On my m135i F20 I just pulled the exhaust flap fuse out (fuse 146). It’s takes seconds.. the exhaust flap is opens when you turn the car off so just remove the fuse BEFORE you start the car and job done. Not sure what other BMW’s this method will work on
I unplugged electrical connector from the trunk wall left side behind the back lamp. So it stays clean. My car is 2011 X3 35i N55 (F25 chassis). The drawback is the warm-up time takes longer now (1 minute) and when it's not warmed enough, the engine won't obey when I push the pedal gas, so I can't use it before it's warm enough.
Motorcycles have been doing this for a decade, the flap purpose is to pass DOT sound emission testing. The test are ran from a cold start and a certain RPM. That’s why over a certain RPM the valves open. BMW says it helps warm up the Catalytic Converter for emissions but if that was true then how come it stays closed till you get on it?
I'm honestly not sure, great question though. It would make sense that excessive pops (from a tune) could possibly do some damage over time, but keeping your valves open definitely wouldn't. This doesn't create more pops, rather let's you hear the existing ones better
@@marlborom2c829 I really appreciate that! I've been putting a lot more time into each video. It's great having you in the M community as well, love the videos
Hopefully it does and costs these jerks alot of money to repair 😂. Why would some one on TH-cam think disconnecting sensitive electronics that brilliant engineers designed for bmw, would be a good idea.
Pops and bangs are fuel igniting at the wrong time and/or place and are never good for longevity and, in my opinion, sound terrible, I'm always embarrassed for them when I hear road cars specifically detuned to do this..
bro i tried doing this on my m8 comp 2024 and they put the clips in the weirdest angles bro i was at ts for a whole hour tryna get it to come out i wanted to die
@@masterhorstgamer9541@BenthuaAot I used bimmerlink or bimmer code. I coded it to always stay open. It's been that way even before I had the muffler swapped for one with more growl.
@@jackrayko7167 I tried it out and it works exactly the same, if not easier due to only one sided exhaust. I notice a significant difference in the sound especially at lower RPM. Sounds so much better driving casually.
Always in sport + I love it! It’s hard to drive my M240i in any other mode.

Do you know if this would work for a 650i
Just saw the last line, lol.
@@thetipmoorefind the fuse for your flap and take it out.. just give it a try
Can’t wait to do this before getting on my way to work tomorrow morning 😂😂
Thanks. I’ll hold on any exhaust mods for a bit

Please don’t push your car when it’s not warm you’re killing it
Bro, we bought a used 2021 X3 and was about to do it until I noticed that the previous owner already did it HAHAHAHA
How i do it on a 2012 bmw x5 xdrive35i
will it work on a regular X5 or only the M version
It will work on a regular as well
Will it work on x4 35i sport 2016
The flaps serve the purpose of warming the engine when it is cold. M cars are a finely balanced ecosystem.

Is it doable also with diesel engine?
2018 f30?
Question, will more pops do damage to the internals of the M2s stock exhaust?

Will this work on my 2013 bmw Z4 e89 M sport. 👍Jay from the UK
How can I make my 2015 x5 louder
Kind of defeats the purpose of having a valves exhaust… which believe stays fully opened in sport +
Will this work for 650i
Does it affect gas mileage?
I’m Kilo from Compton California. Will this work on my 2018 BMW 540i MSports package?? Thanx
did it work?
haha nice trick!
I'll do it to my M5
damn that's rough
How’d it work?
does it give a code on obd?
Sweet ride
Thank you sir
Is it the same on x6m e71
Will it work for bmw 3 gt 2016
I have the same and want to know this!!!
It works ❤
Bimmer code, sorted.
What purpose do the exhaust valves serve if there’s no performance or MPG change ?
warms the engine faster, it helps with the eco mode
I had a look under my 2016 X3 35d and does not have these things to disconnect.... sad
Does this apply to the m235i too?
did it work?
nice video, love your dress boss, where did you buy this dress from? my car us bmw 320i grey 2020 want to match a dress with my car
Smooth move
I have an M Performance exhaust that has no valves at all
Wouldn’t recommend doing this but instead do the fuse method
Yep both work. Fuse method has no chance of getting the connectors dirty
Which fuse number?
Which fuse?,mine a 316i n13 2014
What’s the fuse method
Wait... So what you're saying is putting the M2C in Sport+ doesn't fully open the valve?!

Dose 550i?
Did you do it ? I have a 2008 550i ?
Smart man
Going to do it on my 23 X3
K
can i make that in my 530i 2018 xdrive?
Just re-program it to stay open. Its not hard, and you dont have to disconnect anything.
How?
Yeah. How
Go get it tune…at any or those bmw sport car shops
Voids warranty not smart if you care abt it

Anyone know if a m3 or m6 exhaust is compatible with a x5?
Yes but you lose power on low rpm.
I can’t find the sensors on my 04 325xi

doesn't it use more fuel
Not at all, doesn't effect anything besides sound level
@@collectingms3803 oh nice I thought it needs more fuel 😅🤦🏻♂️
need to do this😊
TURN IT IN
I turned the Veloster in for you
O’common now, if you want to drive a Beamer then spend the money on a good sound exhaust system
Yea… start the car and stick your face in the muffler. May as well take some deep breaths while you’re at it.
This doesn't make any difference in sound

will it work on my 2014 bmw 3 series 320 i?
Your 320i probably doesn’t have a valve.
