You are correct, it is the regulations in Europe for exhaust loudness. Here in the states we don’t have those restrictions in a lot of states but BMW not going to change it.
Appreciate all the content for the G80/G82. A lot of us owning the vehicle got misguided by our dealers and didn't get the 360 camera package(Parking assistant plus). It was an 800$ option that got removed from BMW's website but dealers could still add it, unfortunately for some of us dealers didn't bring it up. Begging you guys to potentially look into what it would take to retrofit! As you probably know we have the rear camera and sensors already, adding the side cameras plus front camera and whatever else needed would be the task! Thanks a ton!
Considering you’d have to add 3 cameras, not to mention the extra wiring that must go into it, and also programming…. I would never trust an aftermarket solution to self park when there is a factory available option and the 360 degree view is not worth hacking apart a brand new $100,000 car unless you just can’t park on your own. Better off trading in your car considering what they’re worth now and buying an identical one with the cameras.
Just put the dahler system on my stock exhaust G80 manual. It is a big difference, especially in comfort mode. A little more subtle in sport+ but also allows you to control the valves separate from the sound control system. Satisfying. Excellent and simple mod.
F30 has same issue, bootmod3 has an option to have it open all the way in sport/sport+ mode I rather have it that way then carry another key in my opinion
Wouldn't it just be MILES easier and cheaper to install MHD on the DME and select "exhaust flap always open in Sport/Sport+"? No wired-in hardware necessary
maybe its just the video, but i couldnt tell much difference between how bmw has them partially open, vs full open with this system. definitely not 520$ worth of difference, in my opinion, again probably more noticeable in person
BMW does that for the same reason motorcycle manufacturers do it. It’s to give optimal torque and horsepower across the whole engine rpm range. Otherwise you’d have less torque and horsepower especially in the low end.
Probably because of the law in germany. The cars here must not exceed a certain volume to protect the surroundings (humans, animals). It is not allowed to manually control the valves. If u do, your car loses the approval to drive on public streets.

Im keeping my WRX and stepping up to the M3, I like the manual transmissions, what can you tell me about the difference with auto vs manual and power wise what do you think it’s better and how much power can I get out of an M3 without damaging the G80 engine? Thanks for your advise Is flex fuel available? E60 for example and how much hp would it add with FBO

Yes you can overheat and burn the plastic Edit oem from factory one is always partially open With software mods or electronic override systems you can fully close all don’t do this for long periods especially while at speed

ECUs are locked on the G8X. You have to spend thousands and mail ecu to Russia to unlock.

Seems like Bootmod3 does this with the in-tune options for opening the valves fully in Sport/Sport+ mode for the F80 M3.
I think BimmerLink can open fully flaps as well without any hardware integration.

That only applies to Euro spec cars. They have a diff system altogether.
I think it's country related. In my (Netherlands) M440I the valve goes 100% open in sport mode.
