  • My new and improved Wii mainboard trimming guide.
    Based on Bitbuilt's guide:
    bitbuilt.net/forums/index.php...
    This video took me a while but it was necessary for newer projects.
    Now that I've made new, trimmed board, I can finally make some new cool stuff using wii's components.
    Voltage regulator resistor values can be found here:

    This is great to see a full trim guide finally on youtube but one thing I recommend is to relocate or at least remove u10 (or u9) before trimming so you don't accidentally damage it.

      Yeah. That’s pretty good idea. I don’t know why I didn’t relocate it before cutting.

  • @Morklympious

    Hey again! I finally pulled the trigger on trying this and while I originally meant to keep my usb ports, some panicking after I trimmed made me cut them so I was trying to rewire a usb breakout board to the CM1 or CM2.
    I've tried using 34 AWG Magnet wire and 36 AWG stranded wire for this and neither seems to be great, can I ask what gauge wire you used at 16:47? I and I'm assuming you didn't need to twist those wires because you already had a usb female cable that had that D+ / D- twisting built in for you?
    This might be one of the most difficult resolders I've tried and I may not be able to continue past this point, but at least if I try again I want to have as much info as possible. Thanks!

    • @ManolloMancelli
      @ManolloMancelli  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi!
      I’ve used a “Kynar wire” I don’t really know what gauge it is. I know for sure that it’s bigger than magnetic wire.
      Hope that you’ve made the software changes before the trimming. Otherwise it won’t work

    • @Morklympious
      @Morklympious ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ManolloMancelli For sure! I ended up soldering straight to the traces instead of the CM1/CM2 with 34 AWG magnet wire, and it seems to work so far. I appreciate the reply though!!

    What would be the way to reduce load times? As in, how would you store the games any way but usb?? Would using a larger sd and having the games play from there be faster?? Thanks for the video!

    • @ManolloMancelli
      @ManolloMancelli  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      SD card could be faster but it would require additional wiring as you’d have to wire back the SD card slot. I don’t think it’s really worth it. USB load times are not so bad.
