Amazing how well kept this ancient cemetery is. Shows a lot of respect for the memory of ancestors who helped develop that part of the country. So much history in that one small plot of land!! Enjoyed the video.
It never took a whole hell of a lot to end up in a mental asylums for the rest of your life until recently. The treatments for actual mental illness or imagined mental illness was sheer torture. Beautiful cemetery though.
My aunt had a miscarriage and was naturally very upset which led to depression. So rather than help her through this bad time, the doctor decided to section her and she was promptly locked up in an asylum. After a couple of years she was still depressed (no wonder being locked up) and her husband (my uncle) was told she would probably never be released !! 😲😰 5 years later, she escaped during the night and my gran hid her in her house so they couldn't put her back in. There was absolutely nothing wrong with her, she was just naturally heartbroken about losing her baby and to lock a woman up for hurting inside is just barbaric and cruel beyond words. With the love of my gran and her husband, she went on to live a perfectly happy life afterwards but if she hadn't escaped she would probably have spent her whole life in there.
The birds are really putting on a concert😊 beautiful cemetery, church, it is all kept so nice. Another grand video 😊 .you and Sue are the very best, the best. Love you guys❤❤❤❤
Very pretty surroundings. I can’t help but wonder why inside of those old tombs 90% of the coffins are in a lot of pieces as if somebody hit them with a sledgehammer. I’m doubtful that every single one has had a grave robber. Thank you for taking us on this tour .
Often those mausoleums were built with wood slats for the coffins to rest on. Over time that wood rots away in the humid environment and insects get in and break the wood down as well. Communal mausoleums like that suffer from that lot unfortunately as their built more to fit many people in and often get jerryrigged as time goes on.
Greetings from North Carolina, USA. I don't know why, but I really like this graveyard and church. I feel drawn to it. Thank you and Sue for all you share. God bless and looking forward to next vid.

I’m really enjoying your video tours if these beautiful Irish graveyards. It is fascinating to me that some of the bodies were just placed in the vaults without a casket. It is both shocking and interesting to see the skeletal remains of these departed people just laying in there. It seems odd that the families could afford to build the vault, but not afford a coffin. Or maybe that was just the way things were done in those days. Nevertheless, it is a beautiful country and I really do enjoy the videos! Thank you, from Aiken, SC USA.

All of Ireland is just gorgeous! In fact all of Europe is spectacular! Very little of it, if any, is as ugly as Canada and the US have become. Actually, a few small parts of Canada are still ok, for now. But not for long I fear. Americanization of everything has spread like wildfire, and the creeping commercialization of everything has made every street in every town become a commercialized disaster, or a derilect mess. There is no in between anymore. I'm so glad that some parts of the world are resisting it. But in Canada, the Conservatives are just lapdogs for the Americans, and when we accidently get a Tory government at the same time as the Republicans are in office in the US, they just rip the shit out of Canada. The Tories sell everything they possibly can to them, doing irreparable damage! Life gets so much worse, but they don't give a damn. Having gotten rich of off bribes, they can afford to spend most of their time elsewhere, in Europe or the tropics, while claiming it was necessary to subject the rest of us to this characterless, Americanized, concrete hell.
That design of vault seems to work more like a human composter than a storage area. Especially with the ingress of moisture being dug below the soil level. That black mold almost looks like the wood burned but actually it is decomposing. The later victorians seem to pay more attention to wider ventilation. This graveyard also seems to have an austere feel to it. I wonder if these barrel vaults show up in different regions. Interesting.
Hi from Boston USA. I have Irish, British and Scottish ancestors. I found this out through a DNA kit. I love your you touring through the old graveyards in Ireland. My granddaughter has done some genealogy on our Scottish side which goes back to King James V and King James VI. Next she’s going to try the Irish side.
Hi GV, lovely to be back with you again ❤ What I do sometimes wonder, is WHY inscriptions are written on the FRONT of a headstone... It kinda means you have stand on top of the dearly departed to read them! Tread lightly! Thanks for caring and bringing us these wonderful findings 😊👍
Thanks for this, my paternal Granny's (1912-1994) family were members of this congregation until they emigrated to Scotland in the late 1800s. They were agricultural workers but became coal hewers, the poverty and conditions they lived in in Scotland until WW2 were heartbreaking. And we are meant to assume that they were guilty of 'Imperial oppression' according to a snotty History professor I heard last week.... from his tenured job, central heating and pension
How awful that a leftist would have a heated workplace and some security! Even in the Arctic they should be let freeze, right? You do realize It's conditions like that, poverty for example, that causes the immigration that you people hate so much, don't you? What a geniuses you right wingers are!
I think the coffins underneath the one on top probably rotted away then collapsed all around. I shouldn't think anybody would dump a coffin on top of a pile of wood basically.
I was taken aback by the newer coffin placed on the rubble of older coffins. I just thought they would have tidied the mess up a bit then placed the newer coffin in the mausoleum. 😟
