The thing I love about Suzuki is it’s simple, all the electronics and aids you get on other bikes you either don’t need them and most people don’t use them, it’s just more things to go wrong.
Yes, one of the reasons I chose the Suzuki. Although the streetfighter having the wheelie control where it uses an IMU to regulate power and hold the front wheel a foot off the ground sounds awesome!
My Africa Twin had plenty of electronics. None of it "went wrong" and many were un-intrusive and helpful. Especially near the end of a long, exhausting ride.
I've had this bike for 3 years. It is hands down thee best bike i've ever owned and i've owned a lot. I like it better than the Gixxer, to be honest. Simply because I've gotten older and prefer the more comfortable riding position, yet still looks like a Sport bike, more than a touring bike. This bike is absolutely amazing. It does everything you want it to do with ease. It is so easy to ride for a 1k liter bike with minimal input for even beginner riders. It is probably the only liter bike i would suggest to a good responsible beginner rider. LOVE THIS BIKE! Excellent review of her sir! Be safe out there!
This is exactly why I'm planning to buy one in the next year. My last bike was a CBR 1000RR and even tho that is one of the more comfortable liter super sports, it's still a super sport and my back just couldn't take it anymore. After only 30 min, i would start to feel it in my back which never used to happen so am really happy Suzuki repurposed a tried and true motor into a sport tourer that still looks like a sport bike.

The reason for only 1 light on is safety at night. Oncoming vehicles perceive it as a car coming from far away and may make a turn right in front of you hitting you.
Excellent TMF review, as always. I own a 2019 version and it's been fantastic. I have the same screen, and can confirm it is definitely the touring screen. The bike has a sight-screen and not a dipstick. All reviews I've seen refer to lack of luggage options. In fact, I managed to get a Givi rack and top box fitted by my dealer. Transforms the bike into a brilliant solo tourer and is used daily for my 22000 miles p. a. commute. An absolute belter of a bike.
I'd say the complaint about luggage options mostly had to do with getting hard bags for the sides. One can get racks and kits for it (most notably Ventura?), but there's just not a lot and what's there requires a 20-years-in-the-past amount of bracketry. Others, notably Kawasaki, have (finally!) been designing subframes for luggage rather than relying on aftermarket engineering. A dealer can get and install anything a customer can. It would be nice for Suzuki to offer options (on other bikes than Stroms) from the factory.
Just sold my l6 gsxs1000f a week ago. I Rode it for 5.500km. Terrific bike. Affordable and reliable, stable on the curves with max 260km/h speed. My only complain is bike does not offer comfort for passenger.
I have a 2018 version I have owned for a couple of years now. A couple if FYI's... There are multiple soft tank bags available utiizing hooks underneath the rear pillion. I have found when touring, I can added both of them plus a rear back on top and have quite a bit of capacity. The next item is the front windscreen. The one in the video is a touring version but in US spec the standard is lower and very much appears to look like a sport bike's. As far as the headlights, I think he was incredibly charitable on the headlights. One word, they STINK! I have upgraded mine to Sylvania's Ultra's and they are tollerable. Lastly and I think this needs to be touched on more, this bike is fast and handles well. Not a perfect track weapon but one that gets you 90% of the way there but also is good on the street. Also, the suspension is a fully adjuster KYB wth inverted forks.
But will it be able to provide some fun 2-3 times per year on the track? I don’t wanna keep my Cbr600rr just for that but need something more comfortable for every day usage. Thanks
I believe one reason for the single dipped headlight is that at night, oncoming traffic only see one light, and is therefore easier to conclude that you are a motorcycle, whereas two dipped headlights could look like a car that is far away, rather than the reality that it is a bike that is relatively close, the oncoming traffic may in this scenario be tempted to make a right turn when it is not safe to do so.
A single white light gives no indication of position or speed, which is why I prefer having the orange signal lights on all the time to give that reference, as on many Hondas. This one has two additional white running lights which is better than nothing. I modified my FZ6 to have both headlights on for low beams to make it look symmetrical and give more light.
Hi there . I have a 2020 Suzuki gsxs1000 with a ventura topbox and saddle bags . I am 65 years old and my wife is 60 years old rides pillion 100 % of the time . She loves riding on the back : ) . Great 👍 bike
My dad had one of these. Having ridden it I must concur it’s a great bike, especially if you like smooth four cylinder machines. Keep up the great work Andy!
There is plenty of aftermarket options for touring bags. SW Motech make soft panniers to fit this bike, complete with mounting hardware and easily removed brackets. I currently use a Nelson Rigg bag on the rear and it works a treat. The traction controls on this bike come with 4 settings...3 is rain/wet, 2 is Street, 1 is Track and there is OFF (ride it as you dare). Andy...there is a sight glass to check the oil level.
I have watched EVERY video on this bike. Religiously obsessing over it for a year now. This is supposed to be my bday present to myself in late May. The Katana almost steered me away but I cannot get enough of this bike. It's perfect!
Great review! I have a 2023 gsx s1000 and it’s by far the best bike I’ve ever owned. Had Ducati, 2 hayabusa and a Vstrom dl 1000 and this gsx is so much fun to ride! Suzuki nailed it with the gsx line.
I know it gets criticised for the lack of luggage options but I don't really see it as a sports tourer, more of a comfortable sports bike for those who want the performance but dont want to put up with the back and wrists aches. And what a bargain! Nice in depth review TMF 👍🏼
Excellent in-depth review! Totally agree with your comments about the headlights. Looking forward to seeing a major update for this motorcycle in the near future.
@@mickangel3945 It might be. My FZ6 used two H4 bulbs which have both high and low filaments each, but only the low of one connected and the high of the other. It was just a matter of getting the low filament bulb connector on the high beam to have both running low beam. However, BE SURE to use a relay that disables it when the high beam is on as you aren't supposed to run both filaments at the same time for more than a moment. The light pattern looked exactly as it should. Double-check but I believe this bike also uses the same bulb for both high and low, so it could well be the same idea.
Gotta love the close captions added to these vids. TMF's customary greeting becomes 'Hey Kids, Piston Fly here......'. Keep up the good work Piston Fly
A great bike all round for the price. Made a luggage frame for mine and it is a great machine for touring. A powerbronze touring screen, hand guards and heated grips makes it an all year round bike. Thanks for the review TheMissendenFlyer.
Not interested in the bike (particularly) but I am interested in your content. The lamb chops sandwich reference made me chuckle. I view the GSXF as the 1000cc workhorse of its class, it’s good in many ways especially price but not aiming to compete with best in class bikes. My first bike was a GSX-R600 so I always hold the GSX models in fond regard.
I really like this bike having watched another great review from TMF, only doubt I had was luggage lacking but owners in the comments have put my mind at rest so this really is a bike I'm interested in now!
For me at 6'1 the standard screen leaves you with clean air around the head, very comfortable and looks good. You'll need a barn door to keep it all off and then the turbulence would probably start. Great video 👍
The BEST review (by far) for this bike on TH-cam. I really like the simplicity of Suzuki. Thank you for the imputing so much effort for this video. Very informative ! I can totally relate to the symmetry OCD comment 😂 ! Great bike !
I bought the naked version a couple of years ago and absolutely love it. Completely agree with all the points you raised, it is a fantastic bike. I've also heard the reports of fuelling issues & hard seat but never experienced either, even when riding all day on it. I did test the faired version and the wind protection is significantly better on that, as you'd expect. As you say, an awful lot of honest bike for the money. Another great review. Thanks TMF
that headlight thing bugs the hell out of me too. the new Triumphs 900 street and speed triples have that too. not sure if it is some sort of regulation or what. but it is almost a deal breaker for me
Interesting review, the bike looks great when clean and the colour scheme is understated but nice... think Triumph need to steal Suzuki’s paint department!
@@splodge57 I was talking more generally, the blue on that GSXS1000F is gorgeous and a really deep colour. The VStrom1000 has that imitation Marlboro scheme. Then there’s the yellows and silvers... I could go on but hopefully you get my point. (I should have made my point better)
I really like the whole GSXS range, I owned a 750cc and loved it and I would have loved to of had the 1000cc, but what put me off was the lack of a quick shifter, and the general lack of optional extras and as you've said, the lack of rider modes.
Great review TMF and glad to hear that you found the fuelling not to be the issue that’s been reported elsewhere on this bike. Potential Sunday morning scratcher (in the naked form) for me at a reasonable price. Now to watch your Trident review to add to the mix.....
Very fair review of a great all round bike imo. I guess it's old school now but fine by me. Not overly fussed with the latest & greatest TFT & electronics etc & cost/value for money are significant factors for the vast majority including me. Glad you liked it. Also really looking forward to your new Hayabusa review as & when.
Given pillion capacity is errr... challenging you'd likely be touring on your own therefore a tailpack would be perfect for touring. I've toured extensively solo on a Gixxer 1000 and managed fine with a tailpack and tank bag.
Generally seen as the bridesmaid to the Kawasaki Z1000sx but for me it is one heck of a bike for less than £10k......Meanwhile methinks your bike-washing OCD has reared its head....the big Suzuki is looking suspiciously clean......
@@aethelwulfwarlord1475 the Kawasaki sx dynos at around 126 rear wheel bhp (140) at the crank) the Suzuki has 147 at the rear wheel and every comparison test I've read with the two bikes head to head agrees the Suzuki has more power and better handling

Great bike, but I chose the z1000sx as it has panniers and mine came with a few additions like Sat nav heated grips. I Always use to bang on about twins and triples but have fallen for these smooth inline 4 engines. Thanks Andy for another great review.
I have recently bought one of these. I love it and your review is spot on. It also looks really good "in the flesh" and with the standard screen. I have the white version and it has received lots of admiring looks and comments from the neighbours. The blue wheel rims are particularly cool . Great fun to ride and has everything that you need and nothing that you don't need. As you have said, absolutely brilliant value too! Great review.
Another super review and really good to hear some information on fuel economy. With fuel prices so high it’s nice to hear what a bikes mpg is. Bikes may have super horsepower or amazing acceleration but these can have a huge impact mpg. Keep that info coming on all reviews.
Andy, we're here now trying to trans-project your comments over to the new GT. Also, we in the USA heat belt always wonder if a bike throws off tons of heat in traffic. Like the big Tiger... so you can always mention that if you sense it.
Oy... I know I am up too late when TMF posts a video before I go to bed. Looks very promising, but best if I go to bed now. It will be more enjoyable. Hope you had a good weekend,
Great review, thank you Sir! As to the luggage, Givi/Kappa offer full size topbox options, and semi-rigid mid-sized saddlebags. Still less than a Ninja 1000SX out of the factory, but a very respectable aftermarket option. The passenger grab handle issue does remain though. Thank you once again, very insightful! I appreciate you!
I watched the entire review, I too have a GSX-S1000F in white ('18 model). I agree with everything you said. One correction, the bike does indeed have a sight glass window for the oil level, it's rather hidden below the clutch housing (you can see a small glimpse of it at 21:46 in the video).
Great review. I owned the naked version for a couple of years and did everything on it. I toured and tracked it I even did the practical part for my ACU license on it. The electronics work too and I love the fact that it wasn’t dripping in electric gizmos as it always makes me think if they go wrong it could be costly. My current bike 2013 Speed triple r only has ABS 😄. Keep the real world reviews going 👌🏼
Suzuki usually equals good engine and gearbox and comfortable riding positions but older design and hard seats. Older tech is a plus for me too. The dash is the exact same as the SV which is another low tech but big fun, cheap bike. There was a headlight hack for the old yamaha fazer to get both lights on at once, so I'd be surprised if there wasn't one for the suzuki. Excellent, unbiased reviews as always Andy.
Great review i have the phantom black naked version lovely bike now decatted and remapped to 160 at the wheel insane performance, the engine is really held back in stock form. Ps its not a dip stick thats the oil filler cap and sight glass below the engine case 👍🏼
Lack of a center stand is a huge negative to me - it makes lubing the chain while traveling so much harder. A Scottoiler system is the likely solution.
SW-Motech Blaze bags are a nice option for luggage. About 20l/bag capacity and includes dry bags. Definitely not a 2-up tourer but works well as a light/simple sport touring machine. Interesting to see the oil sight glass has been replaced with a bolt - my 2018 has a sight glass vs dipstick.
Generally speaking, I ride my bikes on full beam during the day, which would give twin headlight bikes that 'even' look. I do it so that I can be seen more easily, and during daylight it doesn't blind oncoming traffic. The only downside to this is that it means it's a bit too much of a faff using the passing light switch, but I hardly ever use that anyway: it's easy enough to just beckon someone through, or wave a thanks.
@@splodge57 Maybe, but not yet. Never, even, had a warning for it. I feel more visible and, therefore, safer. Never been flashed and have seen countless police cars passing the other way and, not once, been flashed, or warned, by them either. If riding at dusk, I switch to dipped beam, so I don't really see the problem. It might be against the law: I'll ask my mate, he's an ex traffic cop. But if it is, it only goes to prove a point ' Sometimes the law's an ass!!
You make great videos buddy. I love watching all of them. This one has been particularly helpful as I'm hoping to buy one of these in the summer. Thank you very much for all you do. Much appreciated!
The big plus for me on this bike is the fairing. I could have used one like this when I used to ride around London and outside on a naked bike all-year around. There are so few bikes with fairings and with the U.K. weather, it must make a big difference to your riding comfort. i want to try one.
Right proper review. I’ve been considering this as my next bike, but the non-faired version. Now I’m considering the F as I really enjoyed your review of it. Like you, I don’t like a lot of electronics on my bike, and like you, I’m 5’8”. I’d love to see you do a kit review. Cheers and thanks.
Sometimes when reviewers refer to the screen it takes awhile to work out if they mean the info screen or the windshield. So windshield is a better term for wind protector and screen is a better better for the odometer imho.
Context is everything, when he says the screen provides good wind protection, I'm fairly certain he isn't talking about the latest TFT, and when he remarks about the layout of information presented on the screen, I'm fairly certain he's not talking about the touring windscreen.
My 2017 Multi is similar in the lighting. The low beam lights are the Day Time Running lights, with a finger trigger for high beam, but no separate switch.
Yep. That was the review I was looking for! In the hunt to replace my brilliant '17 SV it was becoming mainly an Adventure bike list of the Africa Twin, V Strom 1050 and I also quite like the BMW F800XR or the baby F750GS, but having had a bit of a thing for the GSXF I'm now definitely pushing it up the order. Another great real world review dude 😎👍
I have the Suzuki and would actually prefer an analog tach. Especially when in the upper RPM range, hard to read the bar graph. Mainly because that is highly illegal speed territory so a quick glance is all that one can afford under those circumstances.
@@tomdickharryjane Even i am a fan of analog tach in bikes but its becoming rare these days and only few modern bikes have it such as Streep Triple R and few retro bikes.
There are plenty of non Suzuki luggage options that work well, givi do a great after market touring screen and the 147 bhp is rear wheel nothing comes close in the bang for buck department it does everything i need (your right in that it's a single person tourer although I took a pillion to the south of France and back after one of our numbers Kawasaki had a break down)
I had a test ride of one of these when they first came out, buttery smooth, comfortable and probably would last forever. I considered one but ultimately went for a KTM 990 SMT instead, because I'm a child and love noisy vtwins haha.
Bought my 19 plate last year with just 9 pre reg miles for just over 8k. Traded my KTM1290 SAS as I'd lost confidence with the KTMs electronics and the warning messages on the TFT screen that need dealers to clear, and the keyless ignition has a habit of not recognising the bike. The Suzuki gsx-s1000f has a real world 150bhp, I like the fact that it only has three stage traction control which can be turned off. I ride solo and the bike is perfect for one. I have the SW Motech Blaze panniers, the Suzuki tank bag, touring screen and heated grips. It was perfect on the NC500 last October. I budgeted for the fact that the bike has fairly basic suspension and I upgraded mine with Maxton Engineering. I have a replacement shock and new fork internals, so for less than 10k I have a bike that can tour, back lane scratching and the odd track day. So much bike for the money. 👍🏼 The Mindful Motorcyclist
Thanks again Andy. Really glad you did this review having just bought one. Looking forward to summer and the lift of lockdown lol. Look forward to some more great reviews on other bikes or rides out you have planned come when we can. Ride safe, cheers Dale
This bike was not designed as a tourer,. It is a comfortable, capable, amazing sounding and fast liter sport bike. For me the gearing negates any touring capability in that 6th gear is neither a tall ratio nor an over-drive, same ratios as the GSXR, it screams at 4600rpm at 65 mph. I bought a phantom model, and love it.
I own an EURO 3 version of that beast for 23.000 km (14.291 miles) in two years. Oil level is checked via viewing glass below the filling port, which was presented here as dip stick. I agree with most thnings said in the video, except for the fueling and the brakes. Be advised that Suzuki changed the body of the accelartor in the handle bar in 2019 and smoothed fueling. EURO 3 versions are known for a jumpy on/off throttle response and sometimes for slight stuttering at constant speed. The brakes are ok in pure performance but unfortunatly not of the two finger variety, and brake pad change didn`t help to solve the problem. The rear suspension could be more comfortable. An update in lighting and electronics (IMU) and a quick shifter would be nice. But speaking of electronics: TC level 1 isn`t intrusive at all and saves you only before you crash, TC level 2 is fine in the wet. And I never used level 3. The rest of the bike is fine. Neutral chassis, lovley gearbox, detuned super bike engine with a very nice four cylinder sound with a comfortably seating position, where you are responsible to handle 140 + hp and not the electronics. And she was designed that way. Old school some say, but I love it. The stock tires (mine was running on Dunlop D 214) were crap. I have made good experince with Dunlop Roadsmart 3 and Conti Road Attack 3. I don`t get your fuel consumptions, mine is running with 60 mpg, and for 40 mpg I have to do Autobahn, 130 m/h upwards. Somebody seems to enjoy the super bike in this sports tourer ;). Luggage options are plenty, SW Motech Blaze saddlebags for example. Not the easiest to load with their small flap at the top, but light, and if not on the bike the saddle bag holder can be removed for a clean optic. The spark plug change every 12.000 km is a bit annoying, but otherwise it is a Suzuki in the best way: Check fuel and tire pressure and of you go. No trouble at all.
Something that noticed during the night riding was that there was additional peripheral lighting to the left of the bike that was not present to the right side when on normal lighting with the High Beams off.
I had a GSX400F many years ago, liked it but it didn't have much power, maybe it needed a rebuild or something. B4 had a GS400 twin that I much preferred, it had a bit more go in her. I have the same lights on my fazer, was told it was done at the factory but there is a upgrade for twin lights that I am looking into. It's nice that your video reviews are so comprehensive. cheers
If your going touring then buy the GSXF 1250 ( newer bandit basically) that's suzuki's proper tourer. Under seat storage review is a great bit to do in a video but may i suggest you use a disc lock for the size comparison as that's all that would generally go in there for most riders.
Hi Andy I’ve had 2 of these as my first one got stolen after 8months. Both bikes have an oil sight glass by the way Brilliant video though I’ve used mine on track days and touring and, agree strapped luggage down on the back and scratched the cowl on the back, Cheers
wonderful review. coming from a yamaha fjr1300, i have been thinking more sporty than touring so this zuk and the kawi z1k are on the list. thanks for the effort and the sharing. thumbs up.
Cracking review mate! I’ve had one of these in the Phantom colour scheme for 3 years. You’ve definitely got a touring screen on there so the delivery guy isn’t that in the know. The standard fairing seems to push the rain strait into my visor although I am a 6ft plus bloke. I’m coming to the end of my pcp deal and looking at the Kawasaki Ninja 1000 SX but it’s far less bad ass than the GSXS (especially in the matt black colour scheme). I absolutely love the sound of the engine on this bike. It’s genuinely awesome! It’s also faster than the 1000SX and has about 10bhp more. Genuinely considering sticking with the GSXS, albeit a newer one but they’ve just released an updated naked version so I guess that the updated faired version isn’t too far away. If that is the case, and it’s still value for money, then I’m sticking with the GSXS as it’s such a fun and raucous blast! Having said that. I’d be interested in your opinion on the both as motorbikes, not as a confit sports bike v a sports tourer as Suzuki never intended this to be a tourer.
I'm with you on this Andy as I think it looks great. It could be a real contender against the Ninja 1000sx but without adequate Pillion and Pannier capabilites it can't really be compared, which is a real shame. If it had a QS/Blipper, lean sensitive electronics and cruise control then I'd seriously think about spending my hard earned pennies on one. It's now £10.8k on Suzuki's website so very close in price to the Ninja. Hopefully Suzuki will update this model in future.
Re the headlight switch, I have the same type on my 2016 V Strom 1000 and it is very annoying. My winter gloves have that strip of plastic on the left index finger as a sort of visor squeegy and I'm forever catching the switch with it and putting main beam on....sorry to all dazzled oncoming vehicles
This bike will probably last forever if well treated. I like Suzuki since I had a V-Strom 650. An almost real sports tourer. Weather protection, but no luggage capacity. Easy to use, nothing is complicated. On my Honda also one light is on. You can buy a little universal kit to change that. Goretex is quite expensive. Sympatex also works fine and is cheaper. I do 18,5-19 km per liter of fuel with my 1000cc bike.; depends on the average speed. I would buy the new V-strom 1000. Modern electronics, lasts forever, luggage capacity, excellent weather protection and a more upright seating position.
Loved the review, especially the answer to the most important question in assessing a bike: how much space is under the back bit and is there enough room for your sandwiches? Lol Great shoutout to LCR!

Hi there . I have a 2020 Suzuki gsxs1000 with a ventura topbox and saddle bags . I am 65 years old and my wife is 60 years old rides pillion 100 % of the time . She loves riding on the back : ) . Great 👍 bike
Cool!
Really , on that seat? wow ..
You won’t be disappointed with this bike....
"comfortable sports bike for those who want the performance but dont want to put up with the back and wrists aches"
Exactly. An old guy sports bike.
I put a Corbin on mine, like sat in a arm chair on the ton!
I put the ventura luggage system on and toured Europe no problems👍
I agree, I'm thinking SW Motech Blaze. I just need to think whether a set of handguards is a travesty :)
@@conkerman01 only you know!
Always making things interesting. I like the real-world feel of your reviews, no one does it as TMF does it. No fluff yet informative and fun.
Thank you Scott - that is my intention!
Excellent in-depth review! Totally agree with your comments about the headlights. Looking forward to seeing a major update for this motorcycle in the near future.
I had a Kawasaki zx1000sx the dealer enabled both head lights for me .
I agree looks much better with both lights working
Didnt realise that was an option, Mine is due in at Seastar kawasaki, will see if can get mine enabled. Cheers.
Do you know if it's possible to do on the Suzuki?
@@mickangel3945 Sorry I don’t
Contact Suzuki dealer
I would be surprised if it can’t be done
I’m told it’s an easy fix for a dealer.
Dont think it can be done on GSXS as the high beam reflector is set as a high beam only.
I JUST LOVE SUZUKI
Gotta love the close captions added to these vids. TMF's customary greeting becomes 'Hey Kids, Piston Fly here......'. Keep up the good work Piston Fly
I got the GSX S-750 last December and it's without a doubt the best bike I've been on. Perfect handling and power delivery for street riding.
Great to hear!
A great bike all round for the price. Made a luggage frame for mine and it is a great machine for touring. A powerbronze touring screen, hand guards and heated grips makes it an all year round bike. Thanks for the review TheMissendenFlyer.
My pleasure....
I have mine 1 year now and love it ..fantastic bike...easy to ride and loads of torque...love it.
Great to hear!
If I had one I’d fit a Ventura luggage system. It would solve the lack of passenger grab rails and luggage options in one fell swoop.
I really like this bike having watched another great review from TMF, only doubt I had was luggage lacking but owners in the comments have put my mind at rest so this really is a bike I'm interested in now!
It’s a great value machine - much under rated….
For me at 6'1 the standard screen leaves you with clean air around the head, very comfortable and looks good. You'll need a barn door to keep it all off and then the turbulence would probably start. Great video 👍
Nice socks mate
@@janjurecki3661 you mean his rather than mine 🤔😄
Thank you..
@Ashley Reynolds
Thanks, good information for me.
Have owned this bike for 4 years, everything you said was spot on, great review!
The BEST review (by far) for this bike on TH-cam. I really like the simplicity of Suzuki.
Thank you for the imputing so much effort for this video. Very informative ! I can totally relate to the symmetry OCD comment 😂 ! Great bike !
Yes I really like the GSXSF - such a shame it's not made any more!
Thanks TMF
Thank you Tim for watching and for stopping by!
that headlight thing bugs the hell out of me too. the new Triumphs 900 street and speed triples have that too. not sure if it is some sort of regulation or what. but it is almost a deal breaker for me
Interesting review, the bike looks great when clean and the colour scheme is understated but nice... think Triumph need to steal Suzuki’s paint department!
Totally agree
White? Triumph have done a lot of white bikes. Not my favourite.
And also Susuki 's twist and go reliability.
I really like the whole GSXS range, I owned a 750cc and loved it and I would have loved to of had the 1000cc, but what put me off was the lack of a quick shifter, and the general lack of optional extras and as you've said, the lack of rider modes.
Thanks for putting yourself through rainy rides to give us a full test, don’t think I’d choose to go out in that weather unless I had to!
That’s what I’m here for!
Great review TMF and glad to hear that you found the fuelling not to be the issue that’s been reported elsewhere on this bike. Potential Sunday morning scratcher (in the naked form) for me at a reasonable price. Now to watch your Trident review to add to the mix.....
Great work as always TMF! My mate has just bought one used - 2018, 4000m for 6k. Ace bike!
Me too!
Given pillion capacity is errr... challenging you'd likely be touring on your own therefore a tailpack would be perfect for touring. I've toured extensively solo on a Gixxer 1000 and managed fine with a tailpack and tank bag.
Probably for the best, I’m not sure that Mrs. Flyer appreciates when the big K5 engine does its thing 😅
Generally seen as the bridesmaid to the Kawasaki Z1000sx but for me it is one heck of a bike for less than £10k......Meanwhile methinks your bike-washing OCD has reared its head....the big Suzuki is looking suspiciously clean......
Oh yes, I don't "do" dirty bikes me....
The Suzuki is more sports the Kawasaki more tour
@@aethelwulfwarlord1475 the Kawasaki sx dynos at around 126 rear wheel bhp (140) at the crank) the Suzuki has 147 at the rear wheel and every comparison test I've read with the two bikes head to head agrees the Suzuki has more power and better handling

Great bike, but I chose the z1000sx as it has panniers and mine came with a few additions like Sat nav heated grips. I Always use to bang on about twins and triples but have fallen for these smooth inline 4 engines. Thanks Andy for another great review.
My pleasure Dave!
" Sat nav heated grips" Some prefer heated gloves. The heat does not have to penetrate through the glove that way.
Yes I love those blue rims too - wish more manufacturers would be a bit bold like that....
There ya go! MF is the best at this gig.
Your reviews are one of the bests on internet. Good work!
Thank you!
that windscreen looks amazing totally changes bike legit touring bike now!!!!
Your motorcycle is so cool.

Cheers Adrian will do ......my 2012 Street triple R doesn't have ABS!! :0( ...but it does have gold wheels!
Cheers Rob...
Great review i have the phantom black naked version lovely bike now decatted and remapped to 160 at the wheel insane performance, the engine is really held back in stock form.
Ps its not a dip stick thats the oil filler cap and sight glass below the engine case 👍🏼
Nice simple bike, I recon I could live with it and be happy, be nice to have a centre stand or the option to fit one. 😊👍🏼
Lack of a center stand is a huge negative to me - it makes lubing the chain while traveling so much harder. A Scottoiler system is the likely solution.
Just bought a gloss black 2020 model for a steal can't wait to get it
Just bought another one, blue and black this time
SW-Motech Blaze bags are a nice option for luggage.
Yes interesting idea - I have thought of that too but not sure on the legality.....
You're nicked.
My pleasure Jas
The big plus for me on this bike is the fairing. I could have used one like this when I used to ride around London and outside on a naked bike all-year around. There are so few bikes with fairings and with the U.K. weather, it must make a big difference to your riding comfort. i want to try one.
Right proper review. I’ve been considering this as my next bike, but the non-faired version. Now I’m considering the F as I really enjoyed your review of it. Like you, I don’t like a lot of electronics on my bike, and like you, I’m 5’8”. I’d love to see you do a kit review. Cheers and thanks.
Totally agree with you on the lights. Both headlights should be on in low and high beam.
Whaddaya expect from folks who drive on the wrong side of the road? :-)
My 2017 Multi is similar in the lighting. The low beam lights are the Day Time Running lights, with a finger trigger for high beam, but no separate switch.
Nice review Andy, I’m getting my Tiger 900 Friday that also only has one headlight on dipped I will be sorting that so they both come on.
Congratulations Richard, lovely bike!
Can't go wrong with Suzuki motorcycles they have great engines and are fantastic value for money .
Nice job as always, Andy. One suggestion for future reviews might be to mention which suspension tuning settings are readily available for adjustment.
Cheers!
another enjoyable review, mr flyer. just a minor point, the car at the crossroads had priority, so you pulled out on them.
Oops!
Suzuki doesn't incorporate TFT dash but still their display on all bikes is absolutely fantastic and original. TFT is best on BMW and Triumph.
Great review, probably a great commuting bike rather than a touring bike.
Loved the tongue in cheek comment to Lamb chops, that really tickled me. 😊👍
Glad you enjoyed it - who said it was tongue in cheek!
Fair do's!
Yes good aren't they! Thanks for watching and for stopping by!

Oh yes I sooo can't wait to get out on my bikes again, they all sit dormant in my garage saying "ride me"!!
Great video. Have been seriously looking at one of these for some time now. I shall go and book a test ride. 👍😁
Good overview, love my GSX-S1000F. Givi has a couple options for hard panniers.

“ Pistols at dawn “ next?
You've not heard that? I don't think it's unique to TMF
I can only assume you aren't British ;)
You’ve not heard that? Have you no shame sir/sis?
This bike was not designed as a tourer,. It is a comfortable, capable, amazing sounding and fast liter sport bike. For me the gearing negates any touring capability in that 6th gear is neither a tall ratio nor an over-drive, same ratios as the GSXR, it screams at 4600rpm at 65 mph. I bought a phantom model, and love it.
Fair enough!
Love this bike stunning, thanks Flyer.👍
Thank you for watching
Thanks for the detailed comment Andi and my bad on the dipstick/sight glass - several have mentioned it - doh!!!
Hi oil level is sight glass and pillion hold's on to the strap great review 👍
Yes it is! My bad!!
@@TheMissendenFlyer so is the oil measured with the bike on side stand or do you need to level it up? one of the drawbacks of no centre stand
@@guyr7351 yes has to be level and all bikes should come with a center stand👎
Yes totally agree, have both headlights lit much safer and looks far far better.
It's nice that your video reviews are so comprehensive. cheers
I'm glad you think that Gilbert, I try to cover the things I'd find important about a bike if I wanted to buy one - cheers!
another good review.... the screen looks tiny to me!!!!!!!! Great vid dude
Thanks Mark
If your going touring then buy the GSXF 1250 ( newer bandit basically) that's suzuki's proper tourer. Under seat storage review is a great bit to do in a video but may i suggest you use a disc lock for the size comparison as that's all that would generally go in there for most riders.
Hi Andy
I’ve had 2 of these as my first one got stolen after 8months.
Both bikes have an oil sight glass by the way
Brilliant video though
I’ve used mine on track days and touring and, agree strapped luggage down on the back and scratched the cowl on the back,

Good choice, well done for picking this bike👍
Cheers Steve....
I think both bikes are pretty excellent value for money and great bikes - go with the one you like the look of the most!
Tut tut Mr Flyer, the car had right of way,it was YOU how tried to cut in front of him,he was going straight through!
Your review was quite informative and thorough ❤.
the white van that overtook you on the motorway looked like the same van that let you pass in the rain.
All excited for my delivery now.
This review is the first time I could see why people say it looks like a scooter... It does!
Sounds amazing, goes wonderfull, and it is verry very well priced...
Agreed all round!
I noticed you mentioned it only has a dip stick for the oil, but in fact it doesn't. It has a sight glass. Great vid as always 👍
Yes my bad - about 1000 others have also noted that - sorry!
@@TheMissendenFlyer haha I'm not surprised Andy 🤣
