I just bought this car a month ago after test driving 30 other cars. The Civic Si is in almost every way superior to anything in this price range. The acceleration is silky smooth and performs like a rocket ship. So far my biggest challenge has been keeping the car under 90 mph on the highway. The fun-factor is extremely high. Seats are comfortable, transmission and clutch are amazing, electronics and dashboard layout are super-modern. Owning this car is one of the best decisions I ever made.
Awesome jobs guys. You are the best on TH-cam by far. I can't wait to see what is your review on VW Golf! Please do it soon enough before I end up buying another Civic SI. Thanks!
I agree, I used to own a 06SI and people used to dog on me that the car was ugly and slow. Now with the new one people dog on it also. I always like new cars it's always getting better. I remember back then in 1999 when the EM1 came out people doged on it too. People have a hard time adopting new products. The usual time frame of accepting new products is 5years. I now own a 2013 civic LX and loving it. Way quieter and smoother than 8th gen. 5 more years and people will love the 2013.
the 9th generation can be modified. They have flashpro from hondata so it can be tuned. There are exhaust's, intakes, and full race already has a turbo kit for it.
You guys should really do the 2013 Civic Si Sedan. Night and day the refinement they put the 2013 through. Suspension and handling are much tighter even with the obvious body roll issue. Personally i think the sedan out drives the coupe as well as looks better.
i bought a brand new 2013 civic coupe si HFP this week, only thing is at 100km/h it's reaching 3000 rpm, it needs a higher ratio 6th gear to do long trips...
@tuolumne9 - First, we are NOT trying to be hard hitting. Secondly, we don't make promotional videos. Yes, I am smitten with lots of cars. Finally, read my bio below the description of the video or just do a name search for me and my presentation style will make a lot more sense - Dave
Dave/Alex- just letting you know this review oddly ended at 3:25. I went back to main site, (saw 9:25) came back and then it spooled the whole 9:25. In case anyone else complains, it's happened once here.
Thanks for the reply. My concern will be that Acura TSX in Canada is 37,000 CAD$ to start with and Civic Si costs approximately 28,000 CAD$. Why would I go for Acura then when I can have fully loaded Accord Touring V6 with Nav for 37 K? I know Accura is more Luxury Brand of Honda but honestly in comparison to fully loaded Accord Touring I think Accura TSX does not stand a chance. What you say?
Hey guys, I was looking to buy a Chrysler 300c as my first car, and I was wondering if you guys could do a FULL review on it. It would be great if you could, thank you!
This can come with navigation right? I went to a dealership and they were acting like they are almost positive it doesn't come with nav. I feel they were just trying to sell off the lot instead of make me happy, because I went online and it said otherwise..
Any idea how the Honda Coupe Si 2014 will be like? I am seriously thinking of getting one, as of now its only 2013 models are available, but I don't mind waiting a couple of months if the 2014 is worth waiting for.
I used to have a 2000 Si. Frankly, it was better looking than this. I sat in a new one at the car show and was turned off by the "video game" double-decker dash, which I don't think I'd get used to. It does feel very tight in terms of build, and I'm sure it is far better performance-wise than my old 2000 Si, but it also feels very closed in when you're sitting in it, unlike the very open feeling with my old one, which had terrific outward visibility. But I'm sure my son would love it. ☺
Hey Guys!! First of all thanks for uploading great review videos. I drive a Honda Accord Coupe EXL and I have always been a fan of Honda. I always had a question that why does Honda not offer Automatic Transmission in Civic Si. Most of us in North America are used to Automatic shift and I am sure lots of buyers who are big fan of Si but dont want to buy because of manual shift.
The front looks similar, but grill looks better and front bumper has mor character. The 8th gen looks plain compared. Should give it a look in 5years. It usually takes that long for people toexcept it. It took people long to like the 8th gen. Think back and realize it.When the 8th gen came out I bught one right away. When the body changed I waited and bought the 2013. Love the new look. The ride has improved the road noise. Its quit as hell, On the highway noise is like 8th gen on street.
@ :51 . . . LOL! Way to take one for the team, Alex! Tron??? Really? Hmmm. I love the large speedo readout . . . almost an HUD. And yes, a LOT of trunk space. Two boys' lacrosse gear fits back there using the 60/40 split on our EX-L non-SI model. And Alex hit the nail on the head: upgradable! It begs for mods. Good job!
Ummm I don't know where you got that 0-60 speed but my 2012 si gets to 60 in 6.4 with me driving it... so I'm guessing my 9th gen is faster than your 8th gen stock.... and only some of the 9th gens consumed oil, mine does but very little of what should be normal and I've been keeping a watch on it. And you can mod the 9th gen....
Great review, guys! This is one fun car; I test drove one recently and it was a blast in the handling dept. And the engine/trans combo is as smooth as it gets. I might go for the sedan - it looks better IMO.
Its a great car, just drove one last week, its a blast, sounds great to. and you can find one well under 25k, who needs Nav when we all have smartphones
to me it seems like they are more positive and not overly critical on dumb details. Like The Fast Lame Car channel, saying a car is as heavy as a truck. When it actually wasn't. Its funny when TopGear does it, not them.
On second thought, I think ive watched this before, so disregard my shoelace comment. As for the SI, it is sleek, it is DEFINITELY a younger audience that its intended for, but not something I'd drive. One of the top reasons: single exhaust tip. Im all about dual exhaust!!!!
the review is pretty bare bone basic, said nothing bad about the car, everything is perfect perfect... I own this car, and it's great, but it's not perfect like how this video suggests. It needs 30-50 more HP for sure, also 6th gear is too short, I have to drive at 4000+ RPM on the highway in 6th gear to stay with traffic flow !
just bought one of these and i am with you on the 6th gear. going 70+ mph you're over 3.000 rpms as for the HP, it is a tuner. So on that premise I will also be adding at least over 100+ HP in the next 2 years or so.
I honestly like that it revs a little higher in 6th. fuel economy still isn't bad, and it never has to downshift for hills while cruising on the highway.
The 2007 S2000 blows a lot of cars out of the water and rightfully so, it cost $34,000 new. You are not comparing a high end race car like the s2000 to the budget minded sport compact SI.
it's funny how the 8th gen owners still throw dirt on this car, when it's clearly better looking, better interior, better performance, better everything. I'm sorry but keep you're 8th gen since you can't afford one and stay the hell in the past.
But why would you want a car that is turning 4,000 rpms at 70 mph? That's just stupid. No wonder people are buying the Scion Tc instead. Plus, the Si requires premium fuel. Go for the Scion Tc instead, its just better.
Doctor TurdInHand, next to the Mazda MX5, the Scion Tc is the most widely raced car in the world. Fragile bottom end? You must be huffing bath-salts through your crack-pipe again!
George McKean anyone that actually "races" a scion tc is an absolute idiot. Tc is over weight and under powered with a shity manual. now the frs or a brz is much more comparable to the Si. the Tc is completely outclassed.
George McKean how did I miss this hilarious comment. Go read about people who have tried to turn the tc into a time attack car, they all end in failure. Sports compact sunk thousands and thousands of dollars into supercharging a tc and redoing the suspension inside and out from coils to end links to control arms. The end result? They lost to a stock rsx-s, a car with its own chassis issues btw. Go to any track day and tell me how many TCs you see lol
Hey Dave I wouldn't worry about this guy's comment. To me the "hard hitting" reviews he is referring to are generic and really safer reviews to do. I'll give you of an example I think he would like "hey this is jimmy from Jimmy's car reviews.com. I mean I can't really call anything Honda a true performance car. I guess if you are on a budget etc. etc. On the track the *EXPENSIVE CAR* will definitely run circles around it. Now time to review this Ferrari and give it high marks for being expensive
I found some news about the 2014 civic si coupe and made a video of it on my channel check it out! I would definitely wait for it it looks way more aggressive and sporty!
They Should Fix The Front Now That the Back Looks Good The Front Keeps Me From Byuin This Car idk why ilike the 6speed sedan better dan the coupe, and a a coupe guy
This car fuckin sucks...hated driving it. The shifter is feels like a atari joystick with the most retardely short gear channel. You have to redline the thing on the highway to keep it at 70mph and the clutch is touchy as shit.
ImperialLegionTV I respect your opinion but the 6 speed that is in this car and the other k20 si's is one of the most buttery smooth and best shifting gear boxes ever made. and I find it quite easy to keep my car at or above 70mph on the highway and have beaten a lot of much more expensive cars. but to each is own.

The Si feels fast because of it's torque-y gearbox and it's fairly low curb weight.
You guys made me really appreciate this car.
Awesome jobs guys. You are the best on TH-cam by far. I can't wait to see what is your review on VW Golf! Please do it soon enough before I end up buying another Civic SI. Thanks!
Detailed , and very easy to understand. Awesome review EMD !

I've been very curious about this car. Thanks for the review!
Another great review guys...any chance you'll review the Focus st ?
I hope you guys make the review on the sedan. Great review!! I'm living the new si's and deciding to buy the sedan
Was very excited for a civic review :) thanks a bunch!
Cost will go up since automatic cost more to make. They automatic version is the Acura tsx. Both of them use the k24 engine.
the 9th generation can be modified. They have flashpro from hondata so it can be tuned. There are exhaust's, intakes, and full race already has a turbo kit for it.
The Si coupe is also a great car for retirees, like me. Just bought mine this week!
So 2 years later how has it been man. Thinking about buying one as my first car, do you reccomend it as a first car?
how's the ride? i'm an old man and i've had enough of bumpy riding cars in my life.
I hope you tied that shoe prior to driving, Alex.
Good review again. Keep em coming! !

i have the 08 si and its an excellent daily driver, even in california traffic.

Heyyyyy, this has probably been asked before but what happened to the EverymanDriver score? Why the change in rating system?

depends on what you want. I live in a large city so a large sedan like the accord is not ideal for me.
Great review and editing guys, keep up the good work! When are you reviewing the new Forester btw? :)
Excellent review thanks!

When r you guys testing the new Mazda 6?
what happened to Alex? He's never in the new vids
wow great channel , awesome sound on the motor
Jack Suchodolski Thanks for checking us out - Dave
hey! Tron Legacy was just as amazing as the original! haha. great review guys. id love to drive this car
Nice car, but competitions are tough for this car. Too much money for the performance when mazdaspeed3 and Focus ST are around.
You should open the full sunroof

I have one and I´m in love with it! It`s just a fantastic car!
Also same engine as the Acura TSX sedan and sport wagon.
VTEC kicked in yo
he probably says that since it's a FWD car and not RWD. a FWD can't take corners as well as a RWD so that may be why it's loose and 'squirrely'.
Lol there's a superman at 2:17
Up, up and away :-) Dave
love the styling
Honda realized that they goofed up with the 2012 models so that's why they re-did them again for 2013 and the 2013's are getting great reviews
what'd they goof up in 2012?
Nice superman toy on the bumper lol
I think a Mini cooper S is a better car for that demographic. More efficient, quicker, and handles better. A bit more expensive though.
It's not quicker. I used to own a 09
Sedan all the way better backside. Had the 06 it was sick just picked up the blk 13 sedan
I still want a black 07 si sedan lol.
i would love to drive this at least 100 miles a day for my daily commute..so my 2013 mustang stays in the garage
How its not much bigger inside, and its worlds slower, my grandma has a civic sedan, what does that say.
the review is pretty bare bone basic, said nothing bad about the car, everything is perfect perfect... I own this car, and it's great, but it's not perfect like how this video suggests. Why does my boys civic si coupe have nicer and different tail lights are you sure this is 2013
Why does this guy sound like a driver's ed instructor
The Catastrophic under steer is dangerous
No way never will I buy a front wheel drive car
finally a good civic
it's funny how the 8th gen owners still throw dirt on this car, when it's clearly better looking, better interior, better performance, better everything. I'm sorry but keep you're 8th gen since you can't afford one and stay the hell in the past.
nice intro
shoes untied
I have a mulsanne and it is nice
2nd time now that I've seen that shoe of yours untied, Alex. Be careful bro.
Prelude Si over this anyday :) .

Doctor Ferdinand, you must not know much about automobiles!
Doctor TurdInHand, next to the Mazda MX5, the Scion Tc is the most widely raced car in the world. Fragile bottom end? You must be huffing bath-salts through your crack-pipe again!

Dude your shoe's untied...!
Si is a nice car but flawed in many ways. 2007 Honda S2000 blows this car out of the water.
I can't even pretend to like it... Good video though.
I love this car
I dig the Si, but give a
no one cares about your 8th. I prefer a car that makes less noise, doesn't drink gas and has more speed and acceleration. I prefer the 9th!
This car fuckin sucks...hated driving it. The shifter is feels like a atari joystick with the most retardely short gear channel. You have to redline the thing on the highway to keep it at 70mph and the clutch is touchy as shit.

Nice
Duh, on the video itself. Nevermind.....
I'm kidding
