Great video. I was in Egypt last month and could have done with some of this information before I went, but Alhamdhulillah I had an amazing trip. I hope to go back again and again, Insha’Allah
Fantastic video Gus, thank you. I'm a 45yr old female wanting to travel solo to Egypt. I usually join an organised escorted tour but also spend a few days on my own. I'm an experienced traveller but feel a little concerned about personal safety in Egypt. Your advice put my mind at ease 👍⭐💕
I am an Egyptian residing in Cairo My advice to you Don't worry, you will be safe alone or with friends. You will be safe in all situations I hope you enjoy your trip in Cairo
Hi Gus, Thanks for your VDO's. I'm finally returning to Egypt after 52 years. i was only there for a short layover, but told myself I must come back someday. Well after planning 14 years ago, cancelled because of Arab Spring, then planning again for 2020, Covid this time!........now I have my tickets from Bangkok in 3 weeks. I want to take the train to Luxor and have been checking and testing the ABELA website, but now that I am ready to purchase and book my ticket, the website has been down for a few days. Is this normal? Should I not panic and just wait until it comes back on? Or plan on buying the ticket in Cairo at the Train Station? Thanks
I’m excited you get to go back! Have a great trip! If the website is still down by the time of your trip, I recommend going to the ticket office in person. Check out my sleeper train video for directions on the ticket office in person. Hopefully the website is fixed by then!
Yes, it does! Not for calls or texts at the moment, but it works for internet. You get much better rates and packages using a local SIM, but of course these won’t work with phones that are eSIM only.
If you want a goodnight rest; DONT PICK DOWNTOWN :) If you value those, pick new Cairo city and uber to the place where you want to go. Enjoy the street dogs 🤣
Where did you stay in downtown where you didn’t get a good night’s rest? I usually stay at the Kempinski, Hilton Ramses, or Cleopatra (only for a super budget trip) and have always gotten a good rest. I would NEVER recommend a tourist stay in New Cairo-extremely far from any historic sites, not authentic Egypt, and not walkable or fun to explore.
@@EgyptAdventuresTravel Heliopolis, unfortunately. "I usually stay at the Kempinski, Hilton Ramses, or Cleopatra " ===> I am just on a normal budget khoya! :)
I am an Egyptian residing in Cairo If you want to take tours and visit new places You can go to Maadi Zamalek Mohandessin October Settlement All of these are places in the city center, where there are many motels and all places near you
That one’s easy-all entrance fees are on the EGY Monuments website (egymonuments.com). Only credit card is accepted at the sites; cash is not accepted.
Fantastic information. I traveled with a River cruise co (AMA) and your tips filled in many questions when I traveled to Egypt in 2022. Great comments about “influencers” and the difference.
You really helped me whenever I was in Egypt, great info

Hey Gus , quick question regarding cell service, any idea if the ESIM service, like Airolo works well in Egypt? Would appreciate your help.
Yes, it does! Not for calls or texts at the moment, but it works for internet. You get much better rates and packages using a local SIM, but of course these won’t work with phones that are eSIM only.
Please make a video on microbus boarding points and travel between Luxor and Aswan in a microbus.
Thanks for the suggestion! Adding it to the list 👍🏼
Hi any suggestions where I can book our vacation to Egypt I’m from San Francisco ca
What area in cairo is best to stay for first time in Egypt?
I recommend downtown or Zamalek, because there’s a lot to do, and both areas are very walkable.
If you want a goodnight rest; DONT PICK DOWNTOWN :)
If you value those, pick new Cairo city and uber to the place where you want to go.

Hi!
Can you please tell me, do the various attractions in Egypt accept entrance fees in both cash and card?
That one’s easy-all entrance fees are on the EGY Monuments website (egymonuments.com).
Only credit card is accepted at the sites; cash is not accepted.
Please make a video on how to go to the City from SPX airport
Have you seen my video on Sphinx Airport? I made it this spring 👍🏼
