- The bus from Cairo to Siwa Oasis is the most affordable way to travel through Egypt to the Western Desert Oasis of Siwa.
Siwa Oasis is a paradise, and is worth the 11 hour bus ride it takes to get there. Check out what the bus is like, and learn how to get bus tickets and go from Cairo to Siwa and back again.
Cairo to Siwa Bus Tips:
-Get two large bottles of water before going to the bus station
-Use the bathroom before going to the bus station
-Wear warm clothes--the bus is cold (due to A/C)!
-Bring a travel pillow or something to help you sleep as much as possible
-The bus will stop at wayside rests several times. Stretch your legs, and use the bathroom when it stops (have change handy to pay the 2LE it costs for the bathroom)
-Don't sweat it if the bus is late! It often is 30-60 minutes late (like in this video)

So glad i found you im going to cairo in july...im a solo traveler and have been to Egypt before. I did a private tour to Siwa but wanted to be adventurous this time and use public transportation and take my time in Siwa. ❤
Have a great trip! So glad you’re going back!
@@EgyptAdventuresTravel im glad to be going back i stayed for almost 2 months and a majority of my travel was done by private tours and drivers im really ready to step out of my comfort zone and travel on my own within the country now that I have a better feel for the environment amd vibe. I met some other foreigners while I was there and we did ataba and Khan El Khalili just the 2 of us. I'm really looking forward to discovering Siwa again and choosing my own accommodations and visiting places at my own pace.
Hi ! thx so much for your sharing in the video on how to take the bus from cairo.
Our group will travel in egypt in late may - early june. And we choose siwa as a part of our journey after seeing the beautiful view & comment online. It's no much information about bus to siwa available online.
coz our schedule is a bit tight , if the transport is not OK , we may have to opt out of siwa T^T
We kinda worry about if the overnight bus still running daily from Turgoman station at 1000 PM ? Do u know any updates? Thx:)
Hi, I’m not sure what the schedule still is-does anyone have any updates?
You are the man!!!! I greatly appreciate all your videos about Egypt. I would like to ask a question, please. Looking for information about the hours in which the West Delta ticket office opens, by chance I found a supposed company called "Siwa Bus" that leaves from Abd Al Moneim Riad Station, but searching further I did not find details so it seems that it is a fake company , unless it is newly created. Would you know something about this, please? By the way, happy new year. I wish you have many more safe trips and health.
Thank you! I have never heard of this company, so I would recommend just going through the bus companies you find at the Turgoman Cairo Gateway Station.
Has anyone else heard of or used this company?
Safe and happy travels!
If I depart on 3 days later, could I buy the ticket? or I just can buy it on same day?
What time to buy is better?
I'm not sure how far out they sell the tickets--anyone know this?
Thank you so much for this video! I was trying to find one that specifically tells you what bus to take. Is it possible to purchase tickets online for this or would we have to purchase them at the station?
No option online--at the station only, unfortunately. Have a wonderful trip!
Hello ! Thank you for this video, I would like to know if you have to leave the bus at every stop, or you can stay inside ? I'm planning on visiting Siwa on may.
You don’t, but I always like to in order to stretch my legs!
Is it the same bus that returns to Cairo ? What time does it depart Siwa ?
Yes, the same bus goes back to Cairo, but the schedule can vary. It usually leaves Siwa around 12, but I can’t remember if it’s a daily bus. You can ask at the bus station when you buy your ticket from Cairo to Siwa 👍🏼
heyy thank you so much for showing us these footages! makes my trip planning easier as I can imagine myself doing it. love that you showed the toilet!! my friend who lives in Egypt for years top tip is to always use the toilet at home/hotel than the public ones 😂😂 my original plan doesnt include Siwa but after some reading I think I'd choose it over Alexandria. Im just kinda worry about the night travel and the delays...what do you think about safety of the Turgoman Station for all female travellers??
My pleasure! Siwa is amazing!
I do not recommend a solo female traveler take the night bus to Siwa. If any of my viewers see this comment and can provide insight, let me know your thoughts! If I were a solo female travelers, I do not think I would be comfortable on the night bus alone.
You can always set up a private transfer to Siwa (it's pretty expensive) or find another backpacker/travel buddy in Egypt to join you for the bus ride. Or you can try it on your own, and if you do, let us know what your experience was like!
Best of luck!
@@EgyptAdventuresTravel thank you for the input. It does looks a lil icky to me too. Ive scrapped Siwa for my November trip tho because of time constraints. I'd definitely go there the next time Im in Egypt for sure. I just need to go with a group or find someone to accompany me 😅
@@mencot89 yes, I think that’s wise. Plus there is still so much to see in Egypt besides Siwa! You’ll have an awesome trip.
Hi, Super informative video! Does the bus drive fast/reckless? As I heard the roads could be dangerous and I have high anxiety of fast drivers 😅
Hi Jen, great question! The bus driver will drive fast on open roadways like the Cairo Alex desert road, and slower on roadways with more bumps and hazards. If you have a high level of anxiety about the driver, I recommend hiring a private vehicle where you can request your driver drive the way you feel comfortable with.
Are you planning a trip to Siwa soon?
What's the time table from Siwa to Cairo for night bus , because i need to catch flight to Abu Simbel at 6.00am
I'm not sure--anyone travel back from Siwa to Cairo recently?
Greetings Gus from Greece. I have booked my fly tickets for Egypt for 28 of November to 7 of December. I would like to visit Siwa from 29 of November to 1.(plan to take the night bus at 28 of November). Do you know if i can get the tickets like 1 hour before the bus departs? Do you have any idea at how much would it cost me to have a private transfer from Cairo to Siwa?
Thank you in advance
You could probably get the tickets one hour before, but I wouldn’t recommend it in case they’re sold out. I always buy them at least 12 hours in advance.
Not sure how much a private transfer would be, but at least $100 usd one way.
Hiya, is it easy to see all the spots in Siwa on your own without a tour?
If you rent a bicycle you can do a lot (see my video on a bike ride around siwa), but a tour is a must if you want to do any desert trekking.
Thank you for responding. Appreciate it :)
Is it easy to book the 4WD desert tour once there?
Hi! I am in Giza right now trying to buy a bus ticket to Siwa but we are having problems to accomplish that. There is anyway we can contact you? We can really use your help
You can send me an email or Whatsapp (go to my website for contact information), and I would be happy to do a consultation in order to help you with what you need.
I drank no water on that bus ride. THERE’S NO BATHROOM ON THAT BUS. Instead, I dropped liquid electrolytes on my tongue during the ride.
Good feedback! Yes, the only bathrooms I used were at the rest stops. Did you use the bathrooms at the rest stops?
good tip!
Did you buy your ticket ahead of time? Or day of is ok? There’s lots of conflicting information
I always recommend buying the ticket at least one day in advance if possible, but they will sell tickets day-of if they are available. When you are coming from Siwa back to Cairo, you can only buy your ticket the day of.
Are you planning a trip to Egypt soon, or are you already there?
Is there an option from Alexandria to Siwa?
Yes, there is-you can purchase tickets from West Delta, same company as in Cairo.
Is it advisable for a solo female traveller to go via bus from cairo to siwa?
Most of my foreigner female friends who have lived in Cairo would not be comfortable doing this on their own, but it’s definitely possible. Any solo female travelers reading this comment who have taken the siwa bus on their own? Thoughts?
@@EgyptAdventuresTravel ty for guiding me. 🙏. ❤️
Hi, nice info! In which month did you travel? cause the weather
Hi Gonzalo, thank you! This particular trip to Siwa was in March of 2021. Are you traveling to Egypt soon?
@@EgyptAdventuresTravel yes! and just like you i will travel in march 2022!! I'm a bit worried about the weather, especially to enjoy the Red Sea
You should be fine at that time of year, especially if you go somewhere like Sharm/Dahab or Hurghada/Marsa Alam. Get in touch at egyptadventurestravel@gmail.com and let’s chat more!
@@EgyptAdventuresTravel hey i might be going to siwa at the end of september I was wondering about the weather too
@@leogomine7604 late September will still be fairly hot, but it should not be very windy at that time. Do you already have your transportation, lodging, itinerary, and guide picked? So exciting that you’ll go to Siwa!
Hello, thank you for sharing your travel video, it's super helpful! I have couple of questions. 1) As you mentioned that it's better to buy a ticket a head. how many days earlier they sell a ticket? EX, I am in Cairo on Saturday and leave for travel south Egypt, come back on Tuesday around 4pm. Can I buy the ticket on Saturday? or Can I buy a ticket on the same day very closer to the departure time? Do you know what time does the office close? 2) If I find a person buy a ticket for me a day before departure, is it possible to the person to buy a ticket ? or it should be a person who gets on the bus? ( do they check your passport # or something?) Thank you for your time to answer my questions!!
Hey! I would recommend buying the ticket one day in advance, and anyone can buy the ticket. Not sure how late the ticket booth stays open, so I would suggest just going sometime during the day. Have a great trip!
@@EgyptAdventuresTravel thank you for your recommendation!
Thanks so much. Is a travel permission still required?
Hi there! I did not have any special permissions to travel to Siwa. I have heard that it is technically off-limits, but I have heard of numerous foreigners traveling there and no one has ever had any problems.
Are you currently in Egypt?
@@EgyptAdventuresTravel No, but I will be soon
@@DerBeybladeFan Awesome! Is everything ready to go for your trip (itinerary, guides, transportation, hotels, restaurant ideas, etc.)?
@@EgyptAdventuresTravel yes, all the booking is done :)
@@DerBeybladeFan Wonderful! Enjoy your time in Egypt, and get in touch if you need anything.
how much bus ticket from cairo to siwa
Great question, Diana! It was 230 Egyptian Pounds. Are you going to Siwa soon?
Hi! Thanks for the info!! Really good video! We're traveling to Siwa soon. From where do you buy the bus ticket to Siwa from Cairo? :)
Hi Martina! Go to Turgoman Bus Stand in Boulaq Torgoman bus stand

Once you’re inside, head to the left, and you’ll see the window for West Delta Bus Company, and there you’ll buy your tickets. I suggest buying the tickets a day in advance when possible. Have fun!
You don't need to wear a mask there
They were not enforcing the wearing of masks on board the bus, no, but this video was taken back in March of 2021, so things may have changed since then.
Are you planning a trip to Egypt soon?
@@EgyptAdventuresTravel I travelled to Egypt a lot in 2021. No doubt will be back again in 2022 for a few months. Good video on Turgoman, it's intimidating the first time you visit. It took me a while to work out where the entrance was. Very useful info
