    The whole minimum velocity thing is pretty misleading. The minimum velocity of 1300fps is in relation to a lighter 1 1/8oz #7/#8 shot load. A heavier load (such as buckshot or slugs) are going to give you a lower velocity, but more energy to cycle the action.
    Velocity is only one component in what makes semi auto shotguns cycle reliably. Shot weight and dram equivalency also matter.

      Depends on the spread you are looking for. I haven't test spread pattern yet with different chokes to know which works best for what. One choke specifically states that slugs can't be shot through, but honestly if you aren't concerned on your spread pattern you can stick with one choke.

    • @Korey406
      @Korey406  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Depends on which Typhoon. My local Scheels got a bunch of those in. There is a fairly basic typhoon with a non adjustable stock and a plastic forend. Having only held it and not shot it, I'd say feels a lot cheaper and maybe more fragile than the Boss 25, and also cost a bit more then what I paid for the Boss 25. Then they got some models with a adjustable stock, and pretty much entirely aluminum framed. Feels soo much better and can be made smaller over all with the adjustable stock, but the price on that was almost twice what the Boss 25 is.

    Back in the 60s my hunting buddy was shooting a Remington 1100. He convinced me I needed one. I had been shooting my grandad's old Ithica double 12.ga. when I showed up to hunt with Ed he told me I would have fewer failures to cycle if he enlarged the gas port same as he did to his. Since I had never seen him have problems I agreed. Mostly we were shooting low brass, mild hand loaded shells using somewhere less than an ounce of 71/2 or 8 shot. You could shoot it all day with less noise and enough power to cycle the modified 1100s. Most days we hot the limit fairly easy and the 1100s just worked. I still have mine and my son has an 1100 skeet 20 ga. I bought him at age 6 months. He finally grew into it and still shoots it. The point is of course that many shotguns need to break in and may need the gas port opened a little bit. I HAVE DONE IT TO OTHER MAKES some times and helped it cycle better with low brass factory shells.

    Last thursday The cheap estate catridge 2 3/4" 1250 fps 7shot , shot better then the 3" 1550 heavy steel shells. 2 and 4 shot
    I shot 75 shells of the heavy steel and had 4 jams, I shot 40-50 of the cheap estate catridge 1250fps and had no jams.
    Im not sure on how it performed on grouping/scatter, because most of the time I was just shooting into the berm so as not to destroy the target mount/stands.
    But reliability cheap was better, also since it was 2 3/4 and lighter load, my shoulder thanked me for switching to the cheap shells.

    • @Korey406
      @Korey406  ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually haven’t pulled this gun out the safe in awhile, but the mags were pretty tight starting out but fed nicely and wore in a bit after shooting a bit. One thing I’ve noticed about the mags and the gun in general, dirt/sand will instantly kill the reliability. Dropped one mag and then went to use it, the light amount of dirt caused feeding issues that also got into the chamber and needed to be cleaned up again before it works right again.

      I have this same shot gun in FDE color scheme. Had it for about 6-7 months but just shot it for the first time yesterday at the range. I shot 20 rounds of Federal 00 buckshot 1325FPS and 20 rounds of Federal low recoil rifled slug 1300FPS. Had zero malfunctions and problems. Hope this helps.

    Does it kick harder than the vr80

      Nah. It's the heaviest gun I own, mass eats up the recoil. I have 3 12-gauge machines, this one has the lowest kick by far.
      Caveat emptor! It is a seriously heavy weapon. Over 8lbs. loaded.

      You'll love it. Don't know about yours, but mine was dripping with oil when I got it, so it came well lubed up. May contribute to why it ran so well with the lower velocity stuff right out the box. I'm going to get some even lower velocity rounds and see how low this gun will run. But yea, zero complaints...except the flip up sights... Will most likely pull those off and but a red dot with some better backup sights

      I have this gun and I bought the 20 round Pro Mag drum. It only had a FTF twice. I’m thinking it’s because it’s brand new. I’m thinking once the drum mag gets broken in more I’ll have less to zero issues.
