Thank you so much to everyone who has sent so many lovely comments about my Phenology Wheels. It's been lovely to read them, but I'm behind on replying to everyone..🖌️☺️
Every day: 1) go outside 2) notice what's happening in the world 3) be creative in a small enough way to avoid paralysis I cannot imagine a better prescription for mental wellbeing. Thank you Marion, I'll be starting one of these in January xx
You might not think you're an accomplished watercolorist, but I am. I make my living selling artworks and I can say you're better than 89%of the "watercolor" youtubers out there. Your entire channel is amazing.
Marion I've been a TH-cam junkie for years because I don't have a television. This is the best video I've ever watched. Thank you for your presence and for your generosity in sharing your beautiful world with us. Bravo.
Before coming to the comments, I had this exact thought! I've never seen anything like this before that wasn't digitally done. A truly wonderful and special way to record the beauty of nature.
Wow! Your phenology wheels are *gorgeous*! I came to your videos to learn about embroidery and crafts. Your connection to nature is a lovely bonus. Your knowledge and appreciation of plants, birds, fungi, weather, etc, speak to my heart and make me smile. I'm always pointing out birds and clouds and whatever to friends and strangers. I want to share the beauty I see with everyone, and I love that you share your beautiful vision with us. Thank you so much! 😍❤
So beautiful, you should be very proud of what you have created. The colours are amazing and you can paint, I wish I could paint watercolours like you. I love the changing seasons and I walk everyday and appreciate what nature gives us. I love the sweet smells from the woods this time of year. You are so talented and it’s great that you share it with us and keep encouraging us to give anything ago. Thank you.
@@utenowak7154 From what I perceived of the wheels you shared with us, you must project the Muse Clio, the goddess of painting!! You’re far too humble in speaking of your talents!!! I would burst my buttons to be able to do HALF so fine a work!!
I’m envious of what must be your MOST EXTENSIVE garden!! The “sampler” you’ve shared with us is a joy to behold!! For most of my life I lived in the “Midwest” of the U.S. and came to love gardening, but these last many years I’ve lived in the southwest, and that, compounded by dry eye syndrome, has kept me within four walls where I can sorta make my own climate. Sadly, this isn’t conducive to gardening. Thank you BU N C H E S for reopening a nearly forgotten memory!!
Marion, i am so glad to have found you. I love to learn new art…and what caught my attention was the word Phenology,,,and when i saw your art,,,all I can say is Wow…love it. So inspiring.
Was talking to my husband about how beautiful your phenology wheel is and how I’d like to do one next year. I then suggested I could do a menopause wheel logging my mood swings each day 😂 We had a good laugh coming up with ideas for what I’d paint 😂 ❤
LOVE this! As a former biologist, and now a nature therapist (and watercolor dabbler), this speaks to me on every level. I will absolutely be adapting this for me. Thank you so much for sharing that!
This was so inspiring. I'm in the US, currently helping my husband while he's dealing with cancer. Some days can feel so heavy and sad but this is a fantastic idea to take notice of the beauty around us. 🌻 Thank you!
@@marionsworld24 They do indeed. Thank you for your sweet comment. I shared your video with some friends and they both said you have a healing and calming voice and I agree. 🥰
That’s lovely Marion …I know you’re binding it into a booklet , I would put the year on it in the space above the month ,these things do get separated for whatever reason…we did these in school for art…we did building as they were getting built, trees, flowers, sky, insects, a farmyard field…daily tea/coffee/drinks, breakfast/lunch, baking, clothing, shoes,it’s so true you do get better at free hand drawing it can be anything…love it…..tfs always!..
Good idea. It's going to get a front and back cover eventually, but I really should sign and date them. When I started I had no idea that I would be doing them quite like this or that I'd be ending up with a book of them. The whole project just evolved!
I noticed for the first time, that our hummingbirds left our Michigan garden mid September. I never thought to keep track of my garden. Very interesting- thanks for this tutorial... it is brilliant!
Oh, Marion, this is art, love, hope and so much more...discipline,consistency You are a Master❤. Thank you for heart inspiration. I look up to you in Awe ,Gratitude and Grace.
Amazing Marion. You are so talented and inspire us all to give things a go even when we think we can't do something. Nearly 40,000 people love your gentle, encouraging manner with which you go about everything. A true TH-cam phenomenon. Thank you for being you ❤ xxx
Hi Marion! This is an amazing project! Each wheel is beautiful but all together are an outstanding achievement. Your artistry, patience and determination are superlative indeed. You're such an inspiration! Thank you so much!❤
Every month of your phenology wheel project is stunning, Marion! I'd love to do this next year, to get outside more and help me learn the names of plants, fowers, and trees. Thank you for the inspiring tutorial! ❤
Hi Marian, I am so totally blown away by your creativity and ability to do so many beautiful things!! You are a very inspiring woman and I love the way you are so excited about everything you do!! I am so grateful that your TH-cam channel popped up on my TV that day, I have been watching ever since! Thank you for all you do!
Phew! I hoped I made it easy. The main thing is if you use a compass you don't have to figure out angles or any measurements at all. The compass will do it for you 😊
Thank you for sharing your beautiful artworks with us! This video is so inspiring in a number of ways - to see the value of little daily practices building over time, and to appreciate and pay attention to the changes in the natural world throughout the year. I can't wait to see how you finish it off ❤
I love the idea of keeping a phenology journal of some sort and this is a great system for it. When my sister and I were teens, our whole family spent quite a few days creating complex patterns with a compass (like your center designs). I have very fond memories of those. I would offer one piece of advice for anyone who needs/wants to buy a compass. Don't go cheap. The cheap ones don't always keep the distance one has set between the point and the pencil tip while one is drawing. I'm mostly talking about those created for students at dirt cheap prices. A good compass won't break the bank. You can also get compasses that will hold a wooden pencil or marker or such. Those types will need to hold the pencil/marker firm so it doesn't slip while you're drawing with it. I think focusing on - that is, being mindful of - phenology can put one in such a unique state of mind/mood. We went out last week and here, things are transitioning solidly into very late fall. It may seem empty of life or color or activity. But I focused on the colors of the native plants I was encountering: barberry leaves turning golden orange -- oak leaves with complex patterns of green, red, yellow, and brown -- yellow, orange and red berries from Coralberry, Carolina Horsenettle and Bittersweet -- light beige fuzzy aster seedheads -- the star shaped structures left behind on the stem after the seeds of Rough Blazing Star had blown. It's not that colorful wild riot of spring and summer flowers. But there's a beauty there. And when one takes in 'what makes this day different than the one before', one can track the slow rhythm and wheel of nature. I have to say, watching you showcase your phenology wheels from the previous months, it made my heart really happy. I can appreciate all kinds of art - but a focus on nature like this (with a fair bit of 'art' thrown in), speaks to me greatly. Thanks for sharing your process and showing us how we can do something similar.
Lovely message to read thank you. I had forgotten about the compasses that you put your own pencil into. The one I use is the one my husband had when he was at school.. They're so handy for drawing patterns. For something like this it means you don't have to work out the angles or the degrees.
Beautiful project! I am making a temperature quilt for my first year of retirement. I am not good at drawing and don’t think any amount of practice would make a difference so fabric art for me.
Marion, I think your water color skills are marvelous! The Franology wheel is very interesting. I love nature and I never hear of a franology wheel before, but what a wonderful idea. The shy wheel is fascinating and 😍 beautiful. You never cease to amaze me with your talents and skills. Thank you so much for sharing with us. I look forward to your videos more than you can imagine. Living as I do in a facility, you are like a loved a trusted friend that comes to visit and brings sunshine into my life. Thank you so much for what you do. You never know who's life you may be touching and you've definitely touched mine. ❤
This is fascinating and a wonderful way to stay in a mindful throughout the year even if it’s just a small part of each day. So much thought and creativity has been woven into these wheels. Thank you for sharing with us! ❤
I love these wheels so much! My favorite is July! You are an amazing artist! I’m so looking forward to seeing the next months! Thank you so very much for sharing this amazing work with us!❤
This is one of the most beautiful things I have seen on YT. Not just the paintings, I mean the whole idea AND your art. I like watercolouring and can’t wait to start in january ❤️ thank you very much.
oh my God, my dear Marion, I can only agree with the previous speakers: wow wow wow!!! what a wonderful piece of work, I am completely speechless and amazed. you are so creative and talented. I didn't know that you could paint so well. but I'm not really surprised. you have such an incredible power of observation, attention to detail and warmth of heart... it is simply balm for the soul to be able to watch you. I must have watched the video about your garden 20 times or more and was so delighted. You let nature grow as it wants and give life space to unfold. Your magnificent garden is a small oasis and so are you with your TH-cam channel. Pure deceleration, love and inspiration and I would like to say: to some extent the healing of the feminine. I am so grateful to you and that you give us so much here with your insights and instructions. God bless you and your family. You are a beacon! Lots of love❤❤❤❤❤
My goodness.. thank you for this lovely message. I spent years working in nature conservation and I'm trying to re engage with nature again as I lost the interest after my husband passed away. This is an attempt to get back to what gave me peace before ...
My goodness Ellie... I'm not in your league! I'm passable but trying to be better.. at least I can see improvement even with these tiny slices of painting. My theme for November is Texture. That means I can pick things like paint and bricks etc... as long as it's in my garden that is 😊🖌️🎨
What a lovely way to keep a nature diary. To pause and take that moment to observe and reflect on the beauty that surrounds us, and then to record it in such a simple yet profound way is really moving. What a blessing your art is, for I know its healing power, not only for yourself, but for us also. Thank you Marion for sharing such loveliness, it always touches me and inspires. 😊❤
Creating anything at all has healing powers I think. I also think that absolutely everyone has creativity within them. Lots of people just don't realise it though.
OMG. I'm speechless. These are stunning. I could look at yours for hours, and I'm so inspired to give them a try myself. Thank you so much for sharing yours, and for teaching us how to do it too. What a beautiful project! I'm so excited to give it a try.
Just found your channel, such wonderful watercolors. I am in love with the idea and implementation possibilities for converting our garden to natives and their progress. Thank you for very clear and applicable instructions 🥰😁🥰
Thank you so much, Marion. I can't wait to start my own phenology wheel, and I hope to get my inspiration from my vegetable garden. I'm not a great watercolour painter, but I like to draw, so we'll see what comes out of it. Thanks for the instruction about how to make the framework. That really helped. 😊😊
What an achievement to have completed your whole year of wheels! Thank you for sharing your work and for the kind inspiration. I think it is just the perfect project for me to try this coming year but I'm going to give myself an easy lead in by starting now and doing the end of the current year then go on with 2025 when God willing I will have learned the habit and established a wee routine for myself. I love you and your channel Marion. God bless you and those you love. Vera in Northern Ireland ❤
What an amazing achievement Marion🎉 You truly are the most industrious person I've ever seen on TH-cam. I love your wheels on the months of the year. Your paintings are brilliant. Thank you for taking us on your journey. Love everything you do...whether it's embroidery, sewing, painting and even gardening...don't forget your baking and your sculptures out of fabric and beach finds.😅❤❤
This is fantastic. Two years ago I crocheted a Temperature afghan and it was definitely a labor of love. I have been looking for something along those lines but I can't face another crochet project of that commitment LOL. This is a wonderful idea. I have just started dabbling in watercolors and watercolor pencils with a water brush and I'm having fun with it. I'm sure other artists would gasp in horror at my techniques .. but we are our own artists and can do what we want lol. In the long run if I screw up it's only paper and water, nothing earth-shattering. I've even learned to embrace my mistakes and complete fails. It's just a stepping stone to gaining more knowledge and confidence. You have me contemplating on how I will tackle this lovely project for the beginning of 2025 🥰
You're doing something for your own self and it doesn't matter at all if someone else doesn't understand about it. I never expected to be showing everyone my wheels as I didn't think I'd be able to finish one month ,never mind all 12... but here we are!
I have a suggestion!! But first: Marion, these are absolutely gorgeous! That foxglove-- * chef's kiss * wow. Ok so i see these and think gosh, they should be on display! But how? So I'm thinking wall art? Mmm.. round, difficult to frame. Mobile? Maybe but- 12 would be quite a lot to hang... And then it hit me: a calendar! But!! One of those daily ones where you switch it each day- instead of dlipping a page, though, you ROTATE your wheel so the current day is in the 12 o'clock position! You could make a stand for them that would hold the "deck" of 12 wheels in a kind of curved cradle, and allow you to switch out each month and rotate them! You could even do a collaboration (youtube loves when you do those, right?) with a woodworking channel or something to have them build it for you! Ok it was just a thought ❤ As always, adore what you are sharing with us, and your new releases are the highlights of my week!
I love the idea of a curved wooden cradle for them. That's wonderful. I'll keep that in mind for next year as I've already started prepping these ones for a book 🤞 Thank you so much 😊💐🖌️
Hello Marion, this was so inspiring. I have not been able to get to my gardens as I so desire for a year and recently told my husband I was going to start going out even if it was for 5 minutes, there are things to been seen in such a short span, and this video has spurred me onward, thank you so much. I will begin gathering my supplies this week and making my wheels for next year, to begin in January. The ideas are endless. Your wheels are stunning, thank you so much. And for the lesson of learning a new word, phenology, I have never heard that term. In Joy
Oh Marion you have out done yourself with this creative craft. It’s just beautiful. I can’t wait to try it! So much inspiration. I have a great idea for all your months together. Maybe you can hang all the circles like a wind chime maybe do two 6 months wind chimes hanging down. The most amazing part of this creative craft was that it was getting you to go outside into your garden & to be mindful of the moment & appreciate & be grateful for such beauty. I’m so impressed with this creativity it just speaks to my heart! Thank you for all that you do. I may also suggest & try for myself to maybe do the wheel in embroidery trying different stitches each day. Just another idea. Thanks for sharing such a great video. Mariaknits27 🧘🏽♀️🍁🍂☕️🧵🪡🍂📚👩🏻🎨
Stunning artwork, very unusual. I've never seen anything like that. I have some round watercolor paper bought for creating mandalas, but next year I will give a try on your Phenology Wheel. Thank you for sharing such beauty.
Beautiful wheels! Marion, you are a wonderful, inspiring, encouraging teacher and oh so talented in many areas of art. Thank you so much for sharing your talent and a bit of your life.
What an achievement! You are so right to encourage people to do a tiny bit of work daily, I am so hooked on my sketchbooks I hardly miss a day now and they are lovely to look back through. Your painting is excellent and you made the instructions clear and simple, thank you very much, brilliant 😊
What a phenomenal idea, and how beautiful they are! Never heard of these before. So colorful, tied to nature and such fun to view your progress and process. Thank you so much for sharing this with us!
Wow, these are all stunning and a fantastic record of your garden. I absolutely love them and what a beautiful display they will make. Marvellous Marion Making More Memories! 😂😂😂😂 ❤

First time watching yourr videos, and now, a new subscriber!! Somebody has already taken the words right out of my mouth! Cant believe we had the exact same thought!! And that is, in my 15 years or close too, of watching youtubes, this is by far the best video I've ever watched. Your voice is soothing to listen to & your instructions are clear & to the point. You may not think you are great at watercolour but I feel you are much better than you think. Thank you so much for sharing this truly unique and special idea. You are a gift to the crafting community. ❤

oh my God, my dear Marion, I can only agree with the previous speakers: wow wow wow!!! what a wonderful piece of work, I am completely speechless and amazed. you are so creative and talented.
She said it alll
I love your work 36:48
My goodness.. thank you for this lovely message. I spent years working in nature conservation and I'm trying to re engage with nature again as I lost the interest after my husband passed away. This is an attempt to get back to what gave me peace before ...
I have loved watching every single second of this video. ❤❤❤
I hope you might want to make one yourself...😊🎨🖌️
@ I would like to try but I probably would forget each day…. And then I’d be disappointed, plus I have lots of project I need to finish.
Such a wonderful project Marion, so lovely to see them all together ❤
At last! I have been intrigued by this forever! Thank you for such a great explanation.
Ah Marion, you make me want to paint again. You do it so well, be proud.
My goodness Ellie... I'm not in your league! I'm passable but trying to be better.. at least I can see improvement even with these tiny slices of painting. My theme for November is Texture. That means I can pick things like paint and bricks etc... as long as it's in my garden that is 😊🖌️🎨
@@marionsworld24 But Marion, these are lovely, plus you actually see the projects through, and so can trace the improvements. Brilliant.
@marionsworld24 ❤️
Marion you printing of those numbers is beautiful!
What a beautiful project to plan to start in the New Year. I had never heard of this before. Thank you yet again, Marion, for your inspiration.
Wowww Marion you are so talented 👏👏👏you never cease to amaze me, you are such an inspiration.🙏🥰🥰
Drawing will be perfect Karin. Vegetables too. If I'd been growing veggies I'm sure they'd have found their way in 😊🖌️🎨
Oh my goodness, those are absolutely stunning! TFS!
Great idea Vera.
They can be started at any time. I've always thought a birthday year would be a good time to start and finish too..🖌️🎨
I am sograteful I found this! This is so soulful and beautiful! To have the time and ability and Talent! Just gorgeous! Thank you for sharing!
What an amazing achievement Marion🎉 You truly are the most industrious person I've ever seen on TH-cam. I love your wheels on the months of the year. Your paintings are brilliant. Thank you for taking us on your journey. Love everything you do...whether it's embroidery, sewing, painting and even
gardening...don't forget your baking and your sculptures out of fabric and beach finds.😅❤❤
😅🖌️🎨
Industrious! Great description! 😊
So charming! I love this video and, I agree, your watercolorist soul is shining!
The whole world should see what you have done. You are incredible.!
😊🍂🖌️
These are beautiful! Thank you for sharing this with us and how to do them.
You are an Inspiration, Marion! Thank you, love from Montreal!!❤
👋😊🖌️🎨
What a beautiful idea and how stunning it turned out.
This is such a lovely idea and result. Thank you so much for sharing this brilliant idea. I’m going to start today. Hugs. Xx
Ok it was just a thought ❤
As always, adore what you are sharing with us, and your new releases are the highlights of my week!
I love the idea of a curved wooden cradle for them. That's wonderful. I'll keep that in mind for next year as I've already started prepping these ones for a book 🤞
Thank you so much 😊💐🖌️
@@marionsworld24 Wonderful!!!
Ohh Lady Marion She was wonderful apparition in my Heart. Thank you from Tuscany🙏🏼❤️

😊🖌️🎨
WOW!!! WOW, WOW,WOW!!! Thank you for sharing! This is such a unique way to track the weather and nature!! I love this!
In Joy
I'm glad you feel inspired by it Vivian
I love this multifaceted lady. Thanks Marion! You are such an inspiration 🥰🥰
💐
Absolutely brilliant. Such a great tutorial. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your inspiration. I am so glad I found you .
Your daily illustrations are so beautiful Marion. You are a true artist and have created a very special record of this year. xx
Stunning... you never fail to amaze me.... This is pure joy... thank you 🌻

What an achievement! You are so right to encourage people to do a tiny bit of work daily, I am so hooked on my sketchbooks I hardly miss a day now and they are lovely to look back through. Your painting is excellent and you made the instructions clear and simple, thank you very much, brilliant 😊
Thank you. You can never underestimate the power of consistent practice of something.
Art, sports, life... everything!
@ 100% true. Art has carried me through difficult times too, it’s magic stuff! 🤓
So inspiring. You could get black frames and hang all 12 on your wall. Just gorgeous!
What a phenomenal idea, and how beautiful they are! Never heard of these before. So colorful, tied to nature and such fun to view your progress and process. Thank you so much for sharing this with us!
I'm glad you like them..
Wonderful! Thank you for sharing this form of artistic “journaling”❣️
WOW! These are amazing, you should have them published in a book they are so gorgeous and compelling to the eye.
I'm hoping to do exactly that... I'll be making my own book first though.

Oh thank you so much for this message. I really appreciate it a lot as I do try explaining things as clearly as possible and try not to assume someone knows one of the steps already... because they might not! 😊
Marion, you are an amazing human being! Ideas of ways to use this project are currently exploding in my mind! Thankyou!❤ Lorali
That's brilliant Lorali 😊🎨🖌️
This was so interesting. Thank you for this video
