She's been pulling up, cruising, transferring between pieces of furniture, and pushing her baby walker (we put dumbbells in the front to weigh it down so she doesn't go too fast). Great video! My daughter is 10 months and is cruising now. My concern is that she almost always walks and stands on her tiptoes and not flat on her feet. Do you have any tips for this!?
Thats great she is cruising! It isn't unusual for babies to stand on their toes when they first start to stand and cruise. Just make sure the furniture she is cruising on isn't too high as this encourages babies to stand on their toes to reach it. Also make sure she isn't wearing socks or shoes.
Nice video. There are some really helpful tips. In our country most doctors do not support using walkers of any kind. Now she is 11 months and this week she made her first steps. She is very determined a tries walking most of the day. She also holds some small toy in every hand while walking. Does that help with balance or something like that?

Hello Emma , I have requirente the 0-12 months development guide several times but haven't received yet , what can i do? Thanks !! Your channel is amazingly helpful!
Hi emma. Thank you for these videos. What about walking harness? Are they safe to use? Holding baby by the ribcage is a bit difficult on the caregiver's back so i am thinking of getting one.
I was kind of interested to see what I did and didn't do, my little ones walked at 7 months (they're now 2 and 10 years old). Turns out I missed some things I could have done but to be honest I don't think they would have walked much younger (and i wouldn't have wanted them to anyway -theh need time to get strong, crawl and go through the steps!)
Hi Emma. Thanks for your video. My baby is almost 16 months. She's standing, cruising and balancing with one hand for 6 months already. She plays while standing for long periods but can't take her first step. She likes the push walker but only for a few seconds, then starts to crawl (we also don't have a lot of space in the house so this is tricky to use). I've been trying to do what you suggest but she's really not interested to walk. We haven't used any of the baby equipment you mention to be bad. Any suggestions? Thanks
My son is almost 15 months and sounds very similar to your daughter. He cruises all over the house on furniture and uses just one hand a lot, but he refuses to use the walker. He is slowly starting to practice letting both hands go to stand for a few seconds. Has your daughter started walking, if so around how many months?
@@abiodunadeoye9741 My son is now 15.5 months and has taken a few steps but is still not really walking independently. I’m just praying he will be fully walking before 18 months.
Dear Emma, just wanted to thank you for all the videos, I find them extremely helpful! It also great to get some true advice without anyone trying to sell one something, so thank you for that as well!
love your videos! this is very helpful as we have an early walker. do you have any tips or videos on teaching them to get off the couch on their own, safely?
Thanks a lot for giving wonderful and useful tips . I really appreciate you and your videos and always get enough idea about how to treat to my baby step by step. I am becoming an experienced mommy by the means of your amazing parenting tips.
@@EmmaHubbard Thanks again, I would like to ask a question here, my baby's a 9 month old ,but still has no any teeth, during my pregnancy I couldn't take calcium , can it be impact on lateness of her teeth? When we discuss it with our pediatrician, he didn't prescribe any vitamins for this case. Can you suggest us to give her some vitamins for coming out her teeth or is it a normal condition at her age? I WOULD BE REALLY GRATEFUL IF YOU GIVE SOME PROPER ADVICE. THANKS BEFOREHAND 😊
Wonderful tips Emma thank you I always love watching your videos. My son is not walking yet at 13 months ( born at 36.5 weeks ) but is cruising. I’m finding he is getting better at it but still goes on his tippy toes. I’ve noticed he doesn’t place his feet flat on the ground all the time. He seems afraid to let go and looks for me and holds his arm out for me to get him. Anything I can do to to courage him ti be more flat on his feet?
Hi Angie, wow sounds like your little one has made great progress the past few months! This is super exciting!!! It’s not uncommon for babies who are learning to walk to go on their toes and it generally settles down as they get stronger. I would recommend letting him go barefoot when cruising and have a look to see if the furniture he is cruising along is too high. If his arms are level with his shoulder you might want to lower the height by removing the couch cushions. Also if he likes you to hold his hands to walk, I would recommend you start to hold him at the rib cage instead as this will encourage him to place his feet flat on the ground.
Hi, thanks for your videos, love them! I have a very silly newbie question but, is it really necessary to do all those things? Don't kids explore by themselves and go through all those steps by themselves when they are ready to? There are so many places in the world without all the furniture and toys we have, yet babies there surely do very well too and don't develop slower, quite the contrary! I'd think that development is innate, and a baby will get bored and will seek the stimulation they need at the level they are at, always, provided they have a parent that closely interacts with and nurtures them? Thank you for your insights : )
I have always wondered about this. As a kid from the 80s in Asia, I am sure my parents neither had educational aids or tools to push and encourage us kids to stand etc. Yet we did okay and so did millions of kids before all these techniques showed up. Sometimes I feel we put too much effort these days. Well I say that now. Let’s see how things go when the baby comes.
I don’t think the video creator is suggesting all these steps are necessary. I agree that kids will learn these skills on their own in a multitude of different circumstances. The video is for parents/carers who might be looking to specifically support the development of this skill; what activities to do to try and support confident walking, and what activities to avoid.
To anyonwhose struggling with a baby who gets frustrated if you don't hold their hands to walk. (Mine all but skipped crawling altogether so it was hard not to help him when he wanted to walk). I found putting lots of furniture and boxes they can balance on around and just help them get from box to box. It weaned mine off hand holding with tears.
Oh, good! My husband and I are doing all of the do's, lol the only thing I don't have is a push toy. But I feel he'll walk when he's ready. He doesn't like walking when we hold his hands, to independent for that 😆
Hi Emma, My baby is 8 months old. He hasn’t started crawling yet but he is quite comfortable in sitting position. He sometimes shows signs like he wants to stands, like thumping his feet. Should I help him to stand if he continues to do this or I should wait and let it happen on its own.
I just looked for this video last week in your channel 😂😂 (saw some video of others channels but I was not satisfied..I needed to see what Emma suggested to be sure!)
Thank you for this. My LO is 7 motnhs and standing on pack b play and trying to go from one end to other but with push walker she keeps pulling into onto opposite direction and keeps falling down
Think I'd heard u say about the walker or read about it had voiced this yet my mil still got her one and we only got feet measured as our daughter was showing signs that she might walk soon but I was gonna wait till she actually was but again mil so eager to pay for first shoes baught them so have been used more for warmth when in shopping trolly or the pram so will use ur tips going forward
I have an 11 month old who stands to play and cruises along furniture. But whenever he goes to play on another surface he sits down and turns in that direction instead of doing it standing. He also just plops down and crawls when I try to get him to use a walker. Anything I can try to get him moving toward assisted walking?
Shoot. My little buddy loves holding my hands and walking around the house. He's 11 months now, and is not a crawler (he does this head scootch slither), but is AAAALLLLLL about walking. Any advice on how to discourage this or correct any developmental discrepancies that I may have caused? He seems to be doing fine cruising around the living room and his crib, and handles his push walker like a champ, but now I'm worried. 😱
My daughter has hypotonia and is delayed walking. Well meaning family members tell us we should get her a baby walker. I have to politely say, “no thanks, we will do what our PT recommends.”
My 10m old baby is able to cruise easily with the support of furnitures but she is scared of holding onto the baby push walker. Any step by step guide/advice on how to encourage or introduce the baby push walker?
My daughter is about to turn 1 and isn’t interested in regular crawling/standing/walking. She is pretty mobile though, pivots 360 degrees, lifts her bum, pushes herself backwards and puts great effort and creativity in reaching toys out of her reach! Is it normal? When to be concerned?! Thanks
It sounds like she is getting comfortable in crawling - pivoting in crawling, push herself backwards and reaching for toys. It would be good to start placing toys up on coffee tables and lounges and see what she does. You could also start helping her to stand at a lounge to help develop her standing balance and strength
I would like to know this too! My son is nearly 13 months old and has never crawled (butt scooter) and has only just learnt to pull himself up onto furniture two weeks ago. He loves me holding his hands so he can walk around the house! Baby pushers are not an options as he’s in the 97% for height and I cannot find a baby pusher with the handles high enough to work for him.
Holding them around the rib cage is a better option as your bub's hands are free to move and help correct their balance when walking and their feet are also flat on the ground. If they only want you to hold their hands then make sure you go slowly (so they don't lean forward when walking), try and keep their hands level with their head or shoulders and try and make sure their feet are flat on the ground.
My son is 17months, does all the walking skills except walking independently. He will cry non-stop when you want to help him walk by himself. I just don’t know what to do.
Hey Emma, Your videos are so helpful. As a first time mother and not having anyone to guide me you were like a shinning star. Thank you I wanted to ask you about playpen. What do you think about it. Are they good? My 11 month old is very active. Often he gets in things which are dangerous for him. I wamted to buy something to create a save place for him like a yes space where he can touch anything
Get those big 8panel gates that you can use as octagon playyard too but don't use it as octagon...straight to block off outside room. I put a heavy bench n jumper to hold it on outside in place They're like 60$. I set up my entire living room with it , furniture and all since it's "open living style"to create a yes place and she has entire living to have freedom... Only baby toys accessible. Then when roaming house I close rooms I don't want her in and remove things I don't want her to get into. There are videos on it which I seen way after I naturally been doing it since her rolling. I also have a camera in living room too so if I want to leave room 15mins she's okay. A reg old playpen bed thing is not good bc it's like if we're in a jail cell.
I have a question regarding more just play walking and whether or not it's okay to do. My LO is 4 months old and LOVES it when my husband hold her around her torso/chest and let's her "walk" around. She lifts her feet and acts like she's walking, obviously most of her weight is being supported by my husband. Is there any reason we shouldn't be doing this?
Thanks so much! 😊 Holding them around he ribcage is better as they can use their hands to adjust their balance and their feet will stay flat on the ground. Hope that helps!
My 14 month old cruises furniture and pushes her push toys like a pro but when it comes to walking independently she just sits down and crawls. Anytime I’ve tried to get her to hold my hands at her level she just gets jello legs and sits down. I’m not concerned just yet, I think she just doesn’t want to walk because she gets places faster crawling 😅🥴

My baby is 11mo and she can play with a toy with both hands while standing unsupported, cruise super quickly, etc I have introduced the push walker but she just doesn't seem to be interested in taking steps, she does sometimes push her small plastic chair around and walks but she seems to be stuck at this phase (3 weeks now), is there anything else we can do to encourage her to take those steps without forcing her or we just have to hang in there?
Hai my baby is in 13 th month, as she is able to stand up with support. Can i buy push walker Is she able to walk through it And is she capable of holding push walker?
My kid is 18 months and has refused to walk. Been to the pediatrician and been told nothing is wrong and it’s just a confidence matter. I’ve tried but he’s quite strong willed. He’s able to hold furniture easily but won’t let go. Not sure what to do.
So, my little one used to love holding our hands, and a cruiser to walk - then all of the sudden if we put our hands out he scoots back and fusses. So we thought he was in discomfort with standing and walking…. BUT he has no problem doing these things while holding onto furniture. He stands and pushes other stuff around greatly! So, I’m at a loss. Any ideas?
I have a 11 month old son and he hasn’t started crawling , I have been using a walker for him to play in . I saw your crawling video and he can sit unassisted and go from lying down to sitting, I’m getting so worried because he isn’t crawling or walking. He can stand up straight, but is in no position right now to walk from me to my husband. Do you have any tips on how to help .
@@urvashichoudhary4694 hi there , yes at about 13 months he started crawling, and was cruising ( walking with furniture) and doing squats 🤣 trying to stand up from a seated position, as well as teething and was crazily sick for a month and then just one day at 15 months , he just started walking. I can not tell what a rollercoaster it is to not know what to expect. I was truly just going with his flow and he finally made it. And now he is destroying everything in sight and our safety has to be improved. All i can say is it’s alright and your little one can come around as long as they are showing signs of movement then that’s a great thing because that should serve as your constant sign of hope. ❤️all the best .
My baby is only 4 and half month. But he likes to step out his foot with my support. Is it okay to do so? He roll over with small support and has good neck balance
Thats a good question, I am always holding my daughter's hands but appareny its not really good...but she does not even want to stay in the buggy anymore, she just wants to "walk" outside but she is not confident to do it alone yet, so what to do then?
It is best to let them walk on their own if they are learning to walk. If they really want you to hold both their hands to walk then I would recommend holding them at the ribcage instead. This will ensure their feet are flat on the ground and they can use their arms to correct their balance independently.
Hi @Klaudia Voneki when your walking outside with your little one you might need to hold her hand to walk, if she is insisting on walking. Just try not to do it all day.
Apparently there are mixed reviews on that exact topic- I just researched because I got worried after watching his video. Obviously, it's human nature to want to hold our baby's hands especially when they reach out and request our support. I've read some articles that say babies usually progress to wanting to go without our support eventually and it's not anything to worry about too much. Of course, if people are needing help from a professional like Emma, typically they need to consider different methods to help their baby develop more efficiently. My daughter is 9mo and wants to RUN but hasn't mastered balance yet. I can tell she's getting stronger and naturally uses our hands less and less as she grows more confident in her abilities to dash around the apartment. It's so exciting to watch!! And yet you can see she's irritated she has to rely on us still so I know she'll have no problem walking on her own when she's ready, regardless of us holding her hands now. She's very independent haha 😆
My baby can get very fussy when we try to practise with her. She gives up and either throws a tantrum or goes right to crawling. Any tips on how to continue making it interesting and enticing so she wants to practise more?
I just played with my baby and held things up that he wanted so he would have to stand up to get them. I would slowly walk away with a toy or something else he wanted and he would take a few steps trying to get it and I would cheer him on. At about 10 months, he went running after our cat trying to catch it and bam he walked. He looked so surprised like he didn't know he could do that 🤣. I figured I better not help him do things so he'll have to use his muscles and get stronger and work it out himself. It worked now he's a year and a terror running around getting into things.
What do we do if we don't have furniture? We're low income in a small place, the only things in our living room are my small desk, my hubby's large desk, and the pack and play he's currently sleeping in. In our bedroom, we have a bed but it's too high off the ground. We basically have nothing he can use :/
My baby is about to be 13 months and does not want to pull up past his knees and cries when you help prop him up to stand. I don't know if there is something medically wrong or if he just really doesn't want to walk. We had his one year check but I didn't get much feedback other than waiting. Any thoughts? Is this concerning?
@@urvashichoudhary4694 nothing ended up being medically wrong, but I didn't do anything special to help him walk in the long run. Just kept encouraging him. He did not walk until 18 months.

Turns out I missed some things I could have done but to be honest I don't think they would have walked much younger (and i wouldn't have wanted them to anyway -theh need time to get strong, crawl and go through the steps!)
I have twins so I needed walkers for them for additional help. I didn't expect them to walk so early... one started at 10 months! 🤦♀️
Wow - they would be keeping you busy!
@@JonasBrosGirl my son hasn't started working 14months

Dear Emma, just wanted to thank you for all the videos, I find them extremely helpful! It also great to get some true advice without anyone trying to sell one something, so thank you for that as well!
You're so welcome!
love your videos! this is very helpful as we have an early walker. do you have any tips or videos on teaching them to get off the couch on their own, safely?
Emma, you are awesome! I love every video of yours. I'm a grandma and everything you say is right on! Thank you. P. S. I love your accent too☺👣
Hi Emma, my baby is just over 5 months old. She enjoys being on her feet 'standing ' with support. Is this ok to do,?
thank you for this and for your time.
great video. keep it up Emma
Thanks a lot for giving wonderful and useful tips . I really appreciate you and your videos and always get enough idea about how to treat to my baby step by step. I am becoming an experienced mommy by the means of your amazing parenting tips.
That is so nice!!! It is so nice to hear these videos are helping you and your little one!
Absolutely awesome video... Really want to thank you for sharing. My kid started walking following your tips
That is awesome!
Thankyou Emma. Helpful videos.
Glad it was helpful!
@@EmmaHubbard wonderful ! Thank you so much Emma I am hoping that he gains confidence to let go on his own in the next few months. Thank you again
It’s my pleasure! Sounds like he is getting closer - make sure you get the baby push walker out for him to see and try.
i'm on the same boat my son has been walking on his toes , it's been scary for me because i fear the worst i hope over time it gets better
My baby is 13 mos too. 8/3/20 and is not walking yet
You are right
I don’t think the video creator is suggesting all these steps are necessary. I agree that kids will learn these skills on their own in a multitude of different circumstances. The video is for parents/carers who might be looking to specifically support the development of this skill; what activities to do to try and support confident walking, and what activities to avoid.
Thank you so much for this, it’s very enlightening and refreshing to watch❤️
Do you recommend the baby harness walker?
To anyonwhose struggling with a baby who gets frustrated if you don't hold their hands to walk. (Mine all but skipped crawling altogether so it was hard not to help him when he wanted to walk). I found putting lots of furniture and boxes they can balance on around and just help them get from box to box. It weaned mine off hand holding with tears.
Oh, good! My husband and I are doing all of the do's, lol the only thing I don't have is a push toy. But I feel he'll walk when he's ready. He doesn't like walking when we hold his hands, to independent for that 😆
😂
Hi Emma,
My baby is 8 months old. He hasn’t started crawling yet but he is quite comfortable in sitting position. He sometimes shows signs like he wants to stands, like thumping his feet. Should I help him to stand if he continues to do this or I should wait and let it happen on its own.
Encourage him to stand..my boy used to do that and he is already taking steps at 9months.
Thank you so much!
You're welcome!
You're always right on time for me.
So glad. Hope this helps
I just looked for this video last week in your channel 😂😂 (saw some video of others channels but I was not satisfied..I needed to see what Emma suggested to be sure!)
Yay! Thank you!
Thank you Emma...It help me a lot...Super useful content

Another wonderful and informative video! Thank you so much Emma this is exactly what I was looking for - do I use a walker trolley (yes!).
You're so welcome!
Can you pls put the link in the comments for the recommended baby walker?
But they really help to give parents a break especially when there are other issues in play and baby just always wants to walk
Very helpful thank you
Perfect timing.. Thank you emma you guidr perfectly

My 10m old baby is able to cruise easily with the support of furnitures but she is scared of holding onto the baby push walker. Any step by step guide/advice on how to encourage or introduce the baby push walker?
Thank you❤
No worries
Would you consider doing a video on baby bathtubs and seats? Talk about an important choice, especially when they start pulling up.
Thank you for every video you make, please do videos on solid food for different stages
Thanks fantastic
Thank you very much
No worries
My baby is not very interested in the push walker. How do I get her to use it? Thanks!
Thanks for this video!! Just what I was looking for😻
If you can’t hold their hands when walking, then where should you hold? My baby loves to hold my hands and walk around the house.
@@EmmaHubbard Thank you! 😊
@@EmmaHubbard Can you please make a video demonstrating what you mean. All I do is hold my baby’s hands…
@@EmmaHubbard oh wie super, endlich ein Video darüber. Ich kann die deutschen Untertitel leider nicht aktivieren😭😓

Did u ever figure out what to do? Im going through the same thing
Hey Emma,
Your videos are so helpful. As a first time mother and not having anyone to guide me you were like a shinning star. Thank you
I wanted to ask you about playpen.
Thanks for the information!!
The video is so helpful.. Thanks
Thank you for this video Emma :) great inputs as always
Glad you enjoyed it!
Your every video is so informative! Thank you Emma!
Thank you so much!
Very helpful. Thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi Emma! Love your videos! What about holding the baby from underneath their arms? Is that okay?
Thanks so much! 😊
Holding them around he ribcage is better as they can use their hands to adjust their balance and their feet will stay flat on the ground.
Mine does the exact same thing lol
Now you baby walking or not???
Dear Emma ,my two children learnt walking automatically around 14 months ,but the third baby born in lock down he is 2 years 4 months but not walking yet ,his all activities are late like holding neck around 7 months ,turn around 1 year ,sit in tripod position around 1yr.3 month, crawling after 1year 5 months ,,till now he is crawling with knees ,doctor has suggested in genetic test reports as neurological development delay and suggested strech exercises and speech therapy too.,He understand all the things ,eat by himself ,snatch things from his siblings every thing ,,I have bought him metal push toy walker ,making him push that holding on his rib,,but he don't stand stand on his own his back n leg seems week, iam worried please suggest something my dear Emma ,I watch ur videos daily
Can i buy push walker
Is she able to walk through it
And is she capable of holding push walker?
When is the right time to start? Can I teach him to walk before the baby crawlswith four?

My kid is 18 months and has refused to walk. Been to the pediatrician and been told nothing is wrong and it’s just a confidence matter. I’ve tried but he’s quite strong willed. He’s able to hold furniture easily but won’t let go. Not sure what to do.
Same with my baby .. pls dear have u're child started walking
Hi did you see any progress in crawling and walking? By which month
What do you think about baby reins?
My baby is only 4 and half month. But he likes to step out his foot with my support. Is it okay to do so? He roll over with small support and has good neck balance
Really appreciate your work

Thank you so much 😀
Thank you so much Emma for guiding us the perfect techniques 👍🏻😊

So cute baby... 😍😍
So should we not hold their hands at all while they are starting to walk? Just let them do it on their own?! Thanks
What r the developmental delays that occur by using a baby walker?...
Hi Emma - tried so many times to get the milestone chart but have never got it after filing in the details. Pls help.
I like your video
What do we do if we don't have furniture? We're low income in a small place, the only things in our living room are my small desk, my hubby's large desk, and the pack and play he's currently sleeping in. In our bedroom, we have a bed but it's too high off the ground. We basically have nothing he can use :/
My baby is about to be 13 months and does not want to pull up past his knees and cries when you help prop him up to stand. I don't know if there is something medically wrong or if he just really doesn't want to walk. We had his one year check but I didn't get much feedback other than waiting. Any thoughts? Is this concerning?
