Those ignition coils were fine.. Not new... But operational.. The debris stuck to them was just that... A good cleaning and they were good to go...

Perhaps you could cover the forward, neutral, reverse dance that goes with pulling the lower unit as well as the reinstall. Would also love to see a lower unit pressure test and reseal as well. Just subscribed. Took TH-cam’s algorithm a while to get you up on my suggested list. I do a lot of searching and learning of your kind of content. Very surprised I have not come across you yet but I am glad I did. Excellent job/video. Just remember nothing is to basic. If it is basic to you it is probably advanced to most. You can do separate videos that focus on different systems and maybe the differences between brands. You may already have all those vids. 🤩 I will be going back through all your videos. Thank you. Most of those old motors i use to work on wasnt that bad for being dirty other than 2 cycle oil and bugs they are easy to fix

With the coils looking melted l, why didn't you pop off the thermostat to check for clogged cooling causing overheating and melting.

That compression is pretty low, i wouldn't buy anything under 90psi. Depending on the engine you could see anywhere between 90-150psi.

question for everyone. Where are the parts being purchased from? 25 dollars for a carb kit? Please share where because everywhere I'm looking, outboard engine repair parts are ridiculously expensive. Please help and provide the website to where you can buy replacement parts cheap. Ebay? Amazon? A marine website that isn't trying to take a kidney? Thanks and keep up the great content. That's a tiny sheer pin! So basically a 80lbs Thrust trolling motor would be just as good as that 3.5 horse motor? I'm gonna go with the 12 horse it's a wopping 60 pounds and I'm gonna put the 7.5 horse power sticker on the cover. 3 mph not worth 180$ go big or stay off the water! Like all those fools that run super big pontoon boats with 9.9 engines on them it's ridiculous!

Maybe this motor uses something like a centrifugal clutch to engage the prop? Been looking at these cheap motors wondering if one could be of use on my boat. Might need something a bit bigger though.

Come to Minnesota - Land of 10,000 lakes and 500,000 boats. Lots of boats mean lots of boat engines. It also means a saturated market. Boats and engines are CHEAP… but they also resale cheap. Like you said KNOW YOUR MARKET. Great video, lots of good information for someone looking at getting a starter boat. Those 9.9 Johnson Evenrude engines run FOREVER. That will last someone for years to come.

Found your channel today and have already watched most of your videos, and subscribed also. Great content, keep it up. Looking at the console I noticed about a 1" hole on the back side toward the bottom (if you were sitting behind the console the hole would be by your right foot). This got me to thinking it may be possible to put either PVC or chrome bow railing on the bottom left and right, and after you cut down the console drill holes to fit the pipe/railing. Install the pipe/railing on the boat on the left and right (run the pipe through the console first) and that way you can solidly mount the console to the boat, but still be able to slide it fore and aft along the rails, but it wouldn't fall out of the boat again.

I tried a puller on a flywheel and had no success but a prybar with not much pressure then a mallet on top of the flywheel made quick work of it.

Probably been said already but when you're fixing a crack like that one in the cowling, drill a hole at the inside end of the crack so it doesn't continue to grow after you've made the repairs. This was a great video. Thanks for sharing your skills knowledge and experience. I appreciate you sir. Yeah please do show me how to clean the water jackets.

Wow you really do a great job overhauling that outboard. Impeller, thermostat, ignition coils, fuel pump, clean carb and your going through the trouble of cleaning water jacket. A true overhaul. I would buy one of your outboards gladly. Your doing the customer right my brother. Glory to the Lord Jesus!

i must say, im pretty jealous! any bolt you touch on an outboard down here is going to wring off from it being seized.
