I happened to use a variant of the m16 in afghanistan, and I've never heard of such bullshit there's no way in hell we'd pick up an ak. No need to. Any professional soldier capable of properly cleaning his weapon would have any need for a crude, inacurate ak. In fact, ak's were adequately out of range in afghanistan where several firefights would take place more than 300 yards away. In this environment, my 16 prevailed.

Mikhail was really a legend. Even after so many years his rifle AK 47 hasn't lost its significance even a bit. The prestige that this rifle has got, no other rifle will ever be able to do that.
Not only did he design the AK47, he designed the RPK, the Saiga, the PK, and other guns, which are all still used by almost all of the armed groups in the world, including rebel groups, paramilitaries, and special operations units, due to their cost and reliability. Compare that with the M16, which its ammo corroded in the weather of Vietnam, causing jams, while the Vietcong was literally ambushing soldiers with AK47 guns.
Strange that you don't mention that they eventually improved the M16's issues... (The fouling caused by the bullets, the lack of chrome lining, interventions happening thanks to Springfield and their M14, etc.)

However a well maintained AK and a trained soldier can accurate hit and eliminate targets at the 300-400 meter distance just like the AR-15 platform
