Hey Everyone,
In today's video, we're taking back control of our BMW valved exhaust, by adding a dAHLer flap control module! As you can see in the video, BMW limits the functionality in certain situations where it prevents you from fully opening the exhaust valves. By adding the dAHLer flap control module, we have the ability to fully open the exhaust to maximize its full potential! The car in the video has the below exhaust:

You are correct, it is the regulations in Europe for exhaust loudness. Here in the states we don’t have those restrictions in a lot of states but BMW not going to change it.
Idk if I was more shocked 😲 about the difference of the exhaust note or that Chris went from 35 to 25 with a fresh cut 🤣

Just put the dahler system on my stock exhaust G80 manual. It is a big difference, especially in comfort mode. A little more subtle in sport+ but also allows you to control the valves separate from the sound control system. Satisfying. Excellent and simple mod.

Appreciate all the content for the G80/G82. A lot of us owning the vehicle got misguided by our dealers and didn't get the 360 camera package(Parking assistant plus). It was an 800$ option that got removed from BMW's website but dealers could still add it, unfortunately for some of us dealers didn't bring it up. Begging you guys to potentially look into what it would take to retrofit! As you probably know we have the rear camera and sensors already, adding the side cameras plus front camera and whatever else needed would be the task! Thanks a ton!
Considering you’d have to add 3 cameras, not to mention the extra wiring that must go into it, and also programming…. I would never trust an aftermarket solution to self park when there is a factory available option and the 360 degree view is not worth hacking apart a brand new $100,000 car unless you just can’t park on your own. Better off trading in your car considering what they’re worth now and buying an identical one with the cameras.

@@josipzv But u still gotta buy/install multiple cameras, plus hack the iDrive. Not worth the trouble.

F30 has same issue, bootmod3 has an option to have it open all the way in sport/sport+ mode I rather have it that way then carry another key in my opinion
And Dähler doesn’t support the F30
just remove the fuse no 146 from the boot before the cold start !!!! mine one sound crazy now :D

Wouldn't it just be MILES easier and cheaper to install MHD on the DME and select "exhaust flap always open in Sport/Sport+"?

ECUs are locked on the G8X. You have to spend thousands and mail ecu to Russia to unlock.

Are you sure that the factory valve doesn’t behave differently out on the road?
BMW does that for the same reason motorcycle manufacturers do it. It’s to give optimal torque and horsepower across the whole engine rpm range. Otherwise you’d have less torque and horsepower especially in the low end.
I thought I read somewhere the valves were only fully open at highway speeds.
I read the same, it’s tied to Sport mode, speed & RPM.
I think BimmerLink can open fully flaps as well without any hardware integration.

BimmerLink valve control does not work for my 2023 g80.

Yes I had to put a CG Precision valve controller on mine
You can keep it fully open in bootmod3
Seems like Bootmod3 does this with the in-tune options for opening the valves fully in Sport/Sport+ mode for the F80 M3.
How do you program the controller with the rear view mirror buttons? 😦 is this easy to do?
maybe its just the video, but i couldnt tell much difference between how bmw has them partially open, vs full open with this system. definitely not 520$ worth of difference, in my opinion, again probably more noticeable in person

I think it's country related. In my (Netherlands) M440I the valve goes 100% open in sport mode.
Surly Bimmercode will have a software option soon to do what this box does ? just like on the F80's telling the valves to be open on sport etc .
They fully open, just at WOT.
Probably because of the law in germany. The cars here must not exceed a certain volume to protect the surroundings (humans, animals). It is not allowed to manually control the valves. If u do, your car loses the approval to drive on public streets.
We have the same law here in the States
That only applies to Euro spec cars. They have a diff system altogether.
Do 2020 M340i valves do this, too? We have a louder exhaust than the 22+. I wonder if it's from this valve modulating thing

@@ajmeza06 No, the F80 has only 2 settings, the flap is either closed or open. Only with the new G8x is it modular.

Hi, does the valve operate as stock when it’s in closed position or is it permanently overridden?
Does it keep the last option selected or does it return to the stock setting when the m is turned off?
Why do you have the low spec headlights on a competition which should come standard with the laser light? Did you specifically ask for it?

Is there a downside to keep valve closed all the time during highway crusing? I appreciate the quieter exhaust for long trip, only want to rip it open during twisties haha
Yes you can overheat and burn the plastic
Edit oem from factory one is always partially open
With software mods or electronic override systems you can fully close all don’t do this for long periods especially while at speed
Wait, I don’t know what I’m talking about, but I can’t imagine there are any issues with keeping it closed. Or if there are, they must be so minute that it’s not worth talking about.

Brother I love your video’s? I own 420 hp WRX? AMD do to the limitations of the block, I want more power, so my tuner told me that M3s can produce over 600 hp so I started looking at M3s, I’m on e60 and upgraded turbo with meth injection.
Im keeping my WRX and stepping up to the M3, I like the manual transmissions, what can you tell me about the difference with auto vs manual and power wise what do you think it’s better and how much power can I get out of an M3 without damaging the G80 engine? Thanks for your advise

Why cant you just keep the valve open always? I guess to better ask. Can you just remove the valve so it’s open at all times? Does the flap have a major need for the vehicle?
Sure you could remove it.

Why can’t you just turn the valve and then unplug the switch. Open flap 24.7
I know a lot of ppl that do that & they cover the plug with tape to keep the weather/road grime out

Why not just tune the car with bootmod3 or another tune and just have the valves open in sport/sport+ ? Thats what i did on my F82 and now i have a tune and valves open when I want
