Vielleicht ne schwachsinnige Frage aber könnte das auch mit einem 4 Layer Board laufen? Bin neu was das ganze Thema betrifft und konnte bisher nichts finden (Deinen Discord auch nicht)...
Awesome! I would love to build one as my first Wii Project. Is there anyway of telling from the outside of the Wii as to identify that it is the 6 layer version?
You can tell it by removing the RTC battery at the bottom: bitbuilt.net/forums/index.php?threads/revision-identification-guide.863/ We are also collecting serial numbers & try to match them to revisions here: bitbuilt.net/forums/index.php?threads/identifying-a-wiis-revision-based-off-of-serial-numbers.716/
I just found this Wii Micro / Noldendo Miicro and I want to make one, I've got a faulty Wii with a broken eject button so that can make a great project ^^ Just a question, why did you cut off the Wii AC Adapter ? I thinking that can make the mod easier for or I'm totaly wrong (I'm a totally newby about Wii hardmodding ^^')
Way easier since you don't need: A Screen, Batteries, batterie management, custom heatsing, custom buttons & controller, custom audio amp, speakers/headphone-jack, ... etc. But you still need pretty good soldering skills & understanding about what you are doing. So it's a perfect first project on your portable journey.
i'm not quite sure but i think a little about 1A should be enough for the Wii. I think my PSUs are 2A which is very fine. IIRC the modifed Wii, with custom PSU draws about 7W
i have bought the rvl-psu a while back because i wanted to build a micro after watching your video and checking out jeff's build. could i use that instead of the 4 regulators or do i still need the 4 regulators with the psu?
@@NolDSx thank you for the reply. one more thing. im very hesitant on continuing my project mainly because of the trim part. can you give some tips for trimming and sanding. sanding part im kind of scared of aswell
@@Noldtronics yea but I don’t have a 3D printer so I want to know the measurements, I’ll try the slicer tho. Thanks. This is so I can order it online and just get another wii and get every thing else
I was wondering if you could assist me, on my wii biuld all I'm removing is the disk drive is there any software I would need other than homebrew Chanel and USB loader. I saw some people saying you still need to disk drive board to play games, is there a simple way around that?
Yes. You can find plenty of USB-C power supplies that have enough watts and 12v output. I found hardware on Amazon that sends a signal over the connection to request 12v specifically.
@@omarguerrero6417well of course you wouldn't be using actual discs bc there's no space to put a disc drive in this, USB is a much more convenient way to do it
Is this safe to do with a Japanese Wii and power supply? Would the potential voltage difference cause any issues? (Sorry if this is a noob question, I am new to this kind of modding)
USB-C PD can do 12v, but you need the supporting microcontroller to handle the "hand shake" that tells a USB-C PD power supply "Hey, I want 12v". But, it'd only be for power, and USB-C PD capable power supplies are way more expensive than a common 12v supply, and you don't wanna accidentally explode an expensive power supply on such a minor job. So, technically you CAN but it's not worth it.
It may be my first Micro project for one of the wii's :D
Great video! I might just have to give this one a try
Finally some love for 6 layer Wiis

I’m gonna build it!

you should make one that's the exact same, but it's like an inch taller with a disk drive
That would be impossible because it would need to be made as wide as the original wii
Do you think you can make a how to video I want to make one but step by step videos of micro Wii's are completely impossible to find

I think it's because you now have to run the power to the custom regulators since you've cut off the originals.
Where do you wire the sync button?

Wii portables: Hello there
as always really nice work, but i am way to scared to try it on my own ;)
Don’t be! Wii’s are cheaper than when they first came out, and it’s not that dangerous!

Can I use the GameCube ports from the Wii U adapter to build this?
i don't think so. but why would you want to anyways?

Looks more like a gamecuboid that a Wii micro.
Can you just cut it or do I need to be aware of some things that might break the wii?
ofc things can break, you're cutting apart the mainboard PCB
