythm were extraordinary even as a little girl and so she impressed with her talent in over 50 national and international competitions. Her confidence grew, her voice continued to develop ... until one day she was asked to compete in more distant competitions so that other children could have a chance to win.
In 2017 she went to Moscow, at the Russian 'The Voice Kids'. Next day, a huge scandal broke out in social medias. People demanded for Diana's participation in the competition.
A door had closed but a new door opened:
In 2018/19, Moscow hosted the 3rd season of a unique international competition instead of "You are Super", especially for adopted and orphaned children. The winner of the season (Diana) will be determined by a 6-day public vote and the final took place in the Kremlin Palace and her videos were uploaded to TH-cam and soon she had millions of fans.
Diana won also a scholarship to the College of Music. Igor Krutoy gifted her a small apartment in Moscow. So, she could start her vocal training with the best teachers such as Professor Olga Donskoy (She died of Covid-19 in October 2020).
The break of voice made Diana’s voice even darker and deeper. She has mastered this time very professionally and has worked hard to bring back the lost high notes and has expanded her vocal range, currently from C3 to D6. Her genres are folk-rock, folk-pop, jazz, soul, blues, soldier songs and Diana-stile… tradition meets modernity.
She loves to sing in French, but also sings in English, German, Arabic and Spanish... but only phonetically.
But she is not only a great singer and storyteller, but also a humble, intelligent and hardworking young woman. She also gives charity concerts. She loves her family and her fans. They are 'friends' to her and they are very supportive of her. Diana is grateful that they helped improve her home studio and also supported her future plans. Her Russian Friends have chosen Diana as "National Treasure" (no official title).
2020 Diana graduated from high school a year earlier, as an external student and now, she is a student at the Russian Institute of Theater Arts (similar to Juilliard). She is already composing songs and we will definitely hear her own song soon.
She will only take part in major competitions if invited. Such competitions require a lot of time, effort and strength. As a result, participants often have large educational gaps and problems later on. Diana is a smart young woman. She focuses on her studies, her voice and expanding her repertoire.

Thank you for your reaction! I'm really amazed by the fact you've noticed the touch of Russian folk songs in Diana's singing! It tells a lot about you as a professional! You're the first vocal coach who has mentioned this. I'm from Russia and when I was a student I sang in my university falk choir for a short period of time. Despite the fact I used to sing for fun and pleasure (I'm not a singer at all and my profession is teaching) l still can hear the touch of folk songs in other people's voices. And I can assume that vocal training for singing folk songs is a little bit different from what is used for opera or pop singing. And I think this ability or skill (whatever it is) stays with a person. I remember being taught how to breathe with all my belly and lower lungs. I don't sing but I still use this breathing technique unconsciously.
