Dear Diane, when I watch your videos, I have the impression that you get better every time. I can hear how much you enjoy teaching us your different painting techniques, tips and tricks. I also have the feeling that many of your viewers think like me, because every day the number of your followers increases. I watch a few other channels on various topics. But I haven't noticed such rapid growth on any of them so far. That's why I think you're doing everything right with your friendly way of communicating and showing things. The level of your lessons is set high, but it's not too difficult, you're probably taking your cue from the high level of your other pictures. You have to challenge your "students". You work so persistently to grow this channel. You answer the questions that are asked of you and you are there every day. Just the thought of knowing that a new video from you will reliably appear every day has become a nice ritual, a good habit and a small fixed point. I would just like to take this opportunity to say thank you. Stay healthy, don't get upset (think of the barbecue sauce) and above all, protect your hands, the most important tools of your art.
Dear Sylvia, thanks so much again for your lovely comment. You really are too kind! I’m so glad that you’re enjoying what I’m doing, and your remarks really do help me to improve, if I am improving! I listen to what you say and act on it! At least I try to to the best of my ability! I don’t want to take all the credit for the growth of the channel to myself though, because there is no way I could do this without Tamsin, my daughter, who makes the videos work by doing all the editing to a very high level. She also takes all the photos, and does all the social media - Instagram and Facebook etc. She also makes the free downloads, the limited edition prints and she wrote the website from scratch. All I have to do is paint!! But thank you for your super-kind words, and I will look after myself, thanks for caring. You take care too, and hug your dogs from me xxx
Well said, I agree I also look forward to her daily videos. Her voice is very kind like a teacher should be! Thanks you for taking time and writing this.
@@DianeAntoneStudio Oh, yes, thank you for saying that, Diane. I've been thinking that for a while, but I just didn't notice it in my comment because I was once again inattentive. Please forgive me, dear Tamsin. It's great to hear all you do for the channel, but especially for your mother. I did not want to undermine your remarkable work.... Please forgive me. This happened because you are never seen here. Why don't you come to the fore a little now and then...? :) I know how much work goes into creating and maintaining a website. I also know how much work you have to put together for a tiny, animated digital picture to make it. How much more work it must be for a video, which you create in such high quality! I like the style, which makes a professional impression on me. Some other channels really can't keep up. From my point of view, it's the high quality of the videos, the high quality of the tutorials and the sum of all the little funny interludes (for example, when you hear Diane talking to her animals or when she's rummaging around in the cupboards in the background) that puts a smile on users' faces and makes them want to come back here again and again 👍👍 You both have a very likeable and strong charisma, which is conveyed even through your digitality. I am very happy to have met you, even if unfortunately only on the internet. You are great!

Bless You! Love the instruction interaction between you and the other things in your immediate area while creating beautiful works of art and memories and instructional awesomeness! Thanks to you and Taminson
I'm a watercolor artist myself and I always use a pallet. I know a lot of artists prefer not to, but I think it just depends on the person. I would like to say though you don't have to put the whole tube in the pallet, you can put as much or as little as you want and still use every last bit of it. I think it actually goes a lot further when you let it dry out and use the water to reactivate it. It allows you to see how much pigment you're using instead of over-using the paint when its fresh out of the tube which is very easy to do since its entirely wet. Watercolor goes a very long way even at full strength so you only need the tiniest amount. Also, its a lot better about the cross-contamination. if you get another color in with another pan it doesn't matter because it's dry so all you have to do is rub a wet brush over it or spray it with water and either let the wet paint run out of that pan or use your brush to pick it up and wash it out. However, if the paint is wet there's no way to get another pigment out without scooping that section of paint away which will waste a lot of it. I like to buy the tubes and put them in the pallet myself because it gives me choices. I can choose the amount, the arrangement and the pallet I would like to use instead of buying a pan pallet where all or most of those things are chosen for you. Also, having a tube allows for refills without having to buy an extra pan every time you run out. I thought I would share my thoughts of my experience with watercolor to try and let the viewers understand both perspectives, especially if they are beginners. It is very easy, as a beginner, to overuse watercolor paint if you try and use it straight out of the tube so I highly, highly recommend any beginners to put their paints into a pallet or buy them in pans until they gain a true understanding of how the paints work. Thank you for allowing me to share my thoughts and for gifting us with your wonderful videos! You are such a beautiful artist
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Victoria and thank you for your appreciative words. Regarding paint, I myself use all the different methods to manage my palette, depending on my mood and the size, technique and subject. One thing I will say though, is that if I am painting a large picture in loose watercolour there is no way on earth I could do it with tiny pans. I need to have quick access to a lot of paint to get my large washes in and it just doesn't work with little pans. If you are doing small work pans are ok. That's just my opinion after a lifetime of painting and I hope you will see my point. Thanks again for your comments x
@@DianeAntoneStudio thank you for sharing your thoughts with me! I absolutely see your point and i completely understand where youre coming from. Thanks so much Carolyn for your support. I thought I replied to your comment here a day or two ago but apparently not, unless TH-cam has been pulling my leg. Thanks again for everything !
Hi Diane. I love watching your channel and have learned so much from you. I prefer tube paint over prefilled ones. The paint is so much better in my opinion. I have very limited work space for my art so I have to do things that save space. That is why I put tube paint in a palette. Paints wet easily after they dry just as yours do in your saucers. So...for me...its just a matter of using my space wisely. Thank you for helping me to realize I can paint the way I choose!
Yes, I get that when people don’t have much space that’s a great way to deal with it, and we all manage things so we can do the best we can, don’t we. I do think it’s true that tube paint is better than pan paint and it’s definitely cheaper bought by the tube. One of my own space-saving techniques (I work on a very small table) is to use a limited number of colors in any one painting. I take the colors I want to use and separate them from their friends. It is like the opposite of using a tin of paints. It helps my brain to make decisions in advance. But everyone is different, and that’s the fun of it all, isn’t it! Thanks so much for your support and for watching the videos, it means a great deal to us every day!
I'm fascinated by your little cups for paint.....one thing it would help me with is limiting the colors I use which would be a good thing......you are full of great ideas.

Only thing missing was a dragonfly….but I guess there was no room for him. Your flowers are lovely❤️. I’m going to attempt this…I have a little trouble painting really loose, but as you said…hold the brush near the end, so that’s what I’m going to do. I found a couple of white plastic little bowls, roughed up the bottoms a bit and am going to put a few paints I use most often in them and see how it works.
