My daughter was born 5 weeks prematurely and is now 17 months adjusted age but she isn't walking yet. She pulls up to stand, cruises by holding onto vertical surfaces and few days ago she tried standing up with no support several times with the longest period being 20 seconds. She hasn't done it again. I am worrried as her left leg turns outwards a little bit as she walks, she has an appt tomorrow and will bring it up to her doctor.

My baby just turned 9 months and is already cruising along anterior surfaces and is standing up against vertical surfaces an attempting to cruise there as well. What step schold I take next? I know that it is normal for some kids to start walking at 10-11 months and expect mine to walk before his first birthday. He sarted crawling a few days after he turned 6 months and started pulling up to standing at the end of 8 months. A week ago he learned how to klimp a Pickler triangle. I didn't expect everything to happen so soon and I am not prepared. Which activities schould I promote now?

My little one shows signs of readiness, but lack of confidence. She can easily cruise, she can go from sit to stand (but wants to grab a toy once she stands), she'll let me support her ribcage area while she walks (which I notice she is getting stronger each day), she can easily go from crawling/sitting into a stand at the couch (without needing to pull herself up). But she has only let go of the couch to stand independently one time for 5 seconds. I'm going to introduce a push walker to see if she'll use it. Looking for other tips to get her to have the confidence to stand without holding on.

My baby's already too independent. She "doesnt need help" &: gets so frustrated w/ herself if results aren't fast enough. Yeah, that's my babes 🥴. I tried doing the let her stand on my feet while walking and holding her hand. She didn't like it. None of her devices, would rather climb up things than use them for assistance. I had to put the Roku up high bc she's also destructive & super curious. Which is cute & fine but also twrrifys me bc she's already a little daredevil. But the standing for long thing against something, yeah when she wants to watch TV from like 1 ft away. Prob contemplating how she's ever gonna reach that blinking light thing. & Shes still sweet & clingy. Way too clingy but the only time she's holding my finger is when she's killing it bc when she sleeps I have to too. It's her screaming that bugs me. I feel like I'm losing my hearing

It would be expected that a child can transition to standing independently (either through pull to stand at a surface or by standing independently from the floor or a squat to stand from a low surface/parent lap) before they start taking independent steps. It is important that children can access a position by some means before they are able to completely master that skill. Children typically master pulling to stand at a surface as their first method of attaining standing.

Hello! Thanks very much for your video. I have a question - my 13 month old gets very agitated or uninterested when I try to practice with her. I'm not sure how to keep her motivated. She will get interested in a toy but then lost interest or be distracted by something 5 seconds in. How do I hold her interest and how do I get in a good amount of practice time everyday?
As an FYI - she cruises in both directions, independently stands but for a couple of seconds and pulls herself up to stand holding the couch when she chooses to. Her doctor has said that her legs are strong and hasn't called out any concerns.
I look forward to your suggestions. In the meantime, I will work on the vertical surface tips you provided! Thanks again.

Good to hear that her legs are nice and strong! In terms of keeping her motivated, it's going to be different for every baby. If there is something that she shows sustained interest in, like a TV show or interacting with someone else in the room, you can incorporate that into your practice.

    Hola!!
My baby has been standing with support since 7-8 months, and cruises since 8.5 months, she is able to pull herself up and down but wont stand on her own. She had a femur fracture from a fall when she was 4 momths😢,
Could any of this cause any delay?
She seems a bit afraid to walk😢
She is 12 months and 14 days

    • @emergepediatrictherapy
      @emergepediatrictherapy  ปีที่แล้ว

The average age for independent walking is 12 - 18 months, so it sounds like your child is still on track to walk independently in that time frame. Femur fractures can impact future standing and walking skills or could make her more cautious with independent movement. In addition to the activities in the video, you can also try having her stand and hold a soft toy that you also hold. That might give her more confidence while still being a challenge. If you are not seeing progress in the next 1-2 months a PT evaluation might be beneficial. Hope this helps!

@@hirababar8417 no it has nothing to do with that many kids have a fear of balance so if they stand by holding onto some thing and their balance is OK try using a toy that is a walker to see if your child can move it on their own place. Your child’s hands on the bars make sure their feet are straight and see if they go start by letting them stand and walk with them 2 inches and let them try to do the rest

@@2lovingmoms yes he can use push walker and maintain his balance but he is been doing it for 6 months but not stepping for a walk seems like he is scared but I sometimes think he might got some issue with his motor neurons .he is having issue with his hands also don't use his to bring anything to eat towards his mouth .

Some kids are just bit delayed don't worry. Do leg massage and leg exercises with your child.
My twins are 26months and are NOT independently walking I'm so CONCERNED. I was told twins develope different then single child. I don't understand why and how does that work? I NEED a video on twins/multiple children growth and development video.
