Many years post the events of Goku's epic battle on Namek, we witness Frieza in Earths Hell being serenated by Teddy Bears. Simultaneously in the vacuum of space, Frieza's henchmen "Sorbet" searches the universe, looking for a means of bringing Frieza back to life. Meanwhile on Beerus' Planet, Goku and Vegeta are continuing their training to build up their strength, and on Earth, Sorbet and the Frieza Force have arrived and made a wish on the Dragon Balls. Frieza is brought back to the world of the living, but this time with a vendetta against Goku AND Future Trunks. Opting to spend the next 4 months training so he'll never be dethroned again, Frieza finds himself reaching new heights that he'd never thought possible. In an effort to reclaim his rightful place as the Universes ruler, Frieza makes his way to Earth with over 1000 men, poised for a full scale invasion. Piccolo, Krillin, Gohan and the others are largely outnumbered, but a greater threat looms; Frieza's overwhelming new level of power. It's not long before Earths defenders are quickly overwhelmed, leaving Goku and Vegeta to return to Earth to settle the score once again.

I feel like things have evolved from people not liking Toriyama being disrespected (which is totally fair) to people not tolerating criticism of his work in any way and using his death as a shield. I personally find this (the people using his death as a shield part, not talking about you criticizing the movie) more disrespectful toward Toriyama. Don't use his name as a shield, that's gross.

i like Frieza vs Goku in resurrection F more than Goku vs Cooler tbh. Golden Frieza is a great transformation and Vegeta finally got the spotlight, I really don’t understand why people hate the fight so much.
I love how Gohan's character arc has stayed the same ever since the Cell saga: Gohan stops training -> New bad guy shows up and folds him -> Gohan starts training again -> rinse and repeat.
Hopefully super hero changes that for good

Like gohan stoped training for seven years and was a little rusty. But him stopping training for like a year causes him to assume he can’t even turn ssj. Like what? Also why did he lose all of his muscle mass too?
He trained with goten a little so it can be assumed he didn’t completely give up training. But he clearly did during that year

That's what I was gonna comment, Whis as an angel has to be a neutral party. Allowing Goku to go back in time to kill Frieza is *very* clearly taking sides. Why is he allowed to do this consequence free and moreover, why didn't they just let Vegeta kill Frieza.
Sage has some good points. 😂 Now I was gonna keep the portion of the video when I mentioned Whis not being allowed to tamper with Mortal affairs. However, when I went back to read, Whis mentioned that FIGHTING was the only thing that would get them erased for good.

Frieza saying that he had never trained in his life is a complete contradiction, as it was stated by Frieza during his fight against Goku in the Frieza saga of DBZ that he hadn’t dusted himself off in a fight since he was a child training with his father.

Don't you also think it's weird how he developed all his techniques without training? He can lace winds with his breath, fire multiple blasts from his aura alone, trap opponents in an explosive ball of ki... Heck he even has telekinesis. Granted most of these characters from space probably never trained much since they are overwhelmingly powerful, so it makes sense how he couldn't sense ki.
I think it needs to be stated at how bewildering Frieza going from his "first form" to his "final form" in an instant is...
Frieza's transformations _aren't like_ other transformations in the series. it's not simply that his hair is turning a new color and he gets stronger; his body is physically altering in some _very drastic ways._
Secondly; Frieza's transformations are actually _reversed._ What colloquially is known as his "first form" is actually his _final form,_ where as what we know as his "final form" is actually his _original form._
Frieza's species transform their bodies in such a way that it not only disguises them, but also inhibits their power. In a way, Frieza's Transformations 1-3 are his species' equivalent of wearing _weighted armor,_ and his _final form_ is when the armor is completely off.
Basically, considering how drastic his body changes between forms 1-3, I'd say that jumping right from 1 to 4, should have resulted in the equivalent of pulling a muscle.
That seems like a non issue. Nothing suggests he needs to go through stages rather than his final form because then his body would just transform directly to the final form not cycle through all his forms
Head-canon wise, I view Freeza's forms as "A Shell", partly spawned from years and years ago in Budokai where he literally entered a shell to transform.
The Power Limiters are all part of the same shell, but they are different layers of it. With sufficient training, it should be possible for Freeza to, at any point, power up and simply shatter the shell, going right from any Power Limiter to his True Form. However, this is only possible with training; mental, spiritual, and physical. For someone who has never trained in his life, it should take him months alone to be able to do this, never mind gain any power.
And even when trained, like in the movie, it takes about 15 uninterrupted seconds. It's not instant by any means.
However, outside of having training, it makes no sense for him to be able to do this. I had this long winded arguement with someone once who was convinced that because the manga doesn't have a literal countdown on it, you are supposed to assume everything is happening really fast. So, in this guy's mind, Freeza's transformations were all effectively instant. But they really, really, really aren't. They take minutes on end before his training, and also before said training he has to take the shell down layer by layer - he has to go through first, second, third and finally his fourth forms. Or like you said, he could "pull a muscle", and effectively hurt himself, greatly lower his max power, etc.
I don't care if there's not a time frame on-panel in the manga. The things the characters are doing take time. No one is fighting while Freeza transforms, it shouldn't be assumed that it's really fast, especially with how agonising it seems to be for him.
In short, I agree mostly, but I think that with months of training SPECIFICALLY for it, Freeza being able to go right to his final form could make sense. But then, nothing about Freeza post-revival into modern dragon ball makes sense. Honestly I feel like with a decade of Hyperbolic Time Chamber training, he should MAYBE have gotten to the point of being able to fight Kid Buu evenly. There's no world in which he should be able to even force Goku or Vegeta to TRY after a few months.
This movie’s biggest problem to me is dragon ball supers horrendous power scaling. Going based on how piccolo was struggling with freizas men, the AVERAGE soldier would have to be as strong as semi perfect cell AT LEAST and that argument only works if you say piccolo hasn’t gotten any stronger AT ALL since the cell games

My main issues with the movie are Gohan and why was Frieza resurrected? Hell even his second in command wanting revenge would’ve been a better choice, or a movie villain being made canon.
2:48 What's really funny is that due to Piccolo's ability to make clothes on command, there is no way to justify him being in that outfit. Piccolo could easily put him in any Gi he wants but doesn't because the movie really wants to show him in this outfit.
I'm gonna be honest, the writers probably forgot piccolo can change clothes.
Piccolo was so disappointing in super, hopefully in the future chapters we get more of him actually being an intelligent fighter

What pissed me off the most is how is it that Frieza has a hemchman that can tank piccolo. When supposedly the Ginyu force was his strongest henchman.

What trips me out with the transformation scenes is that Frieza’s transformation was much more dramatic with the camera angles and music than both Goku and Vegeta’s SSB transformation scenes like I know the movie is called Ressurection F but the way they downplayed Blue’s introduction showed that it wasn’t gonna be an impressive form from the jump. This movie was so all over the place that even the manga didn’t include it in the volume collection (I know there was a promotional manga but it’s hard to find and isn’t included in the actual DBS manga TL 😂)
Lol imo the manga is typically better than the anime. Maybe if this was adapted like the rest it would have been better there.

When Resurrection F came out, it was the only new Dragon Ball fans have gotten since Battle of Gods so it was easy to overlook this movie's glaring problems.
But now its become so clear that this is not a good movie. And the TV adaptation of the Resurrection F arc in Super has its own set off problems despite it's attempts to fix things.
The way I personally sum up this disaster of a film:
1. Conceptually flawed - why are we seeing Frieza again?
2. Frieza's way too strong
3. On guard or not, Goku's strongest form should not be losing to that laser
4. Vegeta gets the chance to kill Frieza for good (amazing wrap up for his character considering the speech he gave to Goku about Frieza on Namek) BUT GETS ROBBED OF IT
5. The WAY Vegeta gets robbed and its implications for the future - Whis conveniently can turn back time, robbing future threats of any tension. They're also not supposed to intervene but here we are
1. For marketing since if they threw a new villain each time it would get kinda old if they had no idea how to make the new villain impactful
2. Actually that one I cant say much on lol yea blue goku should've beat the absolute shit out of golden frieza hands down
3. Yes vegeta was robbed of that W so this one I also cannot say much on
4. Again I cant say much other then the staff of the series has to always have the mc getting the W's so... yea
U forgot one part: Gohan and picollo fumbled so hard, like how did they get demoted to yamcha levels
The other points I forgot about goku losing to a beam and the whole "whis and beerus should not intervene in this affair" as stupid as it is... it's been shown time and time again in the series that goku being off guard (which its dumb plz dont come at me for this blame the staff) apparently is the only way to beat him whether to actually hurt him or kill him
As for the other lol its very simple beerus and whis did this "favor" for their own selfish reasons cus think about it they cant have delicious earth food if there is no earth right?

It's crazy how much better Frieza's characterization is in the TOP and after compared to Resurrection F.
I know Frieza was always short-sighted, impulsive and awful to his soldiers, but he's so stupid in this movie. He kills his few remaining soldiers for no reason, goes to Earth before learning how to use his new form then throws a tantrum and dies.
I didn’t get Shenron saying there’s no point resurrecting Frieza as he’d be revived in pieces due to how he died. We’ve seen plenty of characters who didn’t leave intact remains be revived 🤔
I feel like Frieza's short term training hurts massively when his new form and the tremendous amount of time for training he had when looking at the manga. When Frieza in a 3rd of a year can close the gap of multiple years of training and strong opponents, what the hell is anyone going to do to stop him now. I see it as impossible and their going to need some damn good writing to convince me otherwise. Overall, I'm getting real sick of this "prodigy" nonsense.
Also this "Prodigy" boost ruins Vegeta, he was considered a prodigy since he surpassed his father as a kid, why isnt he leagues above Goku despite them training equally?
@@Collofkidseditz Well, Vegeta was just born super strong and until Whis wasn't quite training in the best possible way like Goku does taking in lessons and advice from many masters. It's impressive Vegeta could come close to Goku everything considered so I guess he's a prodigy. And then frieza is ultra super prodigy or something

This move should've been like Super Hero where it focuses on the other Z Fighters as Goku and Vegeta train on Beerus' planet. The jump in Frieza's power would've been MUCH more realistic and it would've given the other Z Fighters a moment to shine while still given them a reason to train. SSB should've been introduced much later on (Goku Black for Goku and ToP for Vegeta) and Golden Frieza should've, if it had to exist, also been introduced in the ToP to give him another realistic jump in power because the canon reason is that literal image training gave him the jump, which is just stupid. This movie also incredibly mischaracterizes Frieza as he NEVER killed/hurt his own men in the manga. Toei DID make this stuff though, so go figure.
TLDR: Frieza should've only jumped around Buu Saga levels of power here and all the RoF transformations should've been introduced much later on. Basically all of these problems come from Toriyama writing a decently lazy script and Toei not understanding ANYTHING about the series as they usually do.
We need a super hero type film for the human fighters like a transformation only for humans based on god ki

yeah this move is what doomed dbs' potential to be great. BoG was a perfect sequel to the buu saga, SSG being one of the best looking forms in all of db. an interesting new realm of power with god ki , GoDs & angels and then RoF came in and ruined everything with a new forced form that looked way worse than the form it's supposed to surpass. literally contradicted all of Z's powerscaling with how weak the Z fighters were. ass pulled frieza to have insane potential that was never there. literally made god ki irrelevant by having a dude with regular ki train for 4 months & surpass it. i could go on.

I really hate how the z fighters are basically useless one piece gives the main cast their purpose and are able to hold their own to a degree the z fighters basically gave up or have no motivation outside of top but it’s the Goku show which don’t get me wrong he is my favorite character but I wish the other characters can get more screen time and actually become more involved in the story outside of Goku and vegeta but unfortunately the gap is so wide now that every new power up will be an ass pull that doesn’t make sense z had build up and tension super skips all that just for off screen training and transformations just to still get whopped and make that transformation useless like goku mastered super saiyan 1 and 2 imagine if he did that with 3 but it’s just the writers on that too much time animating his hair 😂
I mean krillin threw a rock at super saiyan goku during the cell saga and managed to hurt him. When they're relaxed their ki is at a much lower powerlevel.

Thanks for this. I have nothing else to really add. You covered everything. I pretty much said everything you said word for word when this movie released and was attacked relentlessly. Called a hater among many other colorful insults. This movie and the power scaling make no sense. I love DB as much as the next guy but its like when we get new content so many are so happy to eat it up they disregard the inconsistencies or dismiss it entirely. This movie was straight up doo doo. 3/10

this is literally the worst written movie in the franchise, you could argue bio-broly but it all comes down to entertainment (which is hard to consider when neither plots makes sense). if only the story was as good as the visuals in this movie
I love Frieza, he is my favorite villain by far in DB but using him again is just so boring, he doesn't have the same charm, TOP Frieza was leagues above this one. This arc is honestly the one I dislike the most in DB, even counting some of GT arcs, it's honestly lazy and nothing it adds to the franchise is really memorable for me.

I agree the “4 months of training” is just simply a lazy way to put Frieza back on Goku’s level. I love the idea of Frieza being a next level prodigy in terms of potential and growth but that idea could still be achieved if it was more like 4 years instead of months. This is coming from a Frieza fan.
It’d work better if Frieza was revived at the end of “Battle of Gods” and then teased for Resurrection of F, but hindsight is hindsight after all.
Exactly. I also think rather than introducing Super Saiyan Blue, Frieza should have been put up against Super Saiyan God. It would have made a lot more sense for that form to have been used more. (Thanks for donating again!!)

Instead of having Goku and Vegeta go Super Saiyan Blue, have one of them use an “ascended” version of Super Saiyan God, which would actually be Super Saiyan God but the red hair is raised up like Super Saiyan 2 or something like that

13:13 We can't apply this to only Goku. Whis mentioned Vegeta's weakness which is that he's so wound up that his reaction time suffers at key moments. This is as much Vegeta's fault as it is Goku's. Vegeta had plenty of time to kill Freeza before he blew up the Earth but instead, he posed over him and threw a badass line. Goku deserves some criticism but Vegeta just as much.
That's always a writing thing that's gonna always annoy me when I see it in DB. When things only get worse specifically because Goku and/or Vegeta got on their high horse again and allowed their foe to get a boost in their desperation and complacency. That ends up happening again both times in the Moro arc.
I don't even know if it's overconfidence cause Goku just doesn't wanna kill and Vegeta just wants to satisfy himself but people ignore that cause Goku got the kill, I guess

I mean that's when I kind of got turned off from super like when I saw Resurrection of F and I just was like okay what the hell is going on and how in the previous movie Gohan had muscles and was able to go missed it or ultimate form or whatever the hell you want to call it then all of a sudden we get to Resurrection of F which is supposed to be one year after the events of battle of gods Gohan can't do nothing all of a sudden No I'm not buying it the fact that we've seen Gohan easily one shot Frieza beforehand you know in those movies and in the Dragon Ball GT but then all of a sudden in Resurrection of freezes more powerful than Gohan know absolutely not when cell was more powerful than Frieza and Majin Buu was more powerful than him the movie just made no sense and don't even give me started with those stupid blue colors that didn't make any sense because we never saw Vegeta get Super Saiyan God but all of a sudden he can go blue form too please It the movie was pathetic and it just showed me the downfall of super and how I was right to worry about the franchise because the franchise happened improved at all honestly is just here for hey look we got different color forms of characters that you know and we completely don't care about the continuity and we're just going to throw whatever we can at the wall just to call it a movie or a franchise because we know how much you guys love Dragon Ball and eat up everything Dragon Ball because American fans playing GT was so bad but yeah what a disappointment this was cuz it was just a rehash of the freezer saga except for getting used Vegeta to use Goku okay great It would have probably been better if it was Gohan Goten trunks and piccolo and grilling fighting off freezing them and then you end it with either the boys fuse them together or you ended with Gohan that's what really should have been happening not whatever it is now since he is there's a time and place for Goku and Vegeta and it wasn't this movie

It makes sense for Piccolo to not bring Goten and Trunks. If Frieza was back and as strong as he was before, the current Z fighters would wipe the floor with him. If Frieza was back and a too strong to handle, Gotenks would definitely recklessly attack Frieza and get himself killed.

Frieza negotiating with Vegeta to join him again was PLAINLY dumb. What I also thought was dumb, was Goku & Vegeta needing to hold hands to Instant transmission 8:36. Goku' teleported many people without holding hands. Why is it important in just this scene... To create tension by differing odds idk.
Another issue with this movie was how weak the those on earth were think about the best they could do was handle Frieza soliders but win Frieza came aeoind everyone was pretty much useless.and it was pretty much up to Goku and Vegeta to face the final boss Frieza.and another issue with this movie was that it was Goku who killed Frieza not Vegeta Vegeta had Frieza on the ropes and it was finally an opportunity for to kill Frieza get us revenge personally and give him the win against the main villain Vegeta desered it but the writers simply let him it and it was up to Goku to finish of Frieza have that chances.
Im just gonna say it. The anime was better then the movie by a long shot! Battle of gods definitely was the better movie, but the resurrection f arc in the anime was WAY better then its movie counterpart. Since it bridges all the gasps between battle of gods and resurrection f. Tagoma was giving a better show, the ginyu bit was hilarious, Vegeta's beating of Frieza was more satisfying, AND the ending was more complete.
There are a lot more problems with this movie but I'm going to say the main problem with this movie is the power scaling. Master roshi over goten and trunks? A ss3 gotenks who was strong enough to fight majin buu when everyone else was too weak. Idc what master roshi does he couldn't beat gotenks ss3 even if they weren't allowed to use both their hands. Goku getting shot by a pew pew gun? Goku having to turn ss blue instead of ss2 to fight golden frieza? Same with Vegeta. Movie was trash. The only ppl that like it are fan boys that get off on saying master roshi flex his chest. Trash
Don't forget Frieza trained his soldiers during 4 months, that explains why the bull thing could keep up with Piccolo
Given that Frieza in his first form had already obtained ridiculous power by training, he could train them until they're nealy dead, them reanimate them with the machine.
As for the soldiers, Frieza was the leader of the biggest army in the universe so recruiting men isn't an issue for him
the only good part of the saga was the new frieza race lore. considering frieza was the big bad for the larger half of z and such an important figure narratively, we don’t know a lot about him, so even though his extreme boost with 4 months of training felt cheap in some ways, it makes him a way scarier villain and if used better, would make him so much cooler. like, the legendary super saiyan, and then the godly form of the legendary super saiyan, were only enough to beat him because he didn’t try hard enough. that could be so much better utilized story-wise if dragon ball wasn’t written to be the shonen money machine.
i wish goten and trunks were more relevant, i wish the other fighters weren’t scaled down dramatically to make goku look better, and i wish bulma wasn’t so sporadic with her personality. a genius scientist thats been manipulating the gods of her universe in her favor can’t realize taunting frieza is a bad idea?? everyone’s characters were wasted :(

1.all the time travel shit was so not needed vegeta lost his chance to kill frieza and revange his pepole in namek and now he had a chance to win and they took it away from him
2.why tf gohan is so weak??? gohan is unable to turn ssj ?? we are not in namek saga , idc if a year went by and he didnt train we saw in super, gohan needed like 1 day to go and get his edge in battle but when they train it just dosent work lmao
3.the laser beam that goku got shot it is just so bad writing i know they wanted to say that goku is lowring his gaurd down when he wins a fight but with a laser beam from some a fat circule blue mf its just bad bad plot
4.picoolo cant fight against frieza goons like wtf picoolo trains it was so bad looking at how picoolo losing to lower being then him
5.captain ginyu for some reason got the power from the soldier and wins a above super sayian fighters like gohan and picoolo this is debunking the statment goku made when ginyu took goku's body

True. SSB shouldn't be in this arc, the narrative-wise. I prefer to save SSB for the Goku black arc. That be narrative-wise better since Goku black did kill everyone he loves. And SSB is super Saiyan God super Saiyan. Narrative you can say after learning or seeing that Goku black killed someone close to him that would cause him to transform into SSB for the first time due to rage.

Yeah this is probably the weakest arc of Super. The concept itself isn't that great and the execution is similar, it doesn't helpt it that the manga skipped it (outside of a good prelude that made Champa indirectly responsible for this arc) and that the anime made some questionable choices with it. The Broly movie also retroactively made it worse since it looks like Sorbet wasn't really the only remnant of the Frieza Force left which begs the question of where were characters like Berryblue during RoF?
They always find ways for Goku to take the glory. Vegeta deserved that kill.
what rf should have done was have goku and vegeta fight frieza in god. they will both take turns both fights are them going toe to toe with golden frieza, instead of frieza destroying earth frieza pulls off a ( saiyan saga) vegeta move and flys up shooting a death beam at gohan goten and trunks (kill or injured both can happen) this really pissed off both goku and vegeta to the point that they get angry and transform into the stunning ssjb, frieza sweats alot as whis and beerus are shocked by this beerus says ive never would have known these 2 could go so far as goku and vegeta combo frieza and shooting a final kamehameha(dbs broly style) at him which kills him
I don't care what anyone says, everything after Goku getting Frieza on his knees is certified trash. Goku, in SSB and looking down on Frieza in no way should be so off guard that he gets shot, Frieza trying to appeal to Vegeta even though he hates him more than anyone is stupid, and the time shenanigans as a whole is an awful ending for multiple obvious reasons. That isn't even mentioning how weak this movie makes all the Z Fighters look. Everyone there should dwarf Zarbon and Dodoria in power but here even Piccolo is struggling. I *like* family man Gohan but not not being certain you can go Super Saiyan *1* when I could ask Goten and he could probably do it on command is embarrassing.
The Z Fighters surviving the Cell Jr's yet struggling with Namek fodders is insane, one Cell Jr would beat all of Friezas soldiers at once with no difficulty
