As a Romanian i never understood the drunk Irish stereotype ... Until the 27th of December 2021 when a drunk Irishman broke in our parliament

The drinking culture, in Ireland has changed dramatically the last 40 years. Most people think people in Eastern Europe are heavy drinkers so you don’t want to use broad strokes. Remember, Ireland was colonized for 800 years and had some issues.

A few things: The Irish, Scottish, and Manx are Gaels. Tte Welsh, Cornish, and Bretons in France are Britons. These groups are mutually exclusive but are both part of the larger Celtic family.
Also, not good for agriculture? About two-thirds of the land is farmland, and it's well-known for its rich, fertilie soil, producing enough food to feed about 40 million people from a population of 5 million.

The U.S. game show The Amazing Race has been on for 34 Seasons, & yet they have traveled to Ireland only once for Season 12 back in 2007.

Yeeeah... Craic (pronounced like crack) is basically "a good time" or just "fun", or...several other similar things. Like, another way for them to say "How's it going?" is "What's the craic?" Or, if they're describing someone that's fun to be with or something that's fun to do, they'd say something like, "Ah, he's good craic," or "That was good craic! I wanna do it again sometime!"

I'm quite proud of my heritage, because unlike most people in the US, I can count my Irish heritage as being way more than 1/4 or 1/2. I'd say it's more like a good 90%. 😁 Or...80? 85? I dunno, it's just a lot more than most people who claim to be Irish in America.
On my dad's side, it's full Irish all the way. His father was a straight-off-the-boat Irishman, and his mother was first generation, as *her* parents were straight-off-the-boat. Then on my mom's side, her dad is almost totally Irish, though with a smattering of Scots and Welsh who were originally Irish, but moved to Scotland and Wales and married into those bloodlines to confuse things a bit, and then moved to America.
The only relative that really breaks the Irish cycle is my maternal grandmother who's...German. Like, really German. Her dad (my great-grandfather) could barely speak English and only spoke German around the house.

@Scribbles The stereotype we have about Americans is that you so often give detailed descriptions of your Irish heritage without anyone asking. It's not so much about what exact percentage of your genome comes from them. That's a very American perspective. The main thing to remember is to always call yourself Irish-American rather than Irish.
Despite this exclusive attitude of ours, you are undoubtedly entitled to an Irish passport and thus full citizenship. It will always provide you with easy access to the rest of the EU and to the UK. Even if you don't actually want it, it's worth registering in case your grandchildren do.

I understood everything he said haha a pretty universal opinion the world has of Americans is they think America is the world, it also includes English, when someone speaks English in an Accent from anywhere other that the US then subtitles are needed, although sometimes they do this to their own US English speakers.
