I love the kit on this model but am in love with last year's body styling. I'm torn. There's a 2019 GSX-s1000 for 9k only an hour and a half from where I live. Loved it on the test ride, but liked the new kit even more when I test rode that one. Loved riding both, but the edge goes to the new one. Can't say both look good because, I love the old style looks.
Remember this bike has the engine derived from the 2005 GSXR-1000K5 engine, which was a monster of an engine with no rider aids (thankfully) and when you put it mode-A and opened it up it sounded just like my old 2005 K5 Thou, great memories of that bike, perhaps I might look into one of these as I'm trying to find something more comfortable nowadays, just a bit unsure of those stacked headlights tbh. 🤔
As far as the look goes and especially the headlights - if you don't like it there's always the Katana or the new GT. Similar performance-wise but different styling. The Katana is the one I'd choose.
The sharp angles of new bixe has sort of grown on me and it's how it is anyway. The front light reminds me of the remake of Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy with the new Zaphod Beeblebrox had his heads!🙃
What mic setup have you got? when I used a gopro hero 9 and media mod and mic input it was such a pain to get it all running and it stopped working after a day :/
GoPro 9 with media mod. Connected up to a Sena 10S boom mic using two adapters, one is to get the Sena to 3.5mm size and then a TRRS to TRS. I've heard of others having issues but so far (touch wood), it works well for me.
My local dealer has new 2024 GSX-S1000's $2,600 off for just under $9,000 before fees and taxes. Seems like an excellent deal as far as performance/cost ratio. But I know as soon as I plunk down the money, Suzuki will come out with a newer version with an upgraded TFT screen.
Guys, come on. Of course you need to look at the dash, but it's more about looking at the road. It's a bike that you'll ride "feeling" the bike and the road. I assume that I don't keep looking at the dash. So, of course it would be better to have a TFT, but keep in mind this: cost x benefit. Maybe the best in this category. I Have a Z900RS Café but thinking about changing. Hope this comes to Brazil (and I think it will).
Simple anwser and forbtye money definitely yes! It will do the weekly commute and the weekend blasting with mates!! Obviously if you want more bhp then you will need to pay more for that! But I recon an average rider on a public road this will be as quick down the favourite road as bikes costing twice as much! Cause as usial the limiting factor is the rider capabilities and the resistance to the "scar yourself silly" moments. Not the bikes capabilities or grip from the tyres. On a track it probably will be a different story but as well a slow rider will be slow on a Streetfighter V4S as well as this! Good review!
So I rode and really like the gsxs1000. Is the gsxs750 as much fun? What would you say is the major difference I would notice if I rode them back to back?
Sounds like a great bike, I just don’t find it very good to look at, I like the front of the new gt better. I’m assuming the engine tune is the same on both bikes?
@@Englishbikerdan Yeah I think the engine is the highlight of the gsxs series of bikes, the K5 seems to be thought of as one of the best engines in motorcycling, (along with yamaha's CP3) I was between the Katana, with the same engine, and the CB1000r last year and went with the Honda strictly because of the fit and finish and overall quality look of the bike.
Also in comparison the Aprilia Tuono is Lets be Honest a De Faired Sports Bike not a Super Naked, The KTM DUKE 1290 is just a Out of Control Animal over Tuned & the MT-10 is nice full of Tech But is not a very good Riding Position & has a Front Wheel made of Helium lol Were as the GSX-S1000 is a True Definition of a Super Naked, Smooth-Loads of Power, Stop and Corners like a Boss and the BEST THING - - - - - the S1000 is approx. $4-$6K -Thousands Cheaper than all the others. And I heard a Rumour there Going to Introduce the Vinyl Package and Carbon accessories pack options late 2022 just like they have for the GSX S750 Options.
Do you prefer this to the CB1000R? More low-down shove than one. I'd like the Suzuki if I had need for a litre bike, but the roads in Thailand don't require so much power. I used to have B-King in Europe. A bit too heavy at 265 kg, though. The 1000 is pretty light, relatively speaking. These litre-plus Suzuki inline fours can often get to over 80,000 miles without needing a valve shim. Fantastic old-school engines.
Great review Dan, I know you did a review on the gt+ a few months ago and was wondering which model is more comfortable? I know that is subjective to what the rider likes. Is there a difference in leg room, handlebar height, seat comfort ect... and how do they compare to the ninja 1000sx on comfort?
@@Englishbikerdan To be honest though, as a current owner of GSX S750, I am not sure if it is worth upgrading to S1000 especially my ride is mostly in the city with occasional weekend tour. I was on a long straight and decided to open it up while riding at normal speed and it was a very noticeable time delay from my cruising speed to monster speed. which caused a jerk motion. Did you experience this? any idea why it does this?
You are not wrong that the frame has a bit of flex to it , the front engine hanger section used to be a triangle, now the horizontal bar has Been deleted. I'd say it is even better that way! Same as the katana.
Thank you so much for the video segment, I'm really enjoying it! I bought a 2018 SV650 and love the riding feel and handling, do you feel for a rider getting back into the saddle this would be a good second bike after an SV650 ?
Jeff, not directly on point, but I went from a 17 Sv650 to a 17 S1000r, where (for reasons set out on my post above) is probably similar in terms of rider aids to my 17 s1000r. I was a brand new rider when I bought the SV, and 14 months later bought the BM. I chose the BM over the 17 GSXS1000 because it lacked the rider aids the BM had, and a horrible snatchy throttle. At the time I was confident that the rider aids would help me grow in to what was at the time an insanely quick bike, where the reliance on my skills (then limited) due absence of rider aids on the Suzuki was too much a a risk, for me. The BM has been great, and 52000 later it is great. My theory is the 22 GSXS1000 would be very similar to my 17 s1000r in terms of rider aids and you will, if you have some self control and do things to improve your skills (I have done many track days). If anything, the Suzuki probably sounds a little better than the BMW (which sounds gruff at idle) and as you will know the reliability might be even better. But, hang on to the SV - I got AU$5500 on trade and wish I had it for urban commutes where 1000cc is just unnecessary, and the slow runs can cause carbonisation
As someone with sensitive knees, would you say the angle is similar to anything else you've ridden? I'm thinking of coming from a tuono 660 but don't want a more aggressive knee angle.
If it's like the s750, there really is no problem with the knee bend. The positon is comfy enough, but still gives you feeling of nice control over the bike. It is 150 HP of machine.
Sir, Is this your favorite between the Z900, Honda CB1000r or CB65R or the Ducati Monster. I can only have one and riding 30 years just want one for weekend rides etc. Please give me your choice between those and this Suzuki Thanks
Problem is keeping it at same speed at low speed. Then its a bit jerky but i made around 8 km on bikw so i need to get a feeling. Bike rides easy,to easy, maybe its tires but falls in corner to fast after 10 years of not riding. Yeah it have same HP as my cbr 1000 2005 - so no lack of that , if you can handle it and set up suspension you have gsx r for road tripng.
I don't believe a TFT would cost a whole lot more and would be my preference on this style of bike. How do the ergonomics compare to the CB650R? I ask because I know you owned one and it's my current bike.
@@korazon3spinado Not underpowered as I just change my expectations when riding lower powered bikes. The 650 needed ragging though! The 750 felt slightly more agile than the 1000 but that might be my imagination!
Good review Dan, I just looked at the Suzuki web site and there are 3 versions, the GSX-S750 and then the newGSX-S950 & GSX-S1000??? Why would they bother with the 950 version??? It's the same 999cc motor just down on BHP & Torque so the 1000 has 152/106 and the 950 has 95/92 to just down tuned???
Thanks Jeff. The 950 replaces the S750 essentially and it's limited to 95bhp so it can be used for A2 license holders. It's very smart move from them I think! Cheers!
I had the 17 version of this on the very short list, but purchased a 17 s1000r In late 2017 (and still have). Was about AU$5k difference in price, but the BMW had at that time a better electronics suite and had sublime throttle where the Suzuki had a jerky throttle from idle - the Bmw was just a bit more sophisticated, had 15+ Ho more, and it was a question whether that was worth the extra cost. Now looking to update the s1000r and seems to be a similar comparison even though the successors to these bikes are better than their forebears - the ‘21 Suzuki is roughly comparable in terms of electronics and throttle super ness as the 17 BMW, but comparing it to a mid spec ‘21 s1000r the new BMw probably has an even better electronics suite and the press reports suggest it’s throttling is even more improved - and the price differential is the same. In reality reliability is neither here or there - My BM has had niggles (water pump) fixed under warranty - so it will again be a tough decision, and for a little bit more spend the Tuono looks and sounds. Good time to be riding
Have not looked at pricing lately but was looking between the the Suzuki and z900 few yrs ago, z was au 4 or 5k cheaper.. I do still want the Suzuki...
Its interesting that when I was racing a good few years ago on an 07 R1, the gsxr was the bike everyone wanted to be on. Great handling, fast, good torque. The kind of bike that allowed a good rider to be good. Now people say it's slow but I notice the lap times haven't come down. People are full of sh-t
Nice bike, but I wish it had the TFT dash from the GT, instead of the 1980s Atari dash. If this bike & the Katana both got the GT's dash, the cost per unit would surely be acceptable?
Everyone needs at least one inline four in their motorcycling past, get one before they all disappear! Crazy to think the mighty inline four that crushed the entire British motorcycle industry is now considered the plain and boring engine of the bunch.🥺
To those riders who are on the fence about how good the Suzuki bikes are!!! Look up the comparison between 2005 GSXR ( the very same engine this bike poses ) and Ducati Panigale 2020 V4 S. You'll laugh your a... off and then you'll save a tone of money by stepping out of the vanity race.
I do like Suzuki products but there's one glaring issue it's a hoodlum design Street fighter looking bike I think they should have used a big twin or an inline three cylinder in my opinion the four cylinder is just too uninspiring
Interesting after riding the gsxs750 and 1000 and owning the cbr650 you decided on the SV 650. I guess high horsepower is not that important to you. I think I might be the same. Currently I ride an older gs500f but I'm thinking of upgrading.

dream bike
I love this review I would be riding just like you and having the same commentary with myself I think I’m sold on this bike.
Brilliant bikes Dan. I really enjoyed my time with one.
As far as the look goes and especially the headlights - if you don't like it there's always the Katana or the new GT. Similar performance-wise but different styling. The Katana is the one I'd choose.
Katana is so damn sexy. I feel that kind of power would mess me up though. I’d love one but I’m not sure I want all that power.
Katana tank is the letdown - only 12L 👎
If the Katana had a 17-19L tank I’d pick it all day any day, but because of that issue, the GT gets my pick.
@@mattfrancis8826 yeah that capacity is really tragic.
Danny English... What class... What distinction!
Like to see this compared to CB1000r, MT10,Z900
for people that are complaining about the headlights, KTM is literally coming up with their duke range with almost similar headlight design .
The sharp angles of new bixe has sort of grown on me and it's how it is anyway. The front light reminds me of the remake of Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy with the new Zaphod Beeblebrox had his heads!🙃
Great review and edit, mate 👍🏻
Test ride this a month ago, so smooth and seamless quickshifter, saying that coming off an MT09 anthing is smooth 😂
Haha true!! :D
Looks like a fun bike 👍😎
I'm a die hard tourer so the GT may be a better option for me.
Nice!
Nice review Dan .
Great review!
So I rode and really like the gsxs1000. Is the gsxs750 as much fun? What would you say is the major difference I would notice if I rode them back to back?
Very nice demo, thank you! Up to what speed is the engine sound actually audible and enjoyable to you?
Sounds like a great bike, I just don’t find it very good to look at, I like the front of the new gt better. I’m assuming the engine tune is the same on both bikes?
Seemed identical in the engine department. No bad thing I reckon!
@@KB-yj5xp @K B The CB1000R is a fantastic bike too! Can't blame you for going that way.
Nice review Dan. If you had a choice of this bike vs the 2021 MT09, what would you choose? I'm struggling to decide.
I've not ridden the MT09 so I can't advise between the two.
SO in my Mind its the Clear Winner because you have loads of Cash / Thousands left for Upgrades and Addons and to make it look and Ride even Better. And I heard a Rumour there Going to Introduce the Vinyl Package and Carbon accessories pack options late 2022 just like they have for the GSX S750 Options.
my dream bike. in indonesia suzuki bike is so rare. in indonesia is more honda and yamaha 😀
Hi Dan .. Great review. Just wondered how you find the Shark zarco helmet?
Cheers
Lee
Cool bike 🏍 😎
Do you prefer this to the CB1000R? More low-down shove than one. I'd like the Suzuki if I had need for a litre bike, but the roads in Thailand don't require so much power. I used to have B-King in Europe. A bit too heavy at 265 kg, though. The 1000 is pretty light, relatively speaking. These litre-plus Suzuki inline fours can often get to over 80,000 miles without needing a valve shim. Fantastic old-school engines.
Tough choice between the two. The CB is a very pretty bike but for comfort I'd go with the Suzuki. 👍
@@Englishbikerdan Interesting it's more comfortable.
Great review Dan, I know you did a review on the gt+ a few months ago and was wondering which model is more comfortable? I know that is subjective to what the rider likes. Is there a difference in leg room, handlebar height, seat comfort ect... and how do they compare to the ninja 1000sx on comfort?
I ride a 500 ktm dual sport and I'm a conservative style rider, but I want a bike with punch. Would it be too much for me?
Depends on your riding style, but I think you'd be fine. 👍
@EnglishBikerDan I ride primarily offroad with it, and i like to ride fast.
What a cool bike!!!.. The third party windshield/flyscreen is available, right?
Yeah they'll do something. 👍
@@Englishbikerdan To be honest though, as a current owner of GSX S750, I am not sure if it is worth upgrading to S1000 especially my ride is mostly in the city with occasional weekend tour. As much I am happy with my S750, Ninja 400 has been the best 'bang for the buck'' bike for my city ride with weekend tour among 7 bikes I tried in the past 4 yrs or so.
My dilemma is.. that.. will S1000 be so much better than my current S750 at cruising at 50 - 75 mph ( 80 - 120 kmh) ?
Sold I own a 2013 GSXR 750 sounds so much like the 750 when you excelerate.
this bike reminds of me Gundam Freedom, especially with that blue colorway.
How does it compare to the cb1000r or the mt10?
I am deciding between this Suzuki GSX-S1000 and the Triumph Speed Twin 900. Similar price (after 2024 Suzuki discount), weight, riding position, and lack of wind protection. Both good looking but in much different ways. Completely different power, performance, and character though! Which one would you go for?
Very noice Dan the man! Love ❤️ the starting! Beautiful hummmm! 😂 @14.50 mins!!!

Yeah absolutely. Proper good bike this. 👍
@@Englishbikerdan yeah think I’ll probably stick with Suzuki and go for one of these
Gonna make a review of the new aprilia tuono v4 factory?? 😉👍
So i took this out for a test ride the other day. Did you notice the jerky throttle or was this perhaps just my model? I was on a long straight and decided to open it up while riding at normal speed and it was a very noticeable time delay from my cruising speed to monster speed. which caused a jerk motion.
Did you experience this? any idea why it does this?
In A mode, yes a bit. In B mode, nope. 😁
You are not wrong that the frame has a bit of flex to it , the front engine hanger section used to be a triangle, now the horizontal bar has Been deleted. I'd say it is even better that way! Same as the katana.
Great motorcycle Suzuki again best HP for your money , best value? .
Nicely done review. Well explained and showed. I am more interested in the GT version, but the engine is the same. Keep going. :)
Yeah the GT is good too and a bit more protection from the elements. Cheers! 👍
@@Englishbikerdan Agree on that. :)
@@Englishbikerdan Agree on that.
Sir, Is this your favorite between the Z900, Honda CB1000r or CB65R or the Ducati Monster. I can only have one and riding 30 years just want one for weekend rides etc. Please give me your choice between those and this Suzuki Thanks
I'd probably choose this! Great value 1000cc bike!
Think I've asked this before but what model of shark helmet is that?
D-Skwal 2 Zarco rep. All my gear is always in the description too. 👍
All the white vans are down in Great Missenden? Nice review.
I wish they were! Thank you! 👍
Back door action?
Is the fueling and throttle response jerky at slow speeds? It sounds like A mode is that way.
Just rode one and in A mode a tiny bit snatchy pulling away but other than that nothing jerky at slow or fast speeds
Dan, what's the headlamp performance like at night?
Ooooooooh biking season is a coming! Scottish roads still salty 😓.
Good review.
I don't believe a TFT would cost a whole lot more and would be my preference on this style of bike. How do the ergonomics compare to the CB650R? I ask because I know you owned one and it's my current bike.
Incredibly comfortable, more so than the 650r. Closer in comfort to the older 650f; even more I'd say.
Is it expensive or difficult to install cruisecontrol ?
love how he's a grown man but such a child aswell
How would you compare this with the gsxs750 you reviewed 10 days ago? Is it worth the extra money over the 750?
The 1000 is only 1kg heavier but considerably more powerful. Is it worth it? I think that's pretty subjective but for me, yes. 😊
You had the CBR 650 which is considerably less powerful than the gsxs750. Did you consider your CBR 650 underpowered?
Other than the power difference did the bikes seem about the same in terms of the ride?
@@korazon3spinado Not underpowered as I just change my expectations when riding lower powered bikes. The 650 needed ragging though! The 750 felt slightly more agile than the 1000 but that might be my imagination!
I guess the aluminum frame is how the 1000 is same weight as the 750
Good review Dan, I just looked at the Suzuki web site and there are 3 versions, the GSX-S750 and then the newGSX-S950 & GSX-S1000??? Why would they bother with the 950 version??? It's the same 999cc motor just down on BHP & Torque so the 1000 has 152/106 and the 950 has 95/92 to just down tuned???
Thanks Jeff. The 950 replaces the S750 essentially and it's limited to 95bhp so it can be used for A2 license holders. It's very smart move from them I think! Cheers!
@@Englishbikerdan Thanks for the update Dan, I was wondering why they did.
@@Englishbikerdan ...but you lose the 750. Seems a shame.
Enjoyed watching you getting lost in Upton Grey!
Get the Suzuki.
Anyone that says a gixxer is slow is full of it!
Nice bike, but I wish it had the TFT dash from the GT, instead of the 1980s Atari dash. If this bike & the Katana both got the GT's dash, the cost per unit would surely be acceptable?
TFT from the GT would be my preference too.
Either that or an analog rev counter 💪
Everyone needs at least one inline four in their motorcycling past, get one before they all disappear! Crazy to think the mighty inline four that crushed the entire British motorcycle industry is now considered the plain and boring engine of the bunch.🥺
Right!?
True dat!
6:15. I love getting lost on my bike.
It's the best feeling isn't it? And I never really feel stressed or unhappy about being lost on a bike.
If I ever upgrade from my MT07, this one is very high on the list
Between the GSX S1000 and CB1000R which engine and shifter is smoother?
Both being litre inline fours, they're very similar.
I'd like to see you review the S1000R
Me too, I'm working on it. 😁
GSXS 1000 or CB1000R? Which handles better?
Seems to be a good bike. Would like it better in mat black. The front is a bit like Darth Vader without his helmet, when he wanted a last look at Luke before he died.
Thank you for this Dan!
Haha, love the Vader analogy, it's spot on! Cheers John. 👍
