I really enjoy watching you paint. I have purchased a number of books from eBay that I have seen you use in your videos. While I was watching today I was able to purchase a used copy of the herbal book! Thank you for your outstanding lessons and sharing your lovely farm with us. I’m trying to get the courage to start painting with out a preliminary sketch as you did today!
It is always a treat to watch you paint whilst hearing a good downpour in the background. I live in the desert southwest of the U.S. and rain is a rarity.
I especially enjoyed looking through your nature diary with you. The St Francis drawing and the flower pots are beautiful and I agree, leave them as is! Another one that jumped out at me was the painting of the hawk (?) it was beautiful as was really every thing in your book. Today painting was striking, and I hope you’ll do more of this nature in the future. You’re quite talented Diane! The rain was an added bonus to the video, very relaxing.
Diane, no matter how many times I watch your videos, I'm always impressed. This painting is so beautiful and it's so peaceful just watching you paint. I love the treat of seeing your beautiful garden area and sweet pets. Such a lovely way to live.
Absolutely lovely, it looked so easy, but I know it’s not, yes France has had a lot of rain, I could hear it on your roof like it was on our conservatory yesterday , all good today even a bit of sun x
Hi Diane! This was just beautiful! So relaxing to watch you paint and you make it look so easy. Love your cats and St Francis and the sheep and the sound of the rain (it's still in the 90's here)... You look so good and happy too!❤
That is quite the downpour!! I've never heard of these flowers, they are really pretty. Love how you mix color as you paint. I'm working on learning that. Thanks!
That was lovely Diane, so simple and you make it look effortless. I love the shots of the animals, especially the cats. What a rain fall, we've had similar here in the UK. I think they're trying to drown us!! Love Chris
That is really pretty Diane, I find you so soothing to listen to 😊 We have had a lot of rain and today was no exception, It seems to have got cold really quickly too. I tried to do some crafting today but I was so cold my hands didn't want to cooperate 😔 We are only just into autumn so I hate to think what the winter is going to be like. Take care and thank you for another lovely video 😊
Thank you Diane. A lovely video as always. You continue to inspire us with your beautiful flowers. Until eighteen months ago I always avoided flowers. I tried too hard! Now, thanks to you, I love doing them - loose...abstract ...quirky...relaxing and happy 😊
Near my home is a place at the shops where people leave books they don’t want anymore. It’s interesting to go through the books which you can take for free. Lots of great inspiration.
Absolutely loved this Botanical, just lovely. I was squeaking - in outrage:) when you started painting the flower top - like magic! Gasp - how in the world will I ever be able to do that? OK, so I am considering hunting down the book - I say considering because as a passionate gardener who likes herbs in particular I really should take a good look at my own library from the perspective of a watercolorist. Of course, now that I saw it, I want to add it to my collection, oh well. Anyway, you've done it again, you've encouraged me to simply go for it. At my age there is no time for dithering - Just Do it - and keep practicing. I will say, practice is indeed - ever so slowly - paying off, I can see improvement, yay. So thanks for another delightful and inspirational lesson, Diane!
Thanks so much! So glad you enjoyed this and I’m sorry LOL that you are going to have to buy the book! You’re so right, let’s just get on and do it while we can!
@rosehill1595, Yes, inspired by Diane, I just took a look and, low and behold, I have two gardening books right here that offer tons of beautiful pictures, inspiration of plants, flowers, various garden pots and urns. I have NEVER Thought to turn yo any of these lovely books for Art Inspiration. Big Thanks to Diane for an awesome idea!!
I used to have that herbal book, but it got lost during one of my moves. It’s a lovely book and I wish I still had it now. Love the sound of the rain. We’ve had a lot here in England with flooding in parts. 😮
Your painting is lovely! I have recently started a “nature” journal. It is truly a work in progress. I use quotes around nature bc I don’t go out and about much, don’t know why not. But I sure like the idea of it. It was really pouring down at your location. I could hear the rain coming down hard. Thanks for sharing. You made that look so easy.
Thanks Cheryl, so glad you enjoyed it! It really was raining hard, we had a lot of rain this summer, quite unusual, it does make a noisy background but with a metal roof I have to put up with it!
Diane, I am also wanting to use more books for ideas to paint by. I have enjoyed getting ideas from you and the art book lady. What are you using to set your book up on while you are painting?
Hi Denise, glad you’re enjoying the videos! I can recommend these two items to hold your book while you’re painting - Meeden Wooden Bookstand amzn.to/46mt0IV. Table Easel & Drawers go.meedenart.com/4ghDKwV amzn.to/3MNaHE9
Hi Diane - found you a few weeks and enjoy your Channel. I have been painting oils for awhile - so this is new. As I watch you , I’m confused about your paint brushes and amount of water to use. I can’t seem to get the hang of it ! When I follow along I really mess up! Do you wipe your brush for the small stuff? I seem to end up with puddles! Help!😅
Yes, water is the tricky part of watercolor isn’t it! I definitely keep the amount of water low for small details. You dilute the paint with water to the right depth of color, and then you might need to blot off a bit of the mix on a paper towel or similar so you don’t swamp the painting. Very hard to put into words. I’ll try to demonstrate it more clearly in a future video. So glad you’re enjoying the channel!
Diane, did you know that John Muir Laws now has his own social network for nature journalists? That is a lovely flower!

The sound of the rain falling. Devine! Good night.😂
Love you show your yard and the animals! Keeps things real. You always have your free flowing work, work out!

I get so relaxed watching you paint, I need you to ring a bell or something now and then to wake me. Just love it.
Absolutely lovely, it looked so easy, but I know it’s not, yes France has had a lot of rain, I could hear it on your roof like it was on our conservatory yesterday , all good today even a bit of sun x
Must be the wettest year ever, and Brittany is famous for rain at the best of times!

Noticed your cat drinking your rinse water… mine does the same thing! You think it’s just a quirk that orange cats share?!?
It could well be! Arthur is a spoilt, fat lazy bones who gets special treatment including a share of the dog’s dinner - what can I say!
@@DianeAntoneStudio Mine likes to eat the dog food as well!!! I guess cats are the same everywhere!!
