    Awesome vid! Subbed. In fact, it was an insta-sub! I really like your style, vibe and presentation. I'm a (young) early 50s. Grew up on Lakes, Rivers and the Bay. And my Grandpa worked for Johnson for 40 years. Brough the Family down here form NY, where they got off the boat from Scotland around 1920. But yeah - always had boats, motors, and although we liked other motors as well - we always had multiple Johnson O/Bs laying around. I love Bow-Riders too, and I/Os. Mercruisers are my fave. But we always had Bass Boats. He got a free boat & motor set-up every 2 years, as part of his package. Good times, and I learned so much in those years. I really love this vid -and I can't wait to see more. You've got some real talent, and a nice touch around a boat and motor. Love that!

    Have you ever tried an air hammer to remove flywheels. When applied vertically to top of shaft mower flywheels will "POP" right off. I've been amazed at how well it works. I cut the end off one of the chisels that came with my Harbor Freight air hammer to better mate with the shaft. Worked great on my boat steering wheel too. After tensioning the puller a quick application of the air hammer to the puller bolt will break the flywheel loose.

    Piece of advice, you should just stick with flipping motors bcuz the risk is far lower. I’m sure you’ve been burnt with transoms/floors in the past. Not worth the man hours.

    Hey man, question. I've been thinking about getting into fixing up boats for a side husstle like this. I'm an A&P mechanic, but I don't have any experience on boat engines. Can you tell me a good source of information, or manuals to look into for learning about engines on boats? Thanks!!

    • @BoatBusters
      @BoatBusters  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Twistedstar0320 absolutely man. Definitely pick up a copy of “CDI Practical Outboard Ignition troubleshooting guide: 7th edition” this has everything you need to know about diagnosing engines with no spark or electrical issues. Has factory resistance and voltage specs for all parts on basically every engine you’ll ever work on. Worth its weight in gold! Other than that these things are basically like working on a big weed eater or a lawn mower. Basic 2 stroke engines. Fuel spark air and compression. 95% of issues are solved with a carburetor clean and rebuild. An A&P mechanic shouldn’t have many issues I’m sure! But if you do get stuck, I’m always available on instagram you can shoot me a DM (same username) and I’ll gladly help you out. And final note- don’t run a boat motor outside of water!! Fill a tank or get hose muffs always 🤝

    Good stuff, Bro. What inline spark plug tester and compression tester do you recommend?

    • @BoatBusters
      @BoatBusters  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you! And my recommendation would be as nice of one as you can afford… my compression gauge was $19 on Amazon and I haven’t had any issues! It may be reading a lower PSI than what it actually is but my main concern with compression is that the cylinders are even, and my cheap Amazon gauge does just that. Also for a spark plug tester I recommend the SINGARO Inline Spark Plug Tester on Amazon - it’s $6 (Dirt cheap) and never failed me! I like being able to see the spark through the light on it.

There is a screw on the side of each carb that you can adjust to raise and lower the idle RPMs - often times if the idle is set to low the engine will cut out between gears
