    Hello, this has been a very informative. I have a question. My LO was crawling on all fours, then had a fall off of the bed and landed on the top of her head. She has been normal with the exception that she has reverted to a three point crawl. All of her other movements are the same, she is still able to pass things from hand to hand, and is otherwise coordinated in her movements. Is this cause for concern? Should I be worried? LO is 8 months and has been crawling since 6 months.

    Great video. Can I suggest that for any future material you speak more slowly perhaps? It's quite hard to keep up with that kind of a pace. I would personally love to listen to it again, but find it a bit uncomfortable as there are so many ideas in such a short space of time and my brain can't compute! Thanks so much.

    First time Dad here, my daughter is 15 months and has been cruising furniture confidently since she was around a year old. She can do it all day without any need for breaks and she can travel the entire house this way. She never crawled, she either just dragged herself on her belly or just bum shuffled. She can pull herself up quite well when holding onto things but isn't confident sitting down from a standing position. She will happily hold our hands and walk around with us and we started from holding them up high to holding them low. We had been trying one hand up high and she was very anxious and would get upset and not walk. Recently she has been better with one hand and will actually walk with encouragement and reassurance but not super confidently or happily so I guess that is visible progress. I know it is 18 months so she has a few months and I'm not super worried but my wife does get a little down about it so at home I am always super confident and reassuring with her that she will get there and tell her not to worry and enjoy the time before things change. I don't really know why I'm commenting but I have found comments on these videos by mother's quite encouraging as I see many people with the same experiences saying how their baby walked and was fine in the end so that's good to see, it helps. Recently though I think I'm a little upset about this and starting to worry although I haven't and will not project those feelings onto my wife. It's just nice to be able to come somewhere, even here where maybe nobody will even read this and be able to get it off my chest a little by writing it down. Sometimes I feel like it's my fault because I am at work for at least four days a week and sometimes more and not at home to help my wife and my daughter as much as I would like. She responds much better when we are both at home so that can be a little upsetting for me at times. I just want to be at home with my family creating memories and spending precious time.

    My little one shows signs of readiness, but lack of confidence. She can easily cruise, she can go from sit to stand (but wants to grab a toy once she stands), she'll let me support her ribcage area while she walks (which I notice she is getting stronger each day), she can easily go from crawling/sitting into a stand at the couch (without needing to pull herself up). But she has only let go of the couch to stand independently one time for 5 seconds. I'm going to introduce a push walker to see if she'll use it. Looking for other tips to get her to have the confidence to stand without holding on.

    2:30 ah, so what you're describing as "neurodivergent" is really "tends to provide information". Or, "normal". Just say that. if getting to the point constitutes "rude" to you, you're a snowflake. Grow up.

    The wokeness of this video is cringe. Your "communication partner"? Really? I'm not ND, but it looks like the "neurotypical" side is really the arrogant and solipsistic one. I've never had any issue with understanding anyone's "communication style". If you can't adapt without getting offended or other-izing people with different communication styles, you need to grow up. How have you made it this long into adulthood? Good Lord...how did "exchanging accurate information" ever become accepted as a deficiency? What a psyop.

    Love you video! I have an almost 20 month old. That has been cruising along furniture and climbing, climbing, climbing everything since he was about 13-14 momths. If we try to encourage him to walk he will just sit and crawl. He doesn’t appear to have any of the physical deficits your mentioned. And we are waiting for a paediatrics r/v. How can I encourage him not to default to sitting and crawling? He will pull himself up on me if I am standing somewhere.

    Is the tight side usually the leg they hitch?

    • @emergepediatrictherapy
      @emergepediatrictherapy 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      In a 3 point crawl, the leg that is up (foot on the ground or hitched) would be the tight side. The tightness is likely coming from either the hip or trunk. For the trunk rotation stretch, you always go towards the easier side. You will test both sides first and then go the easier way for that stretch!

    So glad to have found your channel! My 5.5 month old was tongue tied, which we had released at the hospital before coming home. I never really noticed many problems, but about at the 4 month mark I noticed she started pulling her arms behind her on tummy time and really resisted keeping them underneath or in front of her. She specifically kept her left arm out behind her when being held etc. I’ve been focusing on as much tummy time as tolerated and stretching out her arms and it has helped som. She will keep her arms out in front/underneath her much more and will sometime push up into extended arms! Yay! A friend mentioned that sometimes tongue tied babies have more tightness, and recommended I see a chiropractor and do a few stretches. I decided to hit TH-cam today after seeing the chiropractor yesterday (who confirmed some tightness through her back, shoulder, chest and even jaw) to find some exercises that might aid in helping her more. I’ve watched this video of yours, as well as the guppy stretch, and the 3 stretches to help with infant tightness. I plan to try these with her, but wanted to see if these are the best things for me to focus on or if there is another video/stretches that are more suited to our situation! Thanks for putting this info out there!

    I really tried to watch this video, but I had to stop it after one minute. The reason is because the subtitles are baked into the video. While I'm happy when videos make quality subtitles available for the people that need them, I can't focus on the subject of a video when I'm distracted by the subtitles. They overwhelm me in many ways. So, if they are baked into the video (as in, added before exporting the video from the editing software) then I can't turn them off. If I can't turn them off, then I can't watch the video. I find it somewhat funny in an ironic way, but also fairly frustrating, that a video about autistic communication styles would be inaccessible to me because I'm autistic. I sometimes think that people in academia work hard to troll people that are different. At least, that's the only reason I can think of for why the psychologists decided to make up a long word to describe people who have a fear of long words. 😅

    Do you think neurotypical people need eye contact for some of their communication purposes? If so, how can this problem be solved?

  • @Autism_Forever
    @Autism_Forever 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I develop seizures, convulsions, blindness, and paralysis from fire alarm noise. It causes me and other noise sensitive Autistic family members unbearable pain. In their current form, fire alarms are a form of disability abuse. I plan to outlaw them completely and replace them with sensory friendly ones. It is 100% illogical and counterproductive to deliver even more sensory overwhelm and panic in an already stressful situation. Emergency signals should be soothing and calming, not distressful. Same it true for emergency sirens and blinking lights. I believe that people who developed all of these were not only very illogical, but also had severe mental health problems. Maintaining eye contact is not only harmful, it makes it impossible to communicate. All processing power is being spent on eye contact, not on communication. Same is true for maintaining body poses. Standing up, looking, thinking, and communicating are all separate activities, each requiring close to 100% of processing power. Thus, for a monotropic person it is physically impossible to do them all at once. And let us not forget those who are non verbal. I was born non verbal. Zero accommodations for alternative communication. Ever seen ableist neurotypical person scolding non verbal Autistic child during Halloween "Say trick or treat or you get no candy!" Child standing there with tears in his eyes. Well I have seen. And for that year Halloween horrors came true for that neurotypical person. When I was done with her, she looked like she wanted to die. Sadly no one prescribes anti-ableism pills at the doctor's office.
